Acrobat 9 Pro & Office 2007 - No Color Text without Color Printer?

I have a number of legacy word documents (.doc) that I convert to PDF from Office 2007 using Acrobat 9 Professional.
These word documents have sections of text that are red. The documents also all have an embedded JPG in the header (company logo, also colored).
In all cases the red text is converted to black when creating the PDF but the logo stays color.  The only way to convert to PDF and maintain text color is to first select a color printer from the printer dialog box.
So, for each word document I need to create a PDF from, I first need to open the print dialog box, select some color printer and click "close."  Only then can I produce a PDF where both the logo and the text maintiain their original colors.
This behavior is new to Acrobat 9.  I never once had to change from my default (B&W laser) printer to a color printer before making a PDF.
Is there a solution?  Have I missed some easy step here or is this the expected behavior now?

Sorry, I'm printing using the PDFMaker Office Add-in (toolbar).
[[You might also check the Adobe PDF printer properties to be sure you  have not changed that to B&W.]]
If the printer properties were B&W then the color JPG (logo) would be B&W in the PDF, but it's not, it's color.  It's only the text that is B&W.  But, of course, I double-checked (to be sure) and confirmed that it is set to color.
[[ If you are using PDF Maker, you might select the Adobe PDF printer  first]]
Well, that's why I'm posting the question.  Why would I need to change printers in order to create the PDF when, since version 4, I never had to do this?  I'd like to figure out what has happened and how to fix it.

  • Reinstalled Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 won't let me print web pages to PDFs

I'm really ticked at Adobe's "help" in updating the program only to cause a lot of misery.  I'd read Acrobat had a security update, and got a constant reminder from Adobe update to install the available update.  I've been using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with absolutely no problems printing web pages to PDFs.  I installed the 8.1.7 update which immediately disabled Acrobat completely.  So I wasted a lot of time uninstalling Acrobat and reinstalling sequential versions to get back to 8.1.6.  Now I can't print web pages to a PDF.
I had NOT done anything else to installed programs in the meantime, except that probably Norton has automatically updated antivirus files in the background.  I don't have any problems using Acrobat to open and print an existing PDF, or to create new PDFs from my scanner.  I can do a hardcopy print of a webpage by selecting my Brother printer.  From Word 2002 and Excel 2002, I can create a PDF by "printing" to Acrobat as usual.   The only problem is creating a PDF by "printing" a webpage by selecting Acrobat as the device from the list of available printers.  This problem happens both with Firefox and with Internet Explorer 7.
I have Windows XP Pro SP3.  I did the most recent Windows Tuesday security update several days before messing around with Acrobat and did not have any problems printing PDF files from Firefox or IE7.  So, it seems like it's clearly an Adobe Acrobat problem.  I get the small box saying "Preparing to Print" which goes nowhere and then I have to use the Task Manager to get out of the loop.  That closes Firefox, and when I reopen Firefox, the same webpage comes up.

  • Acrobat Pro 9, blank lines in text boxes vanish upon save

    Folks,
Since I upgraded from Acrobat Pro 8 to 9, whenever I put blank lines in a text box, the blank lines disappear as soon as the PDF is saved.
    Here's an example:
    - Open a PDF file
    - Click on text box tool in the toolbar (or from menu Comments->Comments and markup Tool->Text box tool
    - Draw a box on the PDF page somewhere
    - Enter "First line", then hit Return twice to add a blank line below, enter "Second line"
    - Right now my text box contains two lines of text separated by a blank line
    - Hit save
    - Blank line vanishes in the text box. Now the two text lines are on adjacent rows.
This did not happen in either Acrobat Pro 7 or 8. I've been using textboxes consistently for years without this silly behavior.
Any suggestions? I've looked through forums and knowledge bases and such to no avail.
I have acrobat pro version 9.0.0 running on XPSP3.
    Thanks!

    Hello Petros,
I figured out how to make this work, at least on my computer.  Hold CTRL key and hit ENTER.  This leaves the space.  Hope this works for you.

I've uninstalled acrobat and reinstalled with the same result when I attempt to create a pdf.
does anyone have a fix for this?
    thanks in advance.

Try using the Microsoft product for Office 2007 instead of Acrobat

  • Upgraded from xp to windows 8.1. I reinstalled office 2007 and Adobe CS3. Cannot print to pdf.

I recently upgraded from Windows XP PRO  to Windows 8.1 64 bit professionsal. I reinstalled Microsoft Office 2007 Professional and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium.
Office no longer prints to PDF, and Acrobat does not open Office documents. I did extract the AdobePDF.dll_64 from the data.cab file, changed the name to AdobePDF.dll and used it in the install of Acrobat 8.0.
Is there a solution to this problem?
    Thanks for any help.

You may have a better chance to get a helpful reply if you ask in the Acrobat forum.

  • Why might Google's Chrome browser (~IExp) impose colored text's coloring on neighboring black text?

Might anyone else here have the problem I have whereby in the Google Chrome browser (but not in Microsoft's Internet Explorer), some of my black text (without permission) appears in the same color as nonblack / colorized text that's contained in the same paragraph?   I don't use CSS or even templates, so that doesn't appear to be the problem.   What's particularly puzzling is how repeat attempts to modify the text color using Dreamweaver CS5.5's
    Format-->Color
feature fail to resolve all of the problem.  All the while, the problem doesn't even emerge when viewing the text in Microsoft's Internet Explorer.   Any suggestions, please?

CSS concerns me because a change in one locale can affect numerous pages,
That's not a reason to avoid CSS.  If you use embedded CSS (in the <head> tags of your HTML documents), it is page specific; not site wide.
In 2012, CSS is the only "web standards" way to style text.  HTML styles are deprecated (obsolete) and often throw validation errors which confuse web standards compliant browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera.  IE is not a standards compliant browser and never has been.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X 10.1.7 (Mac) does not print correctly.

I have a Mac Pro (Model 1.1) with Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.7.  When an item is scanned, it appears correctly on the screen, but it does not print correctly.  I am sending along screenshots of what a scanned item looks like on the screen and then what prints.

Thanks Michael, have tried that, no luck. I will wait a couple of days to see if any other solutions come up (or if anyone else is suddenly having the same issue) before reinstalling Acrobat.
[OK just tried sending a PDF attachment directly from another program (MYOB) through to Mac Mail and had the same problem so it is not an Acrobat issue afterall, it is a Mac Mail or Mac OS X issue. Will post this on the Apple site.]
I have resolved the MYOB issue, it was working just painfully slow. So I still have the original Acrobat Pro PDF to Mac Mail issue if anyone knows of any solutions please?

  • Acrobat Pro 9.5.4 Update causes PDF to print more like a web page

Something changed from 9.5.3 to 9.5.4 such that PDFs opened within a browser (FireFox) now print more like a web page.  This has caused several issues.
    1. Printing now uses the header/footer printing preferences of the browser.  All PDF's I print from within the browser print with the URL in the upper right, time/date in the lower right and all the other header/footer preferences in the browser.  This was never the case before.
    2. Font sizes and text location are different.  We print checks, invoices from PDF's generated within our business system.  These are now misaligned compared to what they have been because of this change.
It's possible this is related to a browser update but I haven't pinned this down yet.  I'm using Firefox 19.0, Windows 7, 32 bit.
    Any insights are appreciated.

    Hi,
This is not happening because of Acrobat update but the reason for this change is that Firefox 19.0 has introduced  its own Javascript PDF viewer.
You can change the settings in browser to use Acrobat plugin for viewing PDF files. Go to Options->Application to chnage the settings, please see attached screenshot for more details.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Thanks.

  • Office 2007 attachments getting corrupted in PO Print Program

    HI SRM Experts,
We are having SRM 5.0 Classic Scenario and EHP 4.0 ECC 6.0, we have a customized PO Print Program which after PO approval send notification to vendor & requestor of cart with the attachments.
We are facing problem that when requester attaches MS 2007 attachments(having 4 characters as extension) it is converting these into default 3 character extension and thus they get corrupted. I have already made settings in DMS (DC30).
Can anyone please help here to know if any SAP note is there for the same as I feel that we cannot change the ABAP program/code mentioned in standard Function module. Here is my finding after the debugging:
The Function module 'CV120_KPRO_MASTER_DATA_GET' is responsible for returning the document type.
It is returning the extension in field dappl of table ptx_data which is of type CHAR3.
So it is not accepting the extension of CHAR4.

  • Acrobat Pro XI, Server 2012 r2 Remote Desktop, cannot print until server reboot, No Pages Selected

Ever since we migrated to terminal services (remote desktop) this problem has plagued us.
We are a terminal services environment with 25 users.
Our version of Adobe is 11.0.10
I've believe I have traced the issue to temp files in \users\username\appdata\local\temp\XX
There are [email protected] files that the system locks.
Once those files are written out and the server locks them down the user cannot print .pdf files any longer.
    ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS WORK PERFECTLY!
The only way to clear the situation is to reboot the server (not optimal).
And even then the problem reappears within a day.
I have read many different versions of this problem and tried many different solutions.
I have tried having the users go the advanced tab when printing and choose "print as image"
    FAIL!
I have put a acroct.ini with the following parameters in the windows directory
    [WinFntSvr]
    TTToSysPrintDisabled=1
    T1ToTTDisabled=1
    FAIL!
I have tried to remove Microsoft security updates related to this issue and 3rd party fonts.
    FAIL!
I've tried the "Disable Protected Mode at Startup"
    FAIL!
I have rebuilt our print server with the latest drivers.
    FAIL!
Since we deal with thousands of .pdf files on a daily basis this has become CRITICAL!
    Please Help!
