Acrobat 9 install asian fonts

having trouble installing asian fonts on linix. wants a path where adobe acrobat 9 was installed, I give the path /opt/Adobe/Reader9/bin but with no luck, it just says that that is not a path or something. Tried a few different forums seen some solutions for adobe 8 but they dont seem to be working for 9 any suggestions?

Hi,
The path that you need to enter at the terminal for installing the font pack is the root directory of Adobe Reader 9.x installation.
The default root directory for Adobe Reader 9.x installation is '/opt'.
Hence:
If you installed Adobe Reader using the RPM or DEB installer, you need to specify only '/opt' as the path for installing the font pack.
If you installed Adobe Reader using the tar ball or the .BIN installer, and chose the default path for installation, you need to specify only '/opt' as the path for installing the font pack.
If you installed Adobe Reader using the tar ball or the .BIN installer, and chose a different path for installation, you need to specify the same path for installing the font pack.

  • Can't get Acrobat 9.3.2 to read Chinese characters or install Chinese fonts

(Please read what I've done already before suggesting solutions.)
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 on Windows XP Professional with administrator privileges, and I just cannot get it to read PDFs in simplified Chinese. (Apparently the Asian fonts weren't installed when my IT people installed Acrobat.) I've downloaded and installed FontPack90_zh_CN.msi. No use. I have gone into Add/Remove Programs, gone to "modify" in the Adobe Acrobat item, and ensured that the Asian fonts are installed through that. Everything seems to go OK, but I still can’t read Chinese PDFs.
When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process. But at the end, I get another message saying, "The missing CMap or font was not successfully installed. This could be due to insufficient privileges. Please check with your system administrator to ensure that you have sufficient privileges." Recall that I already have administrator privileges.
    Suggestions?

"When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process."
I have the same problem, but I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  I have Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.2 installed.  After installation, it reboots my computer, but the same error comes up.  After doing this twice, I tried using Control Panel/Programs and Features to Modify the installation and add Simplified Chinese Language Support.  That process also completed succssfully (i.e. no error messages) but even after rebooting again, and re-entering control panel, it showed that the support had not been installed.  When opening the same document the same message was displayed.
It is clear that Acrobat 9.3.2 has an issue across a number of Windows platforms.  Will soneone (anyone?) from Adobe acknowledge this issue?

  • Problem with Acrobat 8.12 keeps trying to install Japanese Font Pack

I have a client who received a pdf file and when she opened it she was told that it needed the Japanese Font Pack. I gave her admin rights but it still keeps doing it. My pc with the same setup works perfectly fine with the offending file. Now everytime she opens any PDF it tries to open the offending file first and load the font pack. I was able to go into the registry and remove the keys that mention the file and Acrobat works fine as long as we do not try and open that file again. We have installed the font pack separately. The offending file opens fine in Reader. Any idea why this would keep happening and if there is a solution to stop it from happening. Thank you.

Actually, since I started getting the security warning, I haven't tried it on another machine. You think this information might be only stored on my machine? It's worth trying... Thanks!

  • How can I install asian script for language support for bangla in safari and install a font??

how can I install asian script for language support for bangla in safari and install a font? Some websites are working fine in ipad and iphone4 but not in mac osx supported imac or macbook. Example: www.sonarbangladesh.com.

You just need to install a font, like one of these:

  • Acrobat 8 / Incorrect Bookmark Font

When I create bookmarks in Acrobat 8, the bookmark font defaults to an Asian font -- one of the Apple-provided system fonts originally installed. See screenshot below:
I'm creating the bookmark by highlighting words using the text-selection cursor and then Command+B.
What's interesting is that if I type right over the bookmark that I just created, it converts to an English font.
I have to bookmark eight very long manuals with a total of about 2000 bookmarks. I can't sit and retype each bookmark after I create it so that they all display in English.
I can't find any way to control the default bookmark font.
Anyone have any idea what's going on, and what I can do to correct it? I believe that uninstalling all Asian-language fonts isn't an optoin as they are required by the system, as that's how the system software was originally installed.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions you can offer.
    Laurie

I never got this figured out. I had to manually type every single entry to change it from the Asian font to English.
At least now I know that I'm not the only one dealing with this bug. It's too bad no one else has been able to offer a solution.

  • Having Problem with Asian Fonts

I'm having a problem installing the packages ttf-arphic-ukai and ttf-arphic-uming.  They install fine, but it completely corrupts all my fonts.
Any new applications that are launched (or when KDE is relaunched) have nothing but boxes for the fonts, and, when I log out of KDE to KDM, everything appears as boxes.  If I log in to KDE and check out the Fonts section in KControl, it just crashes.
Thinking it was just a KDE issue, I installed Fluxbox, and it won't even start.
This is a brand new installed based off of the 0.7.2 base ISO, and I've updated everything completely.  Before the fonts are installed, everything is working perfectly.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

On Friday I started to develop a page that had japanese translation. I had no problems with it.
Anyway, I realized something that may help you. No matter what font i choosed, japanesse characters where allways showed, and they were always the same.
It means that asian fonts override standard fonts. What can be happening to you is that you don't have the fonts properly configured (either the fonts by themselves, or in Xorg).
I don't know enough about fonts to give you more information about it, but what you should do after reading this is uninstall all asiatic fonts, install japanese fonts, install kde-i18n-jp and create an a user account with KDE set to japanese language and see if it works well to you. If it does not work then the problem is in your configuration. If it works well then do the same with the asian fonts. If they are still not working then to me it looks as a bug, and you should report it.

  • Unable install Japanese Font Pack to Win7 English

    Dear Experts,
I need to install Japanese Font Package on Windoes 7 English, however I could not install the font pack FontPack1000_ja_JP.msi due to the error,
"This installer requires Adobe Reader X installed on your system. Please install Adobe Reader X before running this installer."
Even the latest Adobe Reader X 10.1.3 is already installed on the system...
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Here is my pc sysinfo,
    OS Name: Microsoft Windows Vista

    Best regards,

The Japanese Reader version already includes the Japanese fonts, so it is usable for this purpose.  Is this workable for you, or would you still like to try installing the Japanese font pack with the English Reader version?
    Hiro.Naka wrote:
Yes, it is installed as default installation, I don't know why it's not recognized.
I don't know that either; most likely it is some registry entry that is incorrectly set.
What I would try if I could not get the Japanese font pack installed with English Reader:
    uninstall font pack and Reader
    run the Acrobat Cleaner tool
    reinstall Reader and font pack
If that does not work, then I have no more ideas.

  • Installing special font in one accessable location

I have used spedific font within a report and now in order to put his report in production, I have to install this special fonts in every machine for the user to print. Is there any better way to install font in one location and be able to access them by any user? Any direction or suggestions would be of great help.

    Hi Zuber
If you are using Reports 9i, you can use new features in PDF output to workaround this issue.
Use Font Subsetting/Font Embedding features that comes with Reports 9i. If you generate PDF file using these features, Reports will embed the font file into the PDF file. Thus the PDF file becomes protable. Wherever you take this PDF file, you do not need to install the font in that machine as Acrobat can always retrieve the font file from within the PDF file itself to render the characters. Of course, you get the same output on the Printer as well.
For more information on these features, refer Reports Help on OTN.

  • Asian fonts display in font book but show as Western fonts in apps!

Adobe apps still display Asian fonts as Western characters, even though I've changed language settings via the "international" control panel of System Preferences. Perhaps I have not done this correctly? I've restarted the machine after changes to Systems language prefs. Asian and other calligraphic fonts are all installed and display fine in Font Book. Is there a fix?

As my aim is to access character sets without the
need to change the language settings on my machine
That's exactly what Character Palette does.
think the ideal solution is to get a copy of
Fontographer and copy all the decorative fonts and
    save them as standard fonts.
A total waste of time in my view.
    True Futhark has several
characters that stand for phonetics not compatible
with plain roman alpha/qwerty keyboard use. I
understand the same is true of other fonts-there are
    bound to be discrepancies.
Most of the characters in the world are not compatible with qwerty keyboard use. That's why in general people don't use that method to produce them, or try to jigger fonts so they might be able to.
    Perhaps this is why so
many characters come up as "?" even when inserted
    via the Finder's character palette?
This may be because your app is set to Latin-1 or some other limited encoding. It should be set to UTF-8. Try Character Palette with TextEdit and you will not get any ?'s.
Control+T does nothing in Adobe apps, as far as I can
see. Apple+T brings up the Type palette but there is
no "insert special character" option there.
I got that wrong. The combo for Apple apps is Option + Apple + T. I don't know if that works in Adobe (don't use them myself).
    I did notice a wonderful
Tibetan font that must be on my machine somewhere,
though it does not show up in Font Book under "All
    Fonts"!
These are part of the ST series of Chinese fonts. If you go to the Tibetan range in Character Palette you can see this and you can also input them in TextEdit or a UTF-8 doc. Or you can examine the contents of an ST font by putting Character Palette in glyph mode.
I guess ideally, for graphics use, one should get the
characters into a standard font file, as I suggest
above, and then type away merrily qwerty-style.
Some Asian scripts have thousands of characters. Using a qwerty keyboard to try to access a few of them from a recoded font is not something that anyone does as far as I know. They use a specialized Input Method or the Character Palette or a similar utility. Also unless you are truly transforming your output into graphics/photos, your input would be seen as qwerty on other machines.
suppose these decorative fonts are available on the
web somewhere, where those who sell them have gone to
the trouble of transcribing the characters in to an
    'ordinary' font for you?
    Never seen such things myself.
It seems a shame that Macs OSX can't grant you access
to all these decorative fonts (indeed, to all
installed fonts) in a more straight forward manner.
The Character Palette is the most straightforward manner possible for accessing such scripts, if you do not want to switch keyboard layouts. All computer system use a similar mechanism. It even has a Favorites section where you can store characters you want to use frequently so you can avoiding looking them up each time. If you have some specific problems using it, I'd be glad to help, here or by email (click on my name for the address).
Am I correct in these assumptions?
No, I think all of them are wrong myself.

  • Bookmarks Appearing in Asian Font

    Hi
Running Acrobat 8 on new iMac. (10.6.4)
When I try to make a new bookmarkusing the select text/Command+B
    I'm getting asian font displaying.
When I do it manually by selecting the text copy, make new bookmark using the menu options and pasting, it comes out fine?
I've trashed Preference and have eveything updated and patched up.
    Thanks
    Marcus

The font is called "Apple Chancery".
    Location /Library/Fonts/Apple Chancery.dfont
Unique name Apple Chancery; 6.0d2e1; 2006-07-19
    I'm on Leopard 10.5.8 and DVDSP4.2.1, with Photoshop CS4.
It might be that DVDSP4 is not accessing a font collection called "Apple"?
Also, in Font Book, Chancery does not appear in the 'All Fonts' list, nor 'English', nor 'User', nor 'Computer'. But if I search, it shows up.
It seems that PS is accessing a broader list than DVDSP4.
    Any thoughts?

  • Cannot install Asian language support files

My user wants to type Chinese character at the PDF document.  I tried to install Asian language support for the Acrobat Adobe 9 Standard with the OEM CD.  However, I had a problem with it.  Instead of installing; it asked for the Acrobat Adobe 9 Standard - EFG - CD.  What's wrong?  It look like the Acrobat CD version is wrong, but it came with this computer.  Is it caused by installed wrong version of Acrobat security patches?  If yes, how to fix it?  Uninstall Acrobat Adobe 9 then reinstall it?  Any suggestion!!!  Thank you in advance.

I scanned a page with Chinese text and the resulting PDF showed all gray.
Based on your suggestion that the files may already be installed, I scanned the same Chinese text again and it scanned correctly.
Probably it was a one-time error. Everything seems to be working now. Thank you for replying.

  • How do I install PFB fonts when using Windows 7 64bit?

I got a new 64 bit computer with Windows 7. But when I copied the fonts I was using on the old computer the PFB fonts do not work any longer.
The old ATMF program does not work on this computer so how do I now install the PFB fonts?
    //Anni

Hopefully you did not try to install the old Adobe Type Manager software. If you did, you may need to totally reload Windows if you cannot restore your system to its state prior to attempting to install that software!
Assuming that you didn't make that fatal mistake, the method for installing Type 1 fonts, each of which consists of a .pfb and a .pfm file is as follows:
    (1)     Copy the .pfb and the .pfm  files to a single directory if they are not already so available.
    (2)     Select the .pfm files for the fonts you wish to install.
    (3)     Right-click and select Install which will then proceed to install the fonts onto your system copying both the .pfb and the .pfm files to the C:\Windows\Fonts directory. Do not drag-and-drop these files! Alternatively, if you don't want the font files themselves resident in the C:\Windows\Fonts directory, when you right-click the files, select Install as shortcut. This installs the font but references it from its current location.

  • Error Message on Web Premium Suite while opening Acrobat that Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a Suite

Can not open Acrobat Pro 9 out of my adobe creative suite 4 web premium.  Keeps giving an error message. Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite.  To enable Adobe Acrobat start another component of this suite.  I am running Windows 7 64 and already have the CS6 Premium Production Suite loaded on my computer.  I really don't need to load all of the Web Premium since I have upgraded to CS6 programs but still need the Acrobat.  My hard drive crashed and I've had to start all over again.  This is the only glitch and it's becoming very frustrating.
Can't find a link to actually speak to someone at Adobe.

you'll need to install and open some other 32 bit cs4 app.

  • Error while loading shared libraries after installing cleartype fonts.

    Hi there.!
Since the default fonts of Arch looked quite ugly on my LCD, I read the Fonts wiki and installed cleartype packages from AUR.But now, when I try switching to runlevel 5 (I use GDM by the way), it throws up following error:
/usr/sbin/gdm-binary: error while loading shared libraries: libcairo.so.2 : cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
I didn't edit the pkgbuilds in any way.Running "locate libcairo.so" doesn't show up anything either.
    Any help guys.?

Well you have two choices, use windows XP or google for 'fonts linux ugly'
or there is a search feature on this forum, it works well.
setting a right DPI will probably make your fonts look the best no matter what packages you install or ~/.fonts file you use.

  • My fonts that are installed in Font Book are not showing up in Microsoft Word. Can someone help me fix this problem?

    Hello!
I am needing some help. I own a Mac Book Air with OS X 10.7.5. This computer belongs to the school district I teach for, so I do not have permission to do a huge wipe that would uninstall programs such as Word. When I first got my computer, I added all my fonts. I did this by putting them into a fonts folder. The fonts were not all showing up in Microsoft Word, so I was told to use Font Book. All of my fonts show up and are installed in Font Book; however, they do not show up in Word. I have restarted my computer. All the fonts are validated. I have tried almost everything I could think of after researching answers online. Another problem--my bullet points are messed up. When I click the bullet button, instead of an open circle it's an open rectangle. This doesn't concern me as much, but I thought it might help as a clue as to what is wrong. The fonts also do not show up in the Format > Font box.
Also, I want to point out that my colleagues, using the exact same computer, network, etc, are able to download and use all the fonts. They have tried to fix mine, also.
Any help is much appreciated! Maybe there is some way to wipe out my fonts and start clean?
    Thanks so much!

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.
