Acrobat 9 Pro: Printing Menu Painfully Slow
Hi folks, new here and first post... I'm having problems with my Adobe Pro V9. When I click the print icon, or select print, the dialogue box for the print menu is painfully slow to come up. Even on small size, low resolution documents it can take over 60 secs for the print dialogue screen to come up.
Does anyone know why this is the case? Can and how can it be fixed?
One of the IT guys here gave me a big load of tosh about why it does this but I know from experience that it has got worse since first install and that some documents spool up really quickly. Feedback and advice much appreciated.
I have had some issues, but nothing as bad as you. It may be that your file has a lot of graphics or such.
There appears to be a lot of preprocessing going on before the actual print that becomes the problem.

Acrobat 9 Pro printing very slow
Dear All,
I have recently installed Acrobat 9 Pro on Mac OS 10.6 Snow Tiger. Works fine, but is incredibly slow in printing. Spooling takes ages.
The same files printed with Adobe Reader or Mac Preview print instantly (it's only text files, nothing heavy).
I have made sure that the "print as image" option is deselected. This happens with any printer (I have tried it on an HP LJ1300, an HP LJ2055, an Aficio 5000, Aficio 2000, and a Xerox Workcenter - so I suppose it has to do with Acrobat, not with the printer).
Thanks
AndreaFor both of you See if there is a new print Driver version for your printer.
For the person with OSX.6 (Snow Leopard) do the following to install.
go to printer Utility and Delete the current Driver from list (after downloading latest Driver from Manufacturer).
install new Driver perinstaller.
Open Printer Utility
look for the new Printer listing and select.
Choose new Printer Listing as Your default Printer
close Printer Utility.
Go to System Preferences
Click Printing & Faxing (if still named that in SnowLeopard)
Choose your new printer Driver as default there as well.
close System Prefernces
Your now set to use the latest Driver -
Adobe acrobat X pro printing issues
I purchased Adobe Acrobat X pro and it was installed on Windows 7/64 bits PC.
I have issues with printing into PDF file for web page. It seems that if I click "convert to PDF" icon on Explorer, it does not have problem converting a web page into PDF. However, if I right mouse click on "print" on a web site, I get a "postscript error" message on Notepad" instead of generating PDF file. With a different web site, it did create a PDF file, but some characters were totally garbage, totally illegible. But it did create a PDF with no problem at all for a certain web page. I had a similar problem with a previous version of Acrobat Pro, but this time it is more extreme.
Am I not supposed to use right mouse click on "print" in order to generate PDF files at all? Do I have to use "Create PDF-from a web page" menu to successfully generate PDF files, but not on "print" using right mouse? Or is this problem occuring specific to Windows 7/64 bits PC? But Acrobat X pro is supposed to work with 64 bits.
I do not seem to have any problems converting files, such as Word, Excel, or JPEG into PDF files so far....
Any suggestion is grealy appreciated.
HenryWe are unable to reproduce the issue at my end. We are able to print fine using both PS and PCL printers. Could you please let me know the exact make of the printer at your end? Also, let me know whether you are using a PS driver or a PCL driver.
Thanks,

Acrobat 9 Pro, v9.5.5 Slow to Load
my issue is acrobat 9 pro, v9.9.9 is slow to load (take 45 to over 100 seconds to either load from Start menu of file manager
- Window 7 Home Premium, sp1, 64 bit
- acrobat has been installed for years, this started with 9.5.4 and is the same under 9.5.5
- have not loaded any new software
- event viewer does not show any "errors" happening as I open Acrobat
- when I try to close Acrobat it shows that Acrobat has stopped responding so something is "hanging up" but no indication what that might be
I would appreciate thoughts on what to try or look at next -
Thanks
Jamiecheck your running processes and terminate them in an organized way to determine which process is causing the problem.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Printer Drivers does not pass windows logo testing.
Issue:
I'am using the Acrobat Wizard tool to customize Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to run create Adobe installed to run siliently within our network but I recieve the following hardware prompt to complete the install.
During the install of the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro I recieve a Hardware Installation prompt:
The software you are installing for this hardware:
Printer
Has not passed Windows Logo testing to verfiy its compatibility with Windows XP.
Continue your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.
Is there any way I can download the drivers before I run the installation or is there a patch for Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
Thanks
John TWhen I start itunes i get the message "Itunes was not properly installed if you wish to burn Cds you will need to reinstall itunes" Any ideas what i should do anyone?
That sounds like the GEAR drivers that iTunes uses for burning and importing aren't going in properly. (or there's damaged GEAR drivers for an old install stuck on the PC.
Perhaps manually uninstalling and reinstalling the GEAR drivers can get you past this. There's instructions for that on the GEAR wiki:

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro: Printing Preferences display issue
Hi everyone,
A user reported an issue with the PDF Printer Preferences drop-down menus running outside the window and that there should be more checkboxes below the three that are showing (see screenshots).
Here is a screenshot of this same window on a coworker's machine (same version of Adobe and Windows).
We are using Windows XP SP3. Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.3.1), and current video driver. The resolution is currently set to max, but I tried a few other resolutions but they made no difference on how the PDF Printing Preferences displayed. I've tried repairing, uninstalling, restarting, and then reinstalling but none have done the trick yet. I also have checked the DPI settings and it is set to Normal.
If you have any advise, please let me know.
Thanks!SOLUTION:
The issue was somehow related to DPI (START > Settings > Control Pannel > Display > Settings Tab > Advanced button). Eventhough the DPI was set to normal, I switched it to LARGE, restarted the machine, logged in after the reboot, changed it back to normal size, restarted again, logged in once more, checked the Printer Preferences and PRESTO --- a properly displayed window. -
Acrobat 9 Pro - Print Number of Copies
At times I want to print to paper 2, 3, or 4 copies of the same document. With the printer window opened, it allows me to select the quantity, but when I click OK to proceed to print I received another popup window reading:
The printer cannot support this many copies.
Number of copies will be set to printer maximum of 1.
What/Where/How do I find the setting to resolve this issue?

Adobe Tech Support REFUSES to provide any support for my 1-month old AUTHENTIC, activated and registered product !!!Bill... do not misunderstand my words as your views are not my intentions. Take into account, there is a difference between asking the OP, "Have you checked the Print Drivers", and or, "If so, what did you learn?"; rather than telling the OP what the issue is before all facts are gathered, then becoming defensive or insulted.
Example:
I am cooking. I taste the food and say, "Something doesn't taste right. You say, "You didn't add salt". I respond, "I did, it's not salt, it must be something else". Instead of asking first if I added salt, or offering another suggestion, you are insulted and or become defensive. Case in point.
I hope this cleared up your unjustified comment.
Back on subject:
I posted the screen-shot on the fly and first time using this forum and its UI. When it is clicked on, it expands (as you saw). After it expands. Change the "Zoom Level" on your screen to find the correct resolution. Hint - It tells no more than the words in my original post.
Thanks for your help. I'm going to sleep before the sun comes up. Have a happy Sunday. -
Lightroom 5.4 and Acrobat XI Pro - print contact sheet to PDF not working
Since upgrading to Lightoom 5 and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I have been unable to print a contact sheet to PDF. Although it goes through the motions of rendering and providing a "save as" dialog box, nothing is produced. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the quick reply. The following are my system specs. This feature has worked in the past but since upgrading from LR4 to LR5, this feature has stopped working. I can print to a printer, but not to a PDF.
HP Z800 Workstation
Duel Intel Xeon X5670 @ 2.93GHz Processors
18 GB RAM
Windows 7 Professional
Lightroom 5.4
Acrobat XI Pro (Version 11.0.06.70)
It will go through the motions, as if it is creating the PDF, but it doesn't output anything. I've restarted Lightroom and rebooted my system, but nothing seems to help. -
I have used Acrobat 8 Pro for many years with no problems. Yesterday, when I went to print a document, it auto scrolled down to Microsoft XPS document writer. I could not select my installed Brothers Printer.
I have also encountered auto scroll issues when opening my C drive.
I have installed Adobe Acrobat 8 updates, have run virus and malware software programs and they show no infections.
Nothing I have tried corrects this issue.
Has anyone else run into this ?
Any suggestions as to how this issue can be corrected?
Thanks,Hi Auto5starz,
For the printer issue ,please take the following steps to have a check :
1. Run the tool in the link to have a check
Troubleshoot printer problems
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-HK/windows/printer-problems-in-windows-help#fix-printer-problems=windows-7&v1h=win8tab2&v2h=win7tab3&v3h=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1
2.Clear the spooler cache to have a check .
a. Search “Service.msc” and navigate to “Printer Spooler” service and stop it.
b. Look for this folder "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" and delete all files in it.
c. Restart “Printer Spooler” service.
3.Update the printer driver or reinstall it ,you may need to download the manufacturer driver for it.
For the second issue ,apart from Rob`s suggestion ,please reset the Internet Explorer to have a check .( Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab>Reset)
Best regards -
On many documents that I try and print from the internet such as receipts, conformations, etc, using my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional printer, the PDF shows some if not all the letters as symbols. I think it might be font issue, but do not know how to fix the problem. Any suggestions.
On another issue, can a Tiff file of my signature be inserted in a PDF?Hello,
For 1st issue please follow the steps in given article:
Missing or Garbled Text Printing from IE9 to Adobe PDF Printer
For 2nd issue:
You can create a signature appearance:
For example, you can include your scanned signature.
1 (Optional) Save the desired image on a page by itself, and convert the page to PDF.
2 Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat (Mac OS) > Preferences, and select Security.
3 Click New, and type a title.
4 (Optional) Select Imported Graphic, click File, and select the desired file.
5 Specify options as desired.

Acrobat Reader X print menu functionality missing
I am running XP Pro serv pk 3 and just today 8-25-11, I noticed that Reader looks brand new-? So when I go to print, I find that now I cannot set a page range. The cursor goes in the field but will not let me change anything. As I indicated, I know for a fact that the "look" of the program is totally new, and when I check the date of the program folder (both ADOBE ACROBAT 10.1.0 PROFESSIONAL and STANDARD are there) the date says 8-10-11. My company rolls out updates all the time but this problem is definitely brand new today(it worked yesterday).
I could not find this on the known issues page and would really appreciate any input from anyone who may be aware of it.
Thanks, DCThanks for the clarification.

Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Printer Problem
When I export my *.doc to a *.PDF using Word, the *.PDF generated displays correctly on my computer but prints incorrectly on my printer. Whole sections of text will not show up on the physical printout. All my software is up to date. Please help.
Check to see if the printer in Acrobat is set to document and markup. It may be that the information being printed has been restricted. When you say export, what do you mean. There is no export as such in WORD, only print to the Adobe PDF printer, Save As Adobe PDF, Save As PDF & other (the MS plugin), and the Adobe menu for create PDF (this is PDF Maker). The last comment may not be the issue for you, but is a clarification question on how you got the PDF.

Acrobat 9 Pro Printing Problem
I have a problem with printing in Acrobat 9 Professional. I am printing to a Canon imageRunner C3220 color laser printer, using PS3 driver. My OS is Windows XP Pro x64 2003 SP2.
Only the first page of multipage PDFs will print. I have checked Acrobat print settings as well as the printer's settings, and all seems to be correct. I sent a sample document to a co-worker and she printed it using Reader without a problem. The majority of the documents I create eventually become PDFs. This would be a serious problem if there is no solution.
Acrobat 8 worked fine. Any help would be appreciated.Chuck,
I just went to the Canon website. For your printer, some of the printer
boards use Adobe PS3 and some of the printer boards use emulation. Can
you check to see which you have?
