Acrobat 8 Standard and X Pro

I have Acrobat 8 Standard. I would like to be able to create forms that allow users to add info to fields and to be able to submit those forms. I have been looking over the info on X Pro but I am wondering if I order the software upgrade, will I need to upgrade my full version of 8 to 9 first, or can I get all of the functionality of X Pro with 8 Standard only?
Thoughts?
Thanks.

No version of Acrobat Standard provides the full functionality of Acrobat Pro.
The Pro release always provides more.
If you want to create PDF forms that can be filled in and saved by others who use Adobe Reader you must use Acrobat X Pro (to "reader enable" the PDF).

    Hi Timothy,
The account cannot be validated error was due to a glitch on our activation server that has been fixed now.
Please try using acrobat now and check if you are still facing the problem.

  • Acrobat Standard and Photoshop Elements download & install

I bought Acrobat Standard and Photoshop Elements online.  They seemed to download, but not install.

if so, what happens when you click (or double click) an installation file?

  • Adobe Reader 8 compatible with Acrobat Standard and Pro 7?

Our organization has Adobe Reader 7 deployed to all users. Some users also have Acrobat Standard 7 or Acrobat Pro 7. We want to upgrade all users to Adobe Reader 8 (or maybe 9) but do not want to upgrade Standard and Pro users yet.
I have not been able to find any information about compatibility issues with Reader 8 and older versions of Acrobat, but last time we did an upgrade in similar fashion we experienced issues. Any insight?

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled across something today after posting. I had already known that If the ARX user also had one of the other products (AAXS or AAXP), then they would get the dialog box. Here is what I just figured out: if the user uninstalled ARX and re-installed (still having both ARX and AAXS or AAXP in the end) then they no longer get the dialog box. It seems like perhaps its an issue the AAXP and AAXS are overwriting something in the registry.

  • Disable or Hide Online Support menu option from: Reader, Acrobat Standard and Pro XI 11.0.2

    Hi,
I'm trying to make a custom installation for 3 applications: Adobe Reader XI 11.0.2, Acrobat Std. and Pro XI 11.0.2  and most of the options that I wanted to hide are done with the Customization Wizard but I can't hide Online Support. I didn't found yet any FeatureLockDown for this option so far. So our users can still use the Online Support options.
Notice that I tried to drop a script into: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\Javascripts   but when you 1st open the application it has a delay and somehow you still can access it. But if you try to open it again the menu is hidden.
    //HideMenu.js
    //Help - Online Support
    app.hideMenuItem("OnlineSupport");
But a FeatureLockDown on HKLM hive will be the best way to disable this option as users don't have access to this registry hive and some advanced users with more rights could be able to delete the .js file if they know where it is saved.
I will appreaciate your help to get this FeatureLockDown option if it exists or an alternative way.
Thanks as usual and Kind regards everyone.
    Derspinne.

  • Just bought acrobat standard and it won't download on my macbook

i downloaded the trial, then bought the software and now its telling me its not available for mac.  The trial downloaded and operated just fine on the mac.  Help?

    Hi Peter,
It sounds like you downloaded the Acrobat Pro trial for Mac OS, but then purchased an Acrobat Standard subscription, which is only available for Windows. If you'd like to return or exchange your subscription for Acrobat Pro for Mac OS, please  Contact Customer Care. An agent will be able to sort that out for you.
    I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • I want to download the 'TRIAL' version of Acrobat 'Standard' not the 'Pro' version

I want to buy the Acrobat Standard version for my company's laptop, but I need to make sure that Acrobat Standard is enough for my work or not. However, I can download only the Pro version of Acrobat which I don't need to. How can I have a trial version of Acrobat Standard

    Hi Nawanat,
You cannot install a trial version of Acrobat Std. as it's not available.
The main differences between Acrobat 11 Pro and Std. are http://www.adobe.com/in/products/acrobat/product-comparison.html
You can use the trial version of Pro for 30 days and compare the features you require and those you can afford to miss in the Std. version

  • URL works within Acrobat Standard and and not within Acrobat Reader...

    Hello.
I faced a really strange thing today.  I created a report PDF through Xcelsius.  In this PDF, I have a Flash button which, when clicked, would link to an Excel (.xls) file within our LAN.  The link works within Acrobat Standard 8.0 but not within Acrobat Reader 9.0.  I have examined the preferences on both and they are identical (as far as I can see).
    Details:
    Software used:  Xcelsius 2008 SP1
                           Acrobat Standard 8.0.0
    Link address:   G:\Management\[sub-directory]\[sub-sub-directory]\[filename].xls
Any help at all will be welcomed and appreciated.
    Thank you!

I am trying to open the .xls in Excel through a web browser.   There is no scripting to the link, simply a file:\\ address that would pull up the spreadsheet (with macros) in IE 7 and above.
Addendum:  I uninstalled my Acrobat Reader 9.0 and installed Reader 8.2 and the link worked!  Strange.  I do, however, need it to work in 9.0 as there is a mix of Acrobat Reader versions within the hospital.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard and Pdf Conversion

I am not sure I am in the correct forum, but I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard and I cannot convert existing Word files, for example, to pdf. A message comes up: "PDF Conversion Failed." And that's it. No explanatory message or suggestion how to correct it.
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you!

Try these steps to see if things are working at all. If they work, then it is a process of going one step at a time until the problem is isolated.
    1. Print a simple file to the Adobe PDF printer with print-to-file selected.
    2. Open the file created in (1) in Distiller and see if the conversion completes.
If (2) is unsuccessful, you will get errors in the Distiller window indicating the problem. With success, the next step is to check if AcroTray is running, so simply print without using print-to-file. If it does not work, then look for AcroTray.exe in your Distiller folder. This application must be working if the print to Adobe PDF is to work correctly.

  • Error when upgrading from Acrobat Standard X to Pro X

We are installing retail Acrobat Pro X upgrades over OEM Acrobat Standard X (that came on Dell Optiplex 390 systems). We're getting an error message that says "Setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate." That of course, makes no sense. How do we resolve this so we can install these upgrades? Thanks.

Further, it looks like we're not the only ones having this kind of issue: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4110223 - for whatever it's worth.

  • Color mismatch Windows 8.1 and Acrobat X and XI Pro

I am creating a PDF from Excel 2013 using both Acrobat X and Acrobat XI on my ASUS laptop running Windows 8.1.  Text that is blue in Excel 2013 looks purple both in the PDF and when viewing the uploaded PDF in Internet Explorer.  The text in the PDF looks blue when viewed on other systems running Windows 7, Office 2010 or 2013 and Acrobat X.  On the Windows 8.1 laptop, the colors in the same uploaded PDF also look correct when viewed using Google Chrome.  There appears to be a compatability/color issue with WIndows 8.1 and Acrobat X and XI.  Anyone else run into a similar issue?

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard and Pro - dialog prompt when opening PDF from Internet Explorer 9

    Good morning.
I am having an issue where our ends users that have either Adobe Acrobat X Standard (AAXS) or Adobe Acrobat X Pro (AAXP) cannot open a PDF within Internet Explorer 9 without being prompted by a dialog box to OPEN, SAVE or SAVE AS. Our user that have Adobe Reader X (ARX) only are ok. The ARX users can click on a PDF link within the browser and it will automatically open in a new tab. However, the AAXS and AAXP users will click on that same link, but are then prompted with a dialog box to either OPEN, SAVE or SAVE AS. Has any one else seen this before? We would like it to be so that all users - no matter what Adobe PDF program they are using of the 3 mentioned - can open a PDF link by just clicking on the link and no additional dialog options appear.
The ARX users have the same Internet settings within the Adobe preferences as the AAXS and AAXP users. The check box is checked to have PDFs open within the browser, which they do, but that dialog box always appears for AAXS and AAXP users. Any thoughts?
    Thank you.
