Acrobat 9 gone

I own Adobe Creative Suite CS4 and installed the Web Suite CS5 trial.  Today, my trial expired so I unistalled it b/c Acrobat was acting funny.  However, after I uninstalled, Acrobat 9 was gone.  I had to download 10 again as the trial.  How can I get back Acrobat 9 back and use my license number?
Thanks in advance!

I installed it while Acrobat 10 was on my machine.  I tried making a PDF but it wouldn't even so I uninstalled 10, rebooted my computer and now when I make a PDF it says it made one even though it doesn't and then it tries to make another and a dialogue box that I've never seen before comes up saying it's creating one. I had to force it to close b/c it just sits there and tries to make another PDF after it made one. There is no PDF....
Only 9 is on my machine and it is not working properly.

  • Acrobat XI droplets not working in Acrobat DC and Preflight profiles gone

I can't find any of the custom preflight profiles from Acrobat XI in the newly installed Acrobat DC. Are they gone (deleted)?
I expected them to be upgraded... not to be removed without any notice.
Also preflight droplets no longer work. Dragging and dropping a file on a droplet made in Acrobat XI: it seems to load for 5 seconds, but nothing happens.
Should I tell our customers to keep Acrobat XI, and not upgrade to DC, or is there an easy way to upgrade Acrobat IX droplets (and preferably also keep any profiles)?
This is on Windows, I've not tested on mac.
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
As co-existence of A11 and ADC on the same system is not supported so its not expected for the older droplets to work with the newer version.
I checked with Acrobat 10 created droplets with Acrobat 11 and wasn't able to make it work either.

  • Acrobat X Pro is gone and only the trial for XI Pro is installed.  Can I get X back?

I have CS6 Design Standard.  On the seldom-booted (2x/month) Windows partition of my MacBook Pro Acrobat X Pro is gone and only the trial for XI Pro is installed.  Can I get X back?
I don't know how/when/why the trial was installed because Windows is running for only a few hours a couple times a month.  The most reasonable possibility is the App Manager.  If it says there's an upgrade available I just click the button and pay no attention to details.   I suspect amateurs like me aren't going to notice one additional character in the name, if that's what happened.  If that is what happened I'll never use the app manager again for fear of replacing fully functional apps with trial versions with short lives.  Of course I am open to the idea that I did else something stupid.
    Thanks.
    -Alan

The application manager should not have installed a trial version and XI is not an update for X. The manager should only install updates for the existing version.
To get AA X back you will have to reinstall it from your original media.

I have CS6 it use to have the Acrobat XPro now it is gone. Where did it go and how do I get it back?

We can't know. You are not offering any system info or details on what product/ suite you are actualyl referring to by "CS6" nor do we know what update or install procedures on your system you may have done recently. There was an Acro update last week, perhaps it bombed and destroyed your Acro install...

  • Where's the Advanced|Document Processing|Batch Processing menu gone in Acrobat 11?

I have Acrobat 8.3.1 Professional at work, we're migrating to new machines (Win7) with Acrobat 11 Standard.
I've run into a problem:  In 11 Standard, where is the equivalent to the Advanced|Document Processing|Batch Processing menu command from Acrobat 8 Pro??
I have 2 sequences I need to be able to run for docment filing with Court.
Both sequences focus on a specific folder where I put (sometimes quite large) batches of documents converted from Word to PDF.
The 1st sequence goes through however many files are in the target folder.  For each file, it turns on the thumbnails, and turns off the menu bar.
I then do some tinkering en mass with them in Acrobat.
Then I run the 2nd sequence, which turns off the thumbnails, and turns the menu bar back on - this is a requirement from Court.
I just started tinkering with Acrobat 11 on my new machine, and the menus seem quite different!
Currently, as each sequence runs, I have to sit there clicking "OK" for each and every file, which is tedious at best!  I'd love to find something that'll give me the same functionality, with Acrobat doing all the grunt work!

Ugh.  I kinda thought that someone might say this.
Ironically, the same situation arose a couple years ago when we got the machines we're migrating *from* - The Powers That Be thought that 8 Standard would work, and I quickly educated them that "nope, yer gonna hafta spring for me a copy of Pro!"
So, it looks like "here we go again!"
    Thanks anyway!
Now I get to cause our purchasing folks NEW grief!  I've told them repeatedly that they should REALLY involve me in these purchases, so I can do the pre-purchase research, and save everyone a lot of bother.

  • XP SP2 German, CS3, update to Acrobat 8.1.1  - all printers gone

Not the first time this is happening:
after downloading CS3 patches / updates (today it has been 8.1.1) ALL printers are gone. Print spool and RPC processes work properly; registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers still does show the printers but all that is left in the SystemControl\Printers and Faxes is the "Add printer" button.
I re-installed my Samsung CLP printer (TCP/IP) and run the acrobat fix installation utility afterwards. Result: Adobe PDF was installed, the CLP was gone again !
I'm starting to really get pissed - I have not even the faintest intention to re-install all printers after each patch / update. If neither MickeyS nor Adobye are responsible - does anybody out there know at least a tool how to quickly backup and restore printer configuration ???
Thank you very much for any help !!

Today it happened again - no one to come up with an explanation / solution ???

  • My Toolbars are gone when Acrobat is opened.

When I open Acrobat 8.0 Standard on its own my default tool bars are open, but when I double-click on a .pdf file, my tool bars are gone. I can reset them and they reappear, but they are gone again the next time Acrobat opens when a .pdf is opened. Any suggestions?

You can use the function keys (F7, F8, or F9) to get them back, I don't remember which of the combinations - it is easy enough to try.

  • Acrobat XI, comment keyboard shortcuts gone missing, osx mountain lion

It used to be the case, with Acrobat X, that when you are making a comment on a PDF file, one would be able to use keyboard shortcuts to speed things up.
For example, one could select a point, and hit the '~' key to 'insert text at cursor', or the 'delete' key to do a 'strikethrough', and so on. It seems that
with Acrobaat XI many of these keyboard shortcuts (but not all, 's' still seems to work) are gone.
    Is this intentional?
Also, to be honest, I was really looking forward to the Acrobat XI update for improved abilities to markup a PDF. It seems all of the effort went into
things like changing a PDF, but that is not at all how I use PDF. I almost always have the original source of a PDF, or if I don't, what I want
to do is markup a PDF (either with comments, or with ink using a wacom), and if anything the features for doing this have (as mentioned in the first paragraph
    above) gone into reverse.
Lastly, I do all of this under osx mountain lion, I should say.
    thanks.

We received a lot of issues from customers regarding the behavior in A X. Hence in A XI, we have done the changes that keyboard shortcuts for adding text correction comments will only work if "Text Correction Markup" (rightmost icon in the second row of Annotations panel) is selected or active.
Ok, I have been trying to use this for a few days, but I need to go back to acrobat X since for some reason the "text correction markup" option gets unselected about once avery 3 text corrections I make. I have been unable to figure out why it keeps getting unselected, and it is tiring to have to keep reselecting it so often. And why would you use '~' which normally does a text correction to pull up the "output preview" window???? This really makes no sense at all.
I'm also quite dissapointed that there is still no keyboard shortcut for "add note to text".
Is it really the case that so few people want to do text corrections/annotations to pdf documents that there has been no improvement to these features over the past few years? You'd think that with devices like the ipad and with remarkably good pdf readers on the ipad like goodreader (and that have a wealth of markup options, and where the authors really seem to have thought about how to make marking up pdfs quick and efficient), that acrobat would have done at least something to improve in this regard.
Oh, I figured out why "text correction markup" keeps getting unselected. I usually use esc to escable the bubble that pops up for notes/annotations to text. If you type escape again, it leaves text correction markup mode. Why would you do that?
I want to stay in text correction mode (in fact I would like it to be *always* on,like acrobat X was.
Other bugs i've found. Sometimes the bubble pops up but there is no text field. I.e., there is the highlighted callout going from the text to the bubble to the actual text, but then the text field is not shown. This is clearly a bug.
Again, this is all osx mountain lion. Maybe Adobe is still mad at apple due to flash? I don't know, but it really seems like you did not test this version very thoroughly.

  • Cursor arrow gone from solid black to having white lines go through it and trackpad is not working properly in mail and adobe acrobat - anyone know how this could have happened and how to solve it?

Can anyone help me?  Concerned that I may have some kind of malware.  My cursor arrow and trackpad are behaving strangely,  The cursor used to be a solid black arrow but now seems to have horizontal white lines running through it.  The trackpad does not function normally either.  For example, when I use my trackpad to scroll up and down in mail  it sometimes works and sometimes does not.  In adobe acrobat it sometimes does not work.  In facebook, the cursor does not line up behind the menu keys as it should.
Any one know how this might have happened and how I can stop it?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • PDF files used to open with a "save" option, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on my system (running Windows 7). Now, that icon is gone and I can't save. Is there another way to configure the plug-in or is Firefox preventing this or what? THANK YOU.

this is a new problem. Running Windows 7, latest update of Firefox 3.6.13. Under "Applications", I'm set to "open Adobe Acrobat inside Firefox" (which is what I have always done, then if I wanted to, I saved the PDF file elsewhere). should I/ can I open the PDFs outside Firefox, with my Adobe 9 Pro program?

    ■ Use '''Tools -> Options -> Applications ->''' <br> then look under content for Adobe Acrobat forms etc;
<br> note a choice of options is usually available
    * see [[Options window - Applications panel]]
Firefox is of course a web browser. <br>Acrobat reader is Adobe's program used to read and display the pfd files on your computer. Other programs may be used instead of Acrobat reader. You would normally have the Acrobat program and the pdf file present on the local computer, often both on the same hard drive, if you were opening individual pdf files directly with Acrobat.
Firefox uses a plugin so that it may use Acrobat to open pdf files and display the results within a firefox window or tab. If you do not have that plugin installed, or it is not enabled firefox may be unsure what to do with the file and offer to save it to whatever your default local download location is, without attempting to open the file in firefox.

I am sorry KJerry but you will need to contact our support team.  To much personal information will need to be exchanged to possibly resolve your difficulties in a public forum.  Did you try contacting chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6?  You may also want to try a different web browser if your current browser is unable to initiate the chat session.

  • Where has Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional gone?

Hi,  I have just done something disastrous.  I had Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional installed and came across Adobe Reader 9 so I thought I'd upgrade!!!  Well, I obviously don't know my acrobats from my readers, etc. do I?  Duh!!  Now I can't look at any pdf documents I have installed because I stupidly removed Acrobat 6 from 'add/delete hardware' in Control Panel.  Oh well I thought, I'll just go to the Adobe website and download Acrobat 6 professional again so I can, once again, have access to my documents  ..... but I can't find it on the website and now I don't know what to do to be able to read my pdf's again.  If I DO download AA 6 professional again, will I be able to read my documents, or will I have to download them again?  Can someone help me please?  Many thanks.  Jan.

There is an outside chance that if you registered your AA6 (or have proof of purchase), you can call Adobe to try to arrange to get a fresh copy. It might cost a bit if they agree to send it to you and still have it available to send. If it is no longer available for problems like yours, then you will indeed have to upgrade. That may be an issue since you no longer have AA6 and AA9 will check for AA6 on the upgrade. Otherwise it will not install under the upgrade. So in any case you will likely have to contact Adobe.

  • ADOBE ACROBAT 6.0 GONE

Even after a discussion with a "Support Specialist" who doesn't get the difference between Acrobat and Acrobat Reader I can do my job!!!!
Who would have thought some IDIOT software development team would allow a system to be released that doesn't allow a simple pdf file to be opened.
Some nonsense about Power PC no more, Intell now blah blah blah. I'm a CUSTOMER, I don't care about that crap! Just make it seamless like you guys used to. Did someone go to Seattle and train at the Gates Factory????
And oh by the way, the only thing on the Adobe sie is how pdfs won't open in Safari 5.1. Actually that works fine. I just cant open any of the 10 files I spent all morning working on that are on my DESKTOP.
Wake up APPLE. You are becoming tedious. Market share is tentative!!!!
How do I get my money back.

First, didn't "blindly" update. Check the apple site. I accomplished the 3 things it said to do.
Worked great until I actually tried to do some work.
I choose apple because transitions to new software used to be seamless. Now they appear to be trying to see how cute that can be. Can't use a paid for program like Acrobat? Great idea!
