Acrobat 8 plug-ins in Microsoft Word?

The options "Print to PDF" or "Save as PDF" work well in Microsoft Word but since my text in Word contains links to the internet, those links turned-up to be inactive in the resulting PDF document.
So I need to have the PDF plug-ins "Convert to PDF" or "PDFmaker" installed in the toolbar of Word. According to the manual of Acrobat 8, those plug-ins must be installed as the same time as Acrobat is installed.
During the installation of Acrobat 8, I activated those plug-ins but they never appeared in the toolbar of Word. What should I do to have those plug-ins active in Word?
Thanks in advance.

Actually when Office2004 out they were available. Office2004 had VBA and could use most all Macros except those that used Active-X.
when 2008 came on the markey those item were rendered useless.  Because 2008 did't have VBA  engine, and onlt certain Excel Macros would work.
2001 has VBA anD macros but uses the same VBA engine of it PC conter part. Still doesn't use Active-X. (Apple has an absolute Ban on Active-X, the only way it will appear is if MS buys out Apple which between slim and none and slim has left town).
Now once you have Acrobat installed you have access through Print menu Adobe PDF choice.
AS some here once again are spouting Office doesn't provide the hooks to provide creating links.  It’s a Fallacy  spread by adobe for years. You can take a File created in Mac and bring over to PC and Create PDF through in Acrobat PC and works just fine. The problem is with adobe and Acrobat.
Also for Adobe's edification: 2011 was a direct Port from Office 2010 PC code the only thing left out was what simply doesn't apply to Macintosh. Its so close to 2010 That theyven ported over a piece of code from PC's That bans the use of the characters <>?|\/ *, Sub Scripts and Numbers at the beginning of names  for Hard Drives, DVD's, Directories, Folder Names, and File Names. and not use the File, FileServer, or Server in File Server Directories,  and Directory Path names.
So go back to drawing board and come up with another excuse for Links not working. You need to get together with MS and get this problem straightened out. 15 years is long enough to avoid fixing a problem.

  • Acrobat plug-ins PPKLite.api, HTML2PDF.api fail to initialize & file reducing plug-in not available

Trying to figure out why in last 2 wks I've been getting error messages when I open a PDF doc with Acrobat 7.0.9 professional. Initially 2 pop-ups saying error loading plug-ins PPKLite.api and HTML2PDF.api & they "failed to initialize. I can click OK & clear those error messages & proceed with what I'm doing, so they have just been an annoyance. Today I tried to reduce the size of a file, & got an error saying some of he required plug-ins are "not available. Some functions features may be disabled" - and it didn't reduce the file size. I need to be able to reduce PDF files on a regular basis. What can I do to fix both these annoyances & my file reducing plug-in problem?

Had the same problem with Acrobat 6.0 Pro.
Start with a test, Hold down the Shift key while starting Acrobat (from the time you double-click the icon, until it is initalized and ready to go).
This starts Acrobat without ANY plug-ins.
If this works without errors, go to this link and install all the updates, starting with the lowest. Select repair, if prompted, in the event the patch is already installed, or just cancel and continue working your way from lowest to highest revision, until your version is current.

For 6.0.0 I used (in order):
    Ac60PrP1.exe
    Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update.exe
    Acro-Reader_6.0.3_Update.exe
    Acro-Reader_6.0.4_Update.exe
    Acro-Reader_6.0.5_Update.exe
    Acro-Reader_6.0.6_Update.exe

  • Missing Acrobat 9 toolbar in Microsoft Word 2000

Was the Acrobat toolbar that appeared in Microsoft Word using Acrobat 8 removed from Acrobat 9? If not, how can I get it to show up? Thank you.

Yes, Acrobat 9 does not support Office 2000.

  • Developing Acrobat plug-ins for different languages

I presently have an Acrobat plug-in created specifically for the English version of Acrobat 6 and higher. Can someone tell me in general what has to be done in order to accommodate a different language, i.e., Spanish, German, for those using Acrobat? Would the entire script that creates the .api file necessarily have to be written in the specific language or only parts thereof that produce the desired effect in using it? Thank you ahead of time.

That's Great! So basically, if I wanted to market a Spanish version for a plug-in that added a calendar to a PDF form, then all I would need to do is change the script to display the text for each calendar month in Spanish as opposed to English. Does that make sense?

  • I can't load Adobe Acrobat plug ins to view PDFs online

When online, it doesn't matter which web browser i'm using, I cannot view Adobe Acrobat files.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.  Is there an easy fix or should I just be sending my MacBook Pro in for a "good ol' talking to" by the genius's at Apple?

to view pdf files you need to download and install adobe reader from the adobe website.
also you can view pdf documents on the mac by using the preview application as well, the following article tells how to use this app:

  • Acrobat 9 changes to plug-ins

As I have got response from Adobe forum that AcroPDF.dll was revamped with Acrobat 9 to work in a different method (multiple instances vs. a single global one).
Can anybody explain when user opens a PDF file within IE (Internet explorer) how AcroPDF.dll behaves?
    Thanks,
    Twinkle

I am interested to understand how plug-ins get loaded in context of Internet explorer. I mean if you open two seperate instances of IE and open PDF files within these two IE instance the single AcrobatPDF.dll handling the plug-in references or different?
This is because I am facing one behavior, we have developed one toolbar using Acrobat SDK where we are using PIHandshake and IAC to call acrobat API's to perform the action. Our custom ActiveX control load within IE to load PDF and because acrobat.exe loaded the Plugin also loaded automatically (because it resides under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat\plug-ins\..) and user can work with that plug-in. But the strange behavior is if user open another PDF in other instance of IE at the same time (while keep running our web application) and come back to our web applicatio and load another PDF document the plug-in is not loading again, i.e never , unless and untill user logoff and login which in turn load Acrobat.exe again.

  • Plug-ins and horrible FF 32: For example, tells me that Adobe Acrobat 10.0.0.396 is insecure

I really, really, really hate FF 32 because it doesn't work right. That took me days to figure out. I couldn't figure out my problems at first--ran virus tools, etc., but it's FF. I tried for 2 hours (that I don't have) to figure out how to go back to FF31 but that seems to be impossible for a normal user. FF 32 won't go to many web pages, locks up, etc., BUT in addition, it doesn't like add-ons that are current and will not let me enable them: Acrobat as above (I have Acrobat Pro 10, not Reader, which conflicts with Acrobat Pro by the way so have Pro), Java Development Toolkit 6.0.250.6 "seems to be vulnerable" and of course Java platform. Please tell me how to get rid of the ridiculous security restrictions, which are causing me H_LL. Here's the thing. I don't want to use IE or Chrome, but Yahoo Mail will no longer work correctly with Windows 7. If you don't help me, I have to become a Chrome user. It's as simple as that. It's not allowing me to change the activation on the plug-ins or even activate the ones that are there automatically, which I really would not do in general. I'm not a new user, but this is TOO MUCH. HORRIBLE. Thanks. - Kay

Well I've never heard of the "Java Development Toolkit" plugin, but in case you meant the "Java '''Deployment''' Toolkit" -- you can delete this plugin without losing general Java content functionality in the browser. If you ''don't even need'' Java running in the browser, Oracle has a good guide on turning it "off" and all of these Java plugins will go away. That guide is located here: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/disable_browser.xml
I've learned that the Java Deployment Toolkit (also known as "Java DT") plugin is in fact considered "vulnerable" by Mozilla (and has been for a long time) but since that plugin is only designed for a specialized group of people, the default action of it being "blocked" isn't hindering the functioning of normal pc users (even in regards to the normal usage of Java.) Instead, they tend to get confused about the entire situation.
If you're interested in reading more about Java DT, there's a recent thread on mozillazine that talks about some of the security drama and confusion in regards to this plugin specifically. It also talks about the way to remove it too if you still need Java functionality in the browser. That thread is located here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2877359 I'd also recommend just turning it all off via that guide from Oracle -- I have desktop applications that require Java but up until recently the only time I really needed Java running in the browser was for Pogo games...and I've since learned that due to the security hysteria and mass confusion in the past year, they're now transitioning to flash-based gaming instead of Java. (And whether or not Flash offers more robust security over Java would require a whole new thread. Hint: it doesn't really.)
Also, a side-note on [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/user/philipp philipp's] answer -- I believe he is mistaking the standard Java plugin (the one needed for Java functionality in the browser) for Java DT. He mentions 1.6.0_25 which is an '''extremely old''' version of Java...version 6 in fact. To everyone reading this: these '''really old''' versions of software are full of security holes so it's best to update to the latest version, preferably Java 8 -- assuming you're still not on Windows XP. Everyone (again): if you're one of the 23% of people out there still on Windows XP, you seriously need to go out shopping as Microsoft security support for that OS ended earlier this year. The newest version of Java 8 is actually relatively good, even over version 7. You also can't get too comfortable with one version of Firefox either -- it's on a "rapid release" schedule so be prepared to deal with new GUI elements and other annoyances monthly. Being "annoyed" with Firefox just "comes with the territory" of using this browser -- at least at one point or another. You have to be prepared for constant change with Firefox because otherwise you'll miss out on the necessary security updates. Don't pretend you can live on [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ ESR versions] forever too -- these are not meant for the "individual user." In fact, [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/33.0/releasenotes/ Firefox 33] just came out yesterday so you may want to try it.

  • Is Acrobat Standard 10 incompatible with Windows Microsoft Word 2003, v 11.8?

An Acrobat Add-In has to be disabled for me to open a Word file.  If the Add-In is disabled I cannot create a .pdf.  The error dialog box attributes the problem to a runtime error due to program c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\winword exe.  An associated dialog box says that Runtime is shutting down Adobe Acrobat 10 early because the security is too high.  But putting Word Macro Security setting on medium and then on low doesn't help.  Nor does telling a Microsoft security box that Adobe.com is a trusted site.  I have spent critical hours trying to fix this, without result.  I would appreciate whatever help I can get.  I didn't have any trouble creating .pdf files with Acrobat 9.  Tks. DWI.

Word 2003 is compatible with the PDF Maker macro for Acrobat X Std. What OS are you running? Have you tried to load the PDF Maker macro manually?
    Exit all programs.
Select Tools > Customize, and click the Commands tab.
Click Tools in the Categories panel.
Drag COM Add-ins from the Commands panel to the Tools menu while holding down the mouse button. When the Tools menu displays the menu commands, drag COM Add-ins just below the Customize option, and then release the mouse button.
    Click Close.
Click COM Add-ins on the Tools menu.
Click Add, locate the add-in (the PDFMaker Add-in is at [Acrobat Installation Path]\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddIn.dll), and click OK.
Press Alt+F11 to start the Visual Basic Editor.
Press Ctrl+G to start the Immediate Window of Visual Basic Editor.
To start PDFMaker in Word, type Application.COMAddIns("PDFMaker.OfficeAddin").Connect = True. Close the Visual Basic Editor.
Verify that the Adobe PDF menu now appears to the right of Help on the Microsoft Word menu bar.
Also, renaming the global template file, Normal.dot, sometimes helps resolve the issue. There are instructions at the bottom of this article from Microsoft that explain how to do this.

  • I want to open an excel file from a folder in the Microsoft live office on Hotmail. Their instruction is to go to tools in Firefox, go to plug-ins and then install Microsofts Office 2010. Can't find plug-h. Help?

I have uploaded an excel file from my desk top to the Windows Live (HOTMAIL?) office suite. When I try to open the file I get an error that says my system is not supported. My system passes all of the listed criteria except for one. That is a plug in from Firefox. The instructions say to go to the Firefox menu, click on tools then plug-ins. Of course when I go to tools plug-ins is not immediately available, but when I do go to plug-ins, I am to click on Microsoft Office 2010. This plug in is supposed to allow earlier versions of office documents to be viewed as well as Office 2010. The plug-in is not available. When I search the Firefox website I am not able to find such a plug-in.
I am using Microsoft XP, Office 2007 and the version of Firefox prior to V4. V4 does not support all of my e-mail clients so am not able to use V4.

I am using Microsoft XP, Office 2007 and the version of Firefox V4 but I have this same problem.

Why Acrobat x professional is changing the text formatting specifically the font family  and the font size of the text in my pdf on exporting it to Microsoft word file format ?How should i stop Acrobat x professional from doing that so that i get an exactly same word file on exporting it from its pdf counterpart?

I was testing the preciseness & efficiency of Adobe acrobat x professional's doc conversion capabilities. As i have to take a document editing project in future which is going to need lot of pdf to word and vice versa conversions . What I did was I created a test word document converted into a pdf using a pdf maker in my word 2007 , Acrobat did convert the document from word to pdf keeping everything in the source file intact , However when i tried the other way round and attempted to convert the same pdf to word 2007 file format I lost my formatting ?So the font that I used to create the pdf are the ones taken from word 2007 which i believe is using the fonts that are installed in my computer. Any suggestions on how to preserve the formatting of the document after converting it from pdf to word file format?

  • Acrobat 10 and plug-ins for Acrobat 9 incompatibility?

    Hi,
Today I've installed trial version of Acrobat 10 to check if my plug-in for Acrobat 9 could run for it as well. But after Acrobat 10 launch I've got a window:
Acrobat.exe - Unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because MSVCP80.dll was not found.
Quick check over plug-ins shipped now inside Acrobat 10 showed me that they are using now MSVCP90.DLLL library instread of MSVCP80.dll used for Acrobat 9.
Does it mean that we need to recompile our source code with higher version of MS Visual Studio? If so - what version should we use?
Does it also mean that our plug-ins prepared for Acrobat 9 are incompatible with Acrobat 10 or there is some way they could still run without recompilation?
Any comments on this would be highly appreciated.

I always prefer to use shared libraries, i.e. DLLs, in their supposed shared way and not statically embedded into my executable if I know that some environment is pretty stable and customer is aware of various possible DLLs dependencies. If Acrobat could do some job for me - then I'm happy with that without allocation of additional memory/resources needed in case of static linking.
So, you don't answer my question. What C++ compiler's version should be used to put MSVCP90.DLL reference now instead of previously used MSVCP80.DLL?
