Acrobat 8.0 Professional - program closes spontaneously

Recently upgraded a PC to xp sp2 and installed Acrobat 8.0 professional.
When opening the program it opens for about a minute then closes. No error, don't even have to open a file....it acts like it is timing out. I have ran the repair, uninstalled and re-installed.
there are no erros in the eventvwr regarding Adobe.....
any ideas of other places to look?
tia

I have applied the latest 8.1.2 updates.
We get no errors or indication that anything has gone wrong...it just closes whether opening a pdf, or just opening the program. sometimes it stays open for 90 seconds, sometimes just 30 seconds.....

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional Suddenly Closes

I just reinstalled Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional on a new XP SP2 machine and I have never been able to get it to stay open longer that about 5 seconds before it closes with no error message. I reinstalled it a few times, no luck. I've installed the acrobat upgrade, no luck. I had no problems with the install. I do not have any other adobe product installed. I do not have a virus program running.
I've seen solutions to this for those with ver. 8 running Vista. I have neither.
    Thanks

    Have you "activated" your software?
That could be your problem if you haven't.

  • Hi I've just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion now Quarkxpress 6.5, Adobe creative suite CS2, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional and Microsoft Office 2004 will nolonger open. Can anyone please advise me what I can do to get these programs running.

Hi I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Now my installed programs:- Quarkxpress 6.5 - Adobe creative suite CS2 - Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional and Microsoft Office 2004 will not open - I get a banner saying not supported by power mac. Can anyone please help me I really need these programs for my work. Thank you!

    hi tuggerose
i think it is bad new for you. if it's any consilation i went through the same thing when i loaded mountain lion when it first came out. i think the problem is that mountain lion is a pure 64bit operating system and the software you have is 32bit. earlier os's were able to emulate 32bit but the new system does not. the answer is new software. i did it and it cost me a load of money and much angst so your not alone.

  • I was wondering how come my Acrobat 6.0 Professional Standard before I had no problem now when I use it it states the program has compatibility issues, I have windows 7 what can I do..it was working before

I am looking for help in correcting this issue... I had no problem before using my Acrobat 6.0 professional to create word documents to pdf...now when I go to use it there seems to be a problem
it states that the program has compatibility issues with window 7
    can anyone help please.

To expand on this, the PDF creation aspect of Acrobat  had to be updated to deal with changes in the Windows spooling system (for the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance) as well as to support 64-bit versions of Windows.

  • MSIPVS closes spontaneously when tuned to channel 31

When I tune my TV@nywhere Master to channel 31 (cable,) MSIPVS closes spontaneously.  No big loss for me, Channel 31 is Home Shopping Network. I can restart MSPVS and it would pick up the last station before tuned to channel 31 without other ill effects. The card works perfectly otherwise.
    Any ideas? TIA
    My system:
Motherboard: ECS K7S5A, APIC enabled with 24 IRQs
    Processor: AMD Athelon XP 1700
    500MB (PC2100)
    Video card: ECS SIS315, 64 M
    Windows XP professional, SP1
    MSI TV@anywhere Master

This strange behavior appears to have been caused by a corrupted installation.
Previously, I have uninstalled and reinstalled MSIPVS several times without seeing any difference.  The uninstallation process apparenently left bits of the program behind as evidenced by the fact that the channel identifiers that I entered remain unchanged.  During the latest reinstallation, I found that the channel identifiers were wiped out together with the strange channel 31 behavior.  I do not know, however, what I did differently from the previous unintallations though.  Just glad that MSIPVS is now behaving the way it is supposed to.

  • I have Acrobat 7.0 Professional loaded on Windows 7; No Printer & error msgs

I have Adobe Acrobate 7.0 Professional, loaded onto a new Dell Inspiron N5010 clone where I have Windows 7. I installed the Acrobat successfully, but the virtual printer does not show up as an available printer in my Devices & Printers.  Also when I click on the desktop icon for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, I get these error messages:   There was an error while loading the plug-in 'Accessibility.api'. The plug-in failed to initialize.  Then when I click on the OK button, I get another pop-up window saying:  There was an error while loading the plug-in 'AcroForm.api'.  The plug-in failed to initialize.  Then when I click on the OK button, I get a final pop-up window saying: There was an error while loading the plug-in Annots.api. The plug-in failed to initialize.  Anybody ever get this set of issues???, and if so....Help!  I would be ever so grateful.  I am worried that Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional is incompatible with Windows 7.  I know that if so, it might mean I need to buy 9.0.  Can I just upgrade?  Is that less costly?  Many thanks to anyone who can offer some advice.  ---DMN

Further to this original post ---  OK, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the program, to no avail.  I did however get a message which I had gotten before but since I was not yet aware that the program got installed with any problems, I had not noticed... This time I took notice.  The error message was clearly what it is about, at least to a great extent.  I got this message:  Warning 20225: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Setup was unable to create a new item:  Adobe PDF Port Printer may be unavailable.  GetLastError:  The operation completed successfully.  So then after the reinstallation, I went into Control Panel, Printers & Drivers and made a valiant attempt to manually install a virtual printer port.  I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional installed in another computer on which I have Windows XP Pro (yes the only other computer--  I am permitted two installations for this program--  I confirmed this with Adobe), by looking at Properties and copying down exactly the text, etc. which described the names of the two possible ports, etc.  Tried to "tell" my new computer (the one which has Windows 7) that it should set up and/or look for such a virtual port, again to no avail.  I am amazed that Adobe does not allow me to even pay cash money for tech support, but they wouldn't do it.  I guess you can have just so many employees who know the programs, etc.  Anyway, as I said before I may just break down and buy the 9.0 version which the Adobe techie told me is indeed compatable with Windows 7.  He did not tell me that Windows 7 was incompatible with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional but that 8.0 is indeed incompatible.  Just googled the term "Warning 20225" along with some relevant buzz words.  I can see there is still a bit of tweaking I may be able to do before I cry "uncle!"

  • Acrobat 9.0 Professional Runtime Error

    Hi There
I'm an IT support analyst at a large college trying to resolve this current issue with Acrobat 9.0 Professional
I have installed it on two machines on campus and i can't even get the program to load......... everytime the user click's on the icon it flags up with a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error"
Flags it up as the acrobat.exe which has the issue, when you look into the issue more it informs me saying their is an error with a specific .dll file "MSVCR80.dll". The current AppVer is 9.0.0.332 and ModVer 8.0.50727.4053. I have had a look on the forums to see if anyone else is getting an error like this and i cant seem to find anything in relation to this issue.
I have checked security permission's, cleared the users local profiles, rebuilt the machines and reinstalled it but keeps flagging up with the same issue. I dont know if anyone knows of this error or knows of a solution on how to get this resolved but any feedback at all would be grateful.
    Regards
    Mike

    Thanks for that SimonATS
Had a look and have resolved the issue thanks to your post, I ran adobe under an admin account (which allows access due to allowing permissions on top level) ran the updates under the "Help" tab and upgraded it to 9.2, then ran perfect !
If anyone else experiences this issue would suggest running updates, but if you cant run the program full stop ! would suggest SimonATS suggestion, that will get you back up and running

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional in my widow 7

What I must do to install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional in my window 7

If it is a 64-bit system, your install process is to upgrade to AA XI. If it is a 32-bit system, then you should be able to install it. However, you will have to change the printer port in the Adobe PDF printer properties to File rather than Adobe PDF to Desktop\*.* or what ever. When you create PDFs you will have to use a 2 step process -- print the file (will have a PRN extension though it is a PS file) and then open the file in Distiller to create a PDF. With Acrobat 6, you should even be able to use PDF Maker (unless you are upgrading OFFICE also and then you would have to upgrade to AA XI for it), but again you will have to open the file in Distiller to create the PDF.
There will likely be other things that will go wrong, but that would have to be dealt with to see if there is a workaround. MS has been changing the guts of their operating system so fast, they are making previous programs obsolete. Keep in mind that AA 6 is five versions back from the current.
I am suggesting this approach since I was successful in an experiment of installing AA5 on Win7, 32-bit. Now I have AA XI on that machine. As I said it was just an experiment.

    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@@.3bb72ee7
Sin embargo, Adobe suele retirar del mercado las versiones anteriores de sus programas cundo saca una nueva, por lo que dudo que puedas tratar directamente con ellos en este caso.

  • Acrobat 6.0 Professional - Document Compare

    Hi All,
I'm opening two PDF files in Acrobat 6.0 professional programatically from VB.NET program and I'm comparing those two documents using MenuitemExecute(DIGSIG:CompareDocuments ) command and generating the side by side comparison file programatically.
During this process after executing the command "MenuitemExecute(DIGSIG:CompareDocuments )" adobe is displaying "Compare Documents" dialog box where the user need to click OK on it in order to continue with the further process.
My requirement is to suppress the dialog box and automate the process.Mine is desktop application developed in VB.NET.
So.., could you please any one let me know how to suprress the dialog box and the posiible ways to do that.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Vijay.

    Thanks for your reply Aandi,
I can able to run compare function using Menu Item execute but after that a dialog box "Compare Documents" is poping up where it requires user action to click "OK" on that dialog box to continue with comparison. So, is there any possible way to capture that "OK" click programatically.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vijay.

  • Users custom stamps dissapear in Acrobat 7.0 Professional

    Hello,
For some reason our users custom stamps are dissapearing in Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional when they close Acrobat, reopen it, and attemp to use the stamp(s) they had previously created. I am not sure if we can upgrade Acrobat because the users documents have to comply with some patch standard at http://www.uspto.gov/. Where would I need to look in order to find out what version/patches http://www.uspto.gov/ supports so I can troubleshoot the problem more effectively?
    Thank you.

Yes, but i was hoping to be able to convert multiple files through acrobat rather than plot one at a time through autocad. thanks.

  • Printer and printer-scanner isn't recognised by Acrobat 7.1 Professional, though it is by Reader

I'm running Acrobat 7.1 Professional with latest updates, on a WinXP system (SP3). Printer-scanner is a Brother 420CN and a laser printer HL 2040. Neither is recognised by Acrobat, although I can print to them from Reader (latest version) and any other program. This failure to recognise printer occurred failry recently, possibly after a recent update to Acrobat? I've tried "Detect and repair", but it appears to not run. (A dialogue screen flashes and disappears too fast to read) I've reinstalled Acrobat using the msi file in the Acrobat folder. Nothing has made any diference - still no printer!
In print set-up or print, a dialogue box asks "Before you can perform printer related taks, such as print set-up or printing a document, you need to install a printer. Do you want to install a printer now?". On selecting "Yes" another box opens stating that "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" However on checking component services, print spooler is running! I've checked this both before and after going through this dialogue.
I was unable to reinstall Acrobat over the present installation using the opriginal CD as it recognised the installed (and updated) Acrobat as being of a later version than the version on the CD, and I didn't want to uninstall and then reinstall as I wanted to keep the document history. (Is history in a file that I can copy and keep during an install, or is it not deleted during uninstall?)
Has anyone else faced and solved this printing problem? Has anyone any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your advice

If you are using a Windows based computer, follow the instructions for resetting the AMDS >  How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
Reset the AMDS then see if the battery will charge while the iPhone is on.
    If not, try a reset.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

The program closes without warning, while I am working in the program

    Hi Karen ,
Could you please elaborate about the issue so that we get know important information about the issue and assist you accordingly ?
How and when does the program closes? Is it during the launch of Acrobat or while working on any of the PDF'?
What OS do you work on ?
If there any error message associated along with it ,please share the screen shot of the same .
If you are on windows ,please try repairing the software once and see if that fixes the issue .
For repairing of Acrobat ,launch Acrobat>Navigate to help>Repair Installation
