Acrobat 8.1 - Office 2007 Conversion Problem

Hello,
I am having a problem converting a word document into a pdf. The problem is no text appears on graphs in the pdf. I pasted the graphs from Excel 2007 into Word 2007 as an Enhanced Metafile and Windows Metafile but neither seem to work. Does anyone have any solutions?
Regards,

Do you have a PostScript printer where you can print this document? If it does not appear there, it's a problem with Office printing.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro & Office 2007 - No Color Text without Color Printer?

I have a number of legacy word documents (.doc) that I convert to PDF from Office 2007 using Acrobat 9 Professional.
These word documents have sections of text that are red. The documents also all have an embedded JPG in the header (company logo, also colored).
In all cases the red text is converted to black when creating the PDF but the logo stays color.  The only way to convert to PDF and maintain text color is to first select a color printer from the printer dialog box.
So, for each word document I need to create a PDF from, I first need to open the print dialog box, select some color printer and click "close."  Only then can I produce a PDF where both the logo and the text maintiain their original colors.
This behavior is new to Acrobat 9.  I never once had to change from my default (B&W laser) printer to a color printer before making a PDF.
Is there a solution?  Have I missed some easy step here or is this the expected behavior now?

Sorry, I'm printing using the PDFMaker Office Add-in (toolbar).
[[You might also check the Adobe PDF printer properties to be sure you  have not changed that to B&W.]]
If the printer properties were B&W then the color JPG (logo) would be B&W in the PDF, but it's not, it's color.  It's only the text that is B&W.  But, of course, I double-checked (to be sure) and confirmed that it is set to color.
[[ If you are using PDF Maker, you might select the Adobe PDF printer  first]]
Well, that's why I'm posting the question.  Why would I need to change printers in order to create the PDF when, since version 4, I never had to do this?  I'd like to figure out what has happened and how to fix it.

Hello @penalgade , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're looking into print issues.  I would like to help!
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Acrobat 8 Pro and Office 2007 Problem

I posted this in the CS3 forum originally. They told me to post here too.
    Issue:
When logged in as a local user (no admin rights) Word 2007 will crash the whole computer when you type a key.
The reason I am posting on Adobe forums is that this only happens when CS3 is installed as well on the same computer.
    Troubleshooting:
Both products work fine as a local user account, if only one or the other are installed.
During login, Acrobat Pro will display a MSI/Installer progress bar for about 30secs. After I updated Acrobat to 8.1.3, that stops, but the Word crashing problem doesn't.
When starting Office, setup runs everytime. It shows just a progress bar and goes for about 1min.
On a doc, if I wait about 5min and don't do anything. A MSI install progress bar will run for "MS Office 2007 Pro", this will re-spawn for several mins. until it finally stops. After that, Word IS usable.
    No other problems with CS3.
Fully updated both CS3 and Office 2007
This could very well be an Office issue, but it is associated with CS3 also being installed on the same computer.
    Any help would be great!

Forgot again! Using XP Pro sp2 and sp3.

  • MS Office 2007 Excel files pdf conversion using Adobe Acrobat 7.1.0 Professional

How can I use Adobe Acrobat 7.1.0 Professional to convert EXCEL files (to pdf) from MS Office 2007?

I don't think Acrobat 7 can recognize Office 2007 files; Acrobat 7 was released way before Office 2007.

  • Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 won't create PDFs by itself or within an Office 2007 application. Please help.

Well, needless to say, everything was working fine when our department was running Acrobat 7 and Office 2003. We made the choice a few weeks ago to upgrade to Office 2007 and Acrobat 8. Both are pushed via Group Policy. One other thing to note, as I think it might be an issue, is that our users have their My Documents redirected to a server. I only mention this, because the Default PDF Output Folder within Acrobat 8 is My Documents.
Here are the strange things that we've noticed so far:
    1) When you open up the Adobe PDF Properties within Printers and Faxes, the Location displays an "x" followed by two non-standard box characters that I can't seem to write out here. I've uploaded a screen shot if that makes it easier. On a manually installed copy of Acrobat 8, this location box will say My Documents.
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_weird_characters.png
    2) The Adobe PDF printer port grabs LPT1, even if there is another printer already on that port. This behavior is seen when being pushed via GPO. When it's manually installed via the disc, Adobe PDF gets it's own special port "My Documents\*.pdf" with a description of "Adobe PDF Port". When I try to see if I can add such a port on the GPO pushed computers, it doesn't list it as an option. Here again are two screen shots to show what I'm talking about.
    Weird Port:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_weird_port.png
    Adobe Port:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_correct_port.png
Ok, so those are just the oddities seen after performing a GPO installation.
    3) When I right click on a Word 2007 (*.docx) file and choose "Convert to Adobe PDF", it asks me where I want to save the newly created PDF at. It will start converting it, but a few seconds later a balloon error pops up saying that the document failed to print.
    4) When I try to create a PDF via the Word 2007 ribbon add-on for Acrobat, I get the same error.
I decided to bump a standard user up to administrator of the local machine. All these errors go away and they can create PDFs to their heart's content. As soon as I bump them back down to a standard user, new errors arise.
    5) Now when they try to create a PDF, they get prompted TWICE for the PDF Save As location. When I click on Convert to PDF via the context menu of the Word 2007 file, I get the Adobe PDF Status box, then a few seconds later, I get the Save Adobe PDF File As box. I tell it where to save the PDF to. I then get a second box asking me where to save the PDF to, but it's titled different. This new box is "Save PDF File As". Whatever location I choose there, I get an Access Denied error and an Adobe Printer error that the document has failed to print. I've created screen shots of those as well. Here they are in order:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_01.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_02.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_03.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_04.png
Does anyone have any solutions whatsoever to fix this? I'm not about to go around to 100 computers and install Acrobat manually when it should work correctly via GPO. If Acrobat doesn't like the fact that a user My Documents is redirected to the server, I noticed that I can change the default PDF file location within the Adobe Customization Wizard. I've not tested that yet to see if it would even help.
I should mention that I have tried running a repair. Didn't help. Uninstalling and reinstalling via GPO. Didn't help. So, we've installed the Microsoft Office PDF Creator plug-in and that works perfectly. For the time being Acrobat Pro has basically dropped itself down to a reader for all intents and purposes.

@ Bill@VT: I did try adding a port. That's the problem. When it's on a problematic installation, those special Adobe Port aren't available for me to choose from.
OK, I have some new information regarding my issue. I've done some more testing and this is what I have learned and how I arrived at that conclusion.
b It appears to be an issue with the 8.1.2 update.
    1) I manually installed Acrobat 8.0.0 via the executable file I downloaded from Adobe Licensing. I had to go through all the installation prompts, enter the serial key, accept the EULA, etc. I even applied the 8.1.0 update. At this point, everything was fine. Any user on this computer could create PDFs via any method. The Adobe PDF Port was correct and no listed under LPT1 like in the above screen shots. And My Documents was listed as the Default PDF Location, even though users have their My Docs redirected to the server. Like I said, everything worked perfectly.
    2) I decided to install via the Administrative Install Point (AIP) on the server for Acrobat 8.1.2 and the corresponding transform file. After doing this, the problems came back. My first assumption is that the transform file is causing the problem.
    3) To verify that it was in fact the transform file I perform an install from the AIP using the AcroPro.msi file only. No switches and no transform file. Guess what? Problems are still there. So, that wipes out the transform file problem.
    A couple of notes:
It could be related to the AIP and doing administrative installation upgrades to 8.1.2. My next test is to install 8.0.0 from scratch and manually upgrade that installation to 8.1.0, then 8.1.1, then 8.1.2 to find out when and if it breaks.
I was able to get a contact number for Adobe's "Volume Licensing" department, so I might end up giving them a call. In fact, even if I narrow down what appears to be the problem, I'm still going to have to give them a call to find out what can be done about it. Because at the moment, the issue is there for 100+ users and something needs to be fixed. All I'm doing at this point is working backwards to figure out what may have caused the problem in the first place.

  • Acrobat XI Pro crashes Office 2007 Powerpoint when converting to pdf

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 x64 and Office 2007.  I also have Acrobat XI Pro.  When I convert a .ppt powerpoint file to .pdf, powerpoint stops working.
When I click Convert to pdf, Acrobat prepares the slides and then begins publishing and about 1/4 of the way through I get a message that powerpoint has stopped working.
I have run the Office Diagnostics and it found nothing.
I have reinstalled Acrobat and it didn't help
Is there a compatibility issue?  Would an older version of Acrobat Pro work such as Acrobat 9 or 10?
Is there an Acrobat Preference that I could change that would solve the problem?
    Thanks
    Tracy

Thank you, it actually turned out to be the specific document, other

  • Office 2007 and Acrobat 9 pro?

Hello everyone -- Does anyone know if Office 2007 will work with Acrobat 9 pro.  I was happily using Office 2003 and Outlook to save my e-mail in indexed pdf portfolios.  I could search all e-mail folders and keep separate files for each e-mail correspondent.  In addition, I could open attachments from within the pdf document.  My entire filing system is dependent on being able to do this.  I was forced to upgrade Office 2003 (because microsoft mistakenly assumed my copy was illegal even though it wasn't, but that's another story).  Microsoft no longer sells Office 2003, so I bought Office 2010.  That program is a disaster for me for many reasons.  I would be willing to adjust if I could keep saving my outlook e-mail as I was able to do before, but from what I can tell that is going to be impossible.  So I'm thinking of downgrading to Office 2007?  Does anyone know if that will work.  I'd be very grateful for some helpful info.  I have been around in circles with both Adobe and Microsoft.  Thanks.

    Hello,
I'm sorry to tell you this, but I'm afraid you're in the wrong forum! This forum is for questions pertaining to Acrobat.com (www.acrobat.com) and we aren't able to provide specific guidance for questions or issues regarding Acrobat desktop software. That said, Acrobat 9 should have no problem working with Office 2007; it shipped after Office 2007 had come out, and will almost certainly be compatible. You may want to corroborate this information by reposting your question in the Acrobat forums:

  • Application Virtualization 4.6 (SoftGrid) Acrobat Pro 9.2 and Office 2007

I'm actually trying to sequence Acrobat Pro 9.2 together with Office 2007 in a dynamic suite composition with Application Virtualization 4.6 RC.
I can sequence both applications and deploy them to the client. Everything seems to work fine, except the Acrobat plug-in in office. When I start Word or another office application, i can see the tab "Acrobat" and can choose the option to create a PDF of the actual document. If the Office application was started the first time since the logon, the PDF is going to be created as it should... no error. If I'd like to create a second PDF an error occures, saying that Adobe Acrobat can't be used because it's not activated (Its a volume license installation). The same error when I close and start the office application again. When I log off and log in, it works again the first time. Starting Acrobat without Office (independent) everything works and no such error appears. The Problem is that, the virtual application resides active (in use) in the App-V console after closing (maybe thats a normal behavior when two packages are dependent in a dynamic suite composition...).
I think there's a problem with the combination of App-V and the licensing system used by Adobe. Is it possible to install the licensing component seperately from Acrobat (during the sequencing a FlexNet service were identified? I could not find appropriate setup files to do so... Maybe its possible to solve the problem by installing the licensing component localy on the computer and then the virtualized application uses this component to check the license status or whatever is going to be checked...
    Thanks for any hint...

The first problem is probably a permissions issue. Run Repair Permissions from the Disk Utility. For the second see this

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional / Office 2007

    Buenas tardes,

    Saludos.

  • Acrobat 9/Vista - Can only covert Office 2007 documents to PDF once before having to stop acrtoray.e

I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, Office 2007, and Vista Ultimate 64 with UAC off. I can only convert from an Office document (.doc, .xls) to PDF once before getting problems, after which I have to close the acrotray.exe process in Task Manager (or restart Vista) to get it to work again.
After I successfully convert an Office document, on future attempts it says "Adobe Acrobat is not activated. Cannot create the PDF file."
If in Word I instead choose to Print to Adobe PDF, it says "Word is preparing to background print the document:" but then hangs and I have to stop the program. An error box then says "Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated."
After ending the acrotray.exe process or restarting the computer it works again, but like before only one time. Opening Acrobat and choosing Repair Acrobat Installation doesn't fix the problem unless I restart, which would fix it anyway.
Is there a permanent solution to this issue?

I Also have the same Problem
When u try to convert word/XLS/TXT to PDF i get this error and when i kill the acrotray process from taskmanager i am able to generate the PDF.
Can anyone of u please let me know what is the problem about and how to solve it.

  • Help! DistMon error with Acrobat 9 Pro and XP using Office 2007

One of our users is getting this error message when Excel opens. "The message reads, “compile error in hidden module:  DistMon.”
The computer's OS is XP and they use Office 2007. I could only finds posts on this topic for Office 2003 and Acrobat 8. The problem hasn't occurred on other computer's (so far) using XP that have just upgraded to Office 2007. Any advice?

The only seem that seems to work is deleting the Normal.dot but that is only temporary. On the machine is rebooted you have to delete it again.

  • Acrobat 9.1.1 pro, Excel 2007, pagination problems

I have just upgraded from CS3 to CS4 Design Standard. I have been accustomed to producing PDFs from Excel 07 with Acrobat 8 pro, normally selecting a number of sheets from the same Excel workbook to creat a single PDF. I normally use the "page # of  ##" option in Excel for my footer, which would come through just fine in Acrobat 8. In Acrobat 9, each page is instead reflected as "Page 1 of 1" in the PDF file, and I cannot get Acrobat to properly reflect the true number of pages.
As a late upgrader, I know there are likely others who have run into this problem, and I would greatly appreciate learning what the solution might be. Thanks for your assistance.
    Hat

The toolbar item (PDF Maker) is often used by folks due to convenience or simply not trying the other option. You might want to try both and note the size difference. There are a lot of features that can be turned off in PDF Maker that will reduce the size. The major reason to use the PDF Maker is typically for the bookmarks and links that it will retain for the PDF (these are lost with the printer by itself).
I have found some differences between PDF Maker and the Adobe PDF printer results for OFFICE 2007. That may be the issue you are running into. If found it was a result of OFFICE 2007 and not Acrobat, at least that was the conclusion I reached. I was looking at some graphics issues in PPT files.
Since the printer worked for you, you might want to check the preferences in PDF Maker to see if one of them is causing your problem. That is about all I can suggest.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro and Office 2007 - Incompatibility??

I have been reading comments on other forums about a compatibility issues between these two softwares. See Amazon product feedback reviews on Acrobat 9 Pro for example.
Is this a issue users here are experiencing?.

Some of what I saw was someone coming to AA9 from AA5. For OFFICE 2007 he had no choice if he wanted the PDF Maker functionality. There is likely an issue, possibly with either AA9 or OFFICE not being updated. Being sure you are up to date is important. Currently AA9 appears to have no updates, only an add-on. However, it may be that OFFICE 2007 has updates, in fact likely. The bottom line is that the complaints did not provide enough information to see if it was an AA9 problem, MS problem, or a user problem. Enough folks seem to have survived the transition successfully, it is a good chance that the latter problem may be the issue in that forum.
The comment on support is not new in concept. That has been a complaint for as long as I can remember with past versions too. I think it was with AA5 that I started coming to the forum, and that was the move that saved me a lot of time and frustration (other than I now spend a lot of time on the forum).
For comments about compatibility, I would search this forum and see what others have had problems with and the solutions that have been suggested. I think you will get a much better feel for the compatibility. Two of the comments on the link praised the software.

  • MS Word not listed in Acrobat 9 supported file type (Windows 7 64 + Office 2007)

    Installation details:
    Windows 7 64bit O/S
    MS Office 2007
    Acrobat 9 Professional
When attempting to create a PDF from multiple files or combine multiple files into one PDF (single or package/portfollio) Microsoft Word is not listed in the supported file type drop down menu. This means when I navigate to a folder containing *.doc files I cannot see them. I tried adding *.doc files via drag and drop but Acrobat listed red exclamation marks stating it could not convert that file type. MS Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher appear in the supported file type list.
I believe this may be a Windows 7 compatibility issue as the same problem occured when using Acrobat 8 Standard prior to installing Acrobat 9 Professional. MS Word files are supported when both Acrobat 8 & 9 are installed on a Windows XP system.
I can create a PDF of individual MS Word documents using the acrobat tab inside MS Word itself.
I have thousands of Word files I need to combine into PDF portfollios (packages in Acrobat 8 I believe).
My great appreciation if you can provide any help.
    Regards
    Sunny

OK. Then do you mean the thumbnails in Windows Explorer? I don't have a solution for that, but there have been several posts about the issue.
Well, thumbnails in Explorer don't work either, but we're not concerned about it.  The preview pane is what we're worried about.  There is a button in the top-right that turns the pane on.  Previewing in Outlook does not work either.
