Acrobat 8, pdf file cannot be OCR

I have a pdf file 11x17, that is an image but when I try to run OCR and highlight, I keep getting the same message. I dont have this problem with 8 1/2 x 14. How to remedy?

Hello krishinc,
Thanks for your posting.
What you're able to able to embed into your website, is the
PDF preview that Acrobat.com is able to make. Not every PDF is able
to have a preview created for it.
In the event that we are unable to create a preview that
particular PDF file, the option to download it will be presented,
so that the end user can view it with their PDF viewer.
If you are the creator of this PDF, then perhaps simplifying
the contents of the PDF will allow us to create a visible preview
of the file.
Hope this helps!
Good luck,
Pete

I am able to use Acrobat using a wireless router.
    Try the following:
Get the latest update from Manufacturer. Then go to printer setup utility and remove the current version. ( Do this anyway even if the same version).
Next plug Printer into a direct USB Connection. Now install Driver. Go back to Printer Setup Utility. and add Printer.
Now print a document, to verify printer works.
Now quit application, then shut down Computer.
Now switch usb printer connector from USB connector on computer to USB connector on your router.
    Restart Computer.
Now open an application that uses a printer and open a document. go to Printer and Look for the Following:
Disregard the printer I have listed here that's my printer. If you see a Printer like this add to list by choosing the printer.
Now go to Printer Setup verify it has been added. Make it the Default printer.
Now Acrobat "should" be able to print from you printer.
(Please note information is given by an Experienced User of Acrobat. I am not an employee of Adobe.)

  • How to export to acrobat 9 pdf file to acrobat 5 pdf file ?

    Hello,
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended
while exporting acrobat 9 pdf file to PDF/X( to open it on earlier version)
    it is giving following message
"The document has been saved, however , it could not be converted according to the selected standard profile: Convert to PDF/X.
Please use Preflight with the profile 'Convert to PDF/X' in order to identify those properties of the document which prevent it
from being compliant to this profile."
when opening this converted document to Acrobat 5.0
    it is giving following error
"There was an error while opening this document the file is damaged and could not be repaired.".
    Please help me.
    Thanks

You mention PDF/X. Have you tried to convert it to one of the other Acrobat standards? As I recall, AA5 does not have PDF/X as an option (at least it is not in my list for AA5). That is likely the problem that you are being told to fix. It suggests using PreFlight to fix that issue and then possibly save the PDF to version AA5.

  • Some pdf files cannot be read by eReaders other than Acrobat

I have several books in pdf format.  All, including the attached, read perfectly in Acrobat and all, except the attached, read perfectly in various eReaders.  The attached file, however, cannot be read by any reader other than Acrobat and cannot be imported into Calibre and converted to any other format.
What is unique about this file?
I can not find any way to attach the file.  Please post instructions.
    Using Windows 8, Adobe Reader X 10.1.8,

You cannot attach PDF files to the forum, only images (e.g. screen shots) and not at all in an email reply.
To share a PDF put it on acrobat.com, your own web site, or a file sharing site, and reply with the URL.
What does Adobe Reader X say for Document Security (under File > Properties)? The SECURITY METHOD is the key information. You are quite correct that some PDF files use security methods which lock them to Acrobat.

  • Cannot Open Acrobat XI PDF files

I installed Acrobat XI on a Windows 7 Pro computer.
I can create PDF files on that computer as well as view/edit the files. When I send the files to another computer, I receive an error message 'file is damaged and cannot be opened'
This has occurred on about ten different test files.
I have sent test files to four other computers using different OS's and all have the same error message.
Any thoughts as to the issue?

I used MS Remote Desktop to log into the server which created the pdf document.
I copied and pasted the PDF file to my local computer. From there, I emailed the document out to other computers.
So, my local computer and four other computers get a 'damaged file' message
I have one person report to me that he could open and view the PDF file when using Cloud-based MS Outlook.
But, he cannot view the file on a local computer.
We have tried various readers including: Adobe XI reader, Firefox and a few others.

    Hello GS/krishinc,
What you're seeing is expected behavior, depending on what is
    inside the .pdf.
PDF's have many different functionalities, and capabilities,
and not all of them are available through the simple preview that
    acrobat.com's preview supplies.
If your PDF has some features, or pages that the Acrobat.com
simple preview doesn't support, then it will suggest you download
    the file.
Options are to leave it as it is and have it as a
downloadable pdf, or to remove some of the advanced pdf features
within the PDF document before sharing it.
Hope this helps out, if not please give more information
about the PDF file you're sharing, and perhaps private messaging me
    the link to the share.
    Thanks!
    Pete

  • Can I save acrobat cloud PDF files back to windows phone 8.1?

I've backed up my (sandboxed) PDF files from Acrobat Reader on my Windows Phone 8.1 to Acrobat.com (Cloud).
How Can I restore (save) them back to the phone?
I understand I can view them in/from the cloud but how to get them back on the phone locally?
-It sure would be nice to be able to copy them to the Office Hub as well.
Seems Acrobat Reader (Windows Phone 8.1 app) allows download from OneDrive but not upload/ back-up to OneDrive, why?
Why is the no option / context menu item allowing "save to phone" when tap/hold on cloud stored file, or while viewing the file itself.
I see no option to download to phone.
Seems the only work-around I can think of is to NOT use the Windows Phone Acrobat Reader App; but instead log into Acrobat.com (using the phones browser)
and download the file(s) that way.

    Hi gtesuji,
You may log on The Most Reliable Tool to Convert PDF to Word or Excel | Adobe ExportPDF and login with your Adobe id and password. Go to file section.
Then you can download files back to phone memory.

  • Acrobat 9 PDF files lost when importing a PST file in Office Mac 2011

When one imports an MS Outlook data file created in either Outllok 2007 or 2010 (a PST file) into Outlook for Mac 2011, PDF's made in Acrobat 7  or earlier are imported as are those made on a Mac.
However, any PDF file attachment made in Acrobat 9 is removed (not imported) into Outlook 2011 for Mac.
If anyone has any great thoughst on this, they would be welcomed as I have given up after 20 hours of work and research. In the absence of any 'fix', l may have to set up a temporary  MS Exchange account and export to a server and back again.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. It might be the difference between the Home and Student versions and the Home and Business versions. You need to ask the educational institution you're getting it through what the difference between the two options they are offering is.
I've used Office for Mac for a long time. There are some differences in the applications themselves, they're minor and it should serve you just fine.

  • PDF file cannot be repaird

I cannot open downloaded PDF files even from trusted sources.  The message says:   "There was an error opening this document.  The file is damaged and could not be repaired.      This is a fairly recent development.

Okay, I've seen this. It's Safari too, I know, based on the symptoms. There's good news and bad news.
Start with the bad news: As the error message says, the PDF(s) is/are damaged and it CANNOT be repaired. It/they was/were corrupted during the download.
Now the good news: While the file(s) can't be fixed, this CAN be prevented going forward.
Download the offline installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ - DO NOT RUN IT YET - Save it only
    Quit Safari
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin file
    Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin file
    Empty the trash
    Reboot
Mount the downloaded DMG and reinstall Reader
Relaunch Safari and redownload the PDF(s) in question.
They should open with no errors now.

  • Pdf file cannot open

    Hi.
Every time I try to open the pdf file my Adobe Reader cant open it. I tried to open another pdf files and it was easy and effective.
How can I open my .pdf file?
    thanks in advance!

    Following steps can handle it
Remove the PDF file that was corrupted by sending it to the recycle bin then empty the recycle bin. Download the PDF file again from the original source. While the Acrobat is downloading the file, limit your computer usage, this will only take a few minutes so just walk away from the computer momentarily. Open the new PDF file once the download has completed.
Remove your Adobe Acrobat Reader program. Click "Start" and select "Control panel." When the control panel opens find "Adobe Acrobat Reader" click on the program then select "Uninstall." Allow the program to complete the entire uninstall process.
Reboot your computer by clicking the "Start" then select "Restart." When the computer is finished rebooting reinstall the "Adobe Acrobat Reader" from Adobe official site. Download the latest version of the "Acrobat" for your computer's operating system. This will take a few minutes to complete the reinstall.
Download the PDF file again by visiting the website that you obtained the corrupted PDF file from. The file should be able to open correctly, but if you are still getting a corrupted file, proceed to the next step.
