ACROBAT 8.1.7 won't print

hi,
i'm on a mac os x with adobe acrobat reader 8.1.7. Yesterday I tried to print a pdf file, and there was no response from my printer to suggest that it was printing, other than my printer window saying that it is. Then I tried printing a test page under my printer's option to make sure my computer and printer are communicating, and the test page got printed. I then tried printing my pdf file agn, and like before, my printer window would say that it is printing, but my pdf file was not printed.
I tried restarting my computer, same problem remained.
I tried giving it more time to 'communicate' to the printer, so then eventually it will get printed. Came back 6 hours later, all i got was 'Communication failure, please turn off your printer and check the connection or make sure that the printer is on'
I did both, and reinstalled my printer. And at the end of the day, my pdf file was not printed still.
Then I tried to fix this problem the next day. I opened the pdf file, and tried printing. This time the print window from Adobe won't even load, everytime i got to 'file>print', the acrobat reader will crash and i have to use 'force quit' option. I tried clicking the print button on the acrobat tool bar, same issue.
I thought that maybe this file is corrupted, so I tried opening another pdf to print. Agn, at the click of print either from the 'file' menu or even from the toolbar, the software will just crash.
I also tried exporting my pdf file to a word document, and i ended up getting a message regarding 'incorrect structure'
Please help.

TRy downloading a new driver for your printer from the p
rinter manufacture then:
open Printer Setup Utility and deleting printer from list.
Now open driver installer just download and  if it has a an uninstaller run it.
Next use the sme install program (you downloaded) and install.
Now openPrinter Setup Utility again and look for your printer per instucts for add printer.
now make it default printer.
Now Try to print document.

  • New HD, Now Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.16 Won't Print PDFs to HP2605dn

Had a HD die. Replaced with new one. All humming along on my OS 10.4.11 G4Powerbook except now newly re-installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.16 won't print PDFs to my HP2605dn printer. Adobe Reader 9.1.3 and Preview will print my PDFs so that's a workaround, but would like to get Acrobat Pro back to pre-grey screen of death functionality.
    Have sourced hp:
    http://tinyurl.com/ydpcdzu
so it seems to be a known issue.
and also sourced and did due diligence with troubleshooting list:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403864.html
(even though technically I'm not on 9 - same difference)
I'm running out of ideas here. Anyone feel like playing House, M.D. with my problem???

What message do you get, exactly? (Please don't include the serial itself).
Is this using the original CD that came with the Acrobat 8 product?
Does it say anything about a "qualifying product"?

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:
    1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent
    2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)
But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.
I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.
I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)
the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.
Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?
    system:
Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)
MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)
    Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04
printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

I just found this solution on another board, I tried it  (I removed the same file listed below) and it worked for me....
Safari won’t save or print PDFs: how to fix

If Safari won’t save or print PDFs (but views them without any problems), you probably have an Adobe PDF plug-in installed. In Safari, go to Help->Installed Plug-ins and do a search for “PDF.” If you have anything with “PDF” in it other than “WebKit built-in PDF,” that is probably the culprit.
On my computer, the problem was “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin”. To remove it, I quit Safari, did a Spotlight search (Command-Option space) for that file name, and then dragged it to the trash. When I restarted Safari, I could print and save PDFs again. You can also manually find the plugins by going to the system “Library”  folder (the one at the root of your hard disk, not in your user folder) and looking in the “Internet Plug-Ins” folder.
    I’m on OS X 10.8.2, running Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17).

  • Acrobat 8.1.4 Won't Print.  Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer Leaves No Files

    Mac OS X 10.5.6
    Acrobat 8.1.4
MacbookPro 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM
Just finished a fresh install of OS and CS3 Web Premium.  The Adobe Printer worked for a little bit then just stopped.  It appears to be going through the process okay, but when you go out to the Finder and look in the folder it was supposed to be printing to then you see there is no file there.
I've tried printing directly from Acrobat to my HP2100M laser printer but the queue says it's sending it to the printer then a very short time later says it's done, but nothing comes from the printer.  If I open the same pdf in Preview then it prints to the printer with no problem.
Even though I've only had this software for 10 months, Adobe says they no longer offer free support for their product not working unless I buy their new product.  I take it to mean that they have a great deal of incentive to release new products in order to stop supporting the old?  No free support within the first year?  Scary.
    Anybody have ideas?

    Your welcome.
    Another tip:
If you have more than one version of acrobat  6,7,8, 9 ...
use same procedure ask I outlined above.
Now open the latest verion of acrobat you have loaded.
Now have it reinsall the PDF printer as outlined above.
Now an version of Acrobat can use any newer version of the Adobe PDF Printer, but will only use the features built into that version of Acrobat. Any newer features in the PDFversion simply will not be used.
Having more than one copy of the Adobe PDF Printer can cause Strange problems.
This only applies to Mac version of Acrobat. Because Mac's install each newer version into a new Directory. Last information I heard you can not have more than one version of Acrobat due to Registration keys.

  • Acrobat 8.1 PDFmaker won't print envelope size pages

    Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    Acrobat 8.1.3 Professional
    Word 2007
I create mail-merged #10 envelopes in Word 2007 and then use PDFmaker to create a PDF of the result of the mail-merge. The resulting PDF has a number of pages each the size of a #10 envelope.
This has worked for years, until today.
Now, the pages in the PDF created from PDFmaker are 8.5"x11" with the "envelope area" centered in the document.
I can not find any possible reason for this or any solution in this forum - I have tried a number of solutions for other problems listed in this forum and this has not fixed the problem.

Have you checked if the Adobe PDF printer has Envelope 10 paper size.
    if it doesn't exist:
    From Control Panel>Printers>Adobe PDF
    Right click, select Printing Preferneces
Adobe PDF Page Size -> Press Add
Create a new paper size with following details:
    Paper name: Envelope 10
    Width: 10.375 inches
    Height: 4.5 inches.

  • Acrobat Reader won't print

I installed OS 10.6 and now 10.6.1. Acrobat Reader 8 wouldn't print. Installed Acrobat Reader 9. Won't print. Canon MP530 printer gives this error message: "Unable to open raster stream. No such file or directory." No problem previously, with 10.5 and Acrobat Reader 8.

Solved my own problem; read the solution here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2172229&tstart=0
Hope it works for all of you with different printers. The issue seems to be in the printer drivers, though.

  • Acrobat won't print, no page selected

Since I upgraded to a new iMac with Mavericks, acrobat (updated to latest version, 10.1.9) won't print anything. I get an error message saying 'the document could not be printed' and then a second message saying 'no pages were selected'. I have tried selecting pages in different ways, and I've tried printing various different pdfs to both my printers (Brother HL2030 and Canon Pro9000). I have the latest drivers on these, which are printing other documents fine, so there's no problem with either the files or the printers.

First let me state that this is my solution on a Macintosh running 10.7.5 and Acrobat Pro X (with all the latest updates).
This problem started for me just this last weekend. I have been to every so-called solution that I could find via a Google search and NONE of these "solutions" even by the self-tagged "experts" work. PERIOD!
I decided to follow one suggestion to install Acrobat Pro 9. However, instead of uninstalling Acrobat Pro X first, I left it installed.
During the initial startup of Acrobat 9 after installation I was offered the option of installing an Extra feature called Adobe PDF Printer which allows me to "Create Adobe PDF files from any application by printing to Adobe PDF Printer". I opted in to that extra.
Once Acrobat Pro 9 had started I tested it using one of the PDF files that had failed to print with the dreaded "No pages selected......" error messages. THE FILE PRINTED AS EXPECTED!
I then decided I would uninstall Acrobat Pro X, but on a whim decided to try to print the same PDF file that had just printed using Acrobat Pro 9 one more time. IT PRINTED!
All I can figure out is that somehow selecting the option to have Acrobat Pro 9 install the option for allowing other applications to create a PDF repaired something within the Mac operating system. Just a guess.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Acrobat CS3 won't print through XServe print server

Acrobat CS3 won't print through our XServe print server when connected by AppleTalk. Everything else prints fine. You can print the same .pdf with AppleTalk through Preview. And you can print with Acrobat through any other protocol but AppleTalk. The job spools, looks like it's going through but never reaches it's destination. We have 19 printers so it's not a single printer being cranky, and 35 Macs so it's not just a single Mac. All our users are on Active Directory and all are on the same subnet and VLAN.

    Hello Scott,
If you look at the cups error log on the Xserve, does it give any clues as to why the Acrobat spool file is failing? Hopefully there is some indication as to which process is failing and why.
We're not using AppleTalk on our Xserve. All printer connections are set via LPR so I cannot offer any advice based on experience.

  • Acrobat Standard Won't print first 1/2 page of scanned document

I have a previously unseen problem.  I've had the program for a few years, but now it won't print the top half of the first page of a scanned document (some of them).  I tried to print something I scanned a few weeks ago, and it works fine.  That one's also in color.  The ones that won't print fully are black and white.  Any ideas?

You're going to think this is impossible, but the problem only seems to occur with a couple of particular documents I was scanning.  I tried deleting the file, rescanning and resaving, then printing with the same 1/2 page result.  I tried scanning, saving, and printing a couple of sample documents (thinking I would send one of these to you), and there was no problem!  After multiple attempts with the problem document, I fed it through the document feder backwards, and then it scanned, saved, and printed with no problem.
I'm using a Brother MFC-J6710DW printer, Windows XP Pro, Acrobat Standard 7.0.  I've actually tried to update Acrobat, without success for some reason.  The actual problem document is too sensitive for me to send out.  I'd like to hear ideas, in case this repeats.
    Thank you.

  • Acrobat X PDF Won't Print

I installed Acrobat X the other day.
Today, I tried printing a PDF document, but it won't print.
When I click OK, I get an error message that reads: document cannot print, then another message that reads no pages were selected.
If I click on printer, and select print from there, nothing happens.

pleasure: if you open the file in Acrobat Pro and save as, that sometimes does the trick as well. (if it does then its a better solution)

  • Acrobat won't print to printer (others will)

This is a strange one.  I just upgraded to Acrobat Pro XI Mac.  I print to both a USB printer and one on a network.  All programs (word and acrobat) print to the USB.  But while word documents (and others, such as mail) will print to the network device, the pdf files will not.  I suspect this has something to do with the new acrobat print dialog box.  Also, when I look to fix a problem, such as two sided printing, it tells me to go through the mac print dialog, but the program discourages that.

Can you try fix mentioned in the below link and see if this resolved your issue.

  • PDF's won't print

I have a user who cannot print PDF's to a HP 4520 color laserjet printer.  The user can print anything else (docs, spreatsheets, text files, pictures, etc) to the printer, but not PDF's.  The user has XP with all the latest upgrades and Acrobat Pro V8.  Anyone else can print PDF's to the printer.  The user can also print to another printer, just not this one.  Acrobat has been uninstalled, the registry cleaned and reinstalled with the latest updates as has the printer.  Logging onto the PC as administrator instead of the user has the same results.  The print spooler is running.  It appears as if Acrobat is not sending the PDF to the print spooler.  It makes no difference if the PDF is self created or one generated by someone else, they just won't print.  I have been through the trouble shooting sheet presented by Adobe, but no help.  The "chat" also has been no help, and was thoroughly discusted with one of the agents when asking for assitance and was just dropped when he asked if there was anything else he could help with and I told him he had not given me any information that would help.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

Maybe the file name assigned to a pdf is not compatible with your  printer's memory. Example, if the file name includes brackets [ ] { } or other  punctuation, or is very long, the printer won't recognize it.  One print  job that stalls will hold up the entire print queue, so  delete your job from the queue.
First, look at the file name  displayed in the print server's list of print jobs.  The same file name  also appears in the top blue bar of your Acrobat pdf  display.  Are there brackets, per cent signs, or other punctuation marks  in the file name?
    This file name works:
    ti50000
    These would not work:
    ti50000[1]  because of the brackets
sarif00099659%47%000%%000%0000  because of the length and  the percent signs
You can rename the  file by saving the pdf to your desktop. Click on the Acrobat toolbar  icon for Save (a picture of a floppy ) and rename  the file.  You can use any name - the author's last name, for example -  as long as you don't  include punctuation or too  many characters. Now send this file to the printer.

  • HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format - Can't reset the paper size - won't print!!!

I have a new HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format All-in-one printer.  I love it and have had no problems with it...until now.  The other day I went into Photoshop and printed a 4x6 photo and now my printer will not allow me to print on 8.5X11.  I have checked the paper size in Photoshop, Word, Excel, Acrobat...everything I used that day, but it all shows "letter" size paper in the properties.  I also checked the printer utilities...letter size paper is selected.
But when I try to print, the printer and the computer both give me a "paper mismatch" error and my only option is to change the paper or cancel.  I went back into photoshop again and was able to print a 4x6 photo again - once I put in 4x6 paper - but then I changed it back to an 8.5X11 size photo sheet and tried to print on letter size paper and..."paper mismatch'.
I changed the printer back to factory settings.  Nothing.  I just had to reset up my printer on my network, but it still won't print.  I tried to re-install the printer software from the installation disk, but it won't install.  It says "already installed".
HELP!!!!!!  I honestly don't know what to do at this point!!!!!
    Thanks in advance!!

I have struggled with a similer problem with my new 7500A.  I've done all the things you did. I made sure I had all updates and the firm ware update. I spent time on the phone with a lady who meant well but clearly didn't know the product. I had a difficult time communicating with her. Her accent was in the way. This morning I realy didn't want to face another day of this struggle.  As I walked into my studio I had a idea. Instead of going to the computer to try to solve my problem through menues, HP Customer Service and or communities. I went dirrectly to the printer.  I turned the printer on, the little screen on the printer lit up I touched the arrow to go to the next screen of menus. I touched "Set Up"  then scrolled down through the choices. I picked "Preferences". At the bottom of the list was.............. Media Width/Type Sensing (ON)............I promptly turned it (OFF) ......................I am printing as I was told I would be able to do prior to buying. I am not getting that anoying screen  "Paper Mismatch" . The printer is printing now on my 12 x 12 stock regardless of the type. ie: cardstock, plain paper, colored paper, construction paper. I hope this helps some of you out there.  Clearly HP was of "NO" help to me. I have read that others are installing HP 7000 drivers etc.  I've solved the problem without going to those lengths, no thanks to HP.

  • LaserJet 2600n won't print Ms. Word doc, Publisher, nor excel. Sends paper thru, but no print on it.

My HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer won’t print a Microsoft Word document, nor a Microsoft Office Publisher, any longer. When I try printing a Word document in `either black or colors, the printer sends the paper through, but no print is on the paper. When I click “Properties” in the print dialog box, I get a pop-up window saying, “Word cannot bring up the properties dialog because the printer returned an error.”
I reinstalled the printer driver, and restarted my computer, but this did not help. None of the trouble shooting actions helped.
However, it does print from notepad. But when I tried to print a Ms Excel document, the error box said, “Current printer is unavailable. Select another printer.” And when try to print a pdf file, I get message, “Adobe Reader stopped working.”
    I use a 64-bit Toshiba Satellite P505 with Windows 7.
    Please advise.

I felt i had to come to help you if your problem was not solved.
I've a customer who just came up with this problem.  He is using Office 2003 on Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bits.  He is using also a Color LaserJet 2600n.  We just reinstalled his software on a new computer and we started experiencing "Current Printer Is Unavailable" in Excel.  When trying to access Page Setup, it was also giving us that same message, and
then we had a dialog listing every computer available.
We produced a PDF, tried to print from Acrobat Reader, it crashed too the same way you mentionned.
    Here's what happenned:
We first installed the driver available from HP web site
    We did some updates from Microsoft Web Site.  There was an optional hardware update for the LaserJet 2600n, so we installed it.  This update is completely {Language Filter Evasion}
Uninstall your printer driver (well, just remove it from your printer list)
Then reinstall it.  In our case, it was accessed thru IP.
When it was installing, it asked us to keep the same driver or REPLACE the driver...  pick-up REPLACE the driver!
And you are good to go...

Two obvious troubleshooting techniques are to delete and re-install the printer driver (or updating printer driver) and fixing the installation of Acrobat. Have you given those a try?
