Acrobat 8 printing old version of a file???

We have an Adobe Acrobat document that was recently changed with a new logo and some extra text on the form.  When a user opens the form with Acrobat 8, the form looks fine, but when you click the Print Button, An OLD version of the file actually opens in the Print Preview Windows and actually prints to the printer the old way.  Old way shows old logo and no added text etc.  If we open the same file in Reader 9, it seems to work fine though. Obviously we can just use Reader 9 to get around the issue, but we would rather just have this work correctly in Acrobat.
Anyone have any idea why this would be happening?  I have heard that it happened in this office before, but I don't know what they did to fix it and can't seem to duplicate it on another machine.
Thanks in advance

I understand what you mean, but I wasn't calling Adobe asking for technical support.  I was asking if any other users in the support forum have run in to this issue before and had a fix.  I have inherited multiple versions of Acrobat at this company with single licensing so I have to work with what I am given. Once I get apporval on volume licensing then hopefully this will be a non issue.  Until then, I have to help my users with what they have, which is Acrobat 8; and still have to ask if anyone has seen this issue before?

  • HT1923 Can not uninstall old version because the file it is looking for is not found on windows 8.1

First off I want to start that I am an IT professional, so not a dumb PC user.
I am running Windows 8.1.  I have been running Itunes for a long time and when the auto-updater prompted me for an update, I used that to update.  Aparently something happened during one of the updates and Windows thinks I have v 11.1.1.1 installed as well as the newest version.  I discovered this when I connected my Ipod recently (It was a few months since my last sync) and it wasn't be recognized by Itunes.  Windows discovered it as a device but Itunes wouldn't see it.  I went to the forums/support and tried the trouble shooting steps to no avail.  I finally did the normal "uninstall/reinstall" process and that is when I saw the two entries in the programs list in windows.  I uninstalled the current version.  When I tried to reinstall it would error out with "can not find the path to  iTunes64.msi".  I had a few of them in the path but they were for newer versions, not the 11.1.1.1.  Then I looked around and saw the directory tree for Itunes were still there.
I tried to edit the registry in the local machine->uninstall hive but itunes was not on the list there because I went through every entry.  They all had the names from programs on the list but Itunes wasn't there.  I uninstalled everything else as per the Itunes support instructions (Quicktime/Bonquor/Etc) and still it didn't work.  I deleted the Itunes directory manually and then ran CC cleaner to a few times to clean out all the broken registry entries.  After that was done I still couldn't install Itunes because it detected the program from the list in windows that said it was installed (v 11.1.1.1).  I restored the directory from my recycle bin, launched the exe directly and it worked and I was able to detect/sync my Ipod.  BUT the system doesn't think I have it installed so I have to manually kick it off from the exe itself.
I want to fix this.  I would think it would be to edit something, registry I assume, that populates that installed program list and then the newest installer should run fine.  I am stuck so I am looking for help.  Any suggestions/ideas or anything?
    Thank you in advance.

I can't seem to find a way to delete this...SO I unmarked it as a question.
I solved the problem, I aparently missed the program ID number when I searched.  I found it and then went through the registry and removed the other references to that ID.  Once I did that I was able to install the new Itunes without incident.  In the process it also cleaned up the old entry on my programs/features list.
Even though I checked the registery 2x trying to clean up references to Itunes, the search and my manual look through the Uninstall entries I missed it.  Sorry to waste anyone's time.

  • Numbers file keeps reverting to old version

I use Numbers (Version 3.5.2) on my MacBook Pro running (Yosemite 10.10.2) and also on my iPad air (running iOS 8.1.3) and iPhone 6 (running iOS 8.1.3).  I have a file that I use to keep track of grades that is used across all three devices.  In the last month the file keeps reverting back to an old version of the file.  After this happens I can go into Numbers on Mac and Select "Revert to..." and select the correct version of the file.  I did this yesterday and deliberately reverted to the correct version on the Mac and saved, then opened the iPad, made sure it had the correct version, made a minor change and closed the file.  I then opened on the iPhone made sure it was the correct version, made a minor change and saved.  I then reopened on the Mac it was the correct version and included the minor changes made on the iPad and iPhone.  I saved and then closed the file.  Today when I open the file on my Mac, it is back to a version that is over a month old.  I again used the "Revert to.."  command and was able to get back to the correct version of the file from yesterday.  I can't figure out why it keeps reverting to an old version.  At first I thought it was pulling in an old version from the iPad or iPhone, but after the experiment yesterday that does not seem likely.  Has anyone else had this problem?  It is making me seriously question the use of Numbers with documents in the cloud as I can not be certain that the data in the file is correct.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • The FlashPlayer distribution download page still links to old version 14.0.0.176 MSI files

The download links for Flash Player ver 15.0.0.152 still link to the old version 14 MSI files. Please fix. I'm not sure how else to report this issue.

Looks like the files are there, so some simple changing of the copied URLs did the trick for me (change 14 to 15):

    download.macromedia.com/...install_flash_player_15_active_x.msi

The solution is to replace the old versions of these files with new or somehow to remove references to these jars from classpath.

I've been able to find someone willing to do some testing that I can't do without installing old versions of Reader on my computer.  The surprising (to me) result is that the Submit button causes the problem.  By simply removing the Submit button, Reader 10 is now able to print page 1.  The Submit button was set up to do a "mailto".  I don't know whether other destinations also cause the problem of the page not printing with old versions of Reader.

  • A user uploads a new pdf (using Dreamweaver) but still gets the old version back in browser.

She downloads the file from the site, and gets the old version of the file instead of the one she just uploaded. I tried it myself and everything is done correctly: the new file is on the server but download keeps displaying the old version. Dreamweaver ticks off the bytes as they are going upstream. I can RDP to the server and see that the newer version is there (by datetime stamp). She is using IE 8 if relevant.
This only happens with pdf, no caching is turned on in IIS6 - all content updates are instant.
I have gone in to the temp internet files and deleted the cached version of the file and emptied the trash (Win XP) but it still serves the old version.
This issue has been reported by other users, but I thought it was user error until it was staring me in the face.
My final verification was to upload the new document with a new name, delete the old document, and rename the new name to the old name - after that it delivered the new document
How do I tell the (non-tech) user fix this?
I've seen references to this on other sites (now that I know it is real, I dug deeper) but the solutions proposed mostly seem to involve changing the query string by adding somthing to the end of it.
This is out of reach of my user.
I can't be the first person to encounter this right?
And note that I went into the server... the document was uploaded, and IIS caching is off.
I was told by someone here (and I can't reproduce it in my office) that I should tell the user to go to Adobe Reader | Edit | Preferences | Internet.
Then tell her to uncheck all three boxes (display in browser, allow fast, and allow speculative)
But I don't see how that would fix it - remember that I deleted the pdf from the internet cache and that didn't solve it.
    Thanks,
       -Chris C. 1972

    I've faced this before too.
I've tried many different approaches but the most reliable way I've ever found of handling it is to rename the new PDF each time (e.g. adding the revision date into the filename) and update the link in the web page to point to the renamed PDF.
    Works every time.

  • How to uninstall old versions of CS3, CS4, CS5 of Bridge, Device Central, and Extension Manager

    I have the following files:
    Adobe Bridge CS3
    Adobe Bridge CS4
    Adobe Bridge CS5.1
    Adobe Device Central CS3
    Adobe Device Central CS4
    Adobe Device Central CS5
    Adobe Device Central CS5.5
    Adobe Extension Manager CS4
    Adobe Extension Manager CS5
    Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5
I want to delete the old versions of these files, but Adobe says I need to use the installers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers, but there are no relevant files in that folder. Any ideas on how to do this properly on a Mac.

That is correct Dancingjewel.  Migrating/transferring/copying Adobe applications is not supported and often leads to unexpected behavior.  To resolve this you will want to attempt to completely remove the current installations utilizing the CC Cleaner Tool and then reinstall.  If you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Other downloads.

  • Files sync failed - missing newest version of the file

I have two files on the cloud: my Lightroom catalog and the accompanying previews file, and work between my desktop computer and laptop. I have not opened the LR Catalog file from the desktop since 3/10, but have been using in on my laptop continuously. After installing updates today, it asked me to log in to the Creative Cloud, which I did. When I look at my Creative Cloud folder, my two files had been replaced with the OLD version of the file from the desktop, last modified 3/10. The newest, current version which I have been working over the past month disappeared. None of the work I did on Lightroom, hours and hours, is showing up anymore. PLEASE help me find the newest version of my file!!!!
Also: it does not show up on "Archived" files on my account. The last version archived was on 3/10. If the file I have been using for the past month never synced to the cloud, why was it replaced with an old version of the file?

With the recent update of the Creative Cloud Desktop app (1.9.1.474) we unfortunately introduced a bug which causes the creation of a new Creative Cloud Files folder, and re-sync of all content. This will only occur the first time the sync application runs after the update. This has caused understandable pain and confusion, for which we truly apologise.
The Creative Cloud Files app contains logic that supports the use of multiple Adobe IDs. This allows you to sign out of one ID and in to another, but keeps your Creative Cloud content separate. When you sign out and change IDs, the app moves the previous Creative Cloud Files folder and it's contents and appends it with the previously signed in ID (User@AdobeID). It then creates a new main folder and starts to sync content of the new ID.
The bug which I mentioned previously occurs, as the app believes an ID switch has taken place and as such, moves the current Creative Cloud Files folder and tries to append the previously signed in ID. As no switch has actually taken place it manifests as (Unknown).  The app then creates a new main folder at syncs down the data.
Essentially what you end up with is a Creative Cloud Files folder with your newly sync'd data and a Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder that contains duplicate data.
This occurs once, after the last update completes.
The fix is to simply delete the Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder.
I would advise that you ensure you have no pending edits that you may have made offline and that you check the contents of the new, main Creative Cloud Files folder contains everything you expect it to.  If not, check the contents of the Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder.
If there is still a discrepancy with your data, you can check on creative.adobe.com to confirm your data is there.

  • Ingest new version with old version archived

Does anyone knows a solution for this:
My original asset is archived - a new version is ingested - setting is to overwrite the old version.
Final Cut Server is saving the new version on the local storage, leaving the version in the archive untouched. Proxy and thumbnails are created from the new version.
In this situation many functions are greyed out. Actually the system sort of only allows the user to restore the asset from the archive.
Restoring is overwriting the new version with the old version from the archive leaving the proxy and thumbnails as they are.
So now situation is: old version of original file on the local drive, we lost the new version all together, proxy and thumbnails from new version.
This is all very unwanted - any solutions?
    Thanks, Henk

There are two basic paradigms that you can use to interact with Final Cut Server files.
One is to let the filesystem be the master. With this, the original files are sitting in the filesystem, and anyone with permissions can mess with them. FCSvr can see changes (via scans) and update itself accordingly. File names must be unique for anything stored in the same directory.
The second method is to let FCSvr be the master. In this, you don't mess with the filesystem--all file interactions are done indirectly like through watchers, uploads, and archiving/restoring. File names must be unique, unless you create the device as a contentbase device type.
Each method can make sense at different times. Generally the second is the safer approach, but the first makes sense like for FCP capture scratch folders and production scans.
If you upload an asset directly to the FCSvr client application, it will provide you with a dialog box to prevent you from overwriting an existing file if there's a name conflict and it's not a contentbase device. (Nick, it will prompt you even if the old file is archived.)
If you choose to overwrite, the original asset will be deleted and any archive device instance will be orphaned. If that's what you're doing, I don't understand your issue since you told it to overwrite.
But if you've mixed paradigms by going behind FCSvr's back (via the Finder or Terminal) to copy a new media file into a place that FCSvr knew was reserved by an archived file and would have prevented had you done it through the client app, then you're asking for trouble.
Your solution options are: use unique names for files, store them in subfolders that are scanned, or store them in contentbase devices. For the first two you can use the project name or number to help make the file names/folder names unique.

  • Delete old versions of PS?

I had a lot of trouble getting PS 5.1 working on my computer because of license issues and have been afraid to delete older versions of PS thinking it might hose things again.
I have CS 3, Bridge 3, CS5, and Bridge 5 installed.  Can I delete them?

If you really are not desperate for HD space the best advice is to leave them as is.  They should not affect one another as they are.
Deleting old versions can cause file associaton and other file access problems.

  • How to get back my old version of Adobe Acrobat

How do I get my old Adobe Acrobat back.  It worked great for what little I use it. I was updated to Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.04 and do not need that complex of software for just Creating a PDF file and being able to print a copy when I need it.  Now if I try to print anything out of Word I am told my trial is over and if I want anything printed from word I have to buy the new acrobat.  Why did is get rid of my old version which I got in school?

It should not have gotten rid of the old version.  First try uninstalling the new version and see if the old version comes out of hiding.
If you need to reinstall the older version, you might be able to find it at the site linked below, but you will need to have the serial number for it to activate it to full use.
