Acrobat 9.0 created in Windows, doesn't like Mac?

Hi there, I've created a form for a client with radio button questions (answers in values 1-10) that appear on the last page and produce an overall score.  It works absolutely fine on mine and 4 other computers that are all Windows based, however he is Mac based and is unable to save the answers (though the form is rights enabled) on his form to his desktop to then email onwards, and the answers from the buttons & overall score function doesn't work at all.
I'm at a loss how to fix this, or what I can recommend.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  It may have nothing to do with the Windows-Mac compatibility (technically it shouldn't right?) but it's the only thing I can think of that makes any sense!  Having said that I'm not a hugely experienced Acrobat user so there may just be a button I need to push somewhere!...

It could also be that if he is using Reader, he may not have the MAC equivalent of MAPI running. E-mail submission is often a problem, but I know little about the issues with a MAC and that might be the issue.

    correct.
It appears the options for a similar product are subscription based and my previous versions were purchased outright.
correct, if you want to use on both pc and mac.   but you only want to use on mac, can also upgrade to acrobat xi for mac.

  • Windows doesn't like my partition. Can't proceed with install.

    Hi
I'm trying to install Windows Vista using boot camp. Using the assistant I've created a Windows partition on my second drive (in bay 2), and then followed the install instructions. After entering the product key and accepting the ToR, I'm then presented with a choice of partitions to install Windows, after formatting as per page 11 of the guide, I get the following error message:
"This computers hardware may not support booting to the disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
If I try again, I then get the following:
" Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation".
I can't then proceed and have to quit. I've tried so many times I'm beginning to memorise the product key
What do I need to do to get over this?

Thanks for your reply. Method #2 worked for me, but it did create a little problem in that the Vista HD is showing on my Mac Desktop labeled as "untitled", even though I know I named it Vista HD in both windows and OS X, oddly, the show/hide preferences in Finder only make it disappear if I uncheck the CD, DVD, iPod option NOT the Hard disk option.
    Any ideas?

  • Folders created in Windows not deleting on Mac

    Hello,
I recently moved all my windows data to the Mac. After reorganising, when I tried to delete few folder, they are not getting deleted.
I tried dragging them to the TRASH, they are just lying down there and getting deleted  even when I try the SECURE DELETE option in Mac.
How do I delete these folders/data.
    Ajay.

    Try a re-boot.
If that does not work, try:
Force the Trash to empty using the Option key:
This technique uses a hidden feature of Mac OS X to force the Trash to empty.
Perform the following steps in the order specified:
Press and hold the mouse button on the Trash icon in the Dock. The context menu for Trash will display.
Press and hold the Option key or the Shift-Option keyboard combination,
Select Empty Trash from the context menu for Trash.
Release the keys pressed and held in step 2.

  • Cmd-N to create new window doesn't operate on frontmost app!?

    Hi there
It's second nature for me to cmd-tab to another app, then hit cmd-N to open a new window in the frontmost app.
I notice however in 10.6 that cmd-N doesn't operate on the frontmost application, but rather on the app of a window that my mouse cursor is on.
So if Terminal is the active application with a window open, then I cmd-tab to Safari so that it is frontmost, but my mouse cursor is still over the Terminal window, cmd-N opens a new Terminal window.
Is this the expected behaviour? It feels very wrong.

I just noticed that this is only happening with Terminal - so another app is frontmost but the mouse cursor is over a Terminal window, cmd-N operates on Terminal, NOT the frontmost app.

  • Apple Keyboard in Windows doesn't like External HD

I just bought a new Apple keyboard to use on my native Windows XP Pro machine at work. Note: this is not Windows in Boot Camp; it's a Dell PC.
When I have the apple keyboard plugged in to the USB at the same time my external hard drive is connected, the HD will stop working, and Windows won't recognize it. As soon as I unplug the apple keyboard, the hard drive will be recognized by Windows and will load up normally.
Each peripheral works fine when the other isn't plugged in, but as soon as they're both plugged in, they have a stand off.

Its not normal, stannard, but it is certainly technically possible for this to occur. If the drive draws more current than it should for some reason (ie more than the regular FW specioication) then the port may not be able to provide sufficient. I have seen similar problems mentioned as an issue with bus powered USB devices on some PBs, for example, and it can be common in situations where more than one bus powered device is attached simultaneously on many computers.
You are probably more likely to run into such an issue when running from battery rather than the mains I would think.
Different computers have different abilities in this area, so the fact that the drive won't work on one computer but will on another is not altogether surprising, although it is uncommon, even if everything is working OK. Does the bus powered drive have a power connection option? Some do. It would be interesting to see if it worked when provided with an independent supply.
Have you tried another cable, yet? Cables really can be the bane of your life when it comes to firewire.
Some cable manufacturers actually sell cables that provide a visual indication of power and data availability - see http://www.granitedigital.com/catalog/pg18_firewirecables.htm for example. Worth considering, though I haven't tried them myself.
The article at http://www.wiebetech.com/whitepapers/FireWirePortFailures.php is interesting, by the way. Some of the stuff in http://www.macintouch.com/panfirewire04.html is too.
    Cheers

  • Windows doesn't like my 1 page scrolling site containing some flash. Please

Please would anyone with a PC be kind enough to try my one page scrolling site that I am testing:
    http://angelakane.co.uk/scroll3.html
I am quite keen on the idea of a big one page site that you scroll vertically and horizontally.  I am testing some flash content (3 pages down, 1 & 2 across) which works perfectly well in Safari, Firefox, Opera  but I recently tried it in Explorer after loading Parallels on my mac and it does strange things on the row with the flash.
Most people I know have macs so I don't know whether the problem is with my set up or whether PCs in general will not cope.
Anybody any idea why?  I will take out all the flash if it means PCs are going to have problems.
    Thanks.

Well..I went to your site again today and to be yet honest yet again it is SLOW! I have one off the fastest connections to date (for my line of work) and I lost my patience waiting. With today's standards on speed it was slow. I will also hate to tell you that your idea of such a large one page site is not new. This is why the web is what it is today. Studies have shown that users lose their patience with scrolling which is why you are seeing more and more sites even trying to avoid vertical scrolling. If you look around the web you will also notice that content such as text are also getting narrower within pages...meaning that the users eye does not like to travel long distances west to east while reading text. Shorter lines and longer columns of text are much easier to read...much like a newspaper.
Those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to usability and functionality issues with large one page layouts. I have not even mentioned the issues with mobile devices that it would have (which is the true future for us all web designers).
As far as the new Apple Mouse. Mice have been able horizontal scroll for years so that is nothing new...that is just another case where Apples marketing has made it sound like a fantastic refreshing idea. Just because something can do something does not mean it is good. I have a horizontal scrolling mouse and never use it.
I don't mean to crash your party. The site does look good and I also tested it in IE8 an 7 and seems the flash is ok so I'm not sure of the issue your are having. I think the site would be a much better place in pages.
    Good luck

  • Safari Doesn't like Mac Discussions

I have the curious behaviour that clicking on any link produces a message that Safari can't load information from this page, yet clicking the same link a second time the link works This has been happening the entire time I have been using this forum. I have not asked about it before because it is annoying rather than disastrous.
Additionally I am noticing more and more pages(maybe 1 in 100) that just come up in Safari as a blank page yet work perfectly in any other browser. I have Safari 1.3.2 on 10.3.9 I never had this problem until recent months.
I am starting to think about other browsers, safari seems to be falling behind. Any thoughts?
    Tony

    Hi Tony
the reason for entering dns addresses there is that it may solve your problem. Use the same dns addresses as specified by your isp for the internet connection you use.
Trust us - some installations of osx/safari would not connect to the internet or mail servers At All! if there were no 'optional' dns servers entered. It's quite safe, if it doesn't improve your situation - it's easy to remove them again.
On the face of it - we shouldn't need these optional addresses - but many.many users here & elsewhere have tried exactly what iBod suggested & come back smiling. Do a search on these forums for it - no-one broke anything by trying this... just make sure you enter exactly the right numbers.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Create PDF from Word doesn't start

I have Word 2007 and Acrobat 9 Pro installed on Windows 7. I can print a Word file to PDF, but using Create PDF on the Acrobat toolbar does almost nothing. A dialog opens and asks what to name the file, but when I click Save nothing happens. The PDF Maker doesn't even start.
When I go into Acrobat and try to Create PDF from File and select a Word file, I see a message about "starting" but then I get "An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF."
So I essentially have no PDF and no useful error messages to help me find the source of the problem. I've tried repairing the Acrobat installation, and even uninstalling and re-installing, all to no avail. My IT department has tortured me for a few hours trying all the basic stuff, but nothing has helped. I found this problem description in the Adobe Knowledgebase and I followed the steps there, but still nothing. (Yes, I have my name and initials set in Word's personalization settings. That was a dumb bug, wasn't it?)
Anyone had any ideas? I can create basic PDF by printing, but that doesn't give me a hyperlinked table of contents and other good stuff that I need.
    Thanks for any help!
    Steve

    Hi Bill,
Can you tell me a little more about PDF Maker not working in Word? It worked fine for me on my Windows XP machine with Word 2003 and Acrobat 8 (or maybe 9). It sounds like you've had a different experience. I currently have version 9.3.1, but the updater is running right now to update that. Is there another way to install the updates besides with the built-in updater? I don't seem to have control over the order of the updates when I use it.
I will try turning off features to see what happens. It doesn't look like PDF Maker gets started, though, so I don't know if it's getting far enough to even load the list of what features are on/off.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.4.3 filename prompt dialog window doesn't automatically display

I'm running Acrobat Pro 9.4.3 from CS5 Design Premium on a Windows 7 Pro system. When creating a PDF from any source, the filename dialog window doesn't open. I have to click on its icon in the taskbar to display it.
Acrobat works fine on our XP Pro systems with the filename dialog opening on top of all other windows. Thought it was an OS issue but all the other programs display their prompt windows as they should in.

Yes, I initiated the review. When I initiated the review, I saw a different dialog for entering my username and password. That took my credentials and uploaded the PDF to SharePoint.
I don't remember seeing RSA dialog (see the image I attached to the first post) when I created the review, only when I opened the PDF after the review was generated. At that point, I did select to save the credentials, but it didn't seem to save them (since everytime the dialog appears it is blank).
I had another one of our tech writers test it before sending it to the rest of the team, and he was able to access the review and put in test comments. He never saw the dialog. At that point, I looked at other reviews that I had initiated in the past, and was unable to add comments to those either (at least for the ones that didn't have a deadline). So I am pretty sure it is something that has changed on my system in the last few weeks. Perhaps a Microsoft Security update?

  • Why doesn't Acrobat XI, pdf created in Corel Vetnura 10, print to my Epson Gluntz & Jensen ictp Plat

Why doesn't Acrobat XI, pdf created in Corel Vetnura 10, print to my Epson Gluntz & Jensen ictp Platemaker?

We aren't in a position to provide any reasonable response to this type of open-ended question without significantly more information.
Exactly what symptoms are you seeing? Are you getting a failure message from Acrobat? If so, what? Are you getting a PostScript error at the printer? For that matter, is it PostScript printer of some type? If part of the job prints, what doesn't print?
More information and maybe be can assist you!!

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.0 crashing on Windows Virtual PC 07

    Hello,
We recently started piloting "PC on a stick" devices which utlitize Microsoft Virtual PC 07 as the operating system host. The OS installed is Windows XP Pro SP2. I installed Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard on the virtual operating system, and it went through successfuly. The problem is once we have the application open, whenever we click on the gui buttons on top (Create PDF, Sign, etc), the application completely crashes, with no error messages. In fact, just clicking on any space in the mentioned toolbar closes out the app, even if we dont click on a button.
I went and installed it on another virtual PC, which uses the same base image, and had the same issue. We check in the event viewer, and there is nothing in there related to Adobe. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, ran in repair mode, made sure no other Adobe PDF apps were installed, and installed the latest updates, but still having the same issue. I do not believe this to be an issue with the install files, as I have installed this successfuly on both desktops, and on VMware virtual machines.
If we go into File, or Advanced in the top toolbar, we can do the desired functions without errors or crashing. It appears to be only with the toolbar.
I think the problem may be with the following:
Screen resolution on the virtual PC (we tested different resolution sizes and color qualities)
The base image that is being used on the virtual PC
    Microsoft Virtual PC itself
If anyone has encountered this issue before, or has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it
    Thank you

You are violating the license for your use of the product. It could be that the licensing manager doesn't like it. Remember Acrobat is supposed to be tied to the hardware. You may have a virtual machine, but the hardware it is running may change and be recognized by the software. Don't get me wrong. I use Acrobat 9 under Windows on a Parallels Virtual machine, but it is always run on the same hardware with no issue.
