Acrobat 9.4 Crashes, Need Help Diagnosing Problem

I'm running Acrobat 9 Standard (9.4.4 ) on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit Service Pack 1. When I choose the File --> "Create PDF Portfolio" menu option in Acrobat I get: "Adobe Acrobat 9.4 has stopped working". Acrobat works fine for just reading PDFs, but it crashes when I try to use "Create PDF Portfolio". I would like to be able to use Portfolios so I'm looking for help in resolving this issue. So far I have:
1.] Googled, looking for others that have reported the same problem. Which was fruitless.
2.] Tried using the Help -> "Repair Acrobat Installation" option. This reinstalled Acrobat, but the problem still existed after the reinstallation.
I'm wondering what log file I might look in to get more information pertaining to the crash when I get "Adobe Acrobat 9.4 has stopped working".

I don't have a solution but will add that I have the same problem with Acrobat Pro 9.4.5. I had the problem with my previous XP Professional laptop with 9.4.5 and continue to have the same problem with a new Windows 7 laptop I got two months ago.
With my new laptop I was able to use Create Portfolio one time on the first day I had my new laptop, with Acrobat freshly installed. Next day I got the error message. Had a local admin uninstall and reinstall Acrobat Pro and it worked that day. Next day I got the error message again. Haven't bothered with Portfolios since then.

I need help diagnosing why my Macbook pro is crashing my internet?

Hi, I need help diagnosing a problem with my macbook pro early 2011. For the past two weeks all of a sudden my internet was crashing and really slow. Finally I was getting so fed up I called my internet provider and we ruled out that it isnt the cable modem or router. When I turned my macbook off everything was working fine and all my tablets and apple TV was streaming fine with the speeds I pay for. I've already went to the genius bar and they did a clean install of maverick. After the clean install the internet worked for one day and the next day when I got home at night it stopped working. Went to the genius bar once more and took my router and the problem was encountering the same at the store we reseted the router and everything worked fine again. When I got home I reseted the router setup up with new ssisd and same problem internet crashing. Finally I decided to make another account and the internet was working fine again. Before going to my second trip to the genius bar I made a second account which was working good with good internet speeds, but I still decided to go in cause I don't want to have to have multiple accounts since I'm the only user. Right now the only way the internet isn't crashing is using another account rather than the administer account. Please help cause I've already went to the apple store twice and feel like I'm at the end of the road and never going to fix the problem

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

I have created an apple id with a credit card. When I download a free app, I am asked for my apple id password. I am not asked for a credit card. There is a setting for login out of your apple id. Perhaps you should log out. So things get reset.

just wondering if there are any signs that indicate my Powerbook is slowly dying... it's been slowing down noticeably even with only one app running on a fresh restart

I'm betting it's your Cisco hardware and its software driver. The driver is reported as com.cisco.nke.ipsec. I don't know what the actual driver file is called, but I would look in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder for any drivers with "cisco" in the filename. Select the item(s) then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select "Move to Trash" from the contextual menu. Do not empty the Trash as you don't want to actually erase the item(s). Shutdown and disconnect and Cisco hardware. If there is a Cisco application involved be sure it will not launch automatically at startup. Reboot the computer. If your kernel panics cease you will need to contact Cisco about upgrades that are compatible. It could also be an incompatibility between the Cisco driver and one of the other third-party drivers that are in the Extensions folder and listed in your report:

Safari Crashing Issue - Need Help Diagnosing/Solving

When i use safari, it randomly crashes,
i am not sure of the patterns and i previously thought it was the flash player. i reinstalled that and it kept happening.
so i was wondering what i could do it fix it, like maybe reinstall safari alltogether
(i have the "cooliris" plugin and a plugin called "inquisitor" which changed the search bar theme to blackish if this helps)

I have had this same problem.
It has been occurring ever since I updated from the Safari 4 Public Beta to the official Safari 4. I even updated the other day to Safari 4.1--but it still hangs and crashes.
I have been sending error reports only half the time it occurs. Usually I can't get past two pages, and it will hang on a page that has a lot of flash or java content--which I thought they had said if there was a problem with plugins in Safari 4, only the plugin would crash instead of the whole application. It seems to be the other way around, unfortunately.
I wish I had Time Machine set up so I could just roll back to the beta version and not deal with it, but I don't have an external drive to do that with.
Funny thing is, I run Windows Vista Business in Parallels--and I have to go to Windows to fix my Mac problem. Isn't this supposed to be the other way around? Haha, it's Vista nonetheless!

Problem with iBook powering on... Need help diagnosing please

So for awhile my iBook G3 (dual USB, 700 mhz, 12" display) when the power is pressed the computer chimes and the hard drive will start spinning and then nothing happens. After a few seconds I can hear the drive stop spinning and the only sign of power is that the keyboard will light at the caps lock key.
I tried doing a PMU/PRAM reset and the iBook did a long beep noise, then the hardrive started spinning, then power light started flickering, and than it chimed and that's it.
Not sure what to do with it. I love this computer, and all though it's older and well out of date, it's ultra compact and worked great for wireless internet surfing when away from home. I'd appreciate any help to help figure out what this problem is and if it's worth paying to get it fixed or to replace it.

First, check out the Apple Knowledge Base article on troubleshooting portables that won't turn on or start up to see if something there helps.
It sounds like you may be having logic board problems. Enough Dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from the logic board problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Check out the FAQ page and if the symptoms look familiar and it is not past the three-year time limit, give Apple a call.
You can find the original purchase date of the iBook, by entering its serial number into the box at the bottom of Apple's main support page under "About Your Support Coverage."
If it is past the three-year time limit (and it probably is), you may want to consider trying the shim fix suggested by John Sawyer in the Apple Discussions iBook G3 (Dual USB) Displays Forum:
[Y]ou can often fix this yourself by removing the iBook's bottom housing, and placing a shim of any sort, about 1mm to 1.5mm thick, onto the raised square on the bottom shield. I use a Scotch mounting square--you can get them in hardware stores and many grocery stores. When you reinstall the bottom case, it will press against this shim, which will press against the graphics chip, and may allow the chip to come into better contact with the logic board.

If the shim fix doesn't work (or you're leery of trying it), DT & T Computer Services in Fremont, California offers the cheapest repair I've found. They have a six-month warranty on the repair.
Once you get it fixed, try never to pick it up by the left front corner alone. The theory is that picking it up by the left front corner alone can contribute to logic board failure when the case flexes, causing the graphics chip to come loose from the logic board. If you're picking it up in your left hand (as I often do mine), pick it up in the center under the trackpad.
If you can't manage to get it fixed free or on your own with the shim fix, I almost think it's a better idea to put the money you would spend on a repair toward a new MacBook. They are such a spectacular upgrade over the iBook G3. Hard drive specs, USB 2.0, RAM, processor, Tiger, the newest version of iLife, built-in AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth capabilities, and built-in iSight camera. If you can afford it, that may be the way to go. With a new MacBook, you have the option of using Migration Assistant to transfer your data to the new computer, but that likely won't work if you can't get the iBook to start up at all. However, with a new Mac, you may be able to retrieve some of your data using FireWire Target Disk Mode.

Need help diagnosing a problem, please.

I made a small change in content to one of my pages, like I
have a hundred times before, and all seemed well. A couple hrs
later, I opened the same file to make another change (always in
"design" view) and there's nothing there but a blank page. When I
move the cursor around, it's a circle with line through it, as if
it's in a locked area. However, everything seems to be there in
"code" view.

Any ideas how I can fix this issue?
Also, another strange thing that may or may not be related is
that in Firefox, links that aren't supposed to be underlined are
underlined (Cascade Designs & Gossamer Gear in the 4th &
6th paragraphs). However, in IE7, the links are as they are
supposed to be.

Browsing your code, I can see you have a lot of mismatched
tags. Generally using embedded tables is just a really bad idea,

Random wireless crashes ( need help urgently)

Hi, I'm using a WRT54GSv4 router and I have two computer connected to it. One pc is connected by wire and the other computer ( IBM t60p labtop, integrated Intel Pro/wireless 3945abg, running MS Vista OS ) by wireless. the wired one is working flawlessly, although the laptop has some serious connectivity issues. The thing is, that the laptop sometimes ( well, rather often ) looses the wireless connection and cannot connect unless I restart the router, but after 3 minutes or so, it disconnects again and again. I'm not sure if this is the issue, but it seems as if the wireless starts crashing if the wired computer starts to eat up more or the internet connection. I had the same problem with my previous laptop ( IBM T41 ( I think ) too. And if i disconnect my pc, wireless problems seem to disapear (sometimes). I'm getting kinda desperate.

Give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you use "linksys", your computer might try to connect to your neighbor's network, and this can cause network slowdowns, and sometimes disconnections.
Also, make sure you have the latest driver for your Intel wireless card.
Windows XP has WZC (Windows wireless zero configuration). (I don't know if Vista has this.) You cannot use both WZC and the Intel wireless configuration software at the same time. You must use one or the other. Turn one off, then try the other one. If you try to use both at the same time, you will have connection problems.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".

Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation

My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.

App Server crashes - need help

We have the problem that our App Server crashes under different conditions. Our application is a Web App with many Session and Entity EJBs. We using Oracle 8.1.6 as DB.
The following code Fragment causes the Error:

This funktion works fine until the number of entity beans exceeds a size over 400. if we reach a higher number of beans the Server crashes without any exception most of the time. Sometimes we got an Exeption like "OraclePrepareStmt - class not found Exception".
This Crash occurs only when we start the App Server Instance in Release Mode. When we start int in debug mode it works fine. We can reproduce this behavior on Solaris and Windows Versions of the App Server.
Any ideas where we can look to solve this problem? Or if you need more information about our configuration, plz post here.

Random Premiere Pro CC crashes ***Need help***

Hiya, this is my first time posting here so excuse my scruffy postings.
I am having some serious problems with my PP:CC and I can not find anything anywhere or anyone who has been struggling with the same crashes as myself.
What seems to happen to me is at random intervals my Premiere Pro says "Premire Pro Creative Cloud Has stopped working..." blah blah and then either closes off itself or I have to close it off, with no way for me to save my work. It gives me no crash report either and no trace to follow up as to why it crashes. These crashes can happen within 10 seconds of me opening the program and then I can edit for hours seeing nothing. It also happens when I do anything, there is not 1 specific task / operation I make for it to crash although commonly today it has crashed once I drag the timeline bar left a minute or two, or importing new video clips, adding transitions, basically anything and I don't know what's wrong!
I first got these errors when I used Premiere Pro CS5.5 and they were beoming more and more common so I decided to upgrade to CC, that didn't help my case. A friend told me to re-install QuickTime which for about a week I didn't get any crashes and managed to get a lot of work done, but now the crashes are back!

Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information

MacBook Pro crashing-need help

I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2012) running Mountain Lion. Today I hooked an external monitor to it, a Samsung 24" LED HD. It worked great for about 20 minutes and then the screen started flashing on and off. I tried to restart my computer and a window came up to reinstall from backup, reinstall Lion, use disk first aide or a clean install. None were good choices. Yesterday I had bought a new external hard drive and had planned to set up time machine tonight, so no back up yet. I ran disk first aide and it found no problems on the HD, but the permissions were wrong on several files, mostly iTunes files. One however, was something in the systems files and it said that it would not be repaired. I am currently reinstalling the operating system and hoping that my files are not gone. I am now afraid to try hooking the monitor back up. Has anyone else had this kind of problem when using a Samsung monitor? I did not download anything during the short time that I was using the external monitor and only went to a couple of websites that I normally go to. Any suggestions on what might have caused the crash? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
I just tried re-installing Lion and after about 30 minutes, it came up and said that there was an error and it could not install. I am trying again.

The startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Select: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions here.
While you have the startup disk selected in Disk Utility check Capacity and Available at the bottom of the window.
Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
And that S.M.A.R.T. Status says Verified
