Acrobat 8 Pro swf video problem

I'm embedding video inside a pdf file. I wanted to use swf as a single source video to reduce the overall file size but... every swf conversion I insert in the file plays in a continuous loop! The only way to stop it is to close the entire pdf. The "loop" function in the preferences is NOT checked. Also, the triggers and actions will not apply to swf but work fine with other video formats. The Windows Media Player and QuickTime formats embed and work just fine with all actions and triggers. But now the file is getting bulky with renditions.
What's up with Adobe's own video format going berserk inside an Adobe program?

I need to know how to STOP video embedded in pdf from playing in a continuous loop. The "loop" option is de-selected and it loops anyhow. A little help please? ~Thanks

  • Acrobat 9 Pro update download problems

Note: I recently hooked up a Samsung 830 128GB SSD to an old Dell Optiplex GX280. The OS is Win XP Pro. I've had issues running the Windows and Microsoft Update manually and had to resort to just using auto-updates (which for some reason works without problem).
I am unable to get updates for Acrobat from both the "Check for Updates" in Acrobat Pro and from the site. Pro's update option is just trying to download the updater. As for the site, it's from downloading any update from the download section for Acrobat.
In both cases, the download stalls itself at around 80-99.9% complete. I had no issues installing Acrobat 9 Pro. I noticed that before stalling, the download rate drastically drops before locking itself. So it might have been downloading at 900KB, when it hits around the 80% mark it'll drop to around 300KB and quickly drop further. It usually locks itself at 100-200KB/sec. Mind you, the download window or browser are not frozen. I can still interact with them without issues (I can download other things, browse pages, and cancel that locked download). The in-program updater might stall itself after I click cancel, but it usually functions properly by showing that window with options to take in canceling.
The one that stands out the most is the fact I can't download the updates manually. I've tried Firefox and Chrome, and both result in the same problem. I've also tried this with several update files. Oddly enough, it's only the update files that have this problem. I've successfully downloaded other files from Adobe like Flash and Reader X installer (which also downloaded and installed fine). The downloads I've done from other sites, like Malwarebytes, all downloaded and updated fine.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm assuming it has a tie-in with my Windows/Microsoft Update problem. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bill, thanks for the reply. That page is actually what I was referring to by being unable to get updates from the site. I tried it again, following your link (just in case), and the problem still occurs. I'm looking at it right now and typing as I go (so things are being typed in as I see them), 88% of 1 file, dl rate of ~900KB/sec before that 88% and dropped to ~150KB/sec for maybe 30sec. It swiftly dropped further and is now 90% and "downloading" at 72.8KB/sec. I say downloading but it's actually just idling itself, as it did when it hit 88%. About 2-3min later, it is still at 90% and is stuck at 59.0KB/sec dl rate.
If this is similar to the others, it will eventually stall itself indefinitely. In the case of the previously mentioned attempts, several hours go by with no progress. The Windows/Microsoft Update problem, I left it running for about 6hrs with no progress at all.
Any advice on what to do would be much appreciated.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Serial Number Problem - 3 Separate Licenses

I own 3 separate licenses of Acrobat 9 Pro and have owned several licenses going clear back to Acrobat 6.  We have used them on the office computers and home or laptop just as the license authorizes.
Recently we had a problem of employees getting confused as to which license or Serial Number of 9 Pro was installed on which machine and apparently the number of authorized installs was exceeded.   The solution to that was to go around and try to determine which SN was installed on which computer.
With all prior versions, this was an easy task.  You simply clicked on the Help tab and selected the About option and it gave you a screen that showed the SN of the license installed on that computer.   That way you could keep straight which was installed on which, and you could that way monitor employees so that the authorized number of installs were not exceeded and that deactivation had been done properly.  We had a new computer we needed to install 9 Pro on but we needed to know the SN on the old machine in order to make sure we had the deactivation done properly.
I was taken by surprise to discover that this method of determining the installed SN would not work on 9 Pro.  The "About" screen showed no SN. It showed patent information and credits, but no SN.  I checked this on all three licenses and it was the same on each one.
I called Tech Support and got into the support problem from Hell over what should be a simple issue.  I went through 4 separate techies and 5 different calls. After spending most of the day dealing with this issue, and a substantial loss of revenue.  I was given completely wrong information by 3 of the techies (called lies in my culture) and the 4th one claimed there was no possible way to determine the SN of the license running on any individual computer under 9 Pro.
I then called the sales department for volume licensing and was told that if I bought 3 licenses under the volume license program, I could have one serial number and get rid of the 3 SN problem.  I was told that I could get a refund on my 3 separate licenses and this would fix my problem.  I stated 3 times that I would buy the volume licenses only if I was guaranteed a refund for the 3 separate licenses.  Each time I was assured that would occur.  After the new sale for the volume licenses was completed, I was transferred to another department for the refunds and the refund request was refused!!!!   It took the rest of that day and part of the next to get a response back from the sales person that sold me the volume licenses and get that transaction cancelled.  They still charged my credit card and then it took several more days to get that reversed.  On top of all of that, Adobe keeps attempting to close my support incident claiming it is resolved when it most certainly is not.
I have been computing for over 20 years and I would have to say this was the worst tech support treatment I have ever experienced.  I am simply amazed and disgusted.  As a user of Acrobat over many years,  I am so mad that if 10 users wanted to file a class action suit against Adobe, I might do it for nothing.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way to determine the SN of the license of 9 Pro that is running on a computer?  If not, how else can you keep straight which install is on which computer and which needs to be deactivated when you replace the computer or try to move it to another?
This would seem to me to be a huge problem and I am extremely surprised that Adobe seems to simply be ignoring it and that the tech support people are telling fibs.
Any information would be most appreciated.

Sorry that you got such a hassle. Try this. I don't have Acrobat 9 per se, but I have the TCS2 and found the following.
Run Regedit (all the serious warning apply here. Look but don't touch).
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNINE->SOFTWARE->Adobe->Repair->Adobe Acrobat->9.0->IOD Look under the entry under SERIAL.
Maybe it works maybe it doesn't. But it might help.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Slow Printing Problem on Dell 3000cn

I have just downloaded Acrobat 9 Pro as a trial, I want to buy it but not if this problem continues - maybe there is a fix??
I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on my local machine and I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have a networked (through a server) printer it is a Dell 3000cn that I print several emailed PDF files on everyday. Since downloading this new program (it required me to remove all other versions of Adobe prior to install - which I did) it seriously takes 2 minutes from when I hit the print button to actually open the printer selection screen. Once I have selected the printer (in this case it is the 3000cn - it is the only color printer) it takes another 2 minutes to actually print the document. Normally I wouldn't be bothered by a process taking so long but I have to do this with an average of 20-30 documents per day (which means that I end up spending around 1 1/2 hours trying to print).
I have combed through the forums here and can't find anything that helps my specific problem. I have checked with Dell and they say that the printer does not have a PostScript driver (which I have read may help my problem)...
    Any ideas??

Make a local printer your DEFAULT and see if that helps
I only use a local printer (with version 8x) so didn't keep the link, but there is previous discussion about problems if you don't have a local printer as default... and, if I remember correctly, a link to download a "dummy" printer driver which you may install and set as default

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro & Office 2010 problem

    So.
We have a machine with Windows 7, Office 2010 Home and Business and Adobe Acrobat X Pro
Earlier everthing was ok, but now we have a small problem.
The PDFMaker don't work with Word. The Add-on is disabled and when I try to enable nothing happends. In Excel and PowerPoint it works.
I've tried to repair Adobe. Tried to uninstall the PDFMaker part and reinstall. Tried to repair Office. Also restarted the computer. No difference.
Still working in Excel and PowerPoint, but in Word the PDFMaker isn't available.
    What can I try now?
And of course, we use it mostly with Word.

    Hi "McBack",
You can try deleting the entry for PDFMaker in the disabled items @ “HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Resiliency\DisabledItems". The entry corresponding to the PDFMaker can be checked via double-clicking the individual list items under “Disabled Items” hive and checking for the string that reflects the location of PDFMaker COM-Add-In, say “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll”.

  • Acrobat 9 pro double opening problem, in PS and Acrobat ?

I've seen other posts about PS refusal to open an Acrobat 9 pro file, and tried the suggestions for sneaking the file in by copying via Reader, etc.  This drastically reduces resolution, and I'm creating a file for publishing.  I also tried sending the file to a professional designer, who is using the latest acrobat on her end, on an Apple. She can't open my file either.
PS gives me the message: "There was an error processing the document.  The file may be damaged or corrupted.
My designer, using Acrobat, gets the message: File is damaged and cannot be repaired.
As many people have noted, this did not happen with Acrobat 7.  How do you get past this?  Can it be the upgrading to Acrobat 9 renders the other Adobe programs useless unless they're upgraded as well?  I thought only Microsoft did that.

    Hi,
Without more information I am only guessing, but I suspect it's an issue related to the version of PDF and the version of Photoshop you are using. Although we certainly don't specifically work to prevent people from using different versions of the software together, this can result from version mismatches. For example, if you are using Acrobat 7, then I am guessing you might be using Photoshop CS2. Acrobat 9 (and more importantly PDF 1.8) didn't exist then, and there is no way to predict what cool things might be added to future releases—like the Flash player.
The good news is that you can essentially back-save a PDF with Acrobat to fix this. Try this: Advanced: PDF Optimizer: and choose Make Compatible with Acrobat 7 and try it again. If that doesn't work for you, repost with the following details:
    Version of Photoshop
Version of Acrobat you are using
Attach a file if you can
And I'll try to see what's happening.

  • Trial Version of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended Installation Problems

I just downloaded a trail version of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. We are trying to install this version on Windows Vista Enterprise which is being vertualized with Parallels version 3.0 on a Mac O/S Leopard. We get the following errors; Main_File_Version Error, Product_Registry_Parant Error, and Product_Registry_Key Error. Does any know if Acrobat 9 will work in this type of environment?

I cannot speak for the trial or Vista, but Pro 9 Extended works well
    with XP SP3 under Parallels.

The host of the meeting should be able to start and stop recording the live session whenever they want/need. Then the recording is viewable from a link, not dissimilar to the link for the live meeting.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Unusual Organizer Problem

I am currently using Acrobat Pro 9.4.6, but this problem first occurred two updates ago.  The last two times I made a new Organizer collection, it added multiple entries for the same collection.  These multiple entries appear on the drop down list for the Organizer collections in the main Acrobat window, but do not appear in the Organizer window itself.  Each of the multiple entries contain the same items I put in the collection, and it doesn't matter which of the multiple entries I choose -- all the shortcuts are valid shortcuts and will open the documents for me.  The multiple entries are therefore identical.  The first time this happened, it created three multiple entries; the last time I made a new Organizer collection, two days ago, it created six multiple entries.  I can't figure out how to eliminate the multiple entries without deleting the entire collection and starting over; I've even tried this, but when I create another collection, the problem will just happen again.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

There is a kb document on this error.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro form distribution problem (Enhanced Security?)

I am trying to distribute an Acrobat Pro form to several individuals who happen to be listed in my Outlook 2003 Address Book. When I type an email address into the "To" section of the form distribution pane, Acrobat automatically converts the email address to the recipient's name, which I can only assume is being accessed throughthe Outlook Address Book. Is there any way to isolate Acrobat Pro from my address book? Would changing the Acrobat preferences for "Security (Enhanced)" and un-checking "Automatically trust sites from my Win OS security zones" keep Acrobat from accessing my Outlook address book?

Is it tunred off for the Reader installation or in your Acrobat installation. It doesn't matter what your Acrobat settings are when it's used by someone else with Reader.
Recent versions of Acrobat/Reader do not cache form data in the way mentioned by GKaiseril. This used to happen when a form was viewed in a browser.

  • MX Pro 2004 Video Problems

    Hi Everyone,
I am building a tour interface with Flash MX Professional
2004 which will allow users to view 360 panoramic movies of
different areas. These panoramics were created from sets of digital
photos and stitched together using Canon Photostitch, which is the
software that comes with the camera, and then saved as a Quicktime
    file (.mov).
My problem is that when I try to import any of the videos
onto the stage, or into the library, I get an error of "Flash
doesn't recognize the file format of 'said files.mov'. Would you
like to try import via QuickTime?" And if I choose "Yes" then I get
the error: "One of more files were not imported because there were
problems reading them." So, I'm not sure what is causing this
problem. I do, however, know that it isn't just something messed up
with the video importing, as I have recently used Flash to create
an interface for another QuickTime movie, the difference being that
that one was not panoramic, and I was able to import and work with
    that .mov file without problems.
Any ideas what might be causing this and how I can fix it
    would be greatly appreciated.

'Panoramaic' in QuickTime are known as QTVR movies, and Flash
    doesn't
support them at all. Either put them on your site as QTVR
    (you can add
hotspots etc), or you'll have to stitch the images together
    yourself, and
beg, buy, borrow or build your own viewer in Flash:..

  • Can Acrobat XI Pro with videos provide good security?

eBooks provide a good basis for use of videos. I reviewed the process to use videos within Acrobat X (I?). Much of the information related to completion of forms and collaborative projects.  Apparently InDesign does not have a way to include videos. I have prepared iBooks using iBooks Author. The result, even as a novice, was fine. However, Adobe's CC relationship encourages use of several robust software, such as Audition, that would enhance my use of videos.  Rather than switch between PC, needed for an only PC program, and a MAC  I would like to configure future eBooks within the PC environment.  Apple's iBooks environment provides indicated security, even with an assortment of media types(videos, slide shows, Qs and As).  Acrobat XI appears to be a good resource with its new video inclusion capability.  However, security is an important element.  Does Acrobat XI provide sufficient security to prevent abuse of copyright material?
