Acrobat 9.4.2 hangs on name changes when "file as"

Running Windows 7, 64 bit. If I accept the filename, all works well. If i click in the name to modify it, computer hangs. If I wait long enough (I think) it finally works, but takes MINUTES.

Success:
Working now for 7h (OK, for about 2h the PC could be left alone) the problem has been solved:
Two more attempts to start with Acro 9.3 version from the CS5 DVD and then update to 9.4.2 in one step were not successful. Thw shortcut to bypass three minor levels (.0 to .3) turned out to become a lengthy detour!
In addition, FrameMaker had no idea about Acrobat and hence Save As PDF did not work.
Then decided not only to uninstall Acrobat, but also to remove the Acrobat folder (as Bil@VT suggest in the mean time - but I did not look at the e-mails yet now).
Start with the installation of Acro 9.0 from the TCS2 DVD: everything OK, setup of the various preferences and the Adobe Acrobat printer settings. FrameMaker knows about Acrobat now.
Update to 9.2 and check: still all OK.
Update to 9.4.2 and check: the preferences were still OK, but the Adobe Acrobat printer settings had to be re-established.
The only preference which is not persistant is Units & Guides > Page & Ruler Units: cm. This always falls back to inches, because I use the englisch UI. It sticks to mm when using the German UI. Adobe has never heard that metric units are common also in english speaking countries (well CH is not...)
Well, this evening I will have a glass of wine or two.

  • Why didn't my iCloud account name change when I changed my Apple ID?

    Why didn't my iCloud account name change when I changed my Apple ID (because I got a new email address)?

    It doesn't change on your device automatically.  To change the iCloud ID on an iOS device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
    To change the ID on your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the new ID.

  • Why does the PDFs' name change when i view them in the iBooks app?

    i have some past papers and marking schemes in my iTunes library....when i sync them to my iPad, they appear just fine....they are there just the way i named them and all...
    but when i open them, the name changes to some coded-ish name with lots of numbers and all that....
    is it possible for me to change some setting and save the name i want for those PDFs? Or am I going to have to live with this madness?
    please help!

    Hello, I wanted to follow up on this issue after reviewing some of the changes with the current update. [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1049521] This bug addressed some Windows HKEYs that are changed when Firefox is updated/or installed.
    As an update, a patch has been made and changes are on the way for fresh installs of Firefox :-)

  • File name changes when I sync videos

    As title says, when ever I load a video into my 3Gs Iphone the file name changes to a numerical one.
    How do I keep the original file name?
    As it is I can only sync 1 video at a time then rename it before adding another.

    Oops, Just realised I put this n the wrong forum. Just to clarify this is prerecorded video files.

  • Saving/exporting issue in Windows 7-file name changes when trying to navigate

    I just got Windows 7 on my computer and am running ID CS5. The weirdest problem happens when I try to save as or export a file. The dialog box comes up and normally, I would be able to select a folder I want to navigate to just by typing the folder name, but what is happening is that the first letter goes to a folder, but upon typing the second letter, it starts changing the name of my file.
    So for example, I am saving a file ABC.indd and I go to navigate to save it in a folder called Project XYZ. When I type in "P" to get to that folder name, it jumps right to the first folder starting with P. However, upon typing "r" my file name changes from ABC.indd to "r.indd." If I kept typing, it would become "roject XYZ.PDF."
    This happens when saving as a file or if I am exporting a PDF. Our entire marketing department or 6 people was recently upgraded from XP to 7 and we all have this problem in ID. This does not happen in Illustrator or Photoshop and it has our IT department baffled. It is driving us crazy though because we make dozens of files a day and now have to manually scroll through long file structures when exporting PDFs, which is so time consuming, not to mention aggravating.
    In searching for this problem, I found another poster on a different website who has the same issue, but no one had any suggestions.

    Tell whomever is emailing the file to zip it first.

  • The arguments' name change when I re-import the model

    Hello
    Some times, when I re-import Java bean model in developer studio (SAP NetWeaver 7.1 Composition Environment SP06 PAT0001), the arguments' name change to arg0, arg1u2026.
    For example:
    I have some method in the EJB model, such:
    public String getCustomerName( String customerId);
    Some times the reimport is ok, but some times the reimport changes the arguments' name, like:
    public String getCustomerName( String arg0);
    What are Iu2019m doing wrong?
    Regards
    Janeth

    Hi everybody,
    i have the same problem. i also tried to reimport different ejbs into different wd-projects. allways the same problem. and i didn't found a workaround for this.
    i also deleted the model and made a complete new import. same result.
    i also created a new fresh web-dynpro dc  and created a new model there, also same result.
    I assume that it maybee has something to do with an nwds-update i made last week (so between last model-import and new model-import).
    does anybody has a solution for this so far?
    regards

  • File names changed when imported into iphoto

    I scanned thousands of photos and slides. I named them numerically with year and order it was taken (example for 102nd photo taken in 1984 is 84.102.jpg) I used Photoshop's file info to add a description on maybe 20% of the photos. Unfortunately, when I imported into iphoto, iphoto uses this information for the photo's file name. Is there a way to import photos into iphoto where it uses only the original files name and not embedded file info?

    The ones that (on the originals) I entered descriptive things into Photoshop's XMP file info's document title line -- well that is what is shown as the name of the file rather than its real numerical name. Example: on a photo saved as 92
    iPhoto uses the Exif and IPTC metadata for the photo information. When you typed "Big Snowstorm" in there you put it in the Title field. iPhoto is showing you the Title of the photo. It only shows you the Filename if there is no entry in the Title field. Had you put it in the Caption field you would not have this problem.
    Try remove the title, see if that works.
    Another commend: This format of filename
    92.133.jpg
    Is potentially very dangerous. Computers use the period to distinguish the filename from the suffix that tells your machine what the type of file it is. Currently, you're telling your machine that this is file 92, of the type 133 and also the type jpeg. Characters such as periods, slashes, dashes should eb avoided in filenames. Sooner or later your file naming convention is going to cause you problems.

  • JFileChooser's approve button text changes when file

    I have a JFileChooser used for loading some XML file(s). We want the approve button's text to be "Load". When I bring up the dialog, the button text initially reads "Load", when I select a directory, it reads "Open", if I select a file again, it goes back to "Load". So far, so good.
    The problem comes when using it in a non-English language. When I bring up the dialog, the button text initially reads the appropriately translated "Load". However, when I select a directory, it changes to the English "Open". I do not see a method to use to adjust this text. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Jamie

    Here's some code I'll put into the public domain:
    package com.graphbuilder.desktop;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.util.Stack;
    import java.util.Vector;
    import java.util.StringTokenizer;
    import java.io.File;
    <p>Attempt to improve the behaviour of the JFileChooser.  Anyone who has used the
    the JFileChooser will probably remember that it lacks several useful features.
    The following features have been added:
    <ul>
    <li>Double click to choose a file</li>
    <li>Enter key to choose a file after typing the filename</li>
    <li>Enter key to change to a different directory after typing the filename</li>
    <li>Automatic rescanning of directories</li>
    <li>A getSelectedFiles method that returns the correct selected files</li>
    <li>Escape key cancels the dialog</li>
    <li>Access to common GUI components, such as the OK and Cancel buttons</li>
    <li>Removal of the useless Update and Help buttons in Motif L&F</li>
    </ul>
    <p>There are a lot more features that could be added to make the JFileChooser more
    user friendly.  For example, a drop-down combo-box as the user is typing the name of
    the file, a list of currently visited directories, user specified file filtering, etc.
    <p>The look and feels supported are Metal, Window and Motif.  Each look and feel
    puts the OK and Cancel buttons in different locations and unfortunately the JFileChooser
    doesn't provide direct access to them.  Thus, for each look-and-feel the buttons must
    be found.
    <p>The following are known issues:  Rescanning doesn't work when in Motif L&F.  Some
    L&Fs have components that don't become available until the user clicks a button.  For
    example, the Metal L&F has a JTable but only when viewing in details mode.  The double
    click to choose a file does not work in details mode.  There are probably more unknown
    issues, but the changes made so far should make the JFileChooser easier to use.

  • Contacts showing Name and Company Name, even when 'file as' is the name only

    We are running into a strange issue someone may provide some light on, I've researched quite a bit online with no success, and may soon be calling Microsoft on this one. Sometime earlier this year we installed Exchange 2010 Update rollup 4, then UR5, after
    that when you create new contacts in outlook 2010, no matter how you choose to 'file as', when you pull up the contact in the address book it always contains the company name after the persons name. It doesn't seem to matter how you file the contact, it always
    appears with the company name in the name field in the address book (and therefore pulls that into any mail merge).
    anyone else run into this issue or know how to fix it? I included screenshots below....
    thanks for your help all.
    here is the contact in address book, showing company name no matter how its filed.

    Hi,
    I can reproduce the same issue here. Here is what I did to fix this:
    1. Open a problematic contact.
    2. In the Full Name field, type a space and then click Save & Close button.
    3. Now, go to Address Book, you will find that the company name is removed.
    Based on my deep research, I find a macro can be used to update the Full Name info, when I run the macro, the company name is removed from all problematic contacts in Address Book. See the code sample:
    Sub UpdateContactFullName()
    Dim FileAsFormat As String
    Dim CurrentFolder As Outlook.Folder
    Dim objItem As Object
    Dim objItems As Object
    Dim objContact As Outlook.ContactItem
    Set CurrentFolder = Application.ActiveExplorer.CurrentFolder
    If CurrentFolder.DefaultItemType = Outlook.olContactItem Then
    Result = MsgBox("Update the Full Name field for all " & _
    "your contacts according to your default " & _
    "Full Name settings in Outlook?", _
    vbQuestion + vbYesNo, "Update Full Name field")
    If Result = vbYes Then
    Set objItems = CurrentFolder.Items
    For Each objItem In objItems
    If objItem.Class = Outlook.olContact Then
    Set objContact = objItem
    'We need to touch something in one of the name
    'field to force a rewrite of the Full Name field
    'according to the default Full Name settings.
    objContact.FirstName = objContact.FirstName
    objContact.Save
    End If
    Next
    Result = MsgBox("Finished updating the Full Name format of all contacts." _
    , vbInformation, "Done!")
    End If
    Else
    Result = MsgBox("Please select a Contacts folder." _

  • Domain name changes when sent to external mail ids

    Here's the problem...
    We are sending PO's as pdf's to the vendor..
    If the vendor domain name is vendor.com and mine is company.com.
    SAP sends a mail
    To [email protected] ;[email protected]
    CC : [email protected]
    When the mail reaches the vendor it shows as
    To [email protected] ;[email protected]
    CC : [email protected]
    the domain name of person2 gets changed though person2 does get the mail...and when the purchase manager at the company looks at it in his inbox - it looks as it should be.
    I checked SOST it shows the correct mail id.This is not specific to a particular domain occurs with all domains .
    Has anyone encountered such a problem before.
    Regards
    Rani

    Hello Navjot,
    if you have some basis background you can check TCode SCOT there you can see if the mail connect for external mails is configured correctly. There shoud be at least a node for SMTP communication. If there is such node check that sending s not restricted to certain adresses. Furthermore you could check over the menu if the default domain is set properly.
    Kind Regards

  • Parameter names change when generating web service from WSDL

    Hi,
    I have a problem with BEAs web services that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
    I have a
    WSDL file, and from that I want to generate a web service implementation and a
    web service
    client. In the WSDL file, I have a message defined like this:
    <message name="someRequest">
    <part xmlns:partns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" type="partns:base64Binary"
    name="data"/>
    </message>
    I generate the server using the server using the wsdl2service Ant task, I implement
    the necessary classes, and I deploy it. When I access the deployed web service,
    the parameter name has changed, from "data" to "bytes". If I access the WSDL file
    of the deployed web service, it says:
    <message name="someRequest">
    <part xmlns:partns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" type="partns:base64Binary"
    name="bytes"/>
    </message>
    This happens for all parameters, string parameters are renamed to "string", base64Binary
    parameters are renamed to "bytes", etc...
    This poses a problem to me, because if I generate a web service client from the
    original WSDL file, it will not be able to talk to my web service. Is there any
    way of forcing a web service generated from a WSDL file to keep the parameter
    names of the original WSDL file?
    Any help in this is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Petter

    From a quick look of your WSDL, it seams that you are mixing document-literal-bare and document-literal-wrapped flavor of web services. WSA may be able to do a better job at working around this mixed flavors than JDeveloper.
    If you have hand crafted this WSDL, I would recomend that you spend some time looking at the way WSDL are generated, with the java-first mode (or bottom-up), then author the WSDL you need for the final service.
    Here are sample of bare-style :
    <xsd:element name="getPupilAddressResponse" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="getPupilAddressRequest" type="xsd:int"/>
    Wrapped will looks like that:
    <xsd:element name="getSENLevelResponse">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="1">
    <xsd:element name="LevelDetails" type="tns:SENLevelRecord"/>
    <xsd:element name="RecordCount" type="xsd:int">
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    Hope this helps,
    Eric

  • File name changes when I click on another file.

    Regardless of which application I'm in (CS2, Quark etc.... When I go to save a file, if I accidentally click on a grayed out file while I'm navigating to the folder where I want the file to be saved, the file I'm trying to save assumes the grayed out files name. I assumed this was a bug with OSX and Apple would fix it but now that we're up to 10.4.5 I'm dumbfounded.

    That's not a bug, it's a feature.
    Seriously, it's intentional. It could be that they made that change at the request of many Windows switchers, or it just came along with the BSD version of Unix that OS X is built on top of. Either way, it's part of OS X. You need to be careful not to click on a file name in the save dialogue.
    For long time users os OS 9 and earlier, this is a headache, as you never had to watch for that before. But once you get used to it, it's actually very handy at times.

  • Automatic name changes and file and path name limitation when storing files

    Dear all I am using Airport Extrem with an attached disc and experience following:
    1) Names get changed. Second part of file name gets replaced with some hex numbering
    2) Get the error message from time to time that file can't be stored on the Airport Extrem attached disc and that the file name is too long.
    Any idea.

    I've got the same problem with seagate 750 GB drive - Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - over fast ethernet (first gen) AEBS(n)
    P.S.- sometimes the folder names get corrected automaticaly, and sometimes folders get duplicated (with different corrupted hex-like name endings) and if I delete one of them, they all vanishes.

  • Computer Name changes when waking from sleep

    Hi,
    I'm running OS X Lion Server on a Mac Mini 2ghz Core 2 Duo and every time it wakes from sleep I get a message saying "There is already a computer on the network named MacServer, renaming to MacServer (2)".
    It only happens when waking from sleep.  If I reboot or use the mini for hours without sleeping it's fine, but once it's gone to sleep it renames on wake.  When it sleeps overnight it's named MacServer (5) by the morning, as it wakes up every two hours or so to re-register itself on the network and each time it renames itself.
    I don't have any other compters on the network with the same name.  The only other computer is a MBP and has a completly different name.
    Here's my setup;
    My Mac Mini is wired via ethernet to a Time Capsule.  AirPort is turned off (I've tried on and off).
    My Mac Mini has a static IP address (x.x.x.40) with DHCP for everything else (DNS, etc.)
    The Time Capsule is wired to an ADSL router via ethernet.
    The ADSL router manages DHCP and NAT, with IP pool x.x.x.2 through x.x.x.30.
    DHCP and NAT are turned off on the Time Capsule (bridged mode).
    Wireless is turned off on the ADSL router.
    Time Capsule is handling wireless.
    I've tried resetting the ADSL router.  I've tried resetting the Time Capsule (to factory defaults).
    The problem seems to be with mDNSResponder, as the log seems to suggest that it is this daemon that thinks there's a duplicate computer name.  I've even looked at the source code for mDNSResponder and the last mod-log entry suggests that a fix was put in for this issue in 2009.  It doesn't look like it's fixed it, though.
    I've tried doing a fresh install of OS Server several times now and, after the last install, it started happening before I got a chance to restore from a Time Machine backup.  i.e. on a completly fresh install and assigning a completely new computer name.
    Can anyone help me on this issue?  It's driving me insane!

    I switched the server's WI-FI off and connected the ethernet cable to the ADSL router instead of the Time Capsule and, after several reboots, sleeps and wakes, there was no change to the server name.  The Time Capsule was still switched on, connected to the ADSL router via ethernet, and available on the network, however the server rename issue went away.
    I then took the ethernet cable out of the ADSL router, plugged it back into the Time Capssule, put it to sleep, woke it up, and guess what?  That right; 'The name of your computer "safserver" is already...renamed to "safserver (2)"'
    So, it looks like it's the Time Capsule.  I'm going to downgrade the firmware from 7.6.1 to 7.6.0 to see if the last update is responsible.  If this doesn't cure it, I'll try older firmwares and, if none of them work it's time for a Genius appointment.
    (I khow another obvious question lurks:  "why not leave it plugged into the ADSL router?"  Answer: "ADSL router doesn't supply Gigabit ethernet.")

    I have define report title to be "expense report" in Grr3(both short/middle/long text), but when I execute it, I assigned it to one report group, in GR53, I found the report name is changed to "cash flow report", even I removed it and insert again, it still be cash flow report,,
    The report result is fine, only the report title got this problem, anyone can solve it?

    1.Use transaction code: GRR2.
    2.Double click on the report
    3. Click on Extras,  Report Texts and then Select Headers
    4. Define your report title under headers.
