Acrobat 7 Creating PDF, doesn't prompt for filename

Hi!
I'm having a strange issue with Acrobat 7. I just installed it on a new computer, and when I print a file as PDF, it doesn't prompt me for a filename. I've check the option and it is set to ask for a filename.
How can I solve it?
Thanks
Christ

Well, I just found something very strange.
When we use our application to send a files to print in Adobe PDF, it doesn't work (doesn't ask for filename, but it save the file).
If I do it from notepad, it does work fine...
If I do it from an old computer that has Acrobat 6, it does works... I'm the only one who has Acrobat 7 (Since there was no more license, and that we still had a license for version 7).
I tried it on another computer (fresh install), it does the same thing..
I have no idea right now :S

  • Adobe acrobat-create pdf addon not compatible for firefox 37.2

    after I installed firefox 37.2, the previous adobe acrobat reader, viewer and pdf creator are suddenly unable to use. the error message is "incompatible with firefox 37.2. If so, please ask adobe whether they are able to tell me where to install the compatible addon.
    I would like to know how to update such addons. Or, maybe I should downgrade my firefox version to older ones just so I can use the addon. If so, please advise how to downgrade the firefox version.
    thank you.

    I can't tell what version of CreatePDF you have, but version 2.0 should still be working. I think version 1.2 stopped working a while ago.
    Your Adobe Acrobat plugin has a peculiar version number, according to your More System Details, of 15.7.20033. The expected value is 11.0.10.32.
    Could you investigate that further by typing or pasting '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and pressing Enter. This should load a long page listing details about your plugins. If you use the Find feature (Ctrl+f) to look for '''nppdf''' can you find an entry with that version number? Is it in an odd location? The normal location for Adobe Reader would be similar to:
    * C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll
    * C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Reader\Air\nppdf32.dll
    What do you find?

  • Acrobat 7 Pro - How to disable prompt for filename?

    I have a Windows XP Pro SP3 system with Office 2003 Pro and Visio 2002 Pro installed.
    I have an Access database that creates Visio 2002 files within the application. Within the Access database, i have the ability to print a single or multiple visio files at once.
    I have followed all the supposed steps to set Adobe PDF printer to dump directly to a folder.
    I have set Adobe PDF as my default printer.
    I have gone to Printers and modified "Adobe PDF" Preferences and changed "Prompt for Filename" and selected a folder that i created. As well as unchecking the show results in Adobe option. I've also made sure that this matches under Printer Defaults. I've even tried creating a folder first, and then adding an "Adobe PDF" port to see if that would work with no luck.
    What am I missing?
    I have tried configuring Adobe Distiller as well as the conversion options in the Adobe Toolbar in Visio with no luck.
    this wouldnt be a problem if i were just creating a handful of PDFS, but this database creates 50-100 daily so it would save myself alot of time to be able for Acrobat to name the file the same as the visio VSD file but as a PDF.
    Any help/tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

    If you are printing to a folder, the folder should contain PS files for each file and the option for filename is probably overwritten by the OS requiring you to specify the filename. With the Adobe PDF printer, you do not print to file, but to the default that is the Adobe PDF port. This port should automatically start Distiller to complete the conversion process - that is where the filename issue is used. The print process should be a one step process, not multiple steps.
    Try printing any file to the Adobe PDF printer and be sure the PDF creation process works, then start playing your other games. Right now it appears you do not have the PDF creation process working.

  • Turn Off Distiller Prompting for Filename on MAC like you already can on windows.

    I've posted about this before, but with no useful reaction. There is a documented feature in the Windows Distiller, that would be just as useful on mac, but doesn't exist there. In the Adobe documentation, it's called "Turn Off Prompting for Filename".
    In short, I'd like a way to stop the MAC distiller from showing dialogs that are not needed when controlling it externally, when the options 'ask for pdf file destination' and 'view pdf when using distiller' are turned on by the user, like this is already possible in windows.
    Below is a copy of my original post, with more details.
    Distiller brings up dialog while running from applescript
    Arnt Witteveen - 06:08am Dec 19, 2005 Pacific
    Hi,
    I've read DistillerAPIReference.pdf (and DistillerParameters.pdf) from the developer documentation, and I have not found a way to do what I need: 'override' the distiller setting to ask for the destination filename and to open the pdf in acrobat when it's done. On windows, this does not seem to be a problem, it's documented under "Distiller API for Windows", in the paragraph "How to Turn Off Prompting for Filename". Even better, when sending the command line "/V /O outfile.pdf /J joboptionsfile inputfile" using DM_CMDLINE and WM_COPYDATA, it doesn't seem to bring up the dialog or open it, which is just what I need (even though I see no reason why it doesn't).
    On Mac however, there is no such thing (in fact, the documentation for controlling distiller in this way on mac is very short: 5 mostly empty pages, explaning only that you can start and stop it and pass it a file to distill).
    So, how do I stop the mac distiller from showing dialogs that are not needed when controlling it externally, when the options 'ask for pdf file destination' and 'view pdf when using distiller' are turned on by the user?

    sorry, but the 2880x1800 is hardware; in fact what makes non-optimized sites look (relativly) ugly is that to upscale the graphics to the apparent resolution of everything else each pixel is represented by 4 pixels, and as you know being in graphics, upscaling pictures is generally results in ugly.
    Back to my point, there's no software to make the display lose 75% of its pixels; you'll either have to use another machine and/or wait for sites to optomize their graphics for the retina displays...which may or may never happen depending on the sites awareness/closeness with Apple's technology

    '''Problem Solved FINALLY !'''
    Solution:
    I just updated my '''Adobe Acrobat X Pro''' to '''Version 10.1.0'''.By the way, I have to complain, Adobe is really slow in solving this problem...
    Here is the official link for the Adobe Acrobat update.[http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135 <click me!>http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135<click me!>]
    After update, the extention changed from "Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0" into "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1". And the '''"Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1" is compatiable with the firefox 4.0.1'''. A screenshot is attached as a proof.

  • Crystal Report doesn't prompt for SAP credentials / errors out on refresh

    2 Environments tested with same results:
    <p>
    BOE XI 3.1 SP2 & BOE XI 3.1 SP2 FP2.5<br>
    SAP Intg Kit on mirrored SP/FP levels in each environment.
    <p>
    We've been successfully creating Crystal Reports against BEx queries in BW for months now as well as ECC master data.  We've also built universes and have WebI reports actively working against similar BEx queries in the same.  However, we're getting some curious behavior when we refresh the Crystal Reports against BEx queries in BW.  Verified all necessary transports and authorizations have been provided for both authoring, as well as refreshing/viewing on demand, etc.
    <p>
    We've setup all the Crystal Reports we're testing to:
    <p>
    a) Use custom database logon information specified here.<br>
    b) Specify a custom driver, leveraging the crdb_bwmdx driver<br>
    c) Prompt the user for database login
    <p>
    We have not enabled SNC as of yet.
    <p>
    1) When we refresh a WebI report hitting a BEx query with security applied, it doesn't prompt for the credentials, but we confirmed through tracing on the SAP side that if the user hits a paramater it has access to, the data comes through and when we hit a paramater they do not have access to, we can clearly see SAP reject it and it spits out a logical error on the BO side in InfoView and in the WebI logs on the BO server.
    <p>
    2) When we refresh a Crystal Report hitting ECC data, we are prompted for the SAP credentials and everything works as expected
    <p>
    However:
    <p>
    3) When we refresh a Crystal Report hitting a BEx query in BW, we are not promtped for SAP credentials.  We immediately get the "LOV" prompts.  Now, if we use a test user in SAP that has NO SECURITY restrictions at all and open access to the query, the data comes through.  However, as soon as any security is applied to the query level, even if it is SAP ALL, we cannot retrieve the data.  Tracing is also strange, as we can see on the SAP side it buffer the selected paramaters, but unlike with the WebI reports, it never shows it reaching the point where it checks each paramater against what the role has access to.  An error is then spit back.  We run the same queries with the same users within SAP and get normal behavior.  It's as though as soon as we apply security to the query the mdx driver doesn't like it.  Dependant on the type of InfoView viewer we use, the errors we consistently get on the BO side are:
    <p>
    Interactive Viewer: "Error in File %reportname%: Encapsulating Page Failed"<br>
    Java Viewer:  "Error in File %reportname%: Database Connection Error"
    <p>
    Nothing glaring in the event logs on the BO servers or in the Crystal logs that I can see, however just because it isn't spitting a specific error in the crystal logs doesn't mean I'm not missing something because I don't know what to look for behavior wise. To reduce the liklihood that it has to do with the way the report was built, we've tried against the same query by building a report using standard methods, as well as the SAP Toolbar using a very plain jane report.  Same behavior.
    <p>
    Thoughts?

    I have the same problem for a couple of months, and I had to use a plug-in in Firefox to print a web page. I really need the web page address in the footer for reference purposes which Chrome print (Ctrl+P) does not produce.
    The error message is: A supported version of Acrobat could not be found. Please install or update Acrobat to 11.0.9 or higher."
    After updating to Acrobat 11.0.10 and repairing the installation the problem did not go away.
    Deleting and re-installing the extension did not help either.

  • Prompt for Filename Upon Printing as PDF Not Working

    I have an intermittent problem when printing Word documents as PDFs.  I am using Windows 7 Professional, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, and Word 2010.  This problem started occuring only very recently; previously I was able to print Word documents as PDFs without issue.  The current problem is that about half of the time that I attempt to print as Adobe PDF, I do not receive a prompt for the filename and location of my PDF document.  Instead, a tooltip bubble pops up in on my system tray with the Adobe symbol, telling me something to the effect of "your PDF has been created as k3r5pt.tmp."  The other half of the time I receive the normal prompt to save my file.  It does not appear to be specific to certain documents, as after this problem occurs I try again with the same document (after changing nothing) and it prints normally.
    I have checked my preferences by going to Devices and Printers->Adobe PDF->Printing Preferences->Adobe PDF Settings and choosing "Prompt for Adobe PDF filename" in the Adobe PDF Output Folder drop-down menu.  This has always been the setting and it still is.  I am not certain where these .tmp files are being sent to or why they are being created at all.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated so that I can print my PDFs successfully every time.

    Unfortunately updating the Distiller settings did not help.  PDFs are still printing to .tmp files periodically.  It isn't just from Word either; I've also noticed that it happens with PDFs as well.  For example, when viewing a 50+ page PDF document online I chose to print one of the pages from the middle as an Adobe PDF, and it notified me that my .tmp file was created.
    By the way, I haven't been changing printer properties from within an application; I change them from the Devices and Printers menu.
    I've been able to locate where the .tmp files are being sent:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp
    This is frustrating.  It seems to be happening despite all settings to the contrary. I just can't figure it out.  I'm reluctant to delete the printer and try to re-add it, because I don't have administrator priveleges on this computer (it's my work computer).  I wish I could give you guys more information.

  • PDF Printer stopped prompting for output filename

    I use the Adobe Acrobat PDF Printer to create PDFs from a variety of applications. My version of Acrobat Pro is 10.1.6. The printer is configured to prompt me for the output filename, but never does. It used to work, but I can't figure out what has changed. I have done a repair of Acrobat, and even went so far to uninstall and reinstall.

    Turns out to be an OS problem. I cannot print to my HP printer either! (And this is after rebooting.) Oh well. Off to the Mac forums for assistance. Thanks anyway for those of you who looked at this.

  • The Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.0 extension/Firefox extension indicates it is not compatible with Firefox 24.6.0 ESR.  Where could I obtain a more up to date extension for Acrobat X Pro 10.0?

    Hi - I am running Acrobat X Pro 10.0.0 on my Windows XP Pro SP 3 (32-bit) laptop and Firefox 24.6.0 ESR.  When I check the add-ons manager of Firefox I am receiving notication that the Acrobat X Pro - Create PDF 1.0 extension is incompatible with Firefox 24.6.0 ESR.
    Is it possible to obtain a more up to date Acrobat X Pro - Create PDF extension please?
    Thank you and kind regards.

    Many updates to 10.0.0 are available, so this is the first thing to try. I don't know if it will help, but there are vital security fixes there too.

  • Remove unwanted Adobe Acrobat Create PDF Add-on

    I just can't believe Mozilla allows this!
    I installed Acrobat XI Pro for Mac and without my permission Adobe installed a Firefox add-on called "Create PDF". I can't uninstall, remove or delete it. I can only disable it. It's the only add-on that has no remove button. How can this be?
    I also can't find the extension itself, in order to delete it. I tried everything, but the damn thing just can't be deleted.
    I'm very disturbed that something like this is possible! Is Adobe paying Mozilla?

    Unlike with Extensions and Themes (complete) the Plugins like Java, Flash player and other Adobe examples and such are not actually installed in Firefox but are on system. Firefox just scans and found compatible Plugins and is making use of them. This explains why there is no Remove button and only Activate/Deactivate which tells Firefox to make use of that Plugin on system or not.
    See in '''about:plugins''' where they are located.
