Acrobat 8.0 update 8.1.5 has bugs. How do I fix it?

Yesterday I installed (again) update 8.1.5 for my Acrobat Professional. After a successful installation, two things happen when i turn on the computer or try to run Acrobat.
1) When turning on the computer,  I receive a message saying (in Portuguese, that I translated) In the window header? ` Acrotray.exe - Unable to find component` and, in the body of the message - ` This application cannot be started because ACE.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may solve the problem.` . I have reinstalled Acrobat, but whenever I install update 8.1.5 I received this same message.
2) When I try to run Acrobat, the same happens and Acrobat does not run. I ran Illustrator without any problem.
3) When I start Word 2003, I get a message stating Acrobat 8.1.5 is being installed (I believe it is installing the Acrobat tool bar). The second time I start Word the tool bar is there.
Because of what happens with Acrobat I returned the system to what it was before the update and Acrobat worked OK.  This is the third time I update and these same problems appear. 
I also checked whether the Ace.dll file was installed, and it appeared in various instances, and also in the Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Designer 8.0
Is it in the wrong place?
What shoud I do?   Can you tell me?

Ok, I have finally found a solution!
To fix this issue do the following:
# go to [http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ this website] and download and install the program.
# go to the vlc folder in your program files and find npvlc.dll.
# right click and select "open using resource hacker".
# inside resource hacker, go to version info and anywhere where it says 2.1.3.0, change it to 2.1.5.0.
# Click compile script and then go file>save as. You will have to save the file in a different location and then move it into the VLC folder manually.
# Open firefox and goto help>troubleshooting information. Click the show folder button.
# find pluginreg.dat and delete it.
# restart firefox.
If you do what it says above, your problem should be solved. What this process does is it firstly changes the file version of the VLC file to 2.1.5.0 and then forces firefox to re-scan for plugins. If you go to the plugins menu in the addons manager, it should be listed as VLC Web Plugin 2.1.5.0.
Please fell free to uninstall resource hacker after this if you want.
