Acrobat 7 Professional Output Preview Preferences

I think the new "Output Preview" tool in Acrobat 7 Professional is GREAT! Especially the ability to check "Total Ink Coverage".
But, what I would like to see is the ability to set a preference for this tool. Seems it always defaults to 280. In our shop we are perfectly able to handle 320, so it would be nice to set it up to that instead.
The tool seems a wee bit buggy when switching totals sometimes.
And could Adobe also add this "Total Ink Feature" to inDesign CS as well.

Agreed again. I work for a newsprint publisher, and it's a pain to have to reset 280 to 240 over and over again for each page or file opened. Either a way to remember last setting or reset the default would be much appreciated.

  • Acrobat 9 + Output Preview

In Acrobat 9 I noticed something confusing. I had a pdf file which had black text on a background. I opened this up in Acrobat 9 and went to check to see if the black text was set to overprint. Going to Output Preview I turned off the Process Black separation and it showed me that the black appeared to be overprinting. I then turned off the Simulate Overprint check box and the background showed the text to be knocking out. Under the Color Warnings preview I used it to show me all the overprinting elements and it verified that the Black Text was overprinting. I assumed that Simulate Overprinting would show me what the picture would look like if the black text was not set to overprint. Instead it's deceiving me making me think that the black text is knocking out when I turn this off.
In Acrobat 8 the previews appeared correctly or what I assumed in my mind as correct. Is this feature working correctly in Acrobat 9 and if it is can you explain the thought process behind what is happening?

In Acrobat 9, you might have noticed that overprint preview has been removed from the menu items under Advanced > Print Production. The "Simulate Overprinting" checkbox was added to output preview so that we can still temporarily "turn on/off" the simulation of overprinting appearance (rather than have to change preferences), largely for troubleshooting or further examination of a document. Turning this off is like turning off overprint preview (which simulates overprinting appearance). It's not actually turning off the overprint flag itself, so color warning is still highlighting the black text.
Output Preview always enables overprint preview regardless of what your preferences are (in earlier versions, this includes your menu selection). You were unable to turn off overprint preview whenever output preview was open. In 9, the checkbox allows you to turn off that simulation.
Overprint Preview can still be controlled in display preferences.
I hope this helped. If not, please give more info about what you are expecting to see.

  • Problem with creating PDF in Photoshop, or Acrobat Output Preview

I saved a PDF in Photoshop and Acrobat's output preview the text was black in 4 colors and Rip did not have this problem. Why?

You have gone a while without a reply here, so I'll bump your post at least, but it is not clear from your question exactly what your problem is.
'Black in four colors'   I don't understand this statement.  Black is black and does not have colours.
'Rip'  I don't know what you mean by Rip.
One tghing that comes to mind is that if you have exported a large layered document to PDF and that document had vectored objects like Type layers, whenn you view the PDF file you might initially see those vectored objects in black while the system is catching up and rendering the type layers etc.  In that case, just waiting will see it corrected, but a 3550 x 8800 pixel banner file I delivered to a printer recently, took ages to render on the printer's slow system.
If you expand on your problem, I amn sure someone will try and help.

  • Acrobat 9 Separations Preview.

    Acrobat 9 Output Preview.
Just got the new CS4 and when I use the output preview (Separations Preview) in Acrobat it shows the 100% black text to be a CMYK mix (as if the file was RGB but it is not)
I am a printer and I use this separations preview function continuously all day.
The file is fine I look at it in Acrobat 8 it's just 100% black and in indesign its just 100% black
Simulation Profile= US Sheetfed Coated V2
    Show= All
It has to be a color management issue but
    Color management settings are
    RGB= Adobe RGB (1998)
    CMYK= U.S. Sheetfed Coated V2
    Grayscale= Dot Gain 20%
    Any help?

    Problem Solved but Thanks!

  • Acrobat X Pro Output Preview

I just upgraded to Acrobat X Pro and I'm running it on Max OS X 10.5.8. When I click on the check boxes of the color separations in the "output preview" it doesn't do anything. Instead I have to hold down the mouse button for a extened period of time, let go and then it will work. I do prepress work and I use the color separations in "output preview" to make sure blacks are truly going to be black. I go through a number of pages in a day and having to hold down the mouse button, instead of just clicking the checkbox can be time consuming. I have never had this issue with Acrobat 9 or any previous versions. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
I found a thread similar to my issue, but the suggestion was to increase the double click speed in the preferences, this did not help.

I also have to make sure gray images are real gray not cmyk gray. Is there a preflight for that?

In the PReflight tool there is a checkup that can automaticaly control black texts, this is less time consuming than doing it manually…;-)

  • Output Preview not working in Acrobat Pro 8

    Hi,
I'm trying to check a PDF document for CMYK and all that before it goes off to the printers and Acrobat Professional 8's Output Preview has stopped working for me - the separations list has vanished. Basically, when I open the Output Preview toolbar, I get options for Simulation Profile, Simulate Black Ink/Paper Color, the "Show" menu, a button for Ink Manager (which isn't working either) and then the Preview: Separations/Color Warnings box. There's absolutely no option for showing and hiding different colour channels, though it's worked completely fine in the past. Help?
And apologies if this is a stupid question.

I think I'd uninstall Acrobat (there should be an Uninstaller in your Acrobat folder inside the Applications folder). Then reinstall the application.

  • Problems with output preview in Acrobat

Hello, I placed a pdf form I created in Adobe LiveCyle Designer in Acrobat 8 professional. I could see everything on the form, when i go to output preview I am unable to see my type that was in the fields. Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

    Hello Brandy,
I tested it and the typed in text appears to display properly.
Have you tried this PDF on another computer?
Are you using Acrobat to preview or just a PDF reader... (if the later, which version? you may wish to update).

  • Acrobat 9 Standard missing Output Preview in Advanced...

    Hi,
I find it weird that I can't find the Output Preview option on acrobat. I go to Avanced>Print Production>Acrobat Distiller???
Don't have a clue what Acrobat Distiller is, so I try going into Tools. Nothing. Then I try bringing up the Help and even that doesn't want to come up.
Does Acrobat 9 even have an Output Preview? I need to use it for checking CMYK pantones and such. After Google searching I'm desperate

    I'm having the same problem...
    Acrobat v.9.4.5
I go to the 'Print Production' menu and the only thing on the menu is 'Acrobat Distiller'
Where is Output Preview and all the other options? Where have they gone?
This is driving me nuts - can anyone please help or suggest a reason why? The only other Adobe application installed in Acrobat Reader X. Machine is running XP Pro. Everything is fully updated.
    Thanks.

The "Total Area Coverage" warning will not display on screen. Also when I hover the cursur over the PDF I am no longer see percentages under the ink color Preview > Separations. Does anyone know of a quick fix so I don't have to keep going back to an oldere version of Acrobat?

  • Output Preview Crash in Acrobat Pro 9

We have recently purchased 2 new 24" iMacs running X.5.5. We also upgraded 2 licenses of CS3 to CS3.3. We are also running Heidelberg's PrintReady P and Enfocus Pitstop (Pitstop currently in demo mode until we finish testing the system and deactivate the licenses on the systems to be replaced).
Whenever either machine clicks on Output Preview to look at separations, Acrobat 9 beachballs and crashes, regardless of menu or button.
Both machine and software are fresh installs.
Also having some issues with InDesign, but I'll post those where appropriate. ;)
    Thanks!
    Ed.

Jon, you were on the right track, but the wrong plugin (we are using the latest Pitstop).
Turns out it was Heidelberg's Acrobat 8 plugins for PrintReady P/Prepress Manager that were the culprits. I wish to thank Adobe phone support for their help and patience of reminding me of the days of Extension Manager. ;)
    Again, you all rock.

  • Acrobat X Pro crashes when I open Output Preview

I'm trialling Acrobat X Pro on Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit (why is the trial not available for Mac?) and every time I open Output Preview in a 6 colour file, with a Hexachrome Output Intent, the whole application crashes? This used to happen in v9 but I thought it had been fixed in X.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you updated to the latest point update for Acrobat - 10.1.3?

  • Acrobat X and XI and Output preview

User had CS 6 installed with Acrobat X on her mac workstation. also installed Adobe Cloud with Acrobat XI. Once the install of Adobe Cloud was complete, the user was having issues with her Output Preview screen. The Simulation Profile field defaults to Adobe RGB (1998), though she continues to chance to GRACol 2006. I uninstalled Adobe Cloud and Acrobat XI, but the problem persisted. I uninstalled CS6 and Acrobat X. I reinstalled CS6 and Acrobat X but the issue with Output Preview still existed. My thought is a setting file on the workstation is causing the continual problems with the Outlput Preview information. Has anyone experienced this and found a  workaround? There is info on the web that indicates it is a bug with Cloud but no workarounds.
    Thanks

  • Can't Print a PDF (either in Preview nor Acrobat Professional)

I can print word docs, emails and other things, but not a pdf file. This is really strange and just started to happen recently. I have a (2) HP Printers, a Color Laser and an All-In-One and each stops the printing queue. I've looked over a bunch of posts, but no luck on finding a solution. I have tried both Bonjour as well as direct IP to the printer.

    hallo to everybody.
I would like to add my problems into the chain of questions.
since update to 10.4.11 (and maybe the installation of vmware fusion ??)
i cannot print simple text-pdfs on my new hp laserjet p2015n anymore. the prints are either empty or off-center. i have tried everything from reinstallation of the drivers, changing the usb port, advice from the hp website, caalling hp who told me the printer was allright, printing from acrobat professional, acrobat reader, preview, converting to a pdfx-3 document and even printing as a bitmap without any result.
who can help me? thank you very much!!

  • Acrobat DC and XI different Output preview; same setting on the same machine

    Hello,
I've got an question regarding Output preview
My sample PDF does have different output preview values on Acrobat DC (100% Black) and Acrobat XI (CMYK values)
Both use the same setting (Euroscale Coated v2), doc has no PDF/X output intent
Still..... it's strange that on one Mac the PDF does look different....
    What's going wrong?
    Kind regards

Numerous fixes went into color display on MacOS for Acrobat DC as well as in Output Preview in general. That having been said, I don't recall any changes that would have resulted in the phenomena you are seeing.
I assume you were clicking on the “black” circle to get you sample color values? And what do you believe should be the correct values? CMYK=(0,0,0,1) or CMYK=(0.8,0.64,0.67,0.75)?
If you can post a copy of this file, we can examine it to see what is going on.
