Acrobat 7.0 professional pdf binders issue

I have adobe acrobat 7.0 professional and this feature
stopped working:: to make a pdf of multiple files, like word docs.
it does compined many esisting PDFs into one binder, not like it
used to do to combine several mixed docments to a PDF binder. I had
my company IT dept reinstall, and I still get errors, to run in
repair mode, then still does not work.
OS: Windows XP;
Browser: IE
Already Tried:
IT look at and reinstall,

I just answered this question in http://forums.adobe.com/message/4251547#4251547. Basically you should be able to create a PDF (assuming you are not using a 64-bit system and then I have no clue), but not in the automated way you are used to doing. The first step would be to change the printer port for the Adobe PDF printer (assuming the driver got installed) to file. Then when you print or use PDF Maker, it will ask you for the file name. It will create a PS file (may have a prn extension) that you have to open in Distiller to complete the rest of the conversion. A bit of extra work, but workable. You are looking at a Win7 issue that has caused major problems for many software vendors, not just Adobe. The newer versions of Windows seem to ignore a lot of compatibility needs. Don't forget that with VISTA they had to add the help system back in because their own MS Office needed it.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 & iPad pdf reader issues

When I create/edit a pdf in Acrobat 5 and then send to my iPad, the pdf will be complete and correct.  When I create/edit the same pdf in Acrobat 9 Pro and send it to my iPad the pdf will be missing any data that I edited and the other text will be garbled.  This occurs when using both iBooks and Pdf Pro Reader by iTech Development to view the pdf file.  Is this an issue with Acrobat or with the pdf readers?  What is done differently in Acrobat 9 that might cause these readers to have issues?

So, it is definitely an embedded fonts issue.  But I'm still rather
confused with solving the issue.  When I use Acrobat 5 on this pdf, it
embeds a substitute font of Times New Roman for the Times Roman font, but when I use Acrobat 9 it is using some substitute font that is getting garbled in the iPad.  I am still playing and testing, but any additional ideas would be greatful.
I also talked to the developer of the PDF Pro Reader and they opened an issue with Apple regarding the fonts being garbled and also let me know that if I open the pdf on a Mac and save it it will look fine on the iPad.  This did work, but is not something I can use as a solution, since we do not have a Mac and are not looking to purchase one just to solve this issue.

  • Adobe PDF Port_Printer didn't install with re-installation of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.

A new Windows 7 OS was installed on my computer and I've had to re-load Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.  Everything loaded except for Adobe PDF Printer.  Error message: Warning 20225. Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Setup was unable to create a new item: Adobe PDF Port-Printer. The Adobe PDF Printer may be unavailable.      I'm using the original CD to set up Adobe.  Any idea on why I'm getting this message?

The first version of Acrobat to support Windows 7 is version 9.2 - so this is why you are encountering issues. To troubleshooting the problem, you might find this article helpful Error "Warning 20225" or no PDF Printer appears.

  • I was wondering how come my Acrobat 6.0 Professional Standard before I had no problem now when I use it it states the program has compatibility issues, I have windows 7 what can I do..it was working before

I am looking for help in correcting this issue... I had no problem before using my Acrobat 6.0 professional to create word documents to pdf...now when I go to use it there seems to be a problem
it states that the program has compatibility issues with window 7
    can anyone help please.

To expand on this, the PDF creation aspect of Acrobat  had to be updated to deal with changes in the Windows spooling system (for the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance) as well as to support 64-bit versions of Windows.

  • Can I make PDF from xlsx file with Acrobat 8.0 professional?

I'm using Windows 7 Professional (32-bit OS) with Microsoft Office 2007 Basic and have Acrobat 8.0 Professional. Newly installed on replacement computer (deactivated and reactivated license). Don't see PDF icon in any Microsoft Office software. Got great help in getting 8.0 added as a printer devise at SevenForums.com. But when I try to print (since I don't see the PDFMaker icon I'm going via PRINT), it gives me an "Error Printing" message. That got me to thinking and wondering if I can create a PDF using 8.0 Pro to convert these new style MSO file tags (xlsx, docx, and such)? When I tried to UPDATE, message said "There are no updates available at this time." I really don't want to update Pro to the 8.3 anyway mainly because when I had previously updated to 8.3, stuff just got a bit whacky. Any suggestions? Thanks for feedback.

Thank you Dave and Bill for feedback. I know that I'm using older technology with newer technology but for now that's what I've got to work with. I knew Acrobat would eventually stop supported AA8, so I've saved various update patches throughout the years. My earliest is AcrobatUpd814_all_incr.msp. Wondering if I can get earlier upgrade patch because am getting the below error message. Also, via periodic backup's I've noticed that I do have a lot of *.rtp (A_AcroForm_api_811.rtp and M_ACROBATPROFESSIONAL_8_0_HOMEPAGE_html4_810.rtp). Can I use this some how if I cannot find the earlier upgrade patches? Thanks, I know long shots.

  • I adobe acrobat 7.0 professional. When I open or save a PDF it reverts to Adobe Reader XI. How can I change that to the pro as it has far more editing options.

I adobe acrobat 7.0 professional. When I open or save a PDF it reverts to Adobe Reader XI. How can I change that to the pro as it has far more editing options.

You may want to keep Reader. You may want to select Acrobat as your default, but be able to click on a PDF (or PDF link) to open in Reader when needed. There are likely some PDFs that will not open correctly in AA 7 because of new features folks add. Just because it opens in Reader XI does not mean it is in the new format, but just that is the default opening you have. To tell the type of file, you have to open the PDF and check the properties (ctrl-D) and check Description>PDF version.

  • I have Acrobat 7.0 Professional loaded on Windows 7; No Printer & error msgs

I have Adobe Acrobate 7.0 Professional, loaded onto a new Dell Inspiron N5010 clone where I have Windows 7. I installed the Acrobat successfully, but the virtual printer does not show up as an available printer in my Devices & Printers.  Also when I click on the desktop icon for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, I get these error messages:   There was an error while loading the plug-in 'Accessibility.api'. The plug-in failed to initialize.  Then when I click on the OK button, I get another pop-up window saying:  There was an error while loading the plug-in 'AcroForm.api'.  The plug-in failed to initialize.  Then when I click on the OK button, I get a final pop-up window saying: There was an error while loading the plug-in Annots.api. The plug-in failed to initialize.  Anybody ever get this set of issues???, and if so....Help!  I would be ever so grateful.  I am worried that Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional is incompatible with Windows 7.  I know that if so, it might mean I need to buy 9.0.  Can I just upgrade?  Is that less costly?  Many thanks to anyone who can offer some advice.  ---DMN

Further to this original post ---  OK, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the program, to no avail.  I did however get a message which I had gotten before but since I was not yet aware that the program got installed with any problems, I had not noticed... This time I took notice.  The error message was clearly what it is about, at least to a great extent.  I got this message:  Warning 20225: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Setup was unable to create a new item:  Adobe PDF Port Printer may be unavailable.  GetLastError:  The operation completed successfully.  So then after the reinstallation, I went into Control Panel, Printers & Drivers and made a valiant attempt to manually install a virtual printer port.  I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional installed in another computer on which I have Windows XP Pro (yes the only other computer--  I am permitted two installations for this program--  I confirmed this with Adobe), by looking at Properties and copying down exactly the text, etc. which described the names of the two possible ports, etc.  Tried to "tell" my new computer (the one which has Windows 7) that it should set up and/or look for such a virtual port, again to no avail.  I am amazed that Adobe does not allow me to even pay cash money for tech support, but they wouldn't do it.  I guess you can have just so many employees who know the programs, etc.  Anyway, as I said before I may just break down and buy the 9.0 version which the Adobe techie told me is indeed compatable with Windows 7.  He did not tell me that Windows 7 was incompatible with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional but that 8.0 is indeed incompatible.  Just googled the term "Warning 20225" along with some relevant buzz words.  I can see there is still a bit of tweaking I may be able to do before I cry "uncle!"

  • How to remove file path location listings from photos and objects in Acrobat Pro 9.0 PDF?

After converting a windows-based Powerpoint 2007 presentation to an Acrobat Pro 9.0 PDF, the file path location of all photos and objects are shown in a dialogue box when the cursor is moved over the image as seen in this screenshot below. How can I stop this from happening and remove this feature on my pdf documents?

I saw that referenced on a forum, but it does not seem to address the issue I am having.
As per Adobe Acrobat X Standard * What’s new, the equivalent to the "Tools > Protection > Remove Hidden Information" utility found in Acrobat X Standard is the same as the "Document > Examine Document" feature in Acrobat Pro 9.0. Those tools seem to cover meta data, book marks, hidden text, and deleted or cropped content, but not the file path listings that appear on images and objects converted from Powerpoint presentations and other MS Office programs.
I have reviewed the settings used while creating a pdf, and have also tried the “Advanced > Preflight tool”, but could not find anything to apply to the issue at hand.
Thus, this issue has not been resolved, but seems like it should be an easy fix that anyone who publishes pdf documents would want to use to publish clean, professional documents without anyone seeing the file path location of every object and image shown in the document on their hard drive.

  • Creating Expandable fields in Abobe Acrobat 9.0 professional

    Hello,
I am in the process of converting a standard PDF file to a interactive one. The problem I am having is that some of the fields need to be expandable to accommodate needs of the application. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 to convert the standard form into a PDF file to PDF interactive file.
I have looked in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Professional but I have not been able to find any documentation on how to expand the fields in the 9.0 Professional version.
Can you tell me if the LiveCycle Designer has the ability to expand fields and if so how can I set up the document to create the expanded fields. I have reviewed the help documents but it not very clear as to how to go about accomplishing this task.
I have attache the form that I like to expand.
I would really appreciate some guidance in this area
    Thank you for your time
    Gary

    Hi,
    Yes, LC has expandaple fields.
First you have to make your field multiline
    Second - make it expand:
But you shaould remember tha field will be expanded only after you type smth in it and lost focus.

  • I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. Mac users can no longer read the page numbers but pc users can.

I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. As of about 2 weeks ago the mac users can no longer read the page numbers they get a font error message and see only -- where the page information should be. The pc users do not have this same problem. When I replace our regular font (URW Grotesk) with a system font (Verdana) everyone is able to read the page numbers. This is a new issues, I have been creating these documents in the same way for years without a problem. I have been on hold and on and off calls for the last two hours, I keep getting hung up on once I find someone in adobe support to talk to!

    Hi KnoopL,
Are the Mac users using Preview to view the pdfs or Adobe Reader?

  • Acrobat 9.0 Professional Runtime Error

    Hi There
I'm an IT support analyst at a large college trying to resolve this current issue with Acrobat 9.0 Professional
I have installed it on two machines on campus and i can't even get the program to load......... everytime the user click's on the icon it flags up with a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error"
Flags it up as the acrobat.exe which has the issue, when you look into the issue more it informs me saying their is an error with a specific .dll file "MSVCR80.dll". The current AppVer is 9.0.0.332 and ModVer 8.0.50727.4053. I have had a look on the forums to see if anyone else is getting an error like this and i cant seem to find anything in relation to this issue.
I have checked security permission's, cleared the users local profiles, rebuilt the machines and reinstalled it but keeps flagging up with the same issue. I dont know if anyone knows of this error or knows of a solution on how to get this resolved but any feedback at all would be grateful.
    Regards
    Mike

    Thanks for that SimonATS
Had a look and have resolved the issue thanks to your post, I ran adobe under an admin account (which allows access due to allowing permissions on top level) ran the updates under the "Help" tab and upgraded it to 9.2, then ran perfect !
If anyone else experiences this issue would suggest running updates, but if you cant run the program full stop ! would suggest SimonATS suggestion, that will get you back up and running

  • Acrobat 9 HTML to PDF conversion sets all checkboxes to checked?

When I convert an HTML file that contains checkboxes to PDF using Acrobat 9 Standard or Pro (fully updated) on Windows XP SP3, all of the checkboxes end up checked in the resulting PDF.  I've looked in settings menus but can't find anything that seems to be a relevant option to prevent this from happening.  I've attached a simple test case .html file to this post that you can use to repeat the problem.
To convert the file, I right-click on the file in Windows Explorer, and click Convert to Adobe PDF.  I've tried "printing" the document to the Adobe PDF printer, but that introduces other issues and is not really an acceptable solution.
Has anyone encountered this before, and/or have ideas how to fix it?

Input elements have no such inheritance on the checked attribute.  Furthermore, the input elements in my test case are not grouped together.  They are each encapsulated within separate list item elements, and so no inheritance should take place after the first input element.
Just for grins, I changed the order of the elements (moved the checked one below the unchecked one), but that did not make any difference in the Acrobat 9 HTML to PDF conversion.
I did test this with Acrobat 8 Standard, and the HTML to PDF conversion preserved the correct checked status of the input elements.  It looks to me like this is a bug that was introduced in Acrobat 9.

  • Acrobat 9.3.2 Pdf opening without data.  Is this a bug ?

In previous versions till Acrobat 9.3.1, opening a fdf file containing data would open the corresponding pdf with data already populated.
However in 9.3.2, pdf opens without data.  Below are steps to create sample Pdf and Fdf to reproduce the issue
    1.  Create a pdf file with 2 text fields and save the same.
    2.  Populate some data in them and generate the corresponding FDF by exporting the data from the menu Forms->Manage Form Data->Export Data.
    2.  Close the Pdf without saving.
    3.  Now double click the fdf created in step 2.  Pdf opens without the data.
    4.  Repeat the step 3 in Acrobat 9.3.1, Pdf opens with data populated.
Let me know how to attach my sample Pdf and Fdf as attachments are not allowed in this mail.
Has anyone else also experienced the same issue and whether this is a bug in Acrobat 9.3.2?

Glad it helped; (for any nit-pickers out there I should have typed 8.2.2, sorry).

I bought Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional a few years before, Will it still work? I have the serial number and CD.
Or do I have to pay monthly subscription to convert pdf to word, to use pdf reader etc?

You may or may not be able to install Acrobat 7.0 on a modern operating system.
Also, you can no longer activate Acrobat 7.0 with your original serial number; you need to download the installer and get a special serial number from this website https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.ht ml
