Acrobat 8.0 keeps wanting to install itself.

Since download
ing some Adobe upgrades, Acrobat 8.1.3 keeps wanting to install itself. This is weird also because I already have Acrobat 9.0 installed. Does anyone have any suggestions? I called Adobe and they said they don't support 8.0 anymore.
Thanks.

Sounds like you need to uninstall 8 and re-install 9.

Thanks for your help Jeff. When I put serial# in, it won't except it.... I think it wants to see a previous version in my pc because my serial is for an upgrade, but when it put in a serial# for version cs5 it still wont except. Do you think i have to install cs5 first (which is also an upgrade).. which will require that I put in version cs4 etc,.etc., etc.
Do you know how I can get into an chat with Adobe.Thats what i had to do last time I installed CS6 in my desktop PC.

  • Bing Bar 7.0 (KB2626804) Keeps trying to install itself on my HP and Fails.

Hello, I have upgraded my system to Windows 10 Pro, and ever since it has been trying to install the Bing Bar 7.0 and failing. I dont need it. Dont have it. Didnt have it on my Windows 7 Pro. So I have no idea why it is trying to install it on my system. I have looked everywhere on my computer, and it is not in the programs to be installed. I have even looked in all of my browsers, to make sure that it wasn't hidden in any of those. It isnt. So I did a DxDiag on my system to see what it had to say, and when it uploads and fails, the Diagnosis says: +++ WER2 +++:

  • Roxio Media Manager - It keeps trying to install itself

    Hi Everyone,
Roxio Media Manager continuosly tries to install itself and it won't go away.  I tried to uninstall it but a window pops up that states Windows Installer is running.  I tried to force quit the installer and/or Roxio, but I don't see anything in the processes panel.
I tried running registry cleaners, tried an aftermarket uninstaller program... nothing has worked.  What's worse, the Windows Installer window keeps popping up and interrupts everything I'm trying to do on the computer.  I can't even let it go in the background and ignore it.
Not only that, but it is also bogging down the processor immensly.
Everywhere I look on the internet, people keep suggesting a windows clean up utility from the Microsoft site, but that download is no longer available (apparently it too was causing problems)
The only other suggestion was http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/898890.htm and recommended that I download & reinstall "Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B73 Multilanguage with Media Manager", but that file is obsolete now and is no longer on the RIM site.
I'm at a total loss for what to do next.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Rob

  • Firefox keeps wanting to install ver.17, i let it and it stalls on 'checking now for add on cooperation', this may take a few min.', it stays over an hr, not mo

ugh......firefox has been wanting to install 17.01 or 17.04, can't remember which number, it bugs me and bugs me until i say o.k. i'll update my version. so i let it, it has to restart my computer,, then it says just a minute firefox is checking your addons for comparison, or whatever the 'f' it says, then a box comes on and a scrolling horizontal line goes back and forth like its working and the bottom says, this may take a few minutes. well, i wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and........nothing. i can't cancel it i can't x out of the box...i've let it do it for over and hour and it does nothing.....so i have to use internet ex. i've redownloaded firefox from there to try it from scratch and same thing happens, if I say cancel to the box right away it stops then nothing and i can rehit the firefox button and it will load firefox. but never fear....another box comes up later and says you need the latest version of firefox....man if the system on your end isn't working, can't you guys see this? I'm disappointed that you have sold out not too long ago too. and the ads and slowness and privacy is becoming more of an issue

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.

  • Adobe digital editions keeps trying to install itself,

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, my OS is a fresh install (3 weeks old). At random times during computer use, adobe digital editions attempts to install itself (even though it is already installed) and then multiple error messages spawn saying 'an instance of adobe editions 4.02 installer is already running'. Sometimes this will spawn 20+ error messages even if I immediately hit the cancel button on the installer.
I've gone through my entire computer and deleted every instance of the editions installer exe, checked my startup in msconfig, ran malwarebytes; spybot; security essentials; emptied temporary files; uninstalled digital editions and tried installing using the prompt.
The prompt seems to occur more often after starting my computer up, sometimes I will receive a chain of 3-4 separate instances in the first 5-10 minutes of boot. But the installer does then also randomly occur during regular computer use, even when idle. This is becoming incredibly frustrating as it the installer forces my screen to itself, dragging me out of whatever program i was using at the time.
Any help would be much appreciated, please let me know if I can provide more information in solving this stupid issue.

Well I found my own solution, it may help you as well. When I got the install error, I opened up task manager and switched over to the 'processes' tab. I selected one of the instances of the error, right clicked and hit 'open file location'.
This took me to the file within my windows user folder, which seemed to be some partially installed temp file. Delete that file (shift+delete) and the stupid problem should go away.

  • How do I stop an add-on that wants to install itself?

I'm going to answer my own question, because I found the solution, and wanted to share it with other users. I have a program that wants to install an add-on (a toolbar in this case). Every time I start Firefox, it opens a tab that tells me "Another program would like to modify Firefox". My choices are to install it or not allow the installation. However, if I don't allow the installation, it comes back the next time I start Firefox. It's really frustrating.

Okay, so here's my solution. I went to the Add-ons manager and selected Plug-Ins. I found the program that wanted to install the toolbar on the list, so I changed its setting to "Never Activate".

  • Problem with Acrobat 8.12 keeps trying to install Japanese Font Pack

I have a client who received a pdf file and when she opened it she was told that it needed the Japanese Font Pack. I gave her admin rights but it still keeps doing it. My pc with the same setup works perfectly fine with the offending file. Now everytime she opens any PDF it tries to open the offending file first and load the font pack. I was able to go into the registry and remove the keys that mention the file and Acrobat works fine as long as we do not try and open that file again. We have installed the font pack separately. The offending file opens fine in Reader. Any idea why this would keep happening and if there is a solution to stop it from happening. Thank you.

Actually, since I started getting the security warning, I haven't tried it on another machine. You think this information might be only stored on my machine? It's worth trying... Thanks!

  • Blackberry Link keeps wanting to install the same upgrade that is already installed???

Anybody know how to get Link to quit trying to install the same upgrade?

Sometimes it can be because you might have deleted one of stock apps pushed by your mobile provider, or because you deleted the twitter or facebook application.
If you have, let it reinstall and then just move those apps you don't want to see to a folder on the homescreen.
Or, it could be because Link and updates can just be buggy at times.

  • 10.10.2 keeps wanting to install but it won't let me

Last night when I left the computer, I left 10.10.2 to install.
When I returned this morning, the App Store had prevented the logout, because one of the updates got updated again or something (it was only 10.10.2 and Remote Desktop that needed updating).
I cleared the error and rebooted.
The app store told me that despite the updates being applied last night, they still need to be installed.
So I waited and waited and waited, an 10.10.2 never completed the download.
So I'm thinking I'm a pretty smart guy. I open Terminal and type in sudo software update --install --all and let it go.
Remote Desktop downloads fine. 15 minutes go buy, and 10.10.2 updater still hasn't completed the download. Internet speed is just fine, so I try again. Again Remote desktop downloads fast, but 10.10.2 never completes the download.
So I head on over to support.apple.com and download the 10.10.2 combo updater.

  • IP4: Itunes keeps wanting to install IOS 7.1.2 when is already done updated

Hi, I have an IPhone 4 which I am trying to restore back to factory settings via Itunes.  Every time I try to follow the restore process of itunes, it tries to install IOS 7.1.2 and shows it as needing 3 hours.  The thing is that my phone shows as software updated and 7.1.2 and if I hit the 'check for updates' on itunes it also shows as being updated and on 7.1.2.  Any ideas.  I have done the full reboot of the phone and restarted itunes (red)

Update:  I found that you can 'delete' the iphone on the iphone, which has done the trick.

  • Unknown video player wanting to install on Safari

Twice now, I've had a dialog box open in Safari telling me there is a new video player that wants to install itself, and it will not let me close the box or change web sites.  The only way to get rid of the message seems to be force quitting Safari.  I was not visiting a site which requires a video player.
There is no name associated with this video player.  Might anyone know what's up with this?  I am using Safari 5.1.10 and OS 10.6.8.
    Thanks.

It's a malicious web page created by imbeciles who are trying to find and victimize the few people on earth even more stupid than themselves — a difficult task.
Some of those scam threat pages can be dismissed very easily. Press command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up with more illiterate, childish threats. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.

  • Purchased Acrobat XI Pro want to install on device #2. have SN will not let me register because the product is not on my computer, but it is installed on my computer

On 2/25/15 went online and purchase Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. Installed on my first device no problem. Have a new Surface Pro 3 and want to install a copy on it. Very confused because there is no "accurate" instructions on the site where to download again. Everything link is pointing towards a purchase, not how to download a product you have already purchased. I did download the software from the creative cloud free trial and its on my Surface Pro 3 now. Tried to register with the SN from my purchase last week (because I can have 2 devices) but it does not recognize the version of the software on my device and will not accept the SN to complete the registration.

So I guess that was lucky on my part, but is potentially an issue for you. If you bought a copy for each OS, then you have 4 installations you could use for yourself. I have asked before and never gotten an answer of why the MAC and PC S/Ns are different. It would be great to have the same S/N for both systems to ease situations like yours. I seem to remember hearing that the Adobe folks may have a solution for that, but like everything else it is probably hard to find, if it exists.
