Acrobat 7 as commandline-tool

Hello,
is it possible, convert office-documents to PDF automated e.g. by execute acrobat professional as an command line-version?

I mean, are you looking to run this
* For a single user who owns Acrobat Professional and does their own
conversions
OR
* On a system which automatically converts files (found or delivered
somehow). Maybe on a server, maybe not.

can't it tell by the visual formatting of indents, text proximity/clusters, etc? if humans can tell, why can't acrobat be trained to tell?

Dtr commandline tool time out

hi,
i try to delete workspaces using the dtr commandline tool, e.g.
deleteworkspace -w //XSS6CU15/sap.com_SAP_ESS/cons/active/
for big workspaces like ess i get the following error
Could not delete workspace //XSS6CU15/sap.com_SAP_ESS/cons/active/. Communication error [cause: Read timed out]
does anybody know how to solve this problem? can this time out be configured somewhere?

Hello Heiko,
can you make a try to delete bottom-up to see whether this is a general communication problem or really only realted to large workspaces? Please also make a try to do the deletion using the dtr console instead of the dtr command line tool. You find it under: /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/com.sap.dtr.console (on unix you need to replace the ";" by a ":" in the run.bat script). The usage is pretty straightforward, and you can alsways refer to its built in help.

Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (Tools Bug)

The program will not allow me to apply the "arrow" design to any document. - Once drawn and released, it disappears. I have to draw one with the "contineous" line tool in order to make use of an arrow feature on every document.
Is there a fix for this Bug?

The problem is not solved. This is what i have tried.
Attempt 1.
Log-in as Administrator via "CRTL-ALT-DEL" twice at the Welcome window.
"Repair" Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installation.
Same failure as described earlier.
Attempt 2.
Log-in as Administrator via "CRTL-ALT-DEL" twice at the Welcome window.
Uninstall Acro XI Pro.
Run : acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_040612.zip
Log of "cleaner" shows deletion of very many, but ot all, Registry Acro-associated keys.
At end of uninstall and cleaner processes, re-start machine.
Log-in again as Administrator via "CRTL-ALT-DEL" twice at the Welcome window.
Disable Norton 360 and Webroot Secure Anywhere prior to Acro XI Pro installation.
Re-install Acro XI Pro (this time, for "Default" choice, as opposed to "Complete" in previous installs.)
Outcome: NO Adobe PDF printer. HOWEVER, both during the "Repair" and re-install processes, a message did flash: "Creating the Adobe PDF Printer".
Both Repair and re-install: The Adobe PDF printer is not listed under "Manufacturer" when "Add Printer" is executed (see image below).
Proceeding via "Have Disk", C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AdobePDF.inf, yields the failure to install the driver previously described, for all ten (10) instance of the Adobe PDF Converter options.

I have Acrobat 7 and the typewriter tool disappeared recently. Anybody knows how to get it back

In Acrobat 9 Standard, the typewriter tool controls; text
size, line spacing, and text color are grayed out.
Although I can use the typewriter tool, the text size and
color cannot be changed.

version?

EMET_conf.exe Commandline-Tool Bug when Executable is located on CD-ROM

The command line tool crashes if you configure a drive letter which is a CD/DVD-Drive (D: is a DVD-Drive):
Problem appeared with EMET version 4.1 installed on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit.

Acrobat XI Markup tools always initially locked.

Is there a way to unlock the markup tools so that they remain unlocked for an entire markup session? It us very cumbersome to have to unlock a tool for each use of the same tool on the same page. Does the automatically-locked tool feature serve a purpose? For me it is a major obstacle to productivity. If I select a tool by mistake, I have to unlock it even to remove it from the page. Ideal for me would be to be able to make the default setting on my computer to be "tools unlocked until I intentionally lock them". Second choice would be for the user to be able to make "unlocked" the default markup tool setting for a given document and user. As a minimum, I should not have to unlock each tool more that once during a markup session.

Thank you Gilad. It didn't work like that but here's what I did that worked:
1. Select a tool & place it on the document.
2. Right click on tool; select properties; click on locked in order to unlock; click on OK.
3. Right click on tool; select properties; click on "make current properties default".
4. Repeat for each tool.

Acrobat 8 : Hand tool by default using AxInterop.AcroPDFLib???

HI,
I've made a search in the forum, but nothing found corresponding to my problem...
I have made a win application using AxInterop.AcroPDFLib and Interop.AcroPDFLib to display pdf file on the screen.
This application runs on computers in a factory, and thoose computers does have a touch screen (thus, no keyboard and no mouse).
The pdf reader has been configured tu use hand tool instead of selection tool , in order to enable users to scroll the pdf when touching the screen and dragging the pdf file up and down.
BUT, sometimes, the pdf system (dll? reader?) seems to reset default value and thus, default behavior becomes selection tools instead of hand tools. This is a big issues for us, because someone needs to go to that computer with a mouse to set back the behavior to hand tool (big time lost)
Is there a way to "set" the behavior back to "hand tool" programmatically? or by using registry (i suppose values are stored somewhere).

Adobe Acrobat XI - Preflight tool - error List of CIDs missing in CIDSet of embedded CID font

Hello,
I am generating a PDF documents with use of Apache FOP where fonts are pasted to the document. I am getting an error "List of CIDs missing in CIDSet of embedded CID font" and I am curious. Since the cid is not found in the provided font how acrobat is able to find the correct character? I also run analyse which checks if all text in the file use embedded fonts and the result was fine.
Could you explain this behaviour?
What kind of problems may result from missing the cids?

So it is (how Bill@VT said) problem of generating the result pdf document. Does a font have to meet some requirements? Because I can see the characters in a font viewer but after embedding I see the error.
Also I would like to ask for correction and if I get righ how the correct character is found.
We work with TTF fonts.
1. For embedded fonts
pdf file contains table with glyf ID and glyf representation
pdf file contains cmap which maps Character code (unicode) and glyfID
during rendering a file finding correct glyf is clear since we have character code
2. CID fonts
pdf file contains table with glyf ID and glyf representation
pdf file contains CID table wich maps CID and glyfID ( CIDToGIDMap)
pdf file contains table which maps character code (Identity-H, Unicode) to CID
during rendering we have character code and we get CID
based on CID is looked up character metrics
based on CID is found glyf representation
Is here something what I am missing or I forgot to point out?

Is there an "Edit Object Tool" in Acrobat 11?

Is there an "Edit Object Tool" in Acrobat 11 that is comparable to the Edit Object Tool in Acrobat 10 and earlier versions? Has it been discontinued, or split into 2 loosely connected tools, the new Edit Text and Images Tool?
I love the new Edit Text Tool in Acrobat 11, but the old Edit Object Tool in Acrobat 10 and earlier versions was great when I wanted to resize a block of objects. The old Edit Object Tool would resize both text and graphic objects, but not everything like form fields, although there are limited workarounds like printing the file to pdf to flatten it and then resizing, but doing so will discard the form fields.
When using the old Edit Object Tool to resize a group of objects that contain text, it will scale the text in proportion to everything else in the selection. The new Edit Text and Images Tool in Acrobat 11 does not resize or scale the text. It does change the size of the text containers, but the text does not resize.
There are situations where it is valuable to resize a group of objects that contain both text and images, but I can't get the new tool to do it, or I'm not operating the tool correctly. Is this functionality gone in version 11, or am I doing something wrong or using the wrong tool?
I initially upgraded both of my laptop workstations from Acrobat 10 to 11, but have now gone back to running Acrobat 10 on one machine and Acrobat 11 on the other so I can realize the great new functionality of the new Acrobat 11 Text Tools without losing the valuable functionality of the Edit Object Tool in earlier versions.

Creating a Tools Separator in Acrobat X Toolbar

I have an Acrobat plug-in which, for Acrobat X, creates a custom toolbar with AVToolBarNew and then positions it on the Tools pane with AVAppRegisterToolBarPosition. As I have a lot of tools on this I would like to group them with tools separators just like Acrobat's Pages tools does with "Insert Pages" and "Edit Page Design" separators.
However, when I try to create a separator with AVToolButtonNew it does not appear in my custom toolbar whether or not I try to specify some additional text with AVToolButtonSetLabelText or any other options. Are these the right calls or do I need to do something else to get what I want?
