Acrobat 8 Pro - Installing over Framemaker 8
Is it possible to install Acrobat 8 Pro (retail, full version) without uninstalling Framemaker 8? Each time I try, the installer stops itself, with a message saying a fuller-featured versiion is already installed. I'm guessing there might be some conflict with the Distiller that is installed with FM8. The software installed fine on another box that didn't have FM 8. For the box I *want* to install it on, I seriously do not want to uninstall FM 8 as it has a number of plug-ins that took a lot of tweaking to get working properly. :-(

I think I've finally fixed the problem. After much googling, I found a reference to the same problem, but with regard to CS3 (or might have been CS4) involving the trial version of Acrobat 9. Apparently the uninstaller for the Acro 9 trial version left behind something in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db that causes this problem. The procedure offered was dire, nothing short of a complete cleanout of all Adobe applications and removal of everything left behind in the Registry as well. I wasn't about to do that! Here's what I did (just one more thing to try, I thought).
renamed the ..\caps subdirectory to caps_icum.
started Framemaker, expecting something to be broken. It wasn't: it ran just as usual.
checked in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe and found that the ..\caps subdir had been recreated and had a new caps.db in it.
rebooted the computer.
proceeded on yet another attempt to install from the CD. Bingo! it all worked.

1. /Library/Preferences/
2. ~/Library/Preferences/
This file might be already present on your machine if you have any other version of Acrobat installed. You need to rename this file or move it to some other location and then try installing Acrobat 11 again. Please let us know if you are able to install after following these steps.

I deleted com.adobe.PDFAdminSettings.plist from /Library/Preferences/ with admin privileges
still the installation fails

I have problem with my Acrobat Pro (in Adobe Design Standard CS6 edition) - Regularly once a month throughout the software crashes and will not turn on. Only helps to re-install. Now I additionally happened that when reinstalling does not load serial number. It made me very disgruntled. Can you please help? Acrobat Pro I still need to work and this is me terribly resides. Thank you but unfortunately the process does not work. It makes the same thing as before. When I install and enters the serial number, it writes: We are unable to verify the product serial number Creative Suite 6 Design Standard. Please contact Customer Support.
When I deactivated Photoshop and re-activated by the process, everything went without a problem. The problem is only with Acrobat Pro. Acrofix - after running only flashes a command prompt window, otherwise nothing happens. I do not know what to do .... -
Acrobat Pro installed on a Windows 2003 32bit server - where's the 64bit driver?

I'm still newbie with Acrobat Pro so please bear with me if this is a silly question.
A prospect of ours installed the TRIAL version of Acrobat Pro Extended on a 32bit Windows 2003 server and everything went fine; this server "serves" a number of Windows 7 64bit boxes which are supposed to share the PDF Printer created on the Win2003 server during the installation.
Problem is that when the printer gets shared and clients try to install it, the 64bit driver could not be found.
The customer tried to install the 64bit driver on the Win2003 box but he does not know where to find the correct .INF file for 64bit windows client.

RobTwo facts for consideration. As I understand it the trail only comes in 64-bit. Don't know for sure since I have never downloaded it, but that is a faint memory.
More importantly, read the EULA carefully before you purchase for the type of application you listed. The general EULA does not allow the use of Acrobat on a server in the manner you have indicated. You have to purchase Acrobat for each machine, not a server. You may have enough that need to use the product that a volume license is in order -- contact Adobe for that. In the meantime, use the Acrobat Trail to test the features and such to be sure it meets your needs (other than the server use). -
New Acrobat Pro installed and EVERY PDF file crashes after about 10 seconds. Any Solutions?
I just purchased and installed Acrobat Pro v. 10.1.2 and it seemed to install fine ,but now EVERY ODF crashes after about 10 seconds. Also, I get the Windows "please wait while Windows Configures Acrobat" message every time I launch Acrobat. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion?

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.
Could you try the following:
Launch Acrobat, but do not open a PDF file.
Choose Edit > Preferences. Click on 'Internet' on the left-hand side.
Uncheck 'Display PDF in Browser'
Relaunch Acrobat - do you still get the 'Please wait while Windows configures Acrobat' message?
If that message has stopped coming up, please try opening a PDF file. Does Acrobat still crash?
Do you have any other versions of Acrobat or Adobe Reader installed on this computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed? What version of Internet Explorer is installed?

If all other applications are running fine, than try the Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any leftover files from this link( http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html ) and than try to Install Acrobat XI Pro on your computer. -
Adobe Design & Web Premium CS6 - Student - no Acrobat Pro installed
I purchased and installed Adobe Design & Web Premium CS6 - Student Version. The box and the Adobe site list Acrobat Pro included. But in reviewing the Creative Cloud, it lists Acrobat Pro as a Trial. I do have Acrobat Standard already installed. Is the Pro version included with this software Suite and if so, how do I install it? Is the Standard version preventing the install?
ThanksDaveKStL which version of Windows are you using? I would recommend removing your installation of Adobe Acrobat Standard using the Programs and Features Control Panel. Once removed you can then can install Adobe Acrobat Professional which is included with your Creative Cloud Membership. Acrobat Pro installed as part of CS3 - asks for Admin password at launch
Installed CS3 whilst logged in as Admin, for a Leopard rollout.
All apps in the Suite work except Acrobat Pro, which asks for an Admin password every time it is launched. I have Googled this and tried all suggestions from the simple 'Fix permissions' to editing the ''AcroENUPro80SelfHeal.xml'' and ''RdrENU90SelfHeal.xml''.
Nothing as yet fixes this issue
As a last resort and with no real believe that it will work, I am re installing CS3 again under Admin rights and running every app in the Suite first before adding to the new image. I am sure that when I installed the first time I ran all updates and launched every app in the suite.

Googling around this seems to be an ongoing issue with Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader.

Clean Windows 8.1 Pro install over Windows 8.1 SL

I have a Lenovo H520g desktop, which came with Windows 8 Single Language installed. The machine is currently updated to Windows 8.1 Single Language.
As I am a software developer, I need to use Windows 8.1 Pro, because the SL version doesn't have Hyper-V, which is necessary to run the Windows Phone SDK emulator.
For the reason explained above, I would like hear the advice of an official Microsoft representative on the matter discussed on this topic.
I do know I can update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Pro by using the "Add features to Windows 8.1" item on the Windows 8.1 Control Panel and buying the Windows 8,.1 Pro Pack. Nevertheless, I prefer buying the full retail version of Windows 8.1
Pro on a DVD from a local Microsoft reseller. I need a quick way to restore my machine in the case of a HDD failure and having the full retail DVD is definitely the best way to do that. If I upgrade by buying the Windows 8.1 Pro Pack, should my HDD ever failure,
I'll have to do the Lenovo restore procedure (which would restore the computer to Windows 8 SL), then upgrade to Windows 8.1 and only after that I could apply the Windows 8.1 Pro Pack.
My question is: will I be able to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro on my computer? Of course I'm aware I'll have to delete the partition Windows 8.1 is currently installed on. No problem with that.
But what about the license key? I've read that computers that come with Windows 8 pre-installed have the Windows license key embedded on the BIOS. Will I be able to start the standard Windows 8.1 Pro installation from the DVD and use the license key that comes
with the DVD?
It's very important for me being absolutely sure I'll be able to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro on my Lenovo desktop. The Windows 8.1 Pro full retail DVD is rather expensive here in Brazil (about US$ 320).

System Image Backup feature to backup your system.Also,you can use this feature to restore your system quickly.
In addition,britishdhez is right.
We can use the Retail license key to active the Windows 8.1 Pro.

I have just installed the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium on my G5 Mac (tower).
Everything was installed OK except Acrobat Pro 9 - it's just not there. I've had three goes at it now with no success.
The machine in question has had Acrobat Pro installed on another volume but I've run the uninstaller to remove all support files (which may have made the installer think that Acrobat Pro was already installed) but that made no difference.
I know it is supposed to get installed because I've done it numerous times before, plus it even says on the box that it's a standard part of the package but it doesn't show up as an option to install, nor as a successfully installed component at the end of the install process, nor does it appear in my applications folder.
Help!Insert the DVD and dismiss the install for now. That leaves the DVD on on the desktop.
Click on the DVD Icon to open the DVD ( then click in an of the folders and see what installers are there.
Below I will show a some screen shots to represent what I am talking about: They are not of the CS package but you get an idea of what I am talinkg about.
Click ⬆ it will open up next you something simlar to these in that you should see Folders
IF while in finder you should be able to go to view menu and click on List view you should see something list this:
Look in each of the folders and see what's there.
See if acrobat is on the DVD.
If not its not part of the CS5 collection.
If you have a copy of Acrobat on another CD you'll have to install from there and use the serial number with that DVD.
Remeber these screenshots are just to illustrate what I am talking about. (I used the install Disk for X.4 for the screen shots)
If it is on there use the uninstaller (if there is one) to uninstall the entire CS5 collection and remove any Preference, and Plist files, and file in application support, anywhere (except any data files you have created). then Start over. install everything. Next don't touch Acrobat until you have opened another program (example Photoshop) leave that program open then open Acrobat. Do not open Acrobat first you'll be in the same fix you are now.
