Acrobat 9.5.3/4 update caused distiller to crash, and now cannot print to PDF

We have a TON of computers that have Acrobat 9 Pro.  They have been running fine, however today I got a ton of calls about not being able to print to PDF.
When you try distiller crashes with:
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). 
This is occurring on anyone who is up to date on patches.
And old computer that was on Acrobat 9 works, updated to 9.2, worked, updated to 9.5.3 = Busted as noted above.
I cant seem to find how to uninstall that patch, and I don't want to uninstall 50 copies and re-install.....

Hmm. Never seen this before, and Google has no hits in connection with Distiller. But there are many google hits on this error.
All of them seem to relate to permissions on EXE or DLL files. I guess the first and simplest thing is to ensure that these users have read permission on every file in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat folder.
But it need not be these files. It could be a system DLL (perhaps the patch makes Distiller start to use a system DLL for the first time). There are a number of tools (e.g. DEPENDS.EXE) which can trace DLL dependencies for an EXE.

  • Adobe Pro 9.5.1 Update Now Cannot Print to PDF

    Since the update to 9.5.1 from 9.5.0 I can no longer print to Adobe PDF from any program.  I have reinstalled the update, ran the "Repair Adobe Installation" and still cannot print to a pdf.  It hangs at the point where you would be asked to name and save the pdf file. 
    I need a solution please!

    Since you apparently have the Adobe PDF printer, try printing to file from the print menu (just a check box). If that completes, open the file in Distiller to complete the process. Assuming success, you will need to check for AcroTray running in the background. It is necessary for the printer to work properly.

  • IOS 7 update causing 4S to crash and restart every 10-15 seconds

    Just updated my 4S to iOS 7. Update went fine but the phone now crashes every 15-20 seconds and restarts. Tried to restore but said it was unsuccessful.  Please tell me this can be fixed

  • While updating my ipod it crashed and now all I get is the apple logo on the screen.

    I clicked on the update operating system that had a notification next to it. It downloaded for a long while then asked me to hook up to itunes. I didi and it said it was downloading again . Then updating. Then said update failed and now all that shows on the screen is the apple logo. Also

    Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
    Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
    Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
    Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

  • I just updated to iPhoto 9.3 and now cannot save pictures to EHD

    I have an external hard drive that I use to backup all my iPhoto pics.  It is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and until the iPhoto update, I could click, drap, and drop into the EHD with no issues.  Since the update, I can't save anything to the EHD.  Do I have to reformat it again?  I've already had to do this once when I upgraded my desktop.  Any help/advice would be great.

    1. This isn't a back up you hav. If you've been dragging from the iPhoto Window then you're getting previews and not your full scale photos.
    2. Most Simple Back Up
    Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
    Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate

    i can't update to the latest adobe flash player on my 10.10.  once download starts (w/all browsers closed), it either freezes or crashes. 

    Install Flash Player in Safe Mode.
    Shut down the computer.
    Press the power button. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
    The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup,but not before the startup sound.
    Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Startup will take longer than usual.
    Login to your account. Launch Safari.
    Enter this  address in the Safari address bar manually. Click Enter.

    Follow the prompts. Install Flash Player.
    Once done, quit Safari and restart the computer from  in the menu bar.

    after update to Firefox 19.0.2 supposedly optimized for aol, browser seems to work fine except for aol mail.
    AOL mail opens, however after selecting new mail it will not allow one to open a new email by double clicking the message as is a normal way to open an email. It can be opened by right clicking the selected email message and selecting open in new window; however this mail cannot be replied to, saved or any other option as the option buttons on top of new window are inoperable. What's the fix- never was a problem in earlier versions of Firefox

    Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • Updated to Adobe Reader XI and now it wont open PDFs

    I'm running Windows XP and updated from Adobe Reader 9 to XI. Firefox required the update. I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall XI, but I still get the same error. I have included the screencaps of the errors. Anyone else have any ideas of things I could try or why it might be giving me this error? I'm opening the PDFs from the file on my desktop. I have tried both double clicking the file and right clicking and hitting open.

  • I have downloaded the new update for Firefox 3.6 and now cannot connect to the internet. I've checked my firewall and have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, but nothing works.

    After installing the new update for Firefox 3.6, no matter what I do, I cannot connect to the internet using Firefox. I can get on the internet using my other browsers (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer), so Firefox is the only one that doesn't work. I have already checked my firewall and have added and removed Firefox from my firewall to no avail. I've also already uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but so far it hasn't helped.

    I have already tried removing firefox from my firewall. Even when I do that, my firewall doesn't detect firefox and prompt me to add it. And when I manually add it, it still doesn't work anyways. I've already tried the link as well, but it has been unhelpful. :/
    I'm not sure if it matters, but a few weeks before this, I did download Microsoft Security Essentials.

    After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with device errors. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
    iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    Symptoms
    Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:
    Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
    Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
    Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
    Does not start up past Apple logo
    Appears frozen or unresponsive
    Is unable to "Slide to Unlock" or "Slide to Power Off"
    Resolution
    If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
    If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected,  restart your device.
    If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),  reset your device.
    If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.

    Also, am trying to install itunes and getting message "Apple Service Device" failed to start.

    Seems like everyone's having the same problem.  I uninstalled itunes and associated programmes including Bonjour however the Mobile Device Support Programme...it starts to uninstall and then reinstalls itself.  That aside, I then tried to download itunes to reinstall it but it doesn't want to know.  *** is going on????

    Look for the file named "eula.exe" (or just "eula")
    Double click it and accept the end user license agreement (eula)
    You should not see this error anymore

  • HT4623 Just did the latest update on my ipad and now cannot use my Facebook app it won't open? Any suggestions?

    I just did the update to iOS 7.1 and now cannot use my Facebook app on my ipad. It won't open, it just crashes. I can access it via the internet and can still use the app on my iPhone (which also has the update) but not on my ipad. Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions?
