Acrobat 8.0 Keeps Running the installer

I recently upgraded from Acrobat 6.0 to 8.0. I logged into my administrative Windows XP account to do the install. It worked fine. I usually run as a limited user for security reasons. Just about anything I do in my limited session with Windows Explorer (My Computer, etc) causes the Acrobat installer 8.0 to pop up and attempt to do an install. I've let it complete a number of times. I usually cancel it at which time the Windows explorer function I invoked shows up (usually it is a right click on a icon in Window Explorer). I have used Acrobat 8.0 Standard edition many times as a print driver and opened the user interface to scan in documents and modify documents. It is working fine. But it seems to interfere with Windows Explorer all the time.
I asked Adobe about this and their response was the Acrobat requires Administrative privileges to work (demonstrably false) and that they don't support that. So I'm hoping that some user has been through this and knows what to do or some user more clever than I can suggest something useful. Thanks ahead of time.

Sounds like you need to uninstall 8 and re-install 9.
