Acrobat 8.1.4 Won't Print.  Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer Leaves No Files

Mac OS X 10.5.6
Acrobat 8.1.4
MacbookPro 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM
Just finished a fresh install of OS and CS3 Web Premium.  The Adobe Printer worked for a little bit then just stopped.  It appears to be going through the process okay, but when you go out to the Finder and look in the folder it was supposed to be printing to then you see there is no file there.
I've tried printing directly from Acrobat to my HP2100M laser printer but the queue says it's sending it to the printer then a very short time later says it's done, but nothing comes from the printer.  If I open the same pdf in Preview then it prints to the printer with no problem.
Even though I've only had this software for 10 months, Adobe says they no longer offer free support for their product not working unless I buy their new product.  I take it to mean that they have a great deal of incentive to release new products in order to stop supporting the old?  No free support within the first year?  Scary.
Anybody have ideas?

Your welcome.
Another tip:
If you have more than one version of acrobat  6,7,8, 9 ...
use same procedure ask I outlined above.
Now open the latest verion of acrobat you have loaded.
Now have it reinsall the PDF printer as outlined above.
Now an version of Acrobat can use any newer version of the Adobe PDF Printer, but will only use the features built into that version of Acrobat. Any newer features in the PDFversion simply will not be used.
Having more than one copy of the Adobe PDF Printer can cause Strange problems.
This only applies to Mac version of Acrobat. Because Mac's install each newer version into a new Directory. Last information I heard you can not have more than one version of Acrobat due to Registration keys.

  • Incorrectly functions the printer "Adobe PDF" At  All Adobe Acrobat

Why, at the print of file PDF by means of printer "Adobe PDF", bookmarks vanish?

They have never been included in the printer. It takes a fair amount of extra coding that in the past was done with PDF Marks. The PDF Maker before AA9 had a preprocessor that added the PDF Marks to provide the functionality you want. As for the printer, it gives the same thing you get as if you print to paper. Paper doesn't have the bookmarks either.

  • Info on How to install adobe pdf as a printer into my device -printer file in windows 7

Need information on how to install adobe pdf as a printer in my device-printer file in windows 7. I currently have adobe 8 pro & acrobat distiller on my pc.

Acrobat appears to be running just fine- I am running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I don't know why it just didn't automatically install- I just replaced an older HD that was going bad. Copied my entire system using windows mirrow image. Adobe pdf converter was in my device and printer file before and now its's not. I did have to reinstall several programs, such as Adobe Acrobat, etc.

  • How do you add "Adobe PDF" as a "printer" in Office 2010/Windows 7

Although with most of the programs you can just save documents and spread sheets as PDFs, in Power Point, it does not allow you the option to save a slide as a PDF with the notes displayed in the PDF, only the slide is transformed to PDF, the notes do not show on them.
Goal: To have notes and slide saved as a PDF
Challenge: Just saving the slide as a PDF does not display notes
Solution in past: Print to Adobe PDF using the Print function and "print" using the notes or outline options in the print window
Problem: ADOBE PDF is not an option in my printer section anymore.
Question: How do I make PDF a "Printer" in with Office 2010 or in general using Windows 7

You make not mention of Acrobat and what version you might have. For Office 2010 to do as you want, you need PDF Maker and will have to have AA X for Office 2010. To get the Adobe PDF printer you could install either AA9 or AAX in Win7. Some folks have been successful with AA8 in Win 7. If you don't have Acrobat, then it is time to order it.

  • Where do I find the Adobe pdf 9.0 printer description file and how do I install it?

Where do I find the Adobe pdf 9.0 printer description file and how do I install it? Operating system is Windows 7 and I have Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 installed. Adobe Acrobat X Pro just updated to version 10.1.8

    Hi. Thanks for the replyl
I'm in prepress, working mainly with Quark XPress for advertising files and with Word, Photoshop, everything, for many years. My older computer is the workhorse with Quark 6.5 and CS4 and OSX 10.4.11. Everything is set up for me to produce PDF x1a files by printing .ps files from Quark and Word, and InDesign.
My newer computer, OSX 10.9.4, must now be used to a greater extent. So I have Quark 9 and 10 and now Creative Suite for the Cloud. But I don't have any Adobe PDF printer which I select when I print .ps files and place into my Distiller Watched Folder. I by pass selecting the Adobe PDF printer in Word and just print straight to .ps. The .ps file just sits in the Watched Folder and no longer flows into Distiller, processed and out. Is this the way of the future? I just want a smooth, fast flow for PDF's. I want them to be PDF x1a compliant for hi-quality printing.
Thought you might help to give me info as to how one uses Distiller (or not) with the new operating system and latest programs. Can't seem to find any info as of yet by searching the Adobe FAQ's and the Internet in general.
    Thanks alot.

  • How do I install the Adobe PDF Pack Desktop Printer

How do I install the Adobe PDF Pack desktop printer?

If you’re running the standalone version of FM, then the “headless” Acrobat comes with it; reinstall FM to repair that part. However, if you already had a full version of Acrobat installed, the FM installer may have screwed it up – you’ll have to uninstall all Acrobat(s) and reinstall.

  • Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer not working

I have tried to use the Adobe PDF 8.0 printer but all it does is send the info to the printer and then the Queue stops. I have had a look at other forums and tried everything like deleting the printer and then going into acrobat and repairing it and repairing privileges. Still none of this works... I have run out of ideas.
I did note that in the Acrobat Professional manual that it mentions the following:
    > n the pop-up menu below the Presets menu, choose PDF Options, and set any of the following options:
Now my print windows don't have this option or as latter described in the manual an option in the driver to change the PDF preset. I'm wondering if I am missing something. If somebody could please help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

FIXED IT!!!<br /><br />I worked out that all the problems came down to a single file in my preferences: ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.print.AdobePDF8/com.adobe.print.AdobePDF8.Defaults.xml<br /><br />now I opened it up and compared it to a version that was working...<br /><br />>** Excerpt from not working version **<br /><br />><dict><br />                    <key>com.adobe.print.AdobePDF.PrintSettings.PDFJobOptionsPath</key> <br />                    <string>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/Test(1).joboptions</string><br /><br />>** Excerpt from working version **<br /><br />><dict><br />                    <key>com.adobe.print.AdobePDF.PrintSettings.PDFJobOptionsPath</key> <br />                    <string>default</string><br /><br />I think what was going on was that the printer was trying to print to job options that either dont exist or dont work... It would stop the queue and also the printer didnt even have any PDF setting in the print dialog box. Now it works fine.<br /><br />So all you would have to do is delete the file, delete the printer from the print manager and then repair the printer from Acrobat and I should work fine!

  • Printer ADOBE PDF 9.0 - page orientation

After uninstalling Adobe Acrobat 8 it occures that the remained Acrobat 9 messages on start to need to fix some missing components. I clicked okay/yes.
However, now I can't print to ADOBE PDF 9.0 in landscape orientation. All pages come out turned to portrait format. I used to use settings created in InDesign successfully, there is no page format setting at all (compared to Distiller settings). I tried  various settings and printed from various applications.
Then I deletetd the printer ADOBE PDF 9.0 and created it new. (in use now: Adobe PDF 3018.101; URL: pdf900://distiller).
After some other trials now it prints fine from some but still turned around from other applications.
What can I do, to get printed PDFs in selected page orientation only?
Any hints appretiated! Thank you, - thomas

Of cause I do set up the page to landscape before printing. In all applications it's the same procedure: usual visually by clicking on a portrait or landscape page icon, whereas in some applications the shown measurement next to the print preview icon does not change it does in others (from 21 cm x 29,7 cm to 29,7 cm x 21 cm). That's sort of just GUI I guess, not my print issues origin.
However, this issue aperas to came with uninstalling Acrobat 8. Assumly some part got lost/corrupt (and made Acrobat 9 complain about missing components on start) - but which indeed? And how to replace?
I'd like to avoid a reinstall for the moment, cause I remeber this behave in earlier, ancient times with Updates from version 5, 6 or 7. Pity, I can't remember how I solved it, may be I did not at all until version 8, don't know anymore. But I do remember I did quite a lot of reinstalls without success in this print with ADOBE PDF paper orientation issue.

  • Installation printer Adobe PDF

The printer Adobe PDF is free?

    Hi,
No,Adobe PDF printer is not free.
It gets installed when you install Acrobat.
You need to purchase Acrobat in order to use the PDF printer.

I cannot print adobe pdf documents. Password protected. How do I fix this problem?

You'll need to remember it or recreate the PDF from the original file.
If there were an easy way to get around that, passwords wouldn't be worth much.

  • Adobe PDF as a print option

What do I need to do so that Adobe PDF is a print option?
In other words, when I go to print something, instead of selecting a printer, I can select 'Print to Adobe PDF' and save the item on my hard drive as a pdf

Yes, but.... as I've seen over in the Dreamweaver forums, software changes (functionality) are arbitrary, and subject to no logic at all. Things that are in CS6 aren't in CC, and even some things thatwere in CC at first are now gone, with no warning and no good reason.
Audition CC has all sorts of export problems, and people have had files permanently damaged using Photoshop CC.
If I screw up something on my own system, I own that mistake. I don't want to have to attribute it to something that's still in a "beta" stage as far as reliability goes. Especially at $240 to $480 a year.

  • Print Adobe PDF: Choose file save location

Currently, when I select Print, then select Printer: Adobe PDF 9.0, and press Print, the PDF file is saved to my Desktop. Where is the preference setting to save the PDF file somewhere of my choosing?

Thanks Lady Designer, your method works. However, it's too many steps for what I'll need to do. I have approximately 200 e-mail messages to print to file. It'd be much faster to select a message, Command+P, Enter, and continue with the next message. Your method requires the additional steps of clicking on the PDF button and selecting Save As PDF.
You're probably thinking, "Why doesn't he just select all the messages and print once?" I tried that.
When I choose to the PDF button and Save As PDF, no matter how many multiple messages I choose, only one of the messages turns into a PDF file. The other messages, despite being (apparently) processed, do not become PDF files. In fact, they become nothing; I know what happens to them.
When I choose to print using Adobe PDF 9.0 as my printer, I'm not given the opportunity to select a destination for multiple files; they automatically print to the Desktop. All the messages, however, do become PDF files.
Unless there's a way to select a file destination to which the Adobe PDF 9.0 printer can default, my choices are to either print-to-file each message one at a time; or print all the messages at once with the one method that works, but that will flood my Desktop with a couple hundred file icons. Although the mess lasts as long as it would take to gather the files into a new folder, I prefer to save myself the trouble.

  • Printing Adobe PDF files through Airport Extreme

I am trying to print Adobe PDF files to my HP5900 through an Airport Extreme. I can print other types of files (ai, eps, qxd) but i am unable to print PDF files. When i hit "print" the rainbow wheel starts spinning and it just gets stuck forcing me to force quit. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have ideas for a solution? Thanks

Have you tried printing the PDF from more than one application (just to eliminate the possibility of an application problem)?

  • When I print a PDF it always prints as a booklet, how can I print 1 full page?

When I print a PDF it always prints as a booklet, how do I print a full page?

In the Print dialog box you should be able to indicate which page you want to print and that page will print.  For instance, if you are viewing page 4, in the Print dialog, select "current page" and page 4 prints. This won't work if your page is actually a 2-page spread.  What size is the booklet?
