Acrobat 8 pro printer issue started today, auto scrolls to Microsoft XPS Document writer.

I have used Acrobat 8 Pro for many years with no problems. Yesterday, when I went to print a document, it auto scrolled down to Microsoft XPS document writer. I could not select my installed Brothers Printer.
I have also encountered auto scroll issues when opening my C drive.
I have installed Adobe Acrobat 8 updates, have run virus and malware software programs and they show no infections.
Nothing I have tried corrects this issue.
Has anyone else run into this ?
Any suggestions as to how this issue can be corrected?
Thanks,

Hi Auto5starz,
For the printer issue ,please take the following steps to have a check :
1. Run the tool in the link to have a check

2.Clear the spooler cache to have a check .
   a. Search “Service.msc” and navigate to “Printer Spooler” service and stop it.
    b. Look for this folder "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" and delete all files in it.
    c. Restart “Printer Spooler” service.
3.Update the printer driver or reinstall it ,you may need to download the manufacturer driver for it.
For the second issue ,apart from Rob`s suggestion ,please reset the Internet Explorer to have a check .( Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab>Reset)

  • FireFox 3.6.13 Locks up Microsoft XPS Document Writer, PDF995 (created Acrobat pdf file output) stops printing mid document, and Internet Explorer works fine

Microsoft XPS Document Writer locks up and PDF995.com (creates acrabat pdf file) stops printing after the second page from this site http://super.nova.org/DPR/CinematicApproach/. This was a Windows 7, 64 bit machine that had the issue. Microsoft Internet explorer works fine and printed the document with Internet Explorer.
The machine that displayed FireFox printing issues was a up to date Win 7, 64 bit, Quad Core, 8 Gig Ram. Don't really have a question just reporting a FireFox Bug.

    Hi,
do you have a solution for the problem? We have actually a similar problem with locked IE8 when using a zoom factor > 100% (it's a customer WD4A).

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.

  • Why does Firefox 7 freeze when I paste a filename when printing to a file using Microsoft XPS Document Writer?

This is more of a bug, and it doesn't seem to happen all the time.
I like printing web pages to Microsoft XPS Document Writer (.xps) format. FF7 seems to freeze often when I paste a filename (usually from copying something, like the title, from the web page itself) after trying to print to a file using Microsoft XPS Document Writer. I think it may be that I wind up copying some special formatting (or maybe a line break) and that causes FF to freeze (I then have to force-close it using Task Manager). Just a bug that I hope the developers will note and fix.
Another question, not quite related to the above, but is there a way to save an html web page to save only the text stuff? When I save to Text File in Firefox, I usually wind up with all the html crap in it too, when I just wanted the text content portion. TIA.

Can you undo the system restore?
Note that using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.
*You may lose data in the Firefox profile folder like .js and .ini files pr profiles.ini can be affected.
*You may need to (re)install software that was affected.
In case you need to reinstall Firefox then you need to delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling to make sure that all files get replaced.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Adobe acrobat X pro printing issues

I purchased Adobe Acrobat X pro and it was installed on Windows 7/64 bits PC.
I have issues with printing into PDF file for web page. It seems that if I click "convert to PDF" icon on Explorer, it does not have problem converting a web page into PDF. However, if I right mouse click on "print" on a web site, I get a "postscript error" message on Notepad" instead of generating PDF file. With a different web site, it did create a PDF file, but some characters were totally garbage, totally illegible. But it did create a PDF with no problem at all for a certain web page. I had a similar problem with a previous version of Acrobat Pro, but this time it is more extreme.
Am I not supposed to use right mouse click on "print" in order to generate PDF files at all? Do I have to use "Create PDF-from a web page" menu to successfully generate PDF files, but not on "print" using right mouse? Or is this problem occuring specific to Windows 7/64 bits PC? But Acrobat X pro is supposed to work with 64 bits.
I do not seem to have any problems converting files, such as Word, Excel, or JPEG into PDF files so far....
    Any suggestion is grealy appreciated.
    Henry

We are unable to reproduce the issue at my end. We are able to print fine using both PS and PCL printers. Could you please let me know the exact make of the printer at your end? Also, let me know whether you are using a  PS driver or a PCL driver.
    Thanks,
    Atul

Acrobat X Pro (10.1.6) won't start after Windows update on 3/13/13. Running Windows 7. I do not have CS6 and the Acrofix download does not solve the problem. I have reinstalled the software, applied Adobe updates (at least what I could find) and updated all Dell drivers. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

Thanks Bill. I did try the repair first before I reinstalled the first

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro: Printing Preferences display issue

    Hi everyone,
A user reported an issue with the PDF Printer Preferences drop-down menus running outside the window and that there should be more checkboxes below the three that are showing (see screenshots).
Here is a screenshot of this same window on a coworker's machine (same version of Adobe and Windows).
We are using Windows XP SP3. Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.3.1), and current video driver. The resolution is currently set to max, but I tried a few other resolutions but they made no difference on how the PDF Printing Preferences displayed. I've tried repairing, uninstalling, restarting, and then reinstalling but none have done the trick yet. I also have checked the DPI settings and it is set to Normal.
If you have any advise, please let me know.
    Thanks!

    SOLUTION:
The issue was somehow related to DPI (START > Settings > Control Pannel > Display > Settings Tab > Advanced button). Eventhough the DPI was set to normal, I switched it to LARGE, restarted the machine, logged in after the reboot, changed it back to normal size, restarted again, logged in once more, checked the Printer Preferences and PRESTO --- a properly displayed window.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Printer Drivers does not pass windows logo testing.

    Issue:
I'am using the Acrobat Wizard tool to customize Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to run create Adobe installed to run siliently within our network but I recieve the following hardware prompt to complete the install.
During the install of the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro I recieve a Hardware Installation prompt:
The software you are installing for this hardware:
    Printer
Has not passed Windows Logo testing to verfiy its compatibility with Windows XP.
Continue your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.
Is there any way I can download the drivers before I run the installation or is there a patch for Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
    Thanks

When I start itunes i get the message "Itunes was not properly installed if you wish to burn Cds you will need to reinstall itunes" Any ideas what i should do anyone?
That sounds like the GEAR drivers that iTunes uses for burning and importing aren't going in properly. (or there's damaged GEAR drivers for an old install stuck on the PC.
Perhaps manually uninstalling and reinstalling the GEAR drivers can get you past this. There's instructions for that on the GEAR wiki:

Bill...  do not misunderstand my words as your views are not my intentions.  Take into account, there is a difference between asking the OP, "Have you checked the Print Drivers", and or, "If so, what did you learn?"; rather than telling the OP what the issue is before all facts are gathered, then becoming defensive or insulted.
    Example:
I am cooking.  I taste the food and say, "Something doesn't taste right.  You say, "You didn't add salt".  I respond, "I did, it's not salt, it must be something else".  Instead of asking first if I added salt, or offering another suggestion, you are insulted and or become defensive.  Case in point.
I hope this cleared up your unjustified comment.
    Back on subject:
I posted the screen-shot on the fly and first time using this forum and its UI.  When it is clicked on, it expands (as you saw).  After it expands.  Change the "Zoom Level" on your screen to find the correct resolution.  Hint - It tells no more than the words in my original post.
Thanks for your help.  I'm going to sleep before the sun comes up.  Have a happy Sunday.

  • Acrobat 10 Pro scanning issues

I just upgraded to Acrobat 10 Pro running snow leopard and Using HP officejet Pro 8500 for scanner. When I try to create a PDF from scanner through Acrobat I get three Choices. SANE, HP Scan, and Vuescan TWAIN.  If I select HP Scan or Vuescan it opens up those respective programs. If SANE is selected the following appears after a few moments.
After you click ok the following appears.
I previously installed(before the upgrade to Acrobat 10 from 8.0) the SANE driver but am wondering if I did something wrong. Not sure what I need to do to get Acrobat talking directly to the scanner. I have the latest drivers for the printer.
My goal is to be able to scan a document (create a PDF ) directly with Acrobat instead of sending the the scan through the other programs and then ulimately to acrobat where the document will be managed.
I had this set up this way when I had Acrobat 8.0 and before I upgraded to Snow Leopard which I am regretting right now as this is very frustrating after years of it working fine now I find myself dead in the water after an "upgrade" to the OS.  Can someone please help me get this thing working smoothly again.
From What I have read it might have something to do with TWAIN drivers but frankly I need step by step help to get me back up and running.

    Hi
You wrote "When I try to create a PDF from scanner through Acrobat I get three Choices. SANE, HP Scan, and Vuescan TWAIN.  If I select HP Scan or Vuescan it opens up those respective programs"  but did not disclose what happens after that. So, please tell if you are able to complete your scanning without any issues after HP Scanning software launches its dialog.
You also mentioned that you want Acrobat to directly scan from scanner without going through any other software. In this regard, I would like to tell you that, on Mac, Acrobat cannot handle scanning in Headless mode i.e without showing the scanner dialog. Although this works on Windows. Still, I would say it should be better than going through SANE. So, please let me know if you are able to scan directly with HP's genuine software.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Kerning Issue

I just loaded Acrobat 9 Pro on several machines with an XP operating system.
If you use the Text Edit function it will create numerous spaces between letters (Kerning) throught the document.
The changes appear to be random and makes the document unusable.
I asked Adobe for help - but, they thought they were Toyota (Couldn't fix anything.).
    Serious HELP is needed!

Found these posts when searching for solution to similar problem.
We have experienced similar issues with Acrobat 9 Pro when assembling PDF files from various sources.  The main document was prduced from Word 2007 and all appears fine to start with, but after inserting pages from various other sources the kerning issue rears its ugly head.
We have had some success in overcoming it using the Optimise facility but it is not always consistent, and I have a document now that refuses to revert to the correct kerning.

  • Acrobat 7 pro installation issues in windows 7

I am trying to install acrobat 7 pro on a windows 7 machine. I followed the directions from chat to download updated program and new serial number because of activation issues. All went well until setup said I didn't have access to files in programfiles (86) such as AcroPDF.FRA. No such file. Setup shuts down and I'm back at square one. HELP!!!

I was able to install it on Win 7, even the 64-bit version. But neither AcroTray or the Adobe PDF print driver for AA 7 works on Win 7. That means you have to use workarounds to get things done if you succeed in installing. it is time for you to probably buy a new copy.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro memory issues

I work for a company that scans micro film cards into the computer. Each micro film card usually has about 4 to 5 pages on each card. The scanner we use scans those 5 pages into one pdf page. We just bought adobe acrobat x pro to help us split these images into separate pages. First we highlight the first part of the image, copy to clipboard, then under more insert options we insert from clipboard. This works as intended, but we run into a snag, 1st adobe starts eating up a lot of memory, and it gets slower and slower when you cut and insert pages. Usually after you have closed about 6 separate documents adobe bogs down to the point where it stops responding and has to shut down. I have searched on the web for the past 3 days trying to find out how to resolve this. I have done everything from removing add-ons, setting adobe as admin, running it in xp mode, setting affinity, setting priority, downgrading to a fresh install with no patch. I am at my wits end, any help would be appreciative.

Great... so there is no update to get over this pixelated text/art issue for Acrobat Pro X (10.1.13) due to the retina display???
I am a graphic designer so I know what I am viewing is hires. All my art & copy is pixelated and when I open in the newest reader the art is fine. Is there a more efficient workaround besides open in reader but use pro for any edits?
