Acrobat 8.0 update (Windows XP and Vista)

I'm using Acrobat 8.0 (Windows XP Pro) + Acrobat Reader 9.0
I'm anymore able to update Acrobat 8.0, the following message appear:
For Adobe updater and Adobe Install Manager Update:
You restart the download process, but the files as change on the server
For Adobe Updater plug-in:
Unable to verifing file
The exacte same message with Vista environment.
I have try to uninstall the Adobe Reader 9.0, restart the computer, without any change.
Some one have an idea????...
Many thanks

Something scary happened just now.
I'm running Vista Ultimate. Updater proposed an update to my Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Reader 8, so I said go ahead. I will be more careful in future. The update took a very long time (what was it doing all that time?), required my system to be restarted twice (!), and after the second restart left it in a strange state in which several things weren't working, for example Google could not find its cookies, and several programs that normally autostart weren't running. Most alarming of all, in that state the Norton Firewall was turned off.
I don't want to deal with any software that turns off my firewall. If this is Adobe's fault then they should be ashamed of themselves.
After seeing this I restarted again and this time got the completion message from Updater. Everything else seems to be normal. But beware.

    Hi there!
    Please see  this thread for the download links for the Fingerprint Software 5.8 ....
    This issue was already raised in the ThinkVantage subforum here at Lenovo Forums and it is resolved.
    Regarding the Turbo Memory, please keep in mind that the hardware only works with Vista. Windows XP does not support turbo memory thus the piece of hardware is rendered useless. With regards to Turbo Memory usage in Vista, the latest drivers do fully support the card in Vista and since there are no technological changes, there is no need for additional or new drivers.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can I load Acrobat Pro 6 onto Windows 7 and upgrade to Acrobat Pro 9?

    Can I load Acrobat Pro 6 onto Windows 7 and upgrade to Acrobat Pro 9?  My former PC ran on Windows XP and this new PC runs on Windows 7.  I don't want to shell out another $449 when Acrobat Pro 9 worked fine for me.

    You might be able to install Acrobat 6 for this purpose, but you probably won't have to. When you install Acrobat 9 Upgrade it should (if I remember right) ask for the serial number of your "qualifying" product and at that point you put in the Acrobat 6 serial.

    hi,
    since i am using Windows XP operating system with Labview, i made a executable file and i trying to install with Windows 7 or Vista OS installed PC.
    when my device is detect it will gives the hardware information , that have to save in to the hard disk, where i am usually putting near to my Application

    for the Vista and windows 7 OS has a adminstrative writes it wont allow to create and write a new file where near to application exe file.
    is there any method has to set these file for administrative rights on Windows 7 and vista OS?
    i am using Labview 8.6 version
    Regards,
    Balaji DP

    You would need to log into the computer with an account that has administrative rights. Or, you could configure the application to run under the administrator account. Both of these are Windows operations.
    Or, you could fix your code so it doesn't do that.

    How could you Skype people say "Please make sure you are using the latest version (currently 6.1 of Skype for Windows before reporting an issue."??? You haven't even made sure that your latest version even WORKS on the OSs you claim it works on... and to add insult to injury your website doesn't even have older versions just in case there's a problem. We have to rely on good samaritans in the community to archive previous versions that work...
    If you are going to advertise that your software works on previous OSs you should test them before forcing us to upgrade.
    ruwin I would appreciate a response.
    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool (both on Windows XP and Vista).
    Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

  • Which format for External HD using Mac OSX Windows Xp, and Vista?

    Hi
    I've had problems with using an extermal HD and am looking for some further information...
    I have recently purchased a 500 g external iomega hard drive. I need it to be compatible with my mac using osx, and with pc's using both Windows XP and vista. I will routinely be needing to transfer files from all three platforms.
    I had reformatted my hard drive to FAT32 on the pc using windows xp and it worked fine, then took it home and used in on my mac, and it is now no longer recognized on the pc.
    The HD is under disk manager is showing that it is formatted as FAT32 but I cannot use the drive. I cannot download programs to use on the PC's to make the drive compatible but could on the mac.
    What are my best options to share files reliably?
    Thanks

    Add NTFS write support to Mac OS instead.
    MacFUSE +3G is a good start.

  • Magic Mouse Guide for Windows 7 and Vista,,,

    Hello All,
    I recieved my Magic Mouse and it works great under OSX but I couldn't get it working under Windows at all. Searching here and around the web, I've compiled a guide on how I got it working. Hopefully, Apple will release proper drivers in the future but for now, here is what I did:
    Turn mouse off...if you have already tried installing, remove the device and then turn the mouse off. To remove it, open Start, type "Devices" and press enter. Select "remove device"...Now let's get started:
    1) Update the Bluetooth Driver.
    Open Device Manager.
    Start > (Right Click Computer) > Properties. Click Device Manager in upper left of this window. Double click (Bluetooth Radios), Right click on "Generic Bluetooth" and select "Properties". Open the Driver tab and then select "Update Driver". Click "Browse my computer for driver software". On the next screen, towards the bottom, click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers...". Uncheck "Show compatible hardware". Select "Apple" and then "Apple built in bluetooth". Done
    2)In the notification area of the task bar, right click on Bluetooth icon and select "Add a device". Turn on your mouse. It will show up on screen. Right click on the mouse icon. Select Properties. Select the "Services" tab and check the "Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc". The mouse may disappear from the screen since it's been added. Windows is still looking for other devices so click "Cancel".
    3) Disable power management for Bluetooth Radio. Open device manager, open Bluetooth Radios and right click on "Apple Bluetooth". Select the "Power Management". Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
    4) Reboot computer. Mouse should be working in Windows 7/Vista now.
    * If you reboot and your mouse is still not working, click on the mouse two or three times. On my system, the mouse will not begin working until I do this, every time I boot my system. *
    Hope this helps,
    Al

    if you go to
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL952
    then download this package
    and extract the AppleWirelessMouse.exe or AppleWirelessMouse64.exe
    you then can run this on your windows PC and execute this
    this enables scrolling functionality of the Magic Mouse
    do not execute the downloaded file directly because it will tell you it doesn't run on this computer ( which is logical because of pc hardware =/= Mac hardware )
    i hope it works for everybody
    for me it does..
    it recognizes my Magicg Mouse and i now also have scrolling enabled

  • Existing piece won't run video files on windows 7 and vista

    hi, folks - I need some help.
    we have a series of older (2003) authorware pieces that use .mpg and .mov files. We run the lessons (exams, actually) at 10 or so sites across the country, twice a year. They've been running fine for 7 years with occasional updates and tinkering. At the sitting last week we had problems with a lab that just converted to Windows 7 and another laptop that runs Vista Business. In both cases the authorware file loads and runs until a screen that tries to load a video file. The placeholder shows up (a square with an x across it indicating its size), but the piece freezes and nothing runs. The piece runs fine on all the other sites and on a variety of pc's at our location.
    In both cases, we are able to load and run the video files directly from the hard drive through Media Players, but they will not load in authorware.
    I've tried recompressing the files into .wmv, mp4, mov, and avi. Still won't run. Tried recompressing on a different machine and still no joy.
    would really appreciate any ideas or help on this.
    thanks,
    Ron

    thanks, Steve and Eric. Replaced it and it's running fine - appreciate the response and advice.
    Regards,
    Ron

  • Dual booting Windows 7 and Vista on dv9620 on dual hard drives

    Hi this might look like a repeat question but i haven't seen it answered by anyone that has tried it.
    I downloaded the release candidate of Windows 7 and i want to dual boot it on my notebook.
    The drives I have available are Disc0 which holds C: (the drive running Vista) and E: the HP_Recovery partition.
    Then I have Disc1 which holds D: the Data drive and nothing else.
    I want to run Windows 7 on the D: drive So can anyone who has done this tell me how they did it? Most of the dual booting how to's I've seen are for for booting on seperate partitions a single hard drive and because i'm something of a novice to this I would like some advice with more reference to my situation.

    Hello and welcome,
    You can probably finagle the partitions to allow for dual boot: copy the contents of D: to C: and delete D:, for instance.   Speculating, since I don't have an IdeaPad to test on. You usually/probably/maybe lose the OneKey Recovery feature if you touch the partitions.
    Others here on the Linux board may have been able to preserve OKR, but I'll leave that to them to describe since I haven't done it.
    Long way of leading up to the question: is it sufficient to run Linux in a virtual machine, or as a WUBI install within windows?  That keeps things simple and makes backups much easier as well.
    Whatever you do, burn your recovery media first.  Now.

  • I have windows 7 and vista laptops on win 7 after the latest updates I was no longer able to browse the net. I have router conection but it shows no internet

    since the last update to 14.0.1 and updating plugins for adobe shockwave flash my internet connection dropped out. I have two other laptops, an Ipod touch and samsung phone on the same router and all work fine. I have connection to the router but diagnosis shows no internet access. I updated the same plugin on my Vista laptop and found the same problem occurred. I have reset all network settings and the router back to factory and setup again but still the same

    Hi mysticpjd,
    this really does not seem to be an Internet browser issue. Have you tried a different browser (Internet Explorer)? I assume that the problem persists there right?

  • I can't seem to print to PDF from other programs.  I have Acrobat 9 (with latest update), Windows 8, and when I try to print to PDF it defaults to a  *.prn file, and when I change the name to *.pdf the file that it produces doesn't open.

    I can print to PDF using PDF995, but not the regular Adobe PDF that comes up in the list of printers.
    I've tried repairing the Adobe installation, but that didn't help.

    It might help to understand the process, though I am almost surprised that AA 9 worked for printing on Win 8 (thanks for that info). Normally the print process is to print to the Adobe PDF printer (without the print-to-file checked). The process does create a PRN file that is actually a PS file. AcroTray (running in the background) completes the process of taking the PS file and running Distiller in the background to create the PDF. If you have problems, you should be able to print to file (assuming the print driver works -- but you indicate it does) and then opening the PRN file in Distiller to create the PDF.

  • Windows 7 and Vista hotsync instructions here

    Recently I have seen a lot of older devices and the question asked. How to hotsync my device to Windows 7 or Windows Vista? Well there are three ways.
    First is good old USB. This depends on if your new OS is a 32bit system. How to tell if your OS is a 32bit system, go to: Start-->Right click on Computer or My Computer and select Properties. Look for the System Type. If it says 32bit then all you need to do is download Palm Desktop 6.2.2 (Download Here) and a 3rd party program from Pimlico Software located here: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/, and look for a free program at the bottom of the page called: “PalmHotSyncSetup”.
    [UPDATE]  Aceeca has come out with 64bit drivers for PalmOS devices!  It works with Vista64 and Windows 7 64bit versions!  See this thread for download links:   64bit Drivers are HERE!
    If you have a 64bit OS below is the only two options you have to sync your Palm OS device. If your computer does not have a Bluetooth or IR adaptor be sure to get one that is compatible to the PC you are using.
    Second is Bluetooth. Now if your handheld has a Bluetooth radio you can hotsync though this and not have to worry if you have a 32bit or 64bit OS. To set this up download Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and then look up this link: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/49229_en.html. Depending on your PC you may need to buy a Bluetooth dongle or adaptor. Be sure to get one that is compatible with your system.
    Third and last is IR or aka Infrared. This is for the older handheld that do not have Bluetooth. You will need to have an IR port on your computer or find an IR dongle or adaptor for your PC as well. Once you have one look at this link to see how to set one up: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/1941_en.html
    This was posted by forum member Candrews.  Here it is if you want to view the whole post yourself: Click Me
    1)     If you have a Windows 7 version that is compatible with the Windows XP Mode (Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate), go to the Microsoft website and download Virtual PC and the Windows XP Mode application files (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). Install both;
     2)    Install Palm desktop while in the Windows XP Mode;
     3)    Launch the hot synchronization manager while in the XP Mode;
     4)     Connect the handheld using the USB cable;
     5)      Make sure that the handheld is listed under the USB option in the Windows XP Mode toolbar on the top of the screen (you may have to expand the XP Mode window to see it);
     6)      Start the hot synchronization operation;
     7)      Go back to the USB option in the Windows XP Mode toolbar and choose “Add” for the Palm devise.
    This will start the hot synchronization all right. Tip: If you choose "Add" before starting the syncronization operation, it will not work; follow the sequence above. Obs.: I used the older version of Palm desktop (4.2).
    Also as a heads up we do not support Windows 7. The directions here are to help and give a work around for this OS.

    Did you have a Bluetooth adaptor before you installed Palm Desktop?
    You may need to do a clean uninstall. Here is the directions on how to do that:
    You should first make a copy of your data. If you have Palm Desktop 4.2 and lower you can copy your user folder by going to C:\Program files\Palm or PalmOne. Once in here look for your username and right click on it and copy it. Then open up My Documents and Pasting it in here. If you have Palm Desktop 6.2.2 go to My Documents/Documents --> Palm OS Desktop. Copy the folder(s) in here and Paste them in My Documents/Documents
    Now you will need to uninstall Palm Desktop. First go to Control Panel and in XP go to Add and Remove documents, in Vista Programs and Features. Then look for Palm Desktop and uninstall it. Then go to C:\Program files\Palm or C:\Program files\PalmOne and delete this folder. If you have Vista you will need to go to here:
    C:\Program files\Palm
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\Palm or PalmOne
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go into your Control Panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck hide hidden files.
    One this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your registry.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel you are unsure of your self see if you have a friend that can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything they need to delete. To help against this we need to do a backup.
    Go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
    Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    Easiest way to make sure your doing the right one highlight the key i.e. Palm Quick Install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The Registry keys are as follows (Note: some of these Registry keys will not be here but if they are, delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource
    Next reboot your computer
    Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you did not sync before create a hotsync name.

  • T5 update v1.1 and vista

    According to the site I would need an update my T5 to v1.1 but Vista is not mentioned as a supported platform. Hotsync is working OK but I would like to upgrade Is it possible? Did any body tried it?
    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

    If you are sync'ing OK on your Vista PC, you should have no problem.
    Follow the instructions on the update page, just make sure you have the data backed up. The update will erase all data on the handheld.
    The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
    Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
    Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
    With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
    Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
    With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
    For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

I want to use the other two computers because they have touch interface early computer/tablet highbird. thanks in advance.

    Michaelt65951582 I am sorry but you will need to run at least the minimum operating system to use Photoshop.  You can find the system requirements at System requirements | Photoshop.  I would recommend upgrading to Windows 7 or later.  You may find that your computer can support the more recent operating system depending upon the hardware installed.
