Acrobat 8 install forced change to different Windows Default Printer

Immediately after installing Adobe 8 Pro my Windows default printer changed and I can't get it to stay set to the default that I want. Everytime I restart my computer the Windows default printer is set to the one it changed to after installing Acrobat 8 (not the one I had set as default the last time I used the computer).
Also, everytime I restart my computer I get a "Please Wait while Adobe Acrobat Installs..." dialog. I also get this dialog the first time I open any MS Office application following every computer restart.
Win XP

Aandi - I am going through the Windows Start button... Printers and Faxes, then right-clicking on the printer that I want as my default printer and selecting 'Set as Default Printer'. It remains the default printer until I restart my computer. Then the printer that the Acrobat installation set as the default comes back as the default.

  • Want to change Form MDI Window default icon as well as default window icon

    Hi,
    I am using oracle forms 10g. I need to change the mdi window default icon as well as default window icon of inner form. But i do not know the way. Pls help me.

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/webutil/webutil.htm
    webutil lets you access the client machine from webforms. you'll need to install it on the application server and include the webutil library and object group in the form which will change the MDI window's icon (probably the first form in the application).

  • Can Reader pick up the Default Page Size of a printer that is not the Windows Default Printer?

    We have a web based application that generates PDF documents via Crystal Reports.
    We are using Adobe Reader 8
    The PDF pages are displayed within an Internet Explorer window where the the users then print the document.
    The application is designed so the user only gets one chance to print the document (ie they cant come back and change printer settings if they happen to print the document out incorrectly)
    The document needs to be printed on A3 paper, full duplex.
    We have a printer set-up decidated to the printing of the documents generated by this application.  The default page size of this printer is set of A3.
    If we set this dedicated printer as the Windows Default Printer we have no problems at all.  The default page size (A3) is picked up and the document is printed correctly.
    If any other printer is set as the Windows Default Printer (eg one that has a default page size of A4), the users must obviously select the correct printer from the Print Dialogue Box -however when the user selects the dedicated A3 printer, the page size remains as A4 (page size of the Windows Default Printer).  This means the user must remember to change the paper size to A3 each time.
    Out users find IT a struggle at the best of times - anything that makes the process simpler is very welcomed!
    Is there a way to ensure the default page size of the printer is respected when that printer is not the Windows Default Printer?
    Thanks!

    No.

  • My windows default printer is an HP 2015, but when I print anything from Firefox it defaults to Adobe. Can I fix this?

    When I try to print from Firefox, the Adobe PDF printer is pre-selected in the printer dialog box, even though my default windows printer is a laser jet.
    Both printers work just fine, but changing printers every time is a nuisance.
    This happens whenever I print anything on Firefox, including emails.

    Sorry, Firefox doesn't use the Windows "default printer" as the default printer, but rather it uses the last used printer as the "default". That doesn't always happen when the printer involved goes into stand-by and is "offline", from what I have seen on my small LAN.
    Just one of the hundreds of print related Bugs or nuisances in Firefox that I doubt will ever be fixed, until they write all new code for printing

  • Use of windows default printer causes labels to be mis-printed.

    I am printing a crystal report via the vb.net viewer to an avery dennison label printer.
    I have configured the size of the label for the avery dennison into the Seagull driver that exists on the workstation where I am printing the report.
    The crystal report has been configured to use the printer name and page size from the driver on the workstation.
    When I make the Avery Dennison printer on the workstation the windows default printer and print the report to the Avery Dennison printer, the label prints out correctly.
    When I make another printer on the workstation the windows default printer and print the label to the Avery Dennison printer, the label prints across two labels.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Praveen,
    #No of Copies#  in transaction /SCWM/PRWO6   is not actual number of copies . This is more  an index how the number of copies is determined . Please use F4  on this field and you will see that index 2 means "Number of Copies" = 1.
    In Transaction /SCWM/ 60000431 you need to actual number of copies for your document. But this number  is only taken if you set the index in /SCWM/PRWO6 to "0".
    I hope this information helps you.

  • I installed a new printer and set it as the Windows default printer but Thunderbird won't find it.

    Using Windows 8.1 - x64 - Thunderbird 31.3.0 (Firefox 34.0.5 has found the new default printer)
    I read about resetting printer.printer_printer and printer_printer but....
    printer.printer_printer did not exist in the file.
    Then I found printer_printer and chose "reset" closed and saved the file then closed and restarted Thunderbird.
    But now the printer_printer command has disappeared completely from the file and the old printer info was left unchanged.
    Then I went to the Windows "Printers and Devices" menu and deleted the old printer that Thunderbird was pointing to.
    Then I closed Thunderbird again restarted Thunderbird and now the "print" command in the file menu is greyed out.
    (Also the old printer info is still unchanged in the config file )
    I would reinstall Thunderbird and just start over except I have about a dozen email accounts on several servers and have spent a lot of time recently on reconfiguring them to work on upgraded servers. Also I don't know how to save my emails if I reinstall Thunderbird (Is it possible to do this?)
    I've googled for ideas but haven't found anything beyond the reset function.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Adobe Reader changes Windows default printer?

    Hello.
    Currently our customers are complaning about the anomaly, that the default printer is sometimes changed after printing *.pdf's with Adobe Reader. I have never heard of a problem like this before and am even not able, to confirm this behaviour.
    That is why I want to ask you, if you have ever heared of something similar like this. Under which circumstances does Adobe Reader print on another non-default printer automatically? Btw. I don't know how to handle this problem so far.
    Yours,
    Moeki.

    Interesting! What was the color scheme prior to launch? Does this problem happen on every launch of Reader X? What if you restore the color scheme and re-launch Reader? If possible can you stick a screenshot of the issue you just described.

  • [SOLVED] LSDP changes Start Page and default printer

    Hi!
    If I install LSDP two things happen:
    1) My Start Page in Internet Explorer gets reset to some old value
    2) The setting to change the default printer when I change network is switch off and a fixed printer is set as the default.
    Is it possible to disable these annoying features?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Ok , this is silly. The Lenovo Settings Dependency Package is basis for Lenovo Settings, a Modern style application.
    Lenovo Settings includes Location Awareness, with that you can change the default printer, the start page and VPN settings as well as security settings (printer and file sharing, firewall). This excellent feature was availbable under a different name on Windows 7 as well and is just the best thing since sliced bread.
    Mystery solved. Ignore W8 location aware default printers and use Lenovo Settings exclusively.
    Two remarks though.
    1) Documentation of these Lenovo software products is less than ideal. It probably is a chinees thîng. Just look at the sheer number of posts in these forums on this theme. Better documenation would lead to less confusion and irritation and most of all less posts all asking the same question. By the way the new interface of Windows 8 is called Modern not Metro.
    2) Yet another app to change settings. Since W8 we have PC Settings and good old Control Panel. Now comes a thrid settings application wich removes settings done with the first two without notice. Why not tie in with the existing applications and include them, for instance, with PC settings? Or at least use the information?
    But more important: Document, document. document. All the Readme's are in fact release notes. Release notes are not documentation.

  • Windows Default Printer to be picked automatically

    Hi All,
    My Client requirement is to have the Window's default printer to be used as the default printer to print the SAP documents (PO).
    User insists not to change the SU3 default printer and want to leave it blank and want the printer assigned to system/machine to be considered as default printer. How can we meet this requirement?
    Thanks in Advance
    Shash

    How did you test.
    I usually test with printing a stock overview of a material from MMBE.
    Purchase order printing is a kind different, as this is usually done via message conditions, but it can be setup to work with printer from user profile.
    LOCL printer has to be defined by your basis team in transaction SPAD, and the link to the frontend printer is made there.

  • How to find windows default printer name

    Hi Experts,
    I have one requirement.....smartform should print in local default printer.
    you might be known in windows we can set default printer name .
    Suppose when the user executes my program, smartform should print in the default windows printer. not sap default printer. I tried by giving printer name as LOCL. In that case it is displaying pop-window by showing printer name. I don't want to see that pop-up window.
    If I pass printer name in the smartform function module.. it is not displaying pop-up window and printing directly.
    For this we need to findout what is the default printer of that particular system.
    I think ... there will be method / FM to findout the front end default printer name...
    Pls help me..

    Hi Raghu,
    Check the following tables to fetch the printer settings of a user.
    TSPUSRSEL - Spool: User-Specific Settings
    TSP03D   Spool: Device Description (New Format)
    So that you can use this detail and can fill the printer name.
    Hope this will be useful.

  • Font placement changing with different window resolution

    I am editing a site with 1366x720 resolution, I am placing
    text on top of an image, it looks fine, if i change my resolution
    or look at it from a different computer it is way off. Anybody know
    how to fix this?

    I think you need to create a container div & make the
    image the background with relative positioning. Then inside the
    container, another div for your nav.
    the body should look like this:
    <body>
    <div id="container">
    <div id="nav">
    <a href="about.html">about us</a>
    <a href="portfolio.html">portfolio</a>
    <a href="packages.html">packages</a>
    <a href="contact.html">contact</a>
    </div>
    </div>
    </body>
    The container style should be (put this in the <head>
    section):
    <style type="text/css">
    #container {
    margin: auto; /* To center */
    background: url(test.jpg);
    position: relative; /* to allow position relative to the
    container */
    #nav {
    position: relative;
    top: XXXpx; /* Change XXX & YYY until it's positioned
    correctly */
    left: YYYpx;
    #nav a {
    padding: WWWpx ZZZpx; /* WWW for top & bottom padding,
    ZZZ for distance between the link text
    color: #<pick-a-color>; /* the color of the text */
    text-decoration: none; /* if you don't want the links
    underlined */
    #nav a:hover {
    text-decoration: underline; /* underline the link when they
    mouseover - you can add a diff color like above if you want */
    </style>
    Tweak these variables until the position comes out correctly.
    You may need to set the width and height in the container,
    but it should size to the image.
    This way, the placement is relative to a fixed object and
    won't be affected by resolution.
    Sorry if I seem to be in a rush, but I need to leave work
    shortly and have thrown this together quickly. This is one way to
    do this. There are several options. Probably best to stay away from
    AP Divs. It's easy to get into AP div hell! I'll try to check in
    later tonight.
    Best of luck!

    You will likely have to delete the Firefox program folder to recover from this XPCOM issue.
    You can uninstall your current Firefox version to avoid issues with the registry.
    Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
    *Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
    If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
    *Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

    Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

  • Cannot change from System Default Printer

    Using Windows XP (still, I know) and Adobe Reader XI, I am unable to switch from the default printer to another printer in Adobe Reader. I am able to do this in all other applications except Reader.
    I can change the default printer in Windows, open Reader and print to another printer, but the print dialog box doesn't allow me to change the default printer.
    I can select another printer from the drop down box. Then, I'm unable to open the printer settings dialog. If I click print, it sends the job to the default printer instead of the one I've chosen.
    The issue persists for multiple users on this pc even after creating new user profiles in Windows. I have about 10 printers installed on this machine and this happens with all of them. Different makes and models (Brother & Konica Minolta mostly) and also the default Microsoft XPS printer all do the same thing.
    TD;LR: I can only print to the Windows default printer.

    function printFullPEng() {
    var pp = this.getPrintParams();
    var pSize = this.getPageBox("Crop");
    if (pSize[1] > "792") {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\HP Designjet 4000 HPGL2/RTL (Copy 1)";}
    else {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\TOSHIBA 4520C PCL6 - Engineering";};
    pp.NumCopies = 1;
    pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none;
    fv = pp.constants.flagValues;
    pp.flags = (fv.setPageSize);
    this.print(pp);
    This is tied to a menu button. As I say, it works flawlessly in Acrobat 9, but will not change printers in Acrobat X.

  • CR XI R2 Sp6 - How do you change the default printer used by the Viewer?

    CR XI R2 Sp6
    .NET
    VS2005, C++
    The app selects printer for the job as m_Report->PrintOptions->PrinterName = ss_Device;
    This works nicely for printouts to the printer, but is ignored by the viewer. There, the machine default printer is always selected when I hit the print button.
    Found this which is sortof similar:
    http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1275149
    Is there any way to fix this? If no, then is it fixed in more recent versions of CR?

    All of that above can be changed at runtime, but you'd somehow need to figure out what the default printer driver is on each machine and then assign it to the report.
    Yes,but that is exactly what I do. The app normally uses the Windows default printer just as any C++/MFC app will do. On the file menu there is an option to select printer which calls CWinApp::OnFilePrintSetup(); which sets the application default printer setup.
    In the app there is a function to retrieve the default printer:
    CString CLpApp::GetDefaultPrinter()
         PRINTDLG     pd ;
         CString          printer("Failed") ;
         pd.lStructSize = (DWORD)sizeof(PRINTDLG) ;
         BOOL bRet = GetPrinterDeviceDefaults(&pd) ;
         if (bRet)
              // protect memory handle with ::GlobalLock and ::GlobalUnlock
              DEVMODE *pDevMode = (DEVMODE*)::GlobalLock(m_hDevMode) ;
              printer = pDevMode->dmDeviceName ;
              ::GlobalUnlock(m_hDevMode) ;
         return printer ;
    When I print, I do:
    void CSkrivDlg::StartReport(CLpReportJob^ jobb)
         jobb->SelectPrinter("",theApp.GetDefaultPrinter(),"");
         if(m_tillSkrivare)
              jobb->OutputToPrinter(1);
         else
              jobb->OutputToWindow("Fönsternamn", 0, 0, 200, 200, 0, NULL, NULL);
    This works correctly for OutputToPrinter(1);, but not for OutputToWindow() which are simply wrappers for the CR functions:
    bool CReportJob::OutputToPrinter(int nCopies)
         bool rc = true;
         try
              m_Report->PrintToPrinter(nCopies,true,0,0);
         catch (Exception ^e)
              TRACE("
    %s",e->Message);
              m_LastError = e->Message;
              rc = false;
         return rc;
    // OutputToWindow()
    // a,b,c,d = Fönsterkoordinater eller noll för default
    // style = flaggor för fönsterposition
    // window = fönster efter vilket vi dyker upp
    // child = rapportfönstrets handle om vi vill ha den
    bool CReportJob::OutputToWindow(CString Namn, int a, int b, int c, int d, int style, CWnd* window, CWnd **child)
         bool rc = 0;
         CString title="Dummy1";
         title = m_Report->SummaryInfo->ReportTitle;
         CFloaterDlg *Floater = new CFloaterDlg(NULL);               // TODO: Get window
         Floater->Create(IDD_FLOATER_DLG, NULL);
         if(Floater != NULL)
              m_Report->ExportOptions->ExportFormatType = CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportFormatType::PortableDocFormat;
              Floater->m_Viewer->ReportSource = m_Report;
              Floater->m_Viewer->Zoom(theApp.m_ScreenZoom);
              // Sätt fönsterrubrik från rapporten
              Floater->SetWindowText(title);
              // Puffa på så att den kan ändra storlek på Crystal-kontrollen
              Floater->Size();
              // Visa fönstret om det är stängt
              if(!Floater->IsWindowVisible())
                   Floater->ShowWindow(SW_SHOW);
              rc = true;
              if (child!=NULL) *child=Floater;
         else
              AfxMessageBox("Kunde inte skapa fönster för utskrift",MB_OK);
              rc = false;
         return rc;
    Floater is simply a dialog that holds the Viewer control.
    For some reason does the Viewer not obey the printer selection done in the report
