Acrobat 9 - Export pictures (CMYK RGB)
Hello,
several days ago i upgrades my old Acrobat 6&7 (i have 4 licences in use) to the 9 version 9.
During my tests of the most used functions, i found a big problem refering the most used Feature "Export all pictures".
Every month i export picures from several 1000 PDFs. About 95% of the pictures in the PDFs are in CMYK colormode, caused by the fact that i need RGB pictures i used the option for conversion to RGB.
Unfortunatly 90% of the PDFs/pictuures have no ICC-profil, so i used the Colormanagemnt-Prefenrences in Acro 7 to define the cmyk color source and the RGB diestionation profil (sRGB).
In Acrobat 9 there is no effect to the pictures by changing the colorpreferences - i changed nearly everytheing but the exportet RGB-pictures are far away from the result i want to have an Acro 7 gives me.
So i tested a little bit:
- files whith DDF/X-outputintend: no effect (ugly picture again)
- output as CMYK-pictures: picture look very well
- tagged the picture itself inside the PDF whith an CMYK-ICC-profil: correct colorspaceconversion while outputting them as RGB-pictures
- Converting the pictures from cmyk to rgb inside the PDF via Printproduktion > Convert colors: correct conversion
So what do i do wrong? Do i missing some new features (the Acrobat helps offers nothing) or is this a bug.
Thanks for every help or hint.
System: Windows XP SP3, Acrobat 9 Pro incl. Pitstop 08 update 4
Kind Regards
Klaas Posselt
Problem Solved but Thanks!

Hi there.
Looking for some advice on Freehand
I have just started producing picture books and have been
told by the printers they should be outputted as CMYK. Originally I
created all the images in fireworks and can only export as RGB.
This in its self isn’t that much of a problem as the printers
can convert to CMYK during the printing process, but obviously when
the pics are converted the colours tend to differ slightly.
My question is this: If I get freehand, will I be able to
design and export in CMYK so the colours used in the original will
hold true when they go to print?
Thanks

RGB > CMYK conversion will always change colors. Colors
like bright greens, oranges and violets will suffer the most. This
is simply because rgb color space is much wider than cmyk.
So, the colors will change in any program and it is best to
choose the one which has the best control over conversion. I would
not necessarily use FreeHand because the color management is
inadequate although it can be adjusted fairly well. For print KDS
must be used (Preferences > Color).
The problem is that FreeHand cannot import all the effcts and
although some can be reapplied they do not work in CMYK oputput.
The color conversion, however, is quite simple after opning
png file select Name All Colors from the Xtras > Colors menu and
then convert all colors that appear in Swatches palette to CMYK.
But this applies only to outline objets and text. If FreeHand
renders objects with effects they remain rgb.
Maybe saving as psd and making the connversion in Photoshop
is a better choice but this will work only if your original files
are about 300 dpi because resampling will scale only outline
objects and text leaving effect values like intact.
It is maybe better to use FreeHand for cmyk output but then
you cannot use raster effects. Or you can use Fireworks but you
have to set the resolution to 300 dpi to avoid problems, this of
course create large files. Also you cannot preview your art in CMYK
in Fireworks.
So, there are options but make a few test files and send them
to printer before starting to make the actual work. Usually
printers are just pleasd if the technique is tested beforhand
ensuring that problems do not come up just before the deadline.

InDesign CS6 gives CMYK/RGB values when creating PDF.
This results in a different white colors on the pdf - InDesign CS5 doesn't do this. Can someone inform me how this can be solved easily?
Well during export to pdf the white balance of some pictures changes. This results in a pdf where white backgrounds of product shots become a different color. I clearly see it has something to do with the white balance but don't know what - tried already to export it as RGB of CMYK profile but the not all images of the same color coding (mix of RGB and CMYK saved visuals are used in one document).
When I save the files as idml and open it in CS5, the problem is gone. So since the switch to CS6, I have this issue and as you might imagine, this is not very pratical. -
I need to download my Acrobat Export PDF pro, where could I do this? I can not find the link in (my account) as I have already renewed my annual subscription. PLEASE HELP
It isn't something you download. Sign on in Adobe Reader and the Export button just works.

Is there a bug or problem with increased noise when exporting pictures out of Lightroom 4?

As you are asking about it, looks like you do see a problem. So if googling does not provide a solution, you should describe the issue in detail so we can try to help out.

Iphoto - export pictures and import in an other mac
is it possible to export pictures which are stored on one mac in the iphoto lib and to import them an an other computer. So that i can manually sync the folders.
Or does any one knows an other way to sync (both directions)
Thanks
Hansis it possible to export pictures which are stored on one mac in the iphoto lib and to import them an an other computer. So that i can manually sync the folders.
Yes - you just export them from iPhoto on computer 1 - move them to the other computer and import them into iPhoto there
There is no way to sync
If the computers are connected in some way you can use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - -to move photos between the libraries

How to I export pictures from iphoto to a sd card
how do I export pictures from iphoto to a sd card?
léonie wrote:
Exporting from iPhoto to the SD card is preferable. Dragging to the card will only write the lower quality preview files and not the high resolution originals.
Export to a folder on the Desktop and then drag the folder to the card. If the file system on the SD Card is not MacOS Extended (Joournaled), you'll avoid a problem with the limit of files, that can be stored on the top level of the card by collecting all files in a folder.
Actually I found the opposite was true.
As you can see in the following picture, the dragged photo, which is the one named IMG_2268.JPG retained more metadata and had a larger file size than the one I exported which was reduced in file size, and lost a bit of the meta data in the export. Including the creation date, and the latitude and longitude.
I think Dragging is the better option. -

Hi, I've taken a picture with the flash on my iPhone and the picture seems to come out with white eyes. I tried using the red eye tool that comes with iPhoto. When I exported the picture to my PC, the picture was not modified and still had white eyes, but the one on my iPhone was modified? So I really don't understand why the exported picture was not modified?
Thanks!Hey Kerstin55,
Great question. I believe the following article will help you accomplish your goal:

It's very easy but time consuming: I just open every folder and simply count it.
Use Finder to search for JPGs. Select the top-most Finder folder, press "{Command}+f". Count of matching files in shown the bottom border of the window (in this example, click "ptgOther" (the name of a folder) instead of "This Mac"):
