Acrobat 9.0 opens (downloads) server file in temporary folder

Using Acrobat 9.0 (Windows Sharepoint server environment) to open files stored on the server downloads them into a temporary folder on my local computer. Unfortunately, this means that internal links/bookmarks using relative addressing to other files on the server are misdirected:

I did not experience this behavior with Acrobat 7.0. Is it not possible to open a file in a browser without downloading it? Is there a setting either in Acrobat or Internet Explorer to bypass downloading to my local drive?

As a principal developer in our Sharepoint environment, I routinely used Acrobat 9 Pro to modify documents on our corporate intranet. Other uses, however, accessed the same documents with Reader working entirely within their browser. My workaround has been to re-install Acrobat 7. Documents now open entirely in the browser, and relative links work as before.

My backend is only for admin, so they are the only ones who can access the

Firefox keeps asking me to open/download PHP file when it used to be able to display properly.

I use to be able to view local PHP files normally in Firefox with the PHP parts not rendered while the HTML parts are. Now all it does is ask whether I want to open or save it.
I've tried editing FF options so that it previews in FF but it doesn't accept any changes. I've cleared my cache and all that. I've tried deleting the mimeTypes.rdf file thing but I can't even find the folder it's in. I've tried disabling/enabling "prompts.tab_modal.enabled" in about:config and restarting FF.
All are no-go solutions.
Web PHP pages are loading properly, this problem only comes when I'm trying to load local PHP files. I don't want to install XAMPP or PHP on my computer just to view local files as I never had this problem before.
In the meantime, I've installed Chrome and it's loading a simple local PHP file just fine whereas FF is asking me to save/download when opening the SAME file. Thanks in advance for any help.

Also, on a somewhat related note, I cannot view mozillazine.org and any sub-domains under it in any browsers. This may be happening to other users as well?
It's always stuck at "Waiting for ..." or "Connecting to ..." and that's it. Then FF gives up with a "Server connection time-out" notice. Clearing cache and all that doesn't work because I was trying to view those pages before starting this topic.

Issues opening downloaded docx files from the internet on my mac air...

I have owned my Mac Air for nearly 1.5 yrs and never had an issue, until yestrday.
I can download docx files from the internet no problem, but when I go to open them (after they have saved into my downloads folder) a pop-up window with "convert file from" appears? Alas I can not open any downloaded docx files from the internet/email etc! This is making work very difficult.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

that explains a lot, you didnt mention that critical part before. I upload a lot to FTP sites as well
originals fine.... but thru the server theyre corrupted, .....that narrows everything down.

Opening downloaded pdf files using Adobe instead of in Safari

I prefer to use full-feature Adobe software to view downloaded pdf files instead of Safari. How do I keep Safari from opening them in the browser and instead automatically open Adobe Reader when the search engine finds a pdf file?

I have just installed Adobe Reader 9. I am getting frequent system hangs (cannot do anything without cold re-boot) when using the product, in particular when using forms documents provided by Companies House, a UK government agency.

What happens when you right click on the .doc , select properties, (general tab) and view "opens with"?
There is a change button, then select "other programs".

Problem opening downloaded PDF files

When I click on a PDF link in Safari, I would normally expect the document to open with Acrobat 7.0.
What is happening now, is that the screen changes to 'browse' option asking me to identify which application will open the PDF. When I click on Acrobat 7.0, the screen goes blank.
So, basically, I can't open downloaded PDFs from Safari, (though it's Ok with Opera, Firefox etc)
In the Acrobat prefs, in the internet settings, 'Display PDF in browser using: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional (7.0.0)' is checked.
Mac Power PC, 2G RAM, OSX 10.4.11; Safari 3.2.1, Acrobat 7.0.0

Do you have more that one version of Acrobat or reader loaded?
Only one is certified to work at a time.

Cannot open application server file even if it exists...

If you can convert a .swf file to PDF, you would be able to open it in iBooks.
Apparently those converters do exist.
Google or similar are your friends.

Mac OS X, PSE 6.0 won't open downloaded .asl files

Down loaded fx .asl files, moved them to the Styles fill but I can't get them to open by any path. New brushes, gradients and patterns, all fine.

Hi Gwena, In case of layer styles (unlike brushes) you need to add metadata corresponding to the .asl file you are trying to add. Close PSE6 if opened. Now add your .asl file for style in <system>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/6.0/Locale/en_US/Photo Creations/Layer Styles/ Now you need to add metadata for the asl file you just added. For this, you need to goto <system>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/6.0/Locale/en_US/Photo Creations Metadata/Layer Styles/ Copy paste an existing xml file there(say 'Bevels.xml'). Now open the xml file you just created using Notepad. You will see two places where layer stle name is listed: 'CatBevels' and 'Bevels'. Replace 'Bevels' with the name of your style using exactly the same word structure. For example : 'CatNewStyle' and 'New Style' Save the changes. Now you need to rebuild the MediaDatabase. To do so, goto <system>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/6.0/Locale/en_US and rename MediaDatabase.db3 to MediaDatabaseOLD.db3 Restart PSE6. It will take some time to open as it builds new Contents and Effects. You can find the new style listed with the PSE's default style in Effect pallet now.

Please use "SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems Function" to open downloads and files. You are launching unnecessary copies of explorer. Thankyou.

Automate Batch, open every 3 files in a folder?

I'm doing some work where I mostly do the same things on three files. It's for a game-project and I've got one texture for shadows, one that's the normal diffuse layer and finally one that controls where team-colors go. I've learnt some things about the Actions-tab and can easily open all three files then click F2 and Photosohp CS4 does all the work. Then I simply save the file.
I was checking with the the Automate -> Batch option if I could do this for an entire folder but I've ran out of luck. It's easy enough with the destination, I just add a prefix to the file-name so it doesn't overwrite anything. However as I see it it's only possible to open every file in the folder after each-other. Is there a built-in feature or can I change the Actions a little to help me with this? The Actions I'm doing is mostly "Select Previous Document" etc. when I've got all three files open.
Failing in that is there a plugin or something anyone can recommend? If it helps the file-names are identical except for a "_diffuse", "_occulusion" and "_team" at the end so if there's a plugin or even feature that relies on the file-names that would work too. Otherwise this also means the three files are always after each-other in the same order.

You should look into Scripting for Photoshop (preferably with JavaScript), because what you are describing is not within reach for plain Actions as they can incorporate no conditionals.

Opening a .jpeg-file in a folder with Applescript

I am trying to change the names of .jpeg files into the names of the corresponding music albums in a folder.
As far as my knowledge of Applescript goes, the following script should do the job, but it does not open the .jpeg file, i.e. document 1
