3011.104
%%[warning: empty job. no pdf file produced. ]%%

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Windows Terminal Server 2008

    Hi All,
Im hoping some one maybe able to help me on this, We have recently purchased the Adobe Acrobat X Pro for one of our clients and have just installed it onto their Windows 2008 x32 Terminal server. Inatall appeared to be fine, no errors reported and nothing logged into the event viewer. However we seem to be having issues with it... I did read a PDF guide early last week that said the X Pro should work fine on a Server 2008 - The install instructions where rather straight forward and I thought their would have been more to it than just installing it via the control panel.
The issue we have is the program opens up ok and is usable for about a min and it then crashes with no obvious reason, From looking in the event log it appears to report issues with the PDApp.exe and the Kernel32.dll - Has anyone come across any similar issues?
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
You can also send the crash dump by following the below mentioned steps:
    Install WinDbg from http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/installx86.mspx
    Launch WinDbg via the shortcut
    Click File->Open Executable
    Select Acrobat.exe from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe" and hit "OK"
Remember to press "g" and hit enter when you encounter the first breakpoint and then you will see a text "Debuggee is running" and Acrobat will be launched
Open whatever file is it that produces the crash in Acrobat.
When you have successfully reproduced the sceanrio causing the crash/freezing of Acrobat X, enter the below command in the WinDbg terminal
         .dump /ma c:\temp.dmp (Hit enter)
This will produce the crash dump at C:\ by the name of temp.dmp
After that please upload the dump (compress the dump using WinZip or likewise) at some third party sites and provide the link for the same. Also, if it’s possible could you share the PDF as well, for which your application crashes on a consistent basis.

  • Problem with Adobe Pro and Reader on terminal server

    Hi,
We have have a Terminal Server environment with Adobe Pro and Reader. We have security for Adobe Pro, so only certain user has access to Adobe Pro and all users has access to Adobe Reader.
Some users receive many email with pdf's attachments in Outlook and need to print these attachments. They use the Outlook function to print email and attachment automatically. The users who has access to Adobe Pro can print attachment automatically with no problem.
The problem is user who only have access to Adobe Reader. The user can't print attachment automatically with the email, only the email is printed. But, they can open attachment and print with Adobe Reader. But, it's impossible to open each attachment because there are so many.
    Thanks for your help.
    Jonathan

    Hi,
    So if I understand correctly,
    1. You have installed Acrobat Pro & Reader on a Terminal server.
    2. You have created a security group in your Active Directory Users & Computers for users having access to Acrobat
    3. You have set permissions on C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe and C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Acrotray.exe on the terminal server and provided access only to the security group created above.
    4. Users are accessing the Terminal server through RDWeb or connecting remotely through MSTSC (RDP) or using a .RDP file
    5. Users get emails with PDF attachments and print the mail directly without opening the PDF in Reader.
Users check the box to print the attachments with the mail (see snapshot below):
    Some questions:
    1. What is the OS and platform (x86 or x64) of the terminal server?
    2. What are the versions of Acrobat & Reader on the terminal server?
    Thanks,
    Vinod

  • Adobe Professional license in Terminal Server Farm

When deploying Acrobat Standard X for 1 user on a terminal server, everything works fine. But this terminal server is one of 4 servers in a farm.
The 3th Terminal server tells me i cand activate the licence because it's already activated on the others.
You i need to purchase 4 licenses for just 1 user?
    Nicolien

    Hi Nicolien,
It looks as though you have purchased a Retail single user license, thus the limit of 2 product activations, which is intended for users to be able to install their licnese on a primary computer and a potential backup or mobile (laptop) computer. Before installing an Acrobat license in a terminal server environment, you may wish to read this FAQ: http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/volumelicensing/pdfs/acrobat_on_a_server_policy_doc.pdf

  • Installing Adobe Acrobat 9.0 on a windows 2008 R2 terminal server

We have had Adobe Acrobat 9.0 with our volume license installed on a Windows Server 2008 r2 acting as a terminal server and when clients remote into the server they cannot create pdf's.  The box is also a domain controller which is not suggested by microsoft but we inherited it like this.  I have tried uninstalling the product and reinstalling it.  I ran all updates and still did not work.  I also removed everything and then re-installed Adobe Acrobat 9.0 using the "Install Application on Remote Desktop Server" and that did not work (it actually assigned the printer port to a COMM Port instead of the Documents\*.pdf normal port)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi bestteksupport1,
Please check if you meet the system requirements : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-acrobat-family-produ cts.html#id_69342

  • Como instalar Acrobat 6.0 Pro en Windows Terminal Server

    Hola,

    Jason...
Make Certain that you Had the Server In "TS-Install" Mode When you Installed Acrobat. It Is In your Control Panel. I Have Pasted the MS Help File Below.
Install Programs on a Terminal Server
You should install the Terminal Server role service on the computer before you install any programs that you want to make available to users. If you install the Terminal Server role service on a computer that already has programs installed, some of the existing programs may not work correctly in a multiple user environment. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the affected programs may resolve these issues.
To ensure that an application is installed correctly to work in a multiple user environment, you must put the terminal server into a special installation mode before you install the application on the terminal server. This special installation mode ensures that the correct registry entries and .ini files that are needed to support running the application in a multiple user environment are created during the installation process.
You can put a terminal server into this special installation mode by using either of the following:
Install Application on Terminal Server tool under Programs in Control Panel. This tool will run a wizard to help install the application.
Change user /install command at a command prompt. You will have to start the installation of the application manually.
After the application is installed, you must put the terminal server into execution mode before remote users begin using the application. The Install Application on Terminal Server tool will automatically put the terminal server into execution mode when it is finished running. To put the terminal server into execution mode from a command prompt, use the change user /execute command.
    Additional considerations
Some programs may require minor setup modifications to run correctly on a terminal server.
If you have programs that are related to each other or have dependencies on each other, you should install the programs on the same terminal server. For example, you should install Microsoft Office as a suite on the same terminal server instead of installing individual Office programs on separate terminal servers.
You should consider installing individual programs on separate terminal servers in the following circumstances:
The program has compatibility issues that may affect other programs.
A single program and the number of associated users may fill server capacity.
For more information about the change user command-line tool, see the Terminal Services Command Reference (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=89674).
For more information about deploying programs on a terminal server, see the Terminal Server page on the Windows Server 2008 TechCenter (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=79608).

  • Installing Acrobat Pro 9.2 in a Terminal Server Environment

    Hi everyone,
we're facing massive problems in our attempts to install Acrobat Pro 9.2 in a terminal server environment. It seems to be impossible to convert for example a .doc-file into a pdf via the adobe pdf-printer using a restricted user-account. It causes an "Access denied"-popup. We solved this subproblem by granting the user write-permission in the respective registry-key (HKLM\Software\Adobe). By now everytime we try, the application freezes after the "copy-status-bar" is filled. Using a power user instead of a normal user solves this problem. So the question is what's the relevant difference between the rights of those user groups.
    Thanks for your help!

You can also try to update your Acrobat by applying patches one by one.
to update upto latest version of Acrobat i.e 9.5, you need to apply the following updates
    9.3.0   download location: < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4605 >
    9.3.2   download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4654 >
    9.3.3   download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4695 >
    9.4      download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4851 >
    9.4.2   download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4931 >
    9.4.5   download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5118 >
    9.4.6   download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5237 >
    9.5     download location  < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5330 >
You can download the above mentioned patches from the corrosponding download link and apply one by one in same order as mentioned above.
This is  a bit lengthy process, but I hope you will be able to update your Acrobat.
    Thanks.

  • Running adobe acrobat on a terminal server & licensing purchase

Is it possible to run both the standard and professional versions of adobe acrobat (1 license of each) on a terminal server? Each version would be security locked down to the specific licensed user.
    Also
If you purchase adobe acrobat through licensing is it possible to purchase just one license or is there a minimum number of licenses that you can purchase? Is the better option for one license to purchase the boxed retail product?

You have a better chance to get a helpful reply if you ask in the Acrobat forum, or even at http://forums.adobe.com/community/licensing

  • Acrobat XI and Terminal server 2k8r2 x64

I found out that Acrobat or adobe no longer provides open licensing? So we were told to buy 5 copies with where each one can be installed twice.
Question: How do you install the software if each license is per user and not concurrent? and having to buy 5 copies, we have 5 licenses to install? How would you go about doing that if the first installation instance only gives you one time to enter in the license key?
Adobe support wasn't very helpful over online, and I have been waiting for 2 hours to get a call back from them.

What do you mean by Open licences? From your post I can infer that you want to install an instance of Acrobat on a terminal server and you would like to connect to the server using multple clients concurrently. For this I suggest you can explore the option of Volume licensing. Volume licensing provides the option of multiple activations per serial key whereas Retail licensing gives you only 2 activations per serial key. For Terminal Server/Citrix servers, you need to get volume licenses instead of the retail ones.
I hope I have clarified your doubts...
    Thanks,

  • Terminal Server - Opening & closing attachment freezes GW

    Hello,
we are running a Terminal Server Farm on Windows 2008 R2 with GroupWise 2012 SP2.
All of our users have problems when opening an attachment (PDF, DOC, XLS...) from a mail and closing the opened Application (Word, Acrobat Reader, Excel....). After closing the Application GroupWize freezes for some seconds. If you click anything in GroupWise in this time, GroupWise crashes.
You've to wait up to 10-15 seconds until you can do something in GroupWise.
Our Users are really "nerved" about this situation. This problem still exists an all of our Terminal Servers.
Any Ideas what we can do ?
    Regards.

This does feel more like a Windows/ Windows app (GW client or other)
issue, so I would certainly check the Windows event logs for any clues.
    - If you are at the primary console of any of the servers (i.e. Physically
at the box or vm equivalent), does the same problem still happen?
    - Doe the POA logs show anything when this happens? Especially if you turn
    up the logging to verbose.
    - Try disabling the anti-virus for a test in case it is part of this.
    - Make sure the TEMP folders are getting cleared periodically.
    - To eliminate the issue of crud collecting in profiles, setup a new user,
both GW and on the Terminal Server, and see if it can be reproduced with
    those ID.

    Hello,
    thanks for you're reply.
    - The Problem still happens on the "physical" console.
    - The Windows Event Logs does not show anything. It's only a freeze which
can take up to 10 seconds and more. After this time, GroupWise works fine again.
Most times it takes only a few seconds.
    - The Temp Folders are cleaned at logoff ("C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\xxxxxxx" ).
There are up to 4 GroupWise Directorys (XPgrpwise, XPGWSync, XpGWViews & XPNotify). They are not roaming.
    - I've tested this with an absolutely new created user. Same Problem.
    - Tested on an absolute new TerminalServer. Same Problem.
But what I figured out, if there are only a few users connected to the server, the problem is not noticeable.
The more users are connected to the server, the higher the possibility that this freeze problems occur.
I'm going to check the groupwise POA logs, but I dont think that there will be log entrys about this problem.
I've installed yesterday the groupwise client build 112764. I'm going to test today if the newer build
makes the same problem. At the moment there are not enough users logged in to test it.
    Kindest regards for your tips,
I hope we're going to figure out the problem :-)

  • Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server.

    Hi,
I was wondering about running Adobe Acrobat Std X (10) on a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server for two users. Anyone else that have any experience with this? Best solution?
    Best regards
    Vegard

Although Server 2008 R2 is a supported install platform, you'll have to be extremely careful about licensing - Acrobat is not a server product, so the only person who would be legally permitted to connect to it would be the one who owns the copy of Acrobat in question. Sharing a copy between multiple users is not an option; for that there are dedicated server-based solutions such as LiveCycle.

  • Adobe Reader 9 highlights text when scrolling in terminal server

Running a terminal server with WIndow 2003.  Have Adobe 9 Reader installed.  When a pdf is opened, it will look correct.  However, when one uses the scroll bar on the right to see more of the document, text can be highlighted and change colors constantly when scrolling.
Test it outside of terminal server and it works fine.  This issue did not happen with other versions of Reader.  I have attached two samples one clean and one highlighted.
    Any help is appreciated

Okay. Here is what I found. These settings are changed\saved under the User settings in the registry. Here is the key the changes are made to:
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Adobe Reader\9.0\Originals
When "NONE" is selected from Adobe Reader - Edit - Preferences - Page Display - Rendering, three DWORD values are added to the above mentioned registry key. These are:
    Value Name - Value Data
    *bAntialiasText - 0
    benableDDR - 0
    iAntialiasThreshold - 12*
I have added these lines to a login script that adds the necessary DWORD values to default the "Rendering" to NONE.
    *reg add "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals" /V bAntialiasText /T REG_DWORD /F /D 0
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals" /V benableDDR /T REG_DWORD /F /D 0
