Acrobat 9.3.2 printing hidden fields automatically

We have a few clients internally running Acrobat Standard 9.0.0 and their documents are printing fine. One user upgraded to 9.3.2, and now when they try and print some of our documents, a hidden field area is automatically printing. I can't seem to find a way to turn it off. It doesn't appear in the document, or in print preview. Choosing to Examing the document and remove it removes the text, but not the spacing that the hidden area added. is there a setting to never print this? It's not something we want to have to adjust each time we open a document.

I have a report were i have alot of hidden fields under my real report. My report uses calculations from the hidden fields.
My problem is that when i run the report and export it to for example PDF. It generates 4 pages. 3 of them are empty and the first one is the one i only want to use.
I think this is because i have so meny hidden fields. So can i do something so that the pages with hidden fields do not get exportet?

According to your description, when exporting the report, you don't want to have the hidden fields exported. Right?
In Reporting Services, when we export a report, all the parts in this will be exported including all the hidden report parts. In this scenario, even you cancel the page break and make it together on one page, those hidden fields will still be exported
as blank space in your report. And if there are too many hidden parts, it will exceed the page size and still have blank page in your report. So for your requirement, we suggest you use some function like Lookup(), LookupSet() in expression to do calculation
for other data fields instead of using a lot of hidden fields.

Correct, i don't want them exported. when i generate the report all my required data fits on one page. And then i get three blanks.

AutoMatic Hidden Field Numbering STOP!

Please someone help and please answer back to

Dreamweaver MX to stop adding 2's and 3's to the hidden field
titles paypal has given me. Every time i try to paste more than one
button on the same page i'm building...Dreamweaver adds a number to
the words in the hidden field which makes my buttons not work.
Now my solution so far has been to sit here and delete the
extra numbers from each field of each button...effin annoying! and
I'm about to do a 200+ button site so i need some help. Please tell
me you know what i'm talking about and can help me.

How can you print the hidden text in answer boxes on PDF forms?

I am not sure I understand your question. Are you importing a PDF with Hidden Fields into FormsCentral?
If this is the case FormsCentral ignores hidden fields and doesn't create column in the response table for those.

Trying to print form fields only

I have made a fillable form with LiveCycle Designer, it is a 2 page form that my customer will receive by email, fill out and then feeds into a regular ink jet printer to print off fields onto an already pre-printed page they have in their office (they are basically filling out their name, address, etc contact information to print onto a brochure that is pre-printed) My client will use Acrobat Reader to fill in the form. Does anyone know a way to do this? I have read about making the background non-printable, or non-visible, but my background is an already created PDF that I have imported (with the forms built on top of it in LiveCycle). Doesn't seem to work unless I import it as an EPS.
I also have Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. Is there a different way I should be doing this instead of LiveCycle? I have tried to import the PDF background as an EPS, but the quality makes it really bad and I want the professional quality of the pdf that I already have built, as I have 10 of these to do and the PDFs are already done.
I have been trying to work this out for 2 weeks and still not getting anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK I am back at the desk.
I have checked the help files for Acrobat 8 Pro and Acrobat 9 Pro and it appears that the ability to "import as a layer" was added in version 9. Sorry.
You can check out the help file here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/8.0/Professional/index.html and go to Editing PDFs > Layers.
If the original PDF was generated from InDesign you may still be able to get the layers into the PDF: Help file
"To retain layers when you convert InDesign CS or later documents to PDF, make sure that Compatibility is set to Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5) and that Create Acrobat Layers is selected in the Export PDF dialog box"
The last thing I can suggest (and I believe you can do this in Acrobat 8) is to start off with the blank PDF and from the Forms menu add a button to the page.
Resize the button to the full page and then right click on the button and get its properties.
The screen shots should look similar to v8. I am just going to highlight some of the setting you should set for the background button.
In particular make sure that the button behaviour is set to NONE in the Options tab.

Hidden fields does not appear as usual???

My form does not work today as it used to...
I have show/hide fields on certain values, and it does not work today.
The hidden fields should appear when I choose anything else then "other" from the dropbox.
Could someone please take a look at my form, please?
it's important that my forms is up and running.

PDF Form not printing all field/letters properly.

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I recently created a PDF Form to be filled out when setting up an new customer at my job.
After filling out the form one of my co-workers is experiancing an issue when printing. Anytime he has two or more of the same letters in a field, they do not print.
(For example)
[email protected] will print as Je @aol.com and will just pring our a blank field.
Just for fun we tried to pring [email protected] and all we got was " @aol.com".
This seems to only happen on one pirinter and from my one coleagues computer, no one else.
Any ideas?
I did update his Acrobat to the most recent version and restarted the computer but we still have the same issues.

If it only acts up with the one printer. Then it’s a Print Driver Issue. Or some strange Printer problems that can be fixed by:
Quiting the application your using with the printer
Next Unplug Printer.
IF wired Printer (SCSI, Serial, Parallel, USB, Thunderbolt) unplug computer that comes from Computer
Leave everything unpluged for 2 minutes or more.
Plug Power to Printer back in first
Next Plug cable from Printer to computer in
Turn power on to Printer
Open Application
Try to print Document.
If prints okay your done.
If it doesn't Print, obtain the latest Print Drive from Manufacturer
Remove the old driver from computer first.
quit all apps and restart computer before installing new Driver
Install New driver.
Now try to print.
If prints okay your done. If not there is an issue with Acrobat.
Yes a Printer can work with 500 of your applications, and utilities, and not work with a particular application. (Usually a conflict.)
For example Adobe (Acrobat) has a very rich history of conflict with Print Drivers from HP. At time in the past It seemed like a Contest Adobe had seeing how fast they could change something Acrobat/Reader to conflict with HP Deskjet Printers, as soon as HP fixed an issue Hp would change something with a week or two.
Another issue can be be font. Perhaps a Font used in the form is not on the computer that is acting up.

Printing form fields only on Reader

Before I get to the meat, a little background. We are in the process of converting all of our forms into PDFs so to keep everything the same across the company. My company is a contract packager, and we ship out many items. We have purchased forms for Bills of Lading and Packing slips that have duplicate copies for the back.
We would like to be able to scan the form into the computer, and create a PDF with text fields to type in the information, but then only print the form field data. Basically, I want the form to show up on the computer screen but only print the data that's entered. With Acrobat, I can select in the printer box to print form fields only, but when I put the form on the system and tried it on a computer that only has Reader it doesn't give me the option of printing the fields only. (I'm the only computer that has and uses Acrobat).
I'm not a programmer of any sorts, but is there a way to have Reader do what I want it to?

My solution for this is simple
In Adobe Pro, go to menu bar in:
Documente-->
Backgroup-->
Add and Replace or Update
in Apperance select
Apperance Options
remove the check for "SHOW WHEN PRINTING"
This solved the problem to print forms with background in your company.

Print form fields ONLY in Adobe Reader XI.

I created a form in LiveCycle for use by an admin (who only has Adobe Reader, not Acrobat) to print checks. I want to print form fields ONLY.
Is there a way to do this?

Best to ask in the Acrobat Forum. I'm pretty sure it's a parameter set up when the form is created. Reader only interprets data based on the saved settings.

Identifying form fields automatically when word doc is imported

I am trying to convert a word document template to a PDF template using Adobe Live Cycle. There are 7 tables in the Word document. I saved the doc as PDF using Word. When i imported the PDF into the Live Cycle Designer, the form fields ( table rows and cells) are not being identified. All are kind of static text.
However, when i opened the same PDF in Acrobat Pro, i was able to identify the form fields ( using Form > edit fields option).
Is there something similar available in Live Cycle Designer. Can the LCD identify form fields automatically.

I don't believe this functionality is built into LiveCycle Designer. However, you can start your form in Acrobat (Acroform) then import the PDF into LiveCycle. Keep in mind this is a one way process.

The idea of re-sorting multiple pages so they appear in the correct order when printed on saddle-stitched or stapled pager is called imposition. Neither Adobe Reader nor Adobe Acrobat will do it for you automatically.
Often if your printer has double-sided capability the manufacturer's driver software will have an option that handles imposition for you. If so it can be accessed through the Advanced button on the print dialog and that would work in both Reader and Acrobat just the same.
Failing that, using Acrobat there are two options - either rearrange the pages by hand (drag and drop in the page navigation sidebar) or use a plugin such as Quite Imposing that will also handle things like margin adjustments and rotating pages to fit portrait<>landscape etc.

How do I insert the current date to hidden field?

I have a form for updating personal information. There is a field in the table called "dateupdated" that I would like to have on the form as a hiddent field that will automatically get the latest date (now).
Any idea's how I can set the hiddden field to current date?

You don't need a hidden field to do that. Depending on the database you're using, you can either use a TIMESTAMP column (in MySQL) that is automatically updated, or you can use a SQL function to insert the current date.
For example, in PHP, you can use NOW() like this in a SQL query:
$insertSQL = sprintf("INSERT INTO date_test (created, message) VALUES (NOW(), %s)",
GetSQLValueString($_POST['message'], "text"));

Update Date field automatically

When a user is adding a new entry I want two of the fields in the table to be automatically updated without the user knowing (hidden fields), I want a current date and time to be entered into the Updated Date field and the :APP_USER to be entered into the Updated_by VARCHAR2 field.
How do I go about doing this can I just put code to do so into the source of ITEMS or do I have to create a process?

Problem reading hidden fields

We have a problem with OC4J. Our web application is working perfectly fine on other application servers, such as Tomcat, but when running it on OC4J we experience some weird behavior.
We have a HttpServlet which handles the request and prints out the response, which contains a form with some hidden input fields.
What seems to be the problem is that these hidden fields don't seem to be included when the form is being submitted the first time, it behaves the same way as if we had open the window from the link once again, the hidden fields we set in the first request are empty. However, if I submit the form a second time, it works fine and the HttpServlet reads the hidden fields correctly.
I'm not sure whether it is a matter of an error in our web application, or a wrong configuration of the application server.
I hope someone understand and can help me with this, as I'm about to go mad...

We think the problem is related to a difference between the tomcat and oracle api, and it seems like a bug in Oracle application server 10.1.2.0.0.
The request.getParamaterMap() method seems to behave differently. This method always returned the correct paramater map when running on tomcat, while it happened to be empty many times on the oracle app server. Is this a known problem for Oracle app server?
A work-around for us was to make use of the request.getParameterNames(), and then iterate through the names and get them manually with request.getParameter(attributeName). This way we always got the correct parameters.

Print Live Fields Only in Reader

Does anyone know how you can print "live fields only" in Reader?
I want my clients to open up a form (either created in LiveCycle or Acrobat 8 Pro), be able to fill out the fields and then print ONLY the fields they filled in, into a pre-printed brochure through their ink jet printers at home. (Basically they are filling our their own contact information to be printed on a brochure)
I can seem to find an option to print like this in Reader.

Unfortunately I don't get this option in Reader, only in Acrobat. My clients will be using Reader to fill out form and print. I guess I am going to have to create something different in Acrobat, so that the clients won't have to worry about not having that option in Reader.
