Acrobat 8 Distiller NOT re-installed - HELP!!!

I just tried to Chat with Adobe about this.  I am using a "too old" version and they can't help!!  I don't know what to do. I can't afford to PURCHASE another Acrobat.  I had to Re-install my CS3 Web Premium Suite (Photoshope was messing up) and when I did Distiller didn't load.  It kept asking me about a new disc or something for Distiller.  I didn't know what it was talking about until I wanted to print to a pdf and Distiller wasn't there.  HELP!!!!!!!!!

Just to check to be sure, are you talking about a printer or the actual Distiller program? With AA 8, the printer name is Adobe PDF (been that since AA6 and was the Acrobat Distiller printer prior to AA6). I was just wondering if you had an old AD printer around before and that is what you were looking for. If so, look for the Adobe PDF printer instead. Distiller itself is a program that should be in your programs list. I am asking just in case. Sounds like you are having an issue with needed an additional disk for your installation, but thought the question might be worth the time.

    Have you done ALL OF THIS?
    In Firefox make sure you have at least two (2) tabs open - (Ctrl+T opens a new tab)
    In the address bar of one tab, type "about:config" - minus the quotes, of course
    You'll see a warning. Click "I'll be careful, I promise" and continue to the configuration page.
    There's a search bar at the top. Type "js" - again, minus the quotes.
    In the results you'll see pdfjsviewer.disabled with a vaule of false. Click it once, then right click it and choose Toggle to make the value "True".
    Close that tab.
    Click Tools>Options and go to the Applications tab
    Locate Adobe Acrobat Document (or Portable Document File (PDF)) in the list and click the drop-down to select "Use Adobe Reader (in Firefox)". (Mine doesn't have that because I also have Acrobat Pro installed)
    Click OK.
    Click Tools>Addons to see that the Acrobat plugin is installed
    Close and restart Firefox. PDFs should now open in a browser window with the Reader plugin.

    I had reader forever. I had a problem with Flash so I un-installed everything to do with adobe. No I have re-installed flash and activex but adobe reader will not istall or download from the website. Please help me get a download link for reader.

    You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    Then, download the full offline Reader installer from 
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    and run it immediately after restarting your computer.

  • The ColdFusion ODBC Server service has not been installed, HELP!

    My applications are crashing because recently we rebuilt our server and coldfusion will not install the ODBC server srvice that I need for our access databases. I can still use the Access with Unicode driver but my applications are crashing where there is a text input field and more that 255 characters is being entered. The field is of 'memo' value already in access which is sussposed to support up to 65,000 characters. Does anyone know how to install this because I have reinstalled CF 8 like 3 times on our server adn the only answer I have found to fixing my errors is taht the Unicode driver is crashing them but I cnat use regular access driver because the ODBC service wont install. Please help adn dont ever use access db if you dont have to.

    So i exchange the datasource.cfc files like it says then I just put the installODBC.cfm in the CFIDE folder and went to http://myserver/CFIDE/installODBC.cfm and ran the application but had abother problem with authentication ,"the user does not have permission" so I opeened the installODBC.cfm in an editor and noticed that the line said,     adminObj.login("admin"); which wanted a default password for the system setup but if you have your own password setup for security reasons (which you should) it wont run. So go into you CFAdmin, then go to Security > Administrator > then select no authentication needed the try to reload the installODBC.cfm page and it will execute and say that "ODBC Services installed". Then change back to having a single password needed.
    Good Luck if you ever have this stupid problem...

    What version of Internet explorer do you have?
    Moreover IE interfering with Acrobat installation is highly unlikely.
    You might want to follow the following basic troubleshooting steps :

    Also, once you successfully install, please backup the install file to a separate HD and/or CD. I agree that your comment is not clear. You say you installed it, but it is simply in the download folder. Did you run the install file that you downloaded? The download does not install the program, but the install is an extra step.

  • Acrobat 9 Will not activate in CS4.HELP!

    HELP!
    I bought CS4 suite a couple years ago and I love it all. However, i bought a  new computer recently (windows 8). CS4 has 2pc installation so I installed the software from the origional disks and used the same serial number and everything seemed to go fine Illustrator, Photoshop,Indesign and everything seemed to work fine except for Acrobat pro 9. It asks for a serial number to use it or to use it as a trial and will not accept my serial number for the suite.
    1. First I attempted to uninstall and reinstall myself. Same problem
    2. I uninstalled, restarted, then uninstalled
    3. I connected to adobe tech support chat where I repeated the above steps thats 4 installs at this point.
    4. I have an external optical drive so it takes a while to install the whole suite so the tech had me copy the installation dvd contentes on the desktop then uninstall and install again. Same problem
    5. then the tech had me uninstall the software, run a removal tool then reinstall. Same problem
    6 After 6 hours Of chat i had to leave.
    7. I reconnected to chat help again with a support number a few days later. Of coarse I had to uninstall again, run the removal tool again, then remove a data file from a folder. Tried to reinstall which failed because of the missing data file.
    8. i then was instructed to copy all the files from the DVD again to the desktop after explaining that i had already done this and try to uninstall and reinstall again. Same problem. After 4 hours at this i called it a night.
    9. a few days later i actually called tech support on the phone where after 10 minutes of questioning confirming my identity and making sure i was not trying to scam adobe into getting something for free heaven forbid I was asked yet again to uninstall and run the removal tool (this is 9 uninstalls and reinstalls we are up to now.)
    10. After the above still didnt work i was instructed to uninstall again and this time install from the DVD. Again this is an hour long process because of a USB 2.0 External optical drive. After about 45 minutes of waiting and poppin in and out to check on my progress the tech disconnected me after too much time had elapsed and told me to call back. Total length of the call was about 3 hours.
    there were several steps I am sure I forgot in this post. With a few of the techs we tried deleting different files and reinstalling and such. Before anyone asks i did have my antivirus shut down and no other programs were running during installation. Bottom line I paid alot of money for this suite and I need it to work. I do not have the time or the patience to reinstall and uninstall again (after 10 times). After ten installs and over 15 hours of tech support who do I need to contact someone who can get me a new serial number for Acrobat 9 so i can get this thing working again. I refuse to pay $500 for a new number for a program i have already paid for. I WILL NOT REINSTALL AGAIN. I just need someone to help me out here.

    1. Acrobat 9 is not Windows 8 compatible.
    2. Have you installed a regular version of Acrobat or the version that came with CS4. The CS4 version picks up the activation from the suite and cannot be separately activated. It could be that the activation information is not being transmitted in Windows 8.
