Acrobat 8 Standard installation file?

Hi,
Not sure if it's the right place, but is there a downloadable file to install Acrobat 8 standard (full) somewhere?
we set up a new PC we have to connect to the net and run through the updates.  Problem is sometimes we don't have net access easily available and if I had the actual install file on disk/USB it would save me a lot of issues.
Can someone point me in the right direction if it's avaiolable please.
Thanks in advance.

The install file would be what you have on CD or downloaded from the Adobe Store with the program on it. The updates can be downloaded from Adobe.com>Downloads>updates.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Installation Files

    Hello,
I bought me a new Laptop. At the pre installed configuration there is a license for Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard included.
But there was no installation files.
Can everyone give me a hint where I can find them
    seidi

    Hi,
the installation files are integrated in the recovery procedure and are not stand alone.
It is a Sony Vaio but I expect to get no answer from Sony.
Are there anywhere the installation available at the web because a product key is available

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard Installation Manual

I am trying to do something very simple: Find an installation manual for Acobe Acrobat Standard.
When I go to the Adobe site, here is what I'm trying to do:
Go to Support & Learning -> I Need Help -> Products
    Choose Acrobat
    Click "Acrobat X Standard Help"
Click "Getting Started and Tutorials" (takes me to: http://www.adobe.com/support/acrobat/gettingstarted/)
Click "Downloading, installing, and setting up" (takes me to http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite.html)
Click Acrobat X Pro | Help (takes me to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/index.html)
Click "Getting Started and Tutorials" (takes me to: http://www.adobe.com/support/acrobat/gettingstarted/)
At this point, Step 7 has taken me back to Step 4.
WHERE IN GODS NAME IS AN INSTALLATION MANUAL???
The Adobe site literally takes me around in circles.

This is for a large IT department, and for traceability we need to show that instructions were followed, as provided by the manufacturer/publisher. While I agree that it is "self evident" for the most part, we need to have documentation attesting to decisions such as making Acrobat Standard the default application for users -- what does this mean? Is this for the local user, or is it for all users on the machine? If Acrobat Standard is the default for ".pdf" files, are there any other files (as identified by extension) that it opens by default?  What about PDFMaker/Office integration -- what options are available through the installer for controlling who has access to that? E.g. If we purchase a single license of Acrobat Standard, but it is a shared computer (with independent logins), how do we ensure we are not in violation of licensing?
These are things that should be addressed during installation.
But the fact that this is a paid product, and it doesn't have an installation manual, is the bicker pain in my side right now.

  • I downloaded, saved and ran Acrobat Standard Installer - how do I access the actual Acrobat program?

I put the installer on my laptop but when I go to download Acrobat Standard - I only have an option to download XI Pro - which I do not want. I was excited to be able to test a program free that I hear works well and is affordable.

  • Acrobat Standard v6 and Reader v8 conflict

I have both Acrobat V6 and Reader v8 installed on my PC. I use the full version to create pdfs, and version 8 is used to open pdfs on web pages. For some reason, I am not able to open Acrobat Standard at all. Instead, version 8 reader opens.
If I browse to the Acrobat standard icon in the programs menu, Reader 8 opens. If I browse to the Acrobat standard exe file in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe", version 8 Reader opens.
If I right click on a pdf document and select Open With... and choose Acrobat Standard 6 from the list, the document opens in Reader version 8.
I can't uninstall version 8 from my PC because I don't have administrator authority. I'm seeking help in the forum because our IT support is terrible.

Open the task list and stop AcroRd??. It is a part of Reader that stays resident. You are finding out why it is not recommended to run both the Reader and Acrobat. If you do, you have to learn how to disable the one you do not want and properly associate the file extension - that is your job in your OS.

  • Acrobat Standard vs Pro when using SDK

    Hi,
I'm developing a prototype for a project using the Acrobat SDK. The client will have 13~ licenses for Acrobat standard and NOT Pro. For developing my prototype I downloaded the Acrobat trial which seems to only install the PRO edition and doesn't have the option to install the Standard Edition.
I need to know that the prototype and eventual product that will use the Acrobat SDK will work with the clients' Acrobat Standard installations and NOT require the client to upgrade to Pro.
My question is how can I know that the prototype and eventual product will require only Acrobat Standard and not Pro, since apparently I don't have access to an installation for the Standard edition but only the Pro edition? Is it the case that all the APIs are the same between Standard and Pro?
    Thank you kindly,
    Ben

Provided you don't use any APIs that are only in Pro and not in standard (and the number of those is VERY SMALL) - it will work just fine in Standard.   The documentation will tell you if a given API is Pro only.

  • Anyone that could help me find installation files for Acrobat Standard 8?

I am trying to find and download installation files for Acrobat Standard 8 - I have the serial number - but I can only find the files for the Professional version, unfortunately. Anyone know where I can find for Standard version?
I have used this link but it only gives me the professional version, unfortunately:

I believe there are no downloads available for the older versions of Acrobat Standard.

  • Unable to associate PDF files to Acrobat Standard 7 after latest reader 9 patch

    I am unable to
make PDF files open as Acrobat standard 7 as my default PDF viewer. I have tried to right click open with, more, browse to acrobat standard 7 folder, coose acrobat program, then open. The acorbat standard 7 program never gets listed in the other programs list. I have also deleted the pdf file type extension and browsed over to Acrobat standard 7 folder and chose program and it still opens in Reader 9.  The one bright sopt in all this is I still have the right click open with Acrobat Standard 7 listed.
My users want to just open PDF attachments from outlook without having to save the PDF's first to thier hard drive, open with acrobat standard 7, then save them again, then reattach to to email and foward on with approval stamp. This is on at least 2 machines, an Xp and Vista machine.

    OK Here is my fix.
I reran the Acrobat Standard 7 install from control panel and chose to "Repair" the installation. After rebooting I could just double click on a PDF and it opens up in Acrobat Standard 7.

  • Typical size of Acrobat Standard program installation?

I have Acrobat Standard 9.4.6 installed on my Windows XP machine. (Note that this is Acrobat, NOT the Reader.)
Is it normal or typical that my C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0 folder takes up over 2GB of disk space?
This seems awfully large, especially since my entire C:\Program Files folder is only a bit over 4GB. The Acrobat 9.0 program folder accounts for almost half of that!
My C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Update folder contains over 1000 files with extension RTP (and a few RTP.BAK). Many of the RTP files are over 13MB in size; the Updates folder is 469MB.
(I believe the RTP files are leftovers/backups related to past program updates?)
I can't believe the Acrobat installation needs to be this inefficient with regards to disk space!
I don't mean to be a crank or a troll, but I have searched Adobe's help resources, these forums and the internet, and there is no information on the size of a typical Acrobat installation anywhere.
I know someone knows this!  I can't believe that among millions of Acrobat users no one else is interested in this.
    Thanks for any info.

My Acrobat Pro X is 1.5 GB in size. It hasn't had as many updates to store information into the folder yet. Is 2 GB large yes. However with todays drives 500 GB and larger are typical, I do not think Adobe worries about the ever increasing size of an application with updates. Especially, since they would like you to start with a new version every 18 months to two years.
With the increasing speed of computers and size of hard drives, these concerns don't really worry computer companies. The days of small tight efficient machine code is long gone. It is not cost effective from computer companies to worry about it. Could Adobe write better smaller code, yes. It might cost much more and work on fewer machines and not be compatible with all of the following Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. New versions might take 3 or 4 years to produce. Something that would not make Adobe stockholders happy.
So, yes Adobe could make things more compact, but are you and tens or hundreds of thousands of others willing to pay the price premium it would cost?

    Hi Timothy,
The account cannot be validated error was due to a glitch on our activation server that has been fixed now.
Please try using acrobat now and check if you are still facing the problem.
