Acrobat 8 creating overlapping hyperlink areas

I created a 50 page word document and added a Table of contents. The items in table of contents are hyperlinked to the sections in the document. When I convert it to PDF, the hyperlinks get converted too, but their "hover" area is too big.
The result is that even when my cursor is 1/2 inch away from the link, I can click the link. On the table of contents page, this has created overlapping links. If I click on a link, it takes me to some other page. Curiously enough, the same thing happened when I tried to make a PDF from a newsletter I made in InDesign.
Any solutions for this problem?

Thanks for the suggestion.
Now that you mentioned it, I changed the font and now it works fine. It is font specific. I was originally using Cambria font.
When I make the PDF directly from Word's PDF plugin, I do not have this problem. It is only with Acrobat.
I am using Word 2007. My Acrobat version is 8.1.3.

I'VE CREATED A FORM WITH IMAGES. WHEN I OPEN THE FILE IN ACROBAT READER THE IMAGES ARE BLACK BOXES.
THE FORM HAs (extend features to acrobat reader). THE FORM WAS DISTRIBUTED.
NON OF MY EMPOYEES CAN SEE THE IMAGES. WHAT'S WRONG? CAN YOU HELP?

However, the view large images is an issue for a form that is being distributed. Either a note needs to be added to the PDF to tell how to enable the view or the images need to be changed so that the enabling is not needed.

    Solution:
I just updated my '''Adobe Acrobat X Pro''' to '''Version 10.1.0'''.By the way, I have to complain, Adobe is really slow in solving this problem...
Here is the official link for the Adobe Acrobat update.[http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135 <click me!>http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135<click me!>]
After update, the extention changed from "Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0" into "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1". And the '''"Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1" is compatiable with the firefox 4.0.1'''. A screenshot is attached as a proof.

  • Hyperlinks are dead when Pages file is exported as a PDF

When I export a file from Pages '09, version 4.0.5, to a PDF file, the hyperlinks do not work. The Pages help menu states "Hyperlinks in your Pages document are exported to the PDF file. Hyperlinks are also created in the PDF file for table of contents entries, footnotes and endnotes, webpages, email addresses, and bookmarks." I am opening the PDF files in Acrobat Reader. What is the problem here?

I discovered the problem. Being new to Pages, I did not realize that the text layer had to be in front of the transparent shapes that I was using as backgrounds, in order for the links to be clickable in a pdf file.
For sure, putting background objects *_at front_* is not a good idea

  • How do I create a hyperlink to open a document in a new window?

My operating systems is: Windows 7
    Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI
I have created a user guide in MS Word 2013 which contains hyperlinks to other documents.
I print to PDF but the hyperlinks are no longer accessible as they are converted to text once the guide is turned into a PDF.
Adobe Tools has a Add or Edit Link tool; I have tried several times to create a link using this tool with no success.
The documents I am trying to open are located on a intranet sharepoint site.
Please help if you know how to add a hyperlink to open a document from a weblink.
    Thank you

    Of course.....
Yes I entered the correct URL however once I click on the link in the PDF nothing happens.
The only change to PDF is a pretty blue box surrounding what should be the hyperlink.
Any other helpful suggest that are not the obivious?

  • Creating a hyperlink in a form to send to an email

I'm pretty new at using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard and I'm trying to make a form to put on my company's website.  I want to create a hyperlink that will submit the form to my email once a client has fill it out.  I have been testing it and sending the pdf to myself and I'm getting the error, Unable to locate the form, because the FDF lacks and /F key.  If the FDF came back as a result of a submit from a PDF form, then the URL is probably missing "#FDF" at the end.  I then tried putting the "#FDF" at the end of the URL which was mailto:myemailaddress"#FDF" and it didn't work so I'm just not really sure what to try next.

THe #FDF that you can add at the end of the URI is not relevant to submitting by email,(via mailto), only when submitting to a web server. It tells Reader/Acrobat to expect an FDF response from the server, as opposed to an HTML response or something else. So don't include it when using a mailto URI.
The FDF file that you receive will contain the form data and it can be imported into a blank form. If the FDF does not contain an /F key, then you'll have to manually import the FDF into a blank form using Acrobat. Exactly how you do this depends on which version of Acrobat you're using. In Acrobat 9 you'd select: Forms > Manage Form Data > Import Data
and select the FDF that you received.
An alternative is to set up the submit form action to submit the entire filled-in PDF. For this to work, the document has to be Reader-enabled for those who use a pre-11 version of Reader, or if the form uses digital signatures. (Since you're using Acrobat Standard, digital signatures are not a concern since Standard can't enable a document to allow them.) The main problem with this approach is there are licensing restrictions. In short, if you make the form available to more than 500 recipients (as you do when posting on a publicly accessible web site, for example), you can use data form no more than 500 instances of the form that have been returned to you. When a form is set up to submit as FDF, there are no such licensing restrictions involved, but it does mean the additional step of importing the data into a blank form if you need to have a filled-in version.

  • How do I create a hyperlink to a specific section of a flash website?

Ok, I have no experience coding in flash, I just want to
create links to specific parts of a flash website (website that
were created by other people, not that I am building). In other
words, I just want to create the hyperlink that will open a certain
section of the website - I'm not developing the site and I don't
want to create links inside the site. Is there any way to do this?
    For example:
    http://www.lucasarts.com/games/fracture/
is the flash site I want to link to. Wherever I navigate in
the site, the address never changes in my browser. But I know it is
possible to get a URL to a specific flash page, because I have seen
some of the web admins post them.
    For example:
    http://www.lucasarts.com/games/fracture/?section=2&sub=5
which opens a very specific section of the site. So is there
anyway for me, an average computer user with no experience in flash
coding, to get a hyperlink to open a certain section of a flash
site, or at the least get my browser to display the specific URL
(that is, the "?section=2&sub=5" part of the address). I use
firefox, but am willing to try anything or any browser at this
    point.
    Thanks!

My Flash sites use a section and subSection structure, and
within the site I use the numbers to display specific areas. But
it's done internally. I have no code that looks at a query string
attached to the URL so supplying the numbers to my sites will have
no effect. The example you give clearly does read parameters passed
in a query string so if you know the correct numbers (and the param
names eg 'section') then you can do it.

  • How do I export from PDF to PPT so that shapes created in Illustrator are editable

How do I export from PDF to PPT so that shapes created in Illustrator are editable, not just text on top of them? I used the Acrobat XL Pro technique described here (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdf-to-powerpoint-pptx-converter.html), to export a graphic I had created in Illustrator and saved as an Adobe PDF file, but shapes are not editable and are fuzzy too. Is there a way to export a complete Illustrator graphic to PowerPoint?

Thanks Bill. Of course I realize I can insert an Illustrator drawing into a PPT without making it a PDF first. What I’m trying to do is insert a drawing from Illustrator that is still editable in PPT (a client request). Using the Acrobat XL Pro capability shown in this video <http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdf-to-powerpoint-pptx-converter.html> , only the text is editable in PPT, not shapes created in Illustrator.

  • How can i create a hyperlink annotation on a pdf file using preview? the tool is removed from the toolbar

It seems that the tool to create an hyperlink on a pdf file is removed from the toolbar!

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.

  • How can I create a hyperlink at the end of my video?

    Hi everyone-
Is it possible to create a hyperlink (or clickable URL) at the end of my video in Premiere Pro? I'd like to be able to have some simple language to an end card reading, "To learn more, click here" with a hyperlink leading to a relevant website.
(I know there are ways to do this in YouTube with Annotations, but this isn't my question. This video will not be hosted on YouTube.)
    Thanks!

As noted in the other reply, this isn't done through the video editor. It's something that needs to be available from the hosting service for the video ... and handled through that end. The sort of command that says "at this point in the timeline clicking on video gets this reaction ... ". So check with whatever "service" will be hosting it for the details of how they handle this, and then you would add the text into your video at the appropriate moment in "time" ... but it would actually be the command system of the hosting service that would have the actionable command.

  • How to create a hyperlink on a pop up window?

    Hi,
How to create a hyperlink on a pop up window?
The pop up window appears on right click in a transaction.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Varun

    Hi Varun,
While in transaction CRMD_BUS2000111 -> Opportunity -> select any -> partner tab, when I right click I get a standard pop up.
I want to introduce my hyperlink in that standard pop up.
you should have mentioned that earlier, that's the most complex part!
This is called a contextual menu (for more information, read [SAP Library: Context Menus|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/94/c4a6377cc0c92ce10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm ]).
Adding a menu item (that is not called an hyperlink, or is there something I didn't understand?) there is probably a modification of the standard. Either modifying the ABAP, or adding it to a GUI status of type "contextual menu".
There are number of demo programs, like DEMO_DYNPRO_CONTEXT_MENU, CTMENU_BUILD, CTMENU_DYNPRO...

  • Creating a hyperlink to an IM

    Hi all,
I am curious to know if anyone is aware of a method to launch an instant message when a user clicks on an image within a site. The site is for internal use and we are all on MS Lync.
The link is similar to an email link 'mailto:[email protected]' but instead using 'sip:[email protected]' - tested this elsewhere and it works great.
I have tried typing this into the hyperlink area yet it auto-converts it to a 'mailto' link.
I have been succesful in creating a text link using the following: <a href="sip:[email protected]">text here</a> inserted as HTML.  If I could do the same but link it to an image on my site instead of text this would be perfect.
    Any other suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks in advance

    Thank you for posting.
It is possible to link  <a href="sip:[email protected]">text here</a> with an image when inserted as HTML. You need to insert the image as HTML and add the href code in the image code. Something like this :
    <a href="sip:[email protected]">
    <img src="path/image.png" alt="Pulpit rock">
    </a>
Please refer to the following document for more info : http://www.w3schools.com/HTML/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_imglink
    Hope this helps.
