Acrobat 6 Prof. will not open

I'm using an older version of Acrobat - 6.0. It used to open fine but now gives me this error message and will not open: The currently selected language resources are not supported by the current version of Adobe Acrobat. Please reselect the language in the International System Preference panel.
I'm using a Mac book pro. English is selected and has always been selected.
Any idea how to get it to open?

thanks

Subject: Acrobat 6 Prof. will not open
Acrobat 6 Professional came out in July 2003. It may not open in later
versions of Mac OS X. You should probably update to Acrobat 9 Professional.

• Adobe Acrobat 11 will not open files in IE 10.0.06

Adobe Acrobat 11 will not open files in IE 10.0.06. Problem started about 2 months ago. It can open older files on computer but cannot open or downloadd any from internet. Using Office 2010. Already spent an hour with my computer tech support under warranty. Please help identify issue. Thanks

As a web designer - IMHO, Internet Exploder is absolute garbage disguised as software. This (and thousands of other threads in this and many other forums throughout the web) is just more proof of that. I've used Firefox since 2002 when it was still called Mozilla. It does about a million things IE can't and won't, and does them better, faster, and more sensibly.
Microsoft KNOWS that most corporate workstations have Windows and most I/T departments forbid installation of unapporved software, including browsers, so (by a very slim margin) IE is still the most used browser in the world, but... that doesn't by any means make it the best choice. Because they know so many people are literally FORCED to use it at work, they will not make it more functional than they absolutely have to, because they don't care if people like it or not, when they have no other choice.
On a home computer, it's different, and that's why Firefox is just a fraction of a percentage point behind IE in worldwide use, and thanks to iPhones, Safari is rapidly climbing the numbers too.
Rather than trying to work around something that even Microsoft won't bother to fix, abandon their junk and go with Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari. It won't be long till you're glad you did.

• Acrobat 8 will not open on pc

Acrobat 8 will not open at all with no errors. we tried to fix. then tried to unload, then reload still the same problem. tried the ittools cleaner still no luck. Is this an authorization issues or any other suggestions, the reason we need 8 to work is we have plug-ins that only works on 8

HI There,
It could be an issue due to some corrupted or foreign fonts in your system:
Can you try the following steps to ensure if that is the case at your end as well?
1) Close Captivate and all other running applications.
2) Go to C\Windows\Fonts -- Copy the "Fonts" folder and paste it on your desktop (to have a back up).
3) Now, delete all fonts from "C\Windows\Fonts" directory, this would remove all fonts that are installed on your computer, it might prompt that certain fonts are necessary as applications are dependant upon them, so, skip these fonts.
You would be left with a bunch of necessary fonts after this operation., Now, attempt to launch Captivate again.
Note: Please make sure you keep a backup for all fonts on your desktop.
Regards,
Mayank

• Acrobat XI will not open in Safari

I just installed Acrobat XI but it will not open PDF documents on the web with Safari 6.0.5. I can open PDFs on my computer. Have been using Acrobat X and it worked perfecty. After installing XI from the Adobe Cloud, the first time I tried to open a PDF document on the web, I received a message that I must accept the user agreement. I can not find anyway to do this.

I thought I did that. The Acrobat Pro icon in on my dock but I do not see the EULA and can not find it on the menu bar.

• My Acrobat Pro will not open my PDF Files any suggestions?

My acrobat pro does not open, anyone else out there with the same problem?

Sherbear2359 (I believe that the US has the right to arm bears so I will be very nice.)
My Adobe Acrobat stopped opening pdfs. Now in the past it was Windows 8.1 playing tricks by thinking that the Adobe software was a trial which expired
Doesn't launch after 30 days | Installed as part of a CS6 suite Tried it and it worked.
Tried the fix again now no change.
I suspect that a Microsoft patch stuffed it up. They have had a few problems.
I used Reader with open with but I want pdf to be opened by Adobe.
Thanks

• Adobe Acrobat XI will not open

The recent install of Adobe Acrobat XI has not worked to date. I get a fail to open error when launched that says there is a missing .dll!
I will return with the dll but in the meantime I hope someone will help me. I have uninstalled my old Acrobat 7 Pro, Photoshop 7, Flash CS4, and InDesign CS2 so there would be no clutter. Now I have digital signage customers on hold and nobody from Adobe can be reached!

My Win 7 Ultimate OS tries to install it from the shortcut that was entered from the download and automatic install by AAM. Below is what I get.
I believe it was corrupted in the download and further corrupted by the first update that same day.

• Adobe Acrobat Pro will not open

I recently purchased and installed some programs from the creative suite on my computer. All worked well for a few months but now for some reason adobe acrobat refuses to open. I have tried using the "Open PDF with..." option as well as opening from the start menu. Nothing seems to happen; no error message or anything it just does not open.
I am running windows 7 64-bit os on a lenovo w530 laptop. The computer is almost new and lighting fast so it's not an issue of just being really slow.
I would uninstall, clean, and reinstall but I'm not sure where the install file is and I believe I installed all of the creative suite at once.
Anybody have any ideas?

• On linux, Acrobat Reader will not open files on SMB server

I try double clicking a file on a network SMB server in Nautilus on Ubuntu and Acrobat reader starts but does not open the file.
What's going on?
Alex

Hi Alex,

Just for confirmation, have you opened the Windows share in Nautilus directly i.e. using URL of the form smb://<server-name>/<share-name>/ and then trying to open the PDF file by double-clicking?
If that is the case, it is a known issue.

In the meantime, one way to open the PDF file (if you have sufficient privileges) would be to mount the SMB share, open the share (from the mount point) in Nautilus and then try to open the PDF by double-clicking?
Could you please try this and let us know if there are any issues with this?

Thanks for the feedback,
Varun

• I am using a Mac with OS 10.9, many of the Acrobat files will not open, I receive the following message:

Adobe Reader could not open 'Aeron_Chairs_adjustment_guide.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
This happens very often. Is there a setting I need to check? I downloaded the lasted version of Reader with no change when opening a Acrobat file.
Thanks

How do you tell the download to save to your desktop. Please tell us EXACTLY what you click, what it says, what you do, etc. The essence of the problem is that there is more than one way to do things, so we need to know just exactly what you are doing. Also, what app do you view your mail in.

• Acrobat XI will not open

Hi,
I recently purchased Adobe CC subscription for my 64-bit Windows 7 system. I have been unable to open either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro XI at all. I have tried repairing the program, uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat and nothing seems to be doing any good. I attempt to start the program, the processing icon starts and then after 5 seconds it cuts out and I am left puzzled and very frustrated. I have been using my browser to view PDF's as a workaround! Thanks for your help in advance!
Tim

Hi everyone,
I was able to solve the problem. All you have to do is Right Click > Run As Administrator. You can change the properties of the short cut to have Administrative Accessibility but then you still have to hit 'Yes' every time you launch either Reader XI or Acrobat Pro XI. I found a small workaround with a script called UAC Trust Shortcut 1.0 found at the following link:
http://www.itknowledge24.com/
This will automatically accept the UAC for a specified program. The only problem is I usually prefer to double click the specific PDF I wish to open first rather than opening the program first and navigating to the desired PDF. I guess I can't be too picky! Got them working!
