Acrobat 9 - Can I...?

Hello all, I'm using a trial of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, and I do plan to purchase it based on what I've seen so far. I do have a couple of "Can I" or "How do I?" questions that I haven't been able to figure out...
-1-
Let's say I have a portfolio called "My Most Used Forms"
In it, I have two separate forms: "My Home Info" and "My School Info"
Both forms have a form field for a user to input their "Name"
Can I... pass the user's "Name" from "My Home Info" to "My School Info?"
I know this can be done within the SAME form... but can it be done on different forms within the same portfolio?
-2-
How do I add a date form field that automatically inserts today's date? -OR- Do I need to do anything special to my custom javaScript for this to actually show up? ...cause right now, it's not.
-3-
How do I export submitted form data to a database that resides on my server? (A link to a tutorial will do nicely if you have one.)
Thanks!

-4-
Can I set a portfolio-wide preference that will create all of my form fields with a specific "Appearance?" I'd like all of the fonts to be Arial 10 with no field borders or background colors.

  • The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Adobe Acrobat" can't be read or written. (Error code - 36)

I recently did a clean install on a 2011 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Went to install Adobe Acrobat 9 with the DVD media and about 3/4 of the way through the install, the install stopped and the following window appeared:  The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Adobe Acrobat" can't be read or written. (Error code - 36).  I've tried to install a few times and get the same message.  Is Adobe Acrobat 9 incompatible with Mavericks.  I've seen some posts on Apple Support Communities indicating that it is indeed compatible, but no explanation why the error pops up.

The hard drive may be dying anyway, or the directory damaged because it is so full.  You should never let the hard drive get over 85% full.
    A -36 error is a read/write error.
All you did with the power is reset the SMC.  Does nothing to reset everything to factory settings.
Do you have your original 10.4 installer discs for the MacBook?
    Is your data backed up?

  • Help please I can not openening because: Error opening the document,  Acrobat can not open the file while printing another document

Help, I ca not opening the file, beacause the mac says Error opening the document, Acrobat can not open the while printing another document

Thank you very much for your replies Taggert_77 & swmtgoet_x :D
Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.
This file is executable, grab it and you will see. Here is a screen shot (program in front is FlashFXP, behind is the cmd prompt and what should happen):http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/53273b4ddf.jpg
swmtgoetx_: I only did the other cmd's to try to make it spit out something, anything lol :D
The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)
    java -client -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar soht.properties
    Thank you again...the mystery remains
PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above).

  • Acrobat can't open this file

Documents i receive a message telling me I cant open this file because  The document "HFB.pdf" coiuld not be opened.   Acrobat can open fiiles in the "Adobe PDF document" format.
    1. What causes this message?
    2. Is there  a workaround?
I have already set Acroat Pro as the the default program to to pen all these dicuments.

Chucker48 I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Adobe Acrobat forum.  When posting I would also recommend including the following information:
    What version of Acrobat?
Which Operating System and version you are using?
A link to HFB.pdf file if possible.  Did you perhaps obtain the file from a website?

Acrobat can not connect with the email program, what can I do?

    Hello,
I'm sorry you're having trouble; unfortunately, I'm not sure I understand what's going wrong. Would you mind giving me more details about what you're trying to do and what the problem appears to be?
Just in case you're using the desktop version of Acrobat and not Acrobat.com (which is the forum to which you posted your question), here's a link to their forum so you can repost your question there:

    Thank you!

More helpful than Adobe so far.
Note: Clicking on the link below will immediately open the download dialogue box.
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.1/en_US/AdbeRdr1011_en_US.exe
I used this download to install, and the Installer was flawless.
Thanks everyone who contributed ideas and potential solutions.

  • I have a new PC. Old version of Acrobat can't be updated. I want to purchase Adobe Acrobat, not rent it! Where do I find that option?

I have a new PC. Old version of Acrobat can't be updated. I want to purchase Adobe Acrobat, not rent it! Where do I find that option?
I posted the question above about 45 minutes to one hour ago never saw it come up on the list. Trying again...
Why can't I just contact Adobe directly? (My previous question is more important at the moment)

    Hi Matt,
You can purchase Acrobat from the below mentioned URL.

  • Acrobat Can't Find Wingdings Font

I just received a PDF file which, when opened, informed me that Acrobat can't find my Wingdings font. I opened a text box and used Wingdings, Wingdings 2 and Wingdings 3. How can I point Acrobat to my Wingdings font for this document? For future documents?

No problem. Thanks for letting us know your solution. We often get so tied up in our views, we also forget the simple ones. Fonts can be confusing, but this is a good lesson on why you should embed fonts when you send the PDFs to others, at least those outside your office. I have seen PDFs that look like trash because a font had not been embedded. The most common case is with folks using LaTeX and not embedding fonts that are not on either a PC or a MAC. One guy created a whole program for a conference and posted it. In AA7 (with the font issue AA7 had) all of the titles were in a Greek font and were unreadable. I am sure they looked fine to him.
Sounds like you need a bit of a stress reliever tonight. Have a good one.

  • My Acrobat can't Save as other Word document?

All of a sudden my Acrobat Pro has stopped converting even small pdf’s to a Word document?
Have tried to reinstall Acrobat, but no cure?

Have you tried the repair and updates on the help menu? Can you convert it to anything else?

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat can't open online PDF's Suggestions ???

    Hi There-
I am using Firefox for my browser and if I try to open any online pdf page I get the following message
"The Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your web browser and try again"
I have checked for updates in Firefox, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe reader, which is 9.3 version. But to no avail,,,I still get the same message. Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Sincerely- Doug
P.S. Let me know if you need further information to help diaganose the problem.

I upgraded from OS Leopard 10.5 to OS Snow Leopard 10.6 recently, which is why I mentioned it could be "the" cause or "one" cause of me not being able to read online pdf's. My online pdf bank statements do not open up with Reader 9.3.3. The website simply says I need to download "Asian Font Pack" in order to read the pdf document. I've downloaded all languages, yet I'm still getting the same message. I've also triple checked to see if I have an older version of Reader that might be of hindrance. I only have 9.3.3 installed.
I am able to read pdf's already downloaded on my computer, just not the online pdf's I want to open.
So, I'm not sure if the problem is Adobe Reader or me upgrading to Snow Leopard (since I was able to read pdf's with Leopard).
I hope this clarifies my previous plea for help. Thanks.
    Alan

  • Acrobat can't open PDF files on iMac

I am unable to open PDF files with my computer ever since the hard drive crashed and I had to replace it and use Time Machine to reinstall everything.  I receive the following message, "You can't open the application Acrobat Reader 5.0 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."  How can I open up my PDF files?  I am operating with OS 10.7.5  I have a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

personally I would use preview to open pdf's as adobe and java are the biggest security threats to moderns computing
or if you like then you could upgrade your adobe acrobat read to a newer version not based on the powerpc code

  • Acrobat can't start

acrobat pro can preview in IE and outlook, but can't start this software,
double click the acrobat icon on desktop, this software without any response.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Programs & Features and do a repair on Acrobat. After the repair, run Help>Updates. You did not mention your version of Acrobat or OS and that may be an issue.

  • Acrobat can not open pdf email attachment

Acrobat 8 Professional.<br /><br />A user gets this error message when he tries to open up a pdf email attachment:<br /><br />"Acrobat could not open <File Name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."<br /><br />I can open up the attachment without any issues.<br /><br />Anybody else have this issue?

Yes, Ron Green here at the NYS Insurance Department. I now have two clients and counting that have somewhat of an identical problem.
Client #1 has Adobe 8 Professional installed on his pc which is running Widnows XP Professsional. Files are scanned using a XEROX MFP network scanner and client is able to open those scanned documents within adobe and then saves them to a network share. Problem arises whenever he attempts to attach the saved document to another application. Once he attempts viewing the scanned document at that point Adobe blows up with the same error message stating the file is corrupt.
Client #2 has Adobe 9 Reader but is still able to follow the same network scanning scenario aforementioned but encounters the exact same problem when attempting to attach the scanned PDF documents.
Is there any type of fix out there for this???

  • Acrobat can't find built-in font

When examining the same document with Acrobat 7.0.8 Pro on several of our Windows 2000 workstations, some workstations throw the following error and some do not - "Cannot find of create the font 'Code128JK'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." Those that show the error display dots in place of the characters.
Any help would be appreciated. More details follow.
    Thanks,
    Bruce
    DETAILS
The Type 1 font was installed manually on all workstations, using the Windows setting GUI.
I have confirmed that it exists and is properly registered on all workstations. There is a registry entry for the font under ...
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Type 1 Installer\Type 1 Fonts
On all workstations, other Windows applications have no trouble with the font, and display it in their list of available fonts.
Acrobat 7.0.8 Pro was installed by the same install package on all workstations.
With the document open in Acrobat, under File > Document Properties ... > Fonts, the failing workstations list the font as follows ...
    Code128JK
    Type: Type 1
    Encoding: Built-in
    Actual font: Unknown
The "good" systems list it as follows ...
    Code128JK
    Type: Type 1
    Encoding: Built-in
    Actual font: Code128JK
    Actual font type: Type 1

  • Acrobat can't access shared review data on WebDAV

Now I'm trying to setup shared review environment using WebDAV.
but, only when i use acrobat on MacOSX, can't access review data.
when i use windows this problem doesn't happen.
Does anyone know the any of reasons, workarounds?
    * Environment
    DAV Server : Apache 2.2.3 (mod_dav, mod_dav_fs) on CentOS 5.6
    Client : Mac OSX 10.6.8
    Acrobat : Acrobat Pro 10.0.0
    * Repro Steps
    1. Open Safari
    2. Access to WebDAV Url
    3. Acrobat (plugin) on Safari seems to open pdf file correctly, but error dialog is appeared.
dialog says "can't connect to ... (in Japanese)"
    * Additional Info
I can uploaded pdf file to WebDAV folder with this(MacOSX) client. (use Shared review wizard of Acrobat)
I can access review data when I use Windows(XP Pro, Acrobat X Pro and Acrobat Reader X 10.1.0)
WebDAV server 100% passed litmus(server protocol compliance test suite)
       litmus : http://www.webdav.org/neon/litmus/
This problem occured both of via http and via https.

    AmbooS wrote:
A similar issue was fixed in Acrobat 10.1 patch. Download and install the patch from Adobe website and see if your issue is resolved.
I installed Acrobat Reader 10.1.0 on the above Mac (I didn't apply the patch). but the same problem reproduced with this Acrobat Reader.
( get the Dialog box which says "Acrobat cannot connect to the Review Server ..." )
Then I changed the following preferences, This problem has not been solved yet.
    1. Security(Enhanced)
Add webdav host to Privileged Locations.
    2. Trust Manager -> Internet Access ...
Click 'Change Settings...', then Allow webdav site address.
    I verified the followings.
    1. MacOSX Safari can't access to PDF(Shared Review) properly.
After the installing Adobe Reader 10.1.0, while loading pdf, progress bar of Acrobat Reader Plugin began to not progress (not finished to open).
When I open the PDF(not for Shared Review), Reader Plugin can open it correctly.
(I verified Safari's installed plugin setting for pdf  is "Adobe Acrobat Plug-in, Version 10.1.0")
*I verified the following 2-4 with Firefox on MacOSX.
    2. I checked http access log (of webdav server), but there are no access logs from (MacOSX's) Adobe Synchronizer.(I verified this when the firewall of MacOSX was disabled)
    3. Access to PDF file is working properly (Acorobat Reader on MacOSX can display PDF (but shared review data are not)).
    4. When I accessed from Windows XP(Acrobat Reader), like the following http access log has been recorded.
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - suda [22/Sep/2011:15:41:55 +0900] "GET /webdavtest/2/413/1/NEW_0003_review.pdf__735c6012134e4f9f9fbdebb4b9029b39/masao.suda.at.i nteraction-i.co.jp.xml HTTP/1.1" 304 - "-" "Mozilla/3.0 (compatible; Adobe Synchronizer 10.1.1)"
It seems that Adobe Synchronizer on MacOSX (Adobe Resource Synchronizer) doesn't work properly.
In the previous post. Once I (and my co-worker) verified this was solved certainly.
I found similar issue (  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/850377 ). was this problem solved?

  • Acrobat can't find my scanner anymore.  I have two and it can't find either.

Why can't Acrobat find my scanners anymore?

It would appear that Adobe's programmers are "stuck" on the idea that they need to "fix" their ICA software, rather than figuring out why their TWAIN software worked flawlessly with version 8 [Acrobat Pro], and not at all with many scanners across many computer systems. I'm running Mac OSX 10.7.5, with Acrobat Pro [11.0.09] and the problem just gets worse with each Adobe update.
