Acrobat 8 installation OK, activation isn't OK

I installed Acrobat 8 Professional on a second computer. It said it was successful, but i never saw an activation screen, and when I open the application, I see the startup screen, with several buttons to click, and the blank work screen behind it.
No matter what I do, the application freezes, and the menu bar says that the application is not responding.  I tried the Adobe chatline, but they said i had to use the forum for help.  I'm not really sure what the problem is.
Maybe it just isn't suitable to Vista?  I don't even know if it 's an activation issue, but since it isnt' activated, it seems like a logical place to start.
During the installation, it could not find the adobepdf.dll file, so I had to manually point to it, which makes me wonder if it's an installation issue, rather than an activation issue.

Hi MABartley,
Acrobat 8 is compatible with Vista ( Please see : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-acrobat-family-produ cts.html#main_System_requirements_for_Acrobat_8_Pro)

  • Acrobat 8 Installation, and Activation from CS2 download page

After finding out that my disc for Acrobat 8 Pro is no longer usable I downloaded (several times) from the Adobe page for legacy applications activation.  I have consistantly received an error message after start up of "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot continue.  Please reinstall the application and try again."  I have use this application for years on this equipment, and Windows 7 O/S without any problems, but I lost a HDD with drive C: on it and had to rebuild.
I purchased Acrobat XI as an upgrade thinking this would help resolve the problem, but it will not recognize my old s/n, nor the s/n from the Activation program Adobe has going on.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?

first, remove acrobat 8 completely:  http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/manually-remove-acrobat-8-windows.html (follow the directions for removing acrobat 8 pro.)
then reinstall acrobat 8 pro using your serial number for acrobat 8 pro.

  • Acrobat XI Pro Installed, Activated, Cannot Register

Acrobat XI Pro (Mac) was purchased, installed (a valid license key was entered at time of installation), and activated. I did not register it at the time of installation because I did not then have the Adobe ID available. I have subsequently attempted to register the installation with Adobe using the proper Adobe ID.
The first attempt was using the online registration page (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/gpr/index.cfm) but that link yields either a blank page (in Firefox, Safari) or a 404 error (in Internet Explorer) on every computer (Mac and PC) and browser on which I have attempted to use it. The link to that page came from Adobe - Product Registration Options.
Next I attempted to register from within the installed product. When I clicked on Help / Register, I received a message that my TRIAL would expire in 30 days! This would seem to me to indicate that the software was not activated even though I received an activation confirmation at the time I installed. When I used the option to enter the serial number, the window just closed without any other response and when I clicked Help / Register again, I got the same "trial will expire in 30 days" message.
This installation is for a public library, which obtained a download link and license key from Tech Soup, which is a highly reputable, legitimate organization providing limited quantities of reduced-cost software to qualified non-profit organizations. It is for a perpetual standalone license, and it was not installed using Creative Cloud.
I contacted Adobe Help via chat but they were not helpful.
Acrobat XI Pro also was installed and activated on three Windows 7 PCs at the same time. Other than the failed attempts to register online using the link above, I have not yet attempted to register them from within the software.

Yes, I installed 3 different valid license keys on 3 PCs and one valid license key on one Mac. Same problems originally described exist on all, except that I have subsequently been able to register all with Adobe. But I still have the bogus messages about my trial expiring in 30 days even though I installed with valid license keys and activation was confirmed at the time of installation.

  • Problem with installation and activation

Hi, I have a problem with the installation of Adobe Muse.
I had a free 30-days trial, when it was over I bought the product ($ 13 per month),
I installed the program again and I see the same window with the finished Trials
and it requires a serial number and does not allow to enter the program.
I installed the program on your PC wife without any problems, but I can not install it on a laptop.
I have a laptop with Windows 8 operating system.
    What I've done:
    1. Uninstalled the free program,
    2. check the connection to the Internet,
    3. has installed a new program from the official website adobe.com,
    4. Remove the line for the activation of the hosts file and resave the file,
    5. turned off the brandmower,
    6. rebooted.
I can't get support for a 3 days, is it the most terrible support I've ever seen? I dunno
Please help me at [email protected]

I guess this stuff helps me

  • Adobe Acrobat X Installation Error

We have many Windows machines with Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard installed and running without issue, and they can update just fine. When we try to install the newly purchased Acrobat X Standard on these machines, the installation fails at the very end after creating the PDF printers. We have tried letting the Acrobat X installer remove Acrobat 9, and we have also uninstalled Acrobat 9 manually before attempting the Acrobat X install. We are installing with local admin rights.
The error still occurs, and Acrobat X installation fails with :
Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {C6357C55-7461-3D51-9AE5-FD71CA24027A}.
    HRESULT : 00x8007051A.
Then we hit OK, the entire installation rolls back and fails. However, we are able to reinstall the Acrobat 9 Standard without issue.
Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

  • Can you help complete the Adobe Acrobat update installation?

The Adobe Acrobat Update Installation has been going on for hours. Can you please complete the installation?

My image is a screenshot saved to my desktop.
When the install fails, this is the message I get:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation.
Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again.
    Error: 1301"
When this happened once before your tech had me work with the root user on my computer.
Today I went to the Error 1301 site and followed the directions: (System Preferences, Account Login, Login Options, and Join for Network Account Server; when the Directory Utility opened, I unlocked the Directory Utility  window, chose Enable Root User from the Edit menu, but couldn't accomplish the next step in the directions: "Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields".

  • Adobe Acrobat X installation customization

    Hi,
I'm trying to customiza our Adobe Acrobat X installation with Adobe Customization Wizard (ACW). Doing this i'm changing the shortcuts, EULA and the language to Danish. But when i'm installing it, it installs it with Swedish language instead of Danish. All the other things works fine.
    How can I solve this??
    Thanks in advance!

Apperently Adobe has made a little mistake in their MSI that sets the next language to Norwegian (swedish and norwegian are similar). When I changed this in the ACW, Acrobat installed and started up with a danish interface.

    Thank you for the replies.
Jeff, I will check that link and try what is suggests.
    Bill, to answer your questions...
    1. This is a CC installation.
    2. Yes, I am logged in as the admin and I have no anti-virus other than Microsoft Essentials enabled.
    3. This is a download installation.
To give even more info that might help, I am using a Windows 7 machine with more than enough capability to run CC.  I had installed Photoshop, Illustrator, among other apps successfully.  I then tried the Acrobat XI installation.  Acrobat XI downloaded and extracted, but when it started installing it froze around 50% and then I received the installation failed error from Windows.  Once that was confirmed the CC install progress finishes but shows failure.  The More Info reveals the error I pasted in above.  Afterward, none of the CC apps worked properly and had to be uninstalled.  So, next I installed the CC downloader and tried to start installing Acrobat XI first but the same error occurred.  That's when I got frustrated and posted my original message.  My limited knowledge leads me to think the error issue lies in the AcroPro.msi file but I have no idea what that is or how to find, correct, or install it.
Thanks again for any help you can provide.  I'm really frustrated that I'm paying for something that I can't use.

  • Comment effacer l'utilitaire "Adobe acrobat Reader installer" ?

    Bonjour,

    Adobe Reader : http://get.adobe.com/fr/reader/
    Cordialement,
    Ppg198

  • Acrobat XI installation removes Acrobat X - continued!

I am an instructor and instruct both acrobat x and acrobat xi. on my pc i first installed acrobat x and then acrobat xi. when install xi it removes x, how do i prevent this?
I got answer from Rave to ignore that Acrobat X is installed in Set-up dialog box, and he closed the discussion (at least I can not reply)
When I install XI via creative cloud no setup dialog appears, it just download, unpack and install in one go. So my problem is not solved!
    Regards Britta

No, they said it is not possible to run both versions at the same time. So
I uninstall XI and install X when I need it and afterwards I install XI
    again
