Acrobat 8 Professional - Autocad - Adobe PDF options

I have Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2, Autocad 2008 and Acrobat 8 Professional Trial version.
when I am in Autocad and do a print to adobe pdf, I am always prompted for the filename and folder where the pdf file will be saved. the filename which is proposed always has the original dwg filename and also the layout name. the proposed folder is always the same as that of the previous pdf saved.
I have 2 questions about this:
1 - is there an option somewhere in acrobat 8 pro so as to permanently propose only to save with the dwg filename?
2 - is there an option somewhere in acrobat 8 pro so that the saving folder is the same as that of the dwg file?
Thanks,
A.Briand

Spectraflash...I'm trying to load the pdfmaker (adobe pro-8) tool bar in AutoCAD lt-08 I've tried to load them by adding pdfmaker.arx into my cui menus, is this what you're referring to as "start up suite"? I've tried every twist or turn I can think of to get them to load and be displayed but to no satisfaction. I would like to be able to plot to adobe with layers and several layout pages at once, very time consuming if I have to do each layout one at at time. Maybe (and I sure I am) missing something small, but if I have to call my IT department one more time to try and resolve this...well I would rather poke myself in the eye with a rusty screwdriver! They can't grasp the idea of "layers" and I'm to tired to go through it one more time. Anyway you can restate your comments above?

Thanks for getting back to me, but I am a novice ( softer word the 'dummy') and I cannot follow your directions; I don't "SEE' the items you mention so let me try to paint a clearer picture
When I have a document that I want t print.....I go to the file menu and select "PRINT' from the drop down menu, That opens window that has an oval window that allow me to drop down to see what printers are available....I have TWO......a Brothers MFC-5490cn and a Lexmark
NOW..tose ar my only two options......prior to up grading )from Snow Leopard) to Lion.....there was a third option....which 'Adobe PDF Printer', and THAT is the one I've lost.
My goal is to get it back into the Printer Window as a third option.

  • Error instling Acrobat - a higher version Adobe PDF creation Add-On is already

When I try to install Acrobat XI Pro the setup complains "Setup has detected that your already have a higher version product - Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 11.0.01 installed. Setup will now terminate." How can I complete the Acrobat install?

    The correct answer is
Uninstall the Adobe PDF Add-on via Add/Remove Control Panel and then install Adobe Acrobat XI.

Did you activate the Automator action which controls the "Save As Adobe PDF" function. Look around here to find some instructions on doing this. There should be a copy in HD>Library>Automator which needs to be double-clicked to install. There might be others so find and delete them.
Although I haven't changed to leopard(or the Snow variety) I've been reading up on this problem. First there has been information that for some reason the automator action for this which is supposed to be system level action; is found in more than one Libraray>Automator folder. There should only be one. Also for some strange reason the action requires that  Rosetta be installed to work. You actually have to double click on the action for it to install. And finally, the patchts and upgrades From Apple of snow Leopard as of late either removes and reinstalls sometimes in the wrong place meaning you got to start all over again.   there are three Automator folders, one at Main level, one at User level, and one at system level. anthing having to do with printing should be at system level, period. Be it actually printing or creating PDF's.  (source cNet, ZDnet, Coumputerworld, , Mac-Fix-it.)

  • Adobe professional 8 - adobe pdf printer problem

Running windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition and have installed adobe professional 8. When I fx. want to print a file to the "adobe pdf" printer the job newer is finished. It is just stay in the printer que, and nothing happends.
Have tried to remove the Adobe XI reader, that was installed, if it could be any conflict but did not help. I also tried with a repair of whole adobe prof. package, but still the same problem.
If I look on the adobe pdf printer and look on which port it is printing to it is standing as LPT1 ? - is that correct. There is not any other adobe pdf port available if I would like to create one.

The updates are critical when using an old version. Even older versions can be made to work in 32-bit systems, but have to have workarounds. However, folks have reported success for AA8 with both 32 and 64-bit systems, but the updates were critical.

  • Acrobat 8.1.2: Adobe PDF not installed during Acrobat installation

The Printer device, Adobe PDF, does not install when an acrobat installation is run on Windows XP 32. No errors are given, the device simply isn't installed.
Help is appreciated, as this is a problem for our software deployment.

    >Alternatively, is there any way to install Adobe PDF -AFTER- Acrobat is installed?
No, it's part of the install. You probably need to give many more
details, since for almost everyone, the Adobe PDF printer does just
    appear.

i reinstalled all aplication with old versions but sill have the same error .please give  a solution . thank you.

thank you for the suggestion, but I do not have a "Send Email" or "Submit" button available in my version. I have "Attach to email" option which automatically opens a new message in MS outlook (which I did not set up, it just started doing so automatically) without any further dialogue boxes or options.
Also, this is only for regular PDF files, not forms.

Open a word file, Print -> PDF -> Save as Adobe PDF -> option : "High Quality Print"  and "Adobe Acrobat Pro" -> Continue -> change Name and location -> Save. Then the "Save as Adobe PDF" Automator pop up on Dock, a "Save as Adobe PDF" window will show "Finalizing PDF file..." and not reponding......... have to Force Quit.
But, if I use "Save as PDF" on Print, it works but will creat a very large PDF file. For example, my DOCX file is only 270KB, the PDF will be 23MB.

Your comment all software is up to date is wrong.
Unless You using a PowerPC Machine  OSX up to 9.1
Acrobat X may be at 10.1.8  but the newest available is Acrobat 11.0.4
And what seriously out of date and may be causing your issues is That Office2011 is up 14.3.9 By using out of date application may cause part of your issues. Note it does take a Long time to process a Large document
If you can get the PDF to open
Look for and Choose Optimized PDF or PDF Optimzer
click fonts if you see any duplicate Fonts
example two or three copies or more of say Helvetica Bold Italic
click on all but one of them and move to unembed
Repeat with all Fonts that have duplicates.
    Then click okay when done.
This issue can be caused by older versions of software.
But if downloaded from a PC the number one reason is that unlike Mac in which your old allowed one copy of a Font/Font Family. PC doesn't care how many copies fonts there are on the computer. Whatever app just choose one to use at that moment. So you could have 20 versions of Helvetica bold Italic and the syetem doesn't care.
I've received PDF from PDF's from PC's and there have been as many as 10 copies of one font.  Once optimized the files size went down.

  • Why am I not seeing Adobe PDF as an option in my Dialog Box?

I am trying to prepare a booklet for print. After selecting Print Booklet option, the Adobe pdf option is no longer in my Print Dialog Box. I need to send this file to a printer so it must be formated as the pdf. Why am I not seeing  Adobe PDF as an option in my Dialog Box?

  • Cannot print to Adobe PDF from InDesign CS4 under Snow Leopard (10.6.2)

    Hello All,
Hopefully the subject line says all. Running SL and CS4, and after manually deleting the "old" Adobe PDF 9.0 driver, I am unable to print to PDF — or select "Save As Adobe PDF" under the Mac OS print dialog. This is insanely frustrating on may levels, as this was once a 3-minute operation and now has stretched into two days of futile searching for a solution.
There is a "tech doc" somewhere out there that offers a "solution". But beware, as it has not worked for me. Once you manually search for and remove the Adobe PDF 9.0 driver, you are supposed to magically be able to select the "Save As Adobe PDF" option. This is not the case for me.
Am trying to print, once again, from InDesign CS4 (NOT via the Export command as that will not allow me to set page size, or print separations). There is no Adobe PDF driver there anymore and there is no option to print PDFs. Of course, I can rest easier with the knowledge that everything is easier now in SL.

For a long time I was printing out of InDesign CS4 to a PS file and Distilling to a PDF, either composite or separated. Then Snow Leopard came along and that workflow seemed no longer available. It seems some well meaning people didn't understand a professional DTP workflow.
I had to work between two Macs to create a project and then make separations.
Eventually I went back to the Adobe InDesign forums and folks insisted that a Adobe PDF 9 printer should be available in my print drivers.
On that suggestion I completely uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and then reinstalled it.
It worked, I had the PDF printer back and can now print to a postscript file and do separations as I always have.
(Another story is that Snow Leopard killed my Epson 2200 printer)
At one stage I did an update of Acrobat 9 and it caused me to lose the Adobe printer again. Going through the procedure again brought it back and this time after a Acrobat 9 update it stuck.
In my opinion somebody screwed up. It's not enough to be able to create PDFs out of Microsoft Word. There are people out here trying to make a living and need to be able to create print separations for some offset printers.

  • Adobe PDF not in Outlook 2003 toolbar

Hello--I have Adobe Acrobat 8 professional and I recently installed Microsoft Office 2003. The Adobe PDF option appears in the toolbar for Word but does not appear in the toolbar for the Outlook 2003. How do I add this option to Outlook 2003?

You can try couple of things:
    1) Right-click on Outlook toolbar area and make sure that "Acrobat PDFMaker 8.0" is checked.
    2) Help > About Microsoft Office Outlook > Disabled Items: If Outlook PDFMaker add-in is listed in this dialog, then select it and click on "Enable" push button and restart Outlook.
Let us know, if these steps helped you or not.
    Thanks,
    - Vishal.
