Acrobat 9 Pro - can't accept user agreement

I have installed Acrobat 9 Professional successfully, but every time I launch it the dialog appears for me to accept or decline the user agreement.
All buttons are unresponsive when I click on them, Cancel, Decline and Accept, and I have to force the program to close to end it.  I have seen this before with another, non-Adobe program, but I was unable to determine a cause that time either.
Please tell me what I need to do.  I have Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium - SP 2 and am running multiple browsers, including IE 8.
Thanks

Have you tried repairing and/or reinstalling Acrobat 9?

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - can't accept EULA

I thought I would try one more time to see if anyone can help me.
I have recently installed Acrobat 9 Pro as administrator on Vista Home Premium 32.  No problems with the install but when I launch the program the EULA window comes up and wants me to Accept or Decline or Cancel.  None of the buttons do anything when I click them, and they are all enabled.
IE 8 is my default browser.
I have to force the program to quit in order to close it and still have not been able to use my product.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with same results.  I saw some old posts close to this same problem with registry fixes but none for Acrobat 9 Pro.  I would try the registry fix to bypass the EULA if someone could tell me what to add or change.
Adobe customer service has not been able to help me, which is unfortunate.
    Thank you

    Manually register the jscript.dll file.
    1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
    2. Right-click on Command Prompt, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.
    3. Type the following command exactly as it appears below, including the quotation marks, and press Enter:
          cd "%systemroot%\System32"
    4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
    5. When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.

  • Trying to "click" on accept user agreement on Adobe Acrobat Pro, free trial.  Nothing happens.

I have a Mac Book Air, latest update of OSX system 10.7.5.  I successfully downloaded a free trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro.  I've successfully installed it.  But when a pop up window asks to me to accept the license agreement, nothing happens even though I've pressed the button numerous times.  I've called Apple and they said this is an Adobe problem.  Adobe will only help me M-F.  As this is Saturday I was hoping someone might have an idea.

This is a known issue with Acrobat XI
Problem: Mac OS only. On launch, a blank EULA screen appears, which cannot be accepted, and Acrobat does not run. This problem can appear if you have any products installed from CCM or from Creative Suite, and you tried installing Acrobat XI from a different source.
Workaround: Launch any other product which is part of the CCM or Creative suite. Then, deactivate it by choosing Help > Deactivate. Quit the application. Then, launch Acrobat and accept the EULA. Then, for the CCM subscription product, launch it and select License This Software to enable the CCM product again. If a CS application, launch it and reactivate it.
    Please refer : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/known-issues-acrobat-xi-reader.html
Or you can try this :
Go to Applications->Utilities->Adobe Installers -> Adobe Acrobat X -> remove Acrobat X using the Uninstaller app.
Relaunch Acrobat XI and try to accept EULA.

  • Acrobat XI Pro - can't re-install/download after uninstalling due to login problem

I have had CS6 via Creative Cloud for a few months now and the last couple of days when I've opened Acrobat XI Pro it says it's installed on another machine and I need to log in. I log in and it says it's a mis-matched ID, even though it's not.
This is a work computer/licence and is only installed on this machine under my name. We thought it may be confused because we've got a few licences and there was a big confusion and muck up with Adobe when we first ordered and downloaded, and my boss is using his on his work and home computers. So I uninstalled Acrobat and thought I would be able to just go to the Application Manager and download/install again, but it's not available to download, I guess it thinks I've already got it. Can't do it via https://creative.adobe.com/apps either.
I have no problems like this with the other programs; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
How can I get Acrobat again?
    Thanks

A restore won't get rid of the problem!!! **** crappy ****.
Is there anyway to send this question too Apple? Or do i have to spend the next hours on the phone with Apple Support?!

  • Acrobat 9 Pro can't open zip attachment in Adobe tutorial PDF

I'd like to go through one of the CSS tutorials here on the Adobe site, and have downloaded the relevant PDF which includes a .zip attachment for the source files needed to follow the tut.
Problem is, Acrobat 9 Pro keeps telling me "Acrobat cannot open the file attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this type of file to be opened."
The Acrobat Help suggested fix - setting the file to allow it to open attachments - doesn't work. I also set StuffIt Expander to be the default app for expanding zip files in the Mac OS, to no avail.
Data point: I'm running the latest update of Leopard on one of the new MBPs.
The recalcitrant PDF is linked from this page: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/designing_for_web_05.html - "Getting your web design to the browser'.
Anybody else encountered the same problem and found a fix?
    Thanks,
    Peter

No product should force security on its users without providing them any practical way to override. Web browsers, email clients, and operating systems warn you of potentially dangerous files and then let the client make the choice. What if it's a zip file from a trusted source full of harmless text documents? Too bad - because Acrobat says so. Acrobat makes no attempt to examine the zip file to see if perhaps its contents are dangerous - it just sweepingly decides zips are far too dangerous to let the user have any voice in the matter. I fundamentally disagree.
Notice that I've attached a zip file to this post. Adobe allows zips on their forums but not in their PDF documents. Adobe: If you've deemed zip files safe enough to be hosted and delivered in your own forums, why have you decided they have no place in a PDF?
I think Adobe got this one wrong - and I cast a vote that they loosen the noose on zip files on a future release. I'd like to hear other users' thoughts on this issue. Adobe is good at listening to their users - so tell them what you think on this issue - I've posted this article as a feature request here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/520515 - reply to it that thread and share your viewpoint.

  • Acrobat XI Pro - can't edit a form from another version of Acrobat?

I've got a form I'm trying to edit to see how something worked with a form field.  However, I can open it just fine in XI Pro, but when I do a Forms/Edit I get the following popup message: "This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form."
I can open it just FINE on my old machine that has Acrobat 8 Pro with LiveCycle with no problem.
So, how is it that I can open AND edit this document in 8 Pro and not XI Pro??  I've been tinkering with a couple of different forms in XI Pro, and I assumed that LiveCycle must have been subsumed into Acrobat XI Pro itself, but this mystery would seem to indicate otherwise!
    Help?  Answers?  Thoughts?  Cookie recipes?
    Thanks!!

You will need to get LiveCycle Designer, which is now a separate product.
XFA forms created with LiveCycle Designer can be either static or dynamic. Static ones are very similar to forms created in Acrobat (AcroForms) in their behavior. Dynamic forms can have auto-expnding text fields, rows added to and removed from tables, entire sections generated and removed at run time, and a number of other dynamic behavior. So which you choose really depends on what your needs are. Many static XFA forms could be created as AcroForms with no loss in functionality. A big downside to XFA forms nowadays is the lack of PDF viewers for mobile devices that support them. AcroForms have always had more support in general.
JavaScript is used in both XFA and AcroForms, but each has it's own object models. XFA forms also support FormCalc, which isn't a full blown programming language like JavaScript, but it does have a number of useful features. The types of controls are pretty much the same, though an XFA forms support an image field and a good number of 1D barcode types with bar code fields.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro can't read out loud

I've always been able to use Acrobat's "Read Out Loud" feature to help me proof complex documents by having Acrobat read the PDF aloud while I read the original to check for discrepancies. Since upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended version 9.4.6 on Windows 7, I can't get the Read Out Loud feature to work. The document is fully tagged, the sound and speakers are working correctly. After activating the Read Out Loud feature (View->Read Out Loud->Activate Read Out Loud), when I select any of the options (e.g., Read This Page Only or Read to End of Document), Acrobat crashes. It doesn't matter if I'm using a PDF generated from Framemaker or one downloaded from Adobe's site.
I've read through Adobe's Help forums and can't find a solution. Has anyone had and successfully resolved this problem?:
    Carol

    Just some nattering -
Maybe a "Repair" of Acrobat 9 will resolve the issue.
May have to move into Acrobat X (first fully "made for Win 7").
    Be well...

  • Acrobat X Pro - can't simply deskew PDF docs

We run Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Windows 7 32-bit PCs).  No other versions are available.
I have a PDF file created several years ago from scanned pages.  These consist of text, line drawings, and some photographs.  All pages are gray-scale.
Some of the pages are skewed by 10-15 degrees.  I want to deskew them.  I do not want to compress or process anything else.
I have read dozens of web pages on how to do this, but none seem applicable.  My main efforts have been via Tools | Document Processing | Optimize Scanned PDF.  There I uncheck "Apply Adaptive Compression" and "Make Searchable".  Under Filters I set Deskew ON and the other three (Descreen etc) OFF.
-->  When I click on OK (Optimize Scanned PDF), every page is processed - but no deskew is applied.  The document appears identical to when I started.
Further info:  If I do enable "Apply Adaptive Compression", with other settings as above, the pages ARE deskewed.  However, my images are always degraded unacceptably, regardless of the compression options I try.
--> How can I have Acrobat X Pro simply deskew the document?
It's hard to believe that such a basic function would be totally broken.  I hope that I'm missing something.
    Thanks

I purchased Acrobat Pro XI last month to try to digitize all my text books (Scanned as TIFF and imported to PDF).  I've been pretty unimpressed in general.  Specifically to your question, it seems that if a page has a photo on it or some complex image, Acrobat won't deskew it.  My version updated just today to 11.0.06 and it still has this problem.  I think it does deskew when "Apply Adaptive Compression" is selected because that option causes each page to be broken into parts (text/image).
Just incase you haven't tried, on the Optimize Scanned PDF dialoge box, make sure the slider is set to "High Quality" instead of "Small Size", that may help with the image quality.  In my tests, I ended up leaving it turned up all the way.
I have finally put together a workflow to deal with the problem.  I use Acrobat to extract each page as a TIFF to a separate directory.  I use a third party program to deskew and crop the images.  I use Acrobat to reassemble them into a PDF.  I use Text Recognition/In this File (Searchable Image Exact) to do OCR.
I am pleased with the results though Acrobat tries to OCR a lot of images and I just get a bunch of jumbled invisible text on my images.  I don't mind it though cuz it's invisible, but pretty pathetic given the cost of this product.
I'll mention the third party program I use in a post below because I don't know if I'm allowed to post it or not.  I just don't want this post to be deleted for mentioning another program.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Acrobat XI Pro - can't add pages :(

I was using Acrobat 9 Pro - I could add pages easily. With XI - it hangs or crashes just before the screen "add pages before or after" - it's driving me mad - might uninstall it and go back to 9 which was quite stable. Lots of other new features/layouts I hate. Especially the small space available for tools you use regularly

  • Acrobat X Pro - can you export to a editable InDesign document?

I have a few pdf files containing multiple pages which I have got corrupted indesign files of. Does anyone know if the 5.5 version and X Pro can export the pdf back to a working indesign file?

There is no way to export an InDesign file from any version of Acrobat.
That said, there is pretty good (but not inexpensive) software from Recosoft called PDF2ID which can CONVERT PDF files to InDesign files. Conversion implies that it can do a pretty good job in most cases.
    http://www.recosoft.com/products/pdf2id/
According to the product description, "PDF2ID recreates the intended construction and layout of the document by forming paragraphs; applying styles; regrouping independent graphic elements; extracting images; creating tables; recovering annotations and other elements automatically. PDF2ID converts every page in a PDF file to an equivalent page in the resulting InDesign document."

  • Itunes music not showing after accepting user agreement?

I recently moved my itunes music to a new hard drive on my computer without any issues and it had been working fine for the last month or so but after starting up my computer today itunes has updated it's user agreement terms. After accepting the user agreement terms itunes started up but is not showing any of my music. I have the latest Itunes version 11.0.5.5 installed which was updated on the 17/8/2013. I also noticed today that Itunes has created a new itunes folder in the old location so I suspect that it is reading this library instead. How do I change the settings in itunes so it will show my music and artwork in the new location?
    Thanks,
