Acrobat 9 Pro - Text Distortion on adding background

Hello,
I hope someone can help me with this as it's driving me up the wall!
In ye olde days of version 8 my work flow used to go like this:
Write XYZ in MS Word 2007.
Export to PDF.
Open up exported PDF and see the crisp and soft lovelyness of my chosen none standard font displayed in front of me.
I would then add our companies background to all the pages in the PDF (a PDF I created full page from Illustrator CS3).
Pop the front and rear covers on.
Send to a client or whatever.
Now we have upgraded to Acrobat 9 I have a bit of an issue.
I go along the same route and all is fine until I add the background (I can even add the pages in before the background and it's fine).
As soon as the background is added the font goes from crisp and smooth to bolder and jaggier and no matter what I do I just can't clean it out.
At the moment we have only had to send out one document like this, but they are backing up until I can get this fixed, it's not something we can realistically show to a client when we are supposed to be graphic designers and pride ourselves on our output.
Any ideas?
Regards
Paul

Thanks for your suggestion! That actually did work pretty well.
I had set up all the fields as non-rich text, cut and pasted the text into the fields, and then change the fields back to rich text to format them (ie superscript, subscript etc).
Unfortunately, now I'm faced with another problem.
I won't be able to add more "unformatted" text later on easily. It appears that to do so, I would have to change the fields to non-rich text which wipes out all the formatting I've already applied.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Trish

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Text Color

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 pro and I have a PDF document that I would like to type in this form.  Under Name, I would use Typewriter to type my name there.  However, the text color is black.  I want to change the text color to some other color so the text stands out in the form.  I don't see any way to change the text color.
The PDF document was a scanned document that I want to fill in the fields such as Name, Date,  Building, etc....  Should I use Typewriter or Text box to enter fill in those fields?  Once those fields have been field in, how do I change the text color?

    Hi pjfisher14,
In Acrobat 9, to change the color of your Typewriter text, you have to use the Typewriter toolbar.
To show the typewriter toolbar, select Tools > Typewriter > Show typewriter toolbar.
One of the items on the toolbar is the text color setting.
The easiest thing to do is select the typewriter tool, select your text color on the typewriter toolbar and then type your text.
If you have already typed some text, you can change the color by doing the following:
Change to the regular section tool.
Triple-click on the typewriter text that you have already types. A triple-click should highlight all the text. The typewriter toolbar will now activate and you can change the text color.

  • How to copy/paste as unformatted text in Acrobat 9 Pro text field?

    Hi all,
I'm having difficulty copying/pasting text from another source as unformatted text in an interactive PDF text field in Acrobat 9 Pro. I have specified the font size, colour and typeface for the text field. However, when I copy and paste text, the text retains its formatting. Strangely enough, this isn't an issue when I type out the text.
I'm really not keen on typing out all the text for all the text fields because:
    there's alot of it
    waste of my time
    potentially introducing typos
    Any ideas?

  • Acrobat XI Pro: Text boxes empty after combining PDF files

I have a user when she combines a few documents only one document is missing some text in text boxes that were showing up before.  Here is a screen shot of the two files:
The document on the left is what occurs after the files have been combined, the document on the right is the original document.  I spoke with tech support, they told me to take the original pdf document then print it to the adobe pdf printer and select the option to print it as an image.  Then when we combined the files it was working fine.  I also took the original Excel 2010 document that the right document in the image came from, printed that to the Adobe PDF printer and made sure it printed it as an image.  Then after combining them it worked once more.  My problem is the user didn't have to print the excel doc to an image, she would just have to click on the Acrobat tab in Excel and tell it to create a pdf doc.  So is there a setting I'm missing?

I tried uninstalled Acrobat XI and installed Acrobat X but the problem still exists.  I spoke with my user some more and found that if she leaves out one of the documents from the combining process this issue does not occur. So either this is a font incompatibility or that document that was left out is corrupt.  Any thoughts?

I have created a form in acrobat 9 pro. I have added a submit button and set the action to mailto:(my email address). I have uploaded my form to my website but the submit button is not working. • Adding Text to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I just downloaded the trial version of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.  I want to add text to fill out an online .pdf application form.  The problem is that that when I try to access the text box tool, it is greyed out.  Can anybody help me with this?
    Thanks in advance.

No, I can't.  I am trying to fill out an application that I downloaded off of the internet.  I thought I could simply click in the area where I need to type but it won't let me.  When I use my cursor it places the cursor next to the text and then when I try to type nothing happens.
But in answer to your first question, all I want to do is add text, whichever the easiest way it is do that the better!   I have attached the form if that helps.  thanks for responding.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro adding a blank page on conversion from Word 2010

Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help.  I'm converting a Word 2010 document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.5.4).  On conversion to PDF, a blank page is being added, throwing the entire report off.  In word, there is a Section Break (Next Page) at the end of the first page, and the text continues on the second.  On conversion, it is after this section break that the blank page apears (i.e., between pages 1 and 2 of the document).  I've been back and forth through the document, tried to use a Continuous Section Break instead (Word just converts it to a page break again), making sure there's only one break, etc., and cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix this problem.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Text Not Lining Up Properly in Fillable Form | Acrobat 9 Pro

I have a number of documents that were created in MS Word and then I converted them to PDF through Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. A number of those documents have text fields that the end user will type their data into - example: a message area on a fax cover sheet.
The original Word document has that area lined such as this:
When that area (as shown above) is converted as a field in the "add fields" to the form in Adobe Acrobat I am deleting out the individual fields Adobe "detects" and instead making it one large content box.
Under properties I have "multi-line" and "scroll long text" selected.
Now the problem....for some unknown reason....some fields are working perfectly that when we type into the PDF fillin form that the text that is typed lines up perfectly with the lines (as shown above). In other instances it's not lining up at all.
I have played with font size, font type, spacing on the original Word document.I have scoured the internet and the forums with no success (either no one else is asking or I'm not using the proper search terms).
Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?
I've also included a screenshot of the document so you can see the wackiness.

You don't have direct control of the leading of a multiline text field. A common approach is to control the background color of the field with JavaScript since the lines are not really needed when the field is used in Reader/Acrobat. They may be useful when using the form by hand. • Acrobat 9 Pro - Pale Yellow Background?

I have seen similar threads to this before but never with a satisfactory explanation/resolution so I'm going to try again! When printing .pdf documents opened using Acrobat 9 Pro to a Lexmark laser colour printer, I get certain areas of text/image printing with a pale yellow background - this seems particularly to apply to parts of the documents which were originally .jpeg images or template text, or in extreme cases for a scanned image which has been converted to .pdf the whole of the document background can be pale yellow! This seems to be a transparency issue related to the settings in Acrobat 9 Pro, because if I open the same documents using Acrobat Reader 8 and print to the same printer using the same print settings then the problem disappears and the backgrounds are white (transparent?) as normal. This is a maddening problem!! All it seems to need is the right settings clicking in Acrobat 9 Pro to set the transparency to the right level, but I can't find what they are - can anybody help?

    Hi All - Breaking news.
I Tried an experiment. The pictures and logo in question were all "Jpg's" I saved my logo as a "gif" and it does not now have the yellow background problem in either word or when I convert to a PDF.
    Can someone please advise me..
When I am making logo's or images and or photographs for print and the web, what is the best format to save them in. (please bear in mind that I am an enthusiastic amature.
Thanks to every one who has contributed. I am eternally greatful, thank you all so much for your support.

  • Align Text In Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hi,
Hope you can help. I just got Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I figured out how to edit text in a PDF, but when I do it does not keep the text centered.
    How can I center text?
    Thanks.

Acrobat in of itself is not a text Editor. If you need to make serious cahnges to your PDF you need to edit in original application the remake the PDF.
Acrobat does have a text touch up tool that does allo you to correct  spelling of a word by clicking at the end of the word back spacing then retyping word. But if involes more than two additional letters at the most it will altar the line spacing. You can select the word and click on properties and change things as leading  and such wher you can copress the space the word takes up. But if you need to do that on more than one or two items at the most, your better off redoing the PDF from the original after correcting mistakes.
On forms created you can make cahnges and update by making corrections in original save as a different name then chose document and choose replace with and it will update corrections without distrubing the the form elements you have created. (unless you added aditional elements).

  • Question about editing text for Acrobat 9 pro...

I recently switched to Vista and Acrobat 9 pro and everytime I go to edit my PDF I use the "text touch-up" tool just like I should yet the tool just shifts and distorts the text without actually replacing or deleting any of the text.  Has anyone encountered/know how to fix this problem?  Thank You.

Such problems are not new with AA9. Editing has always been hit and miss. It may be that if you tried to edit one of the files you used to work on, things would work fine and it is simply the particular file at hand. I will not deny that there may be changes to the methods in AA9 that make things worse, but it never was great.

  • How do you grey out a radio button if a text field is blank in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?

How do you grey out a radio button if a text field is blank in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
So this what I'm trying to do:
    (     )   |TEXT FIELD|
    (     )   |TEXT FIELD|
    (     )   |                  |
    (     )   |TEXT FIELD|
    I have a radio button: (     )
    and a text field: |TEXT FIELD|
The third text field is blank, and I would like for the radio button next to it greyed out (user can't click on it) since the text field is blank. Is this possible to achieve? I'm assuming I'll have to use javascript, but what would the code be and would it be entered in the javascript editor for the text field or the radio button?
    Thanks in advance guys

Hey, thanks, but it didn't work
I have the text fields as read only. Could that be why it's not working? Should I make the fields not read only?
    Thanks,

  • Text spacing goes crazy after editing a pdf in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

Recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from 7.  I have old pdf documents that need minor editing.  When I edit text with Text Touchup tool, I get an error that font substitution taking place, usually  TimesNewRoman Postscript to just TimesNewRoman.  Once I save the pdf, text throughout the entire document is spaced randomly, i.e. "Doc    ument is n    o     t     fo   m    atted  correctly".  I do not have the original source documents to re-scan or recreate the PDF.  If I create a new document using 9, I embed my fonts or I get the same problem.  I can't do this with the hundreds of old documents I have.  Is there a fix? I have tried Adobe Tech support via email with no response.
I am using Distiller to print to pdf.
I am using Vista Home Premium (ugh!) but tried it on an XP system with same results.
All my documents are text, and were OCR'd using Abbyy FineReader originally.

Thanks for the input, but I don't have the originals in either hardcopy or OCR'd files.  My workaround is to re-OCR the pdf, make the changes I need and then save to PDF.  This makes a lot more work.  I am really trying to figure out what changed in 9 from 7 that causes this to happen.  I believe it is an issue with the fonts, was just hoping for a fix.
The edits to these documents are minor, like removing some highlighting or taking away a few words of colored text, but they are necessary, just very unhappy that it now can take hours to do something it used to take minutes to do.

    i am on a Windows 7 professional PC, 64-bit.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Email printed to PDF, PDF appears accurate in Acrobat XI Pro, when PDF printed to paper text missing

    HELP!!!
I have text disappear from Outlook emails printed to PDF when I print the PDF files from Acrobat XI Pro to a printer.
Here is a sample png from the PDF file printed out of Outlook - all the text is showing.
However when I print the PDF from Acrobat to a printer, the document comes out of the printer with text missing as shown:
The Acrobat print window shows all of the text that should be there as does Acrobat's view of the document.
Also, if I save the file to an image, all of the text is there.
I have tried different emails as well as different printers and the paper printed copies of the PDF emails are always missing text.
Additionally I have tried coverting the PDF file to a PDF/A file and printing that and the same problems occur.
Please send some tips as to how I can fix this!

    Hello Atul -
i am having similar printing issues with Acrobat 10.1.4.
in my case both PDFs made by me (from InDesign files) and other PDFs made elsewhere and sent to me are missing text when printed to paper -though they look fine both on-screen and in the preview pane, as Katy noted above.
these PDFs print fine when i open and print from an older version of Acrobat (9.5.2).
they will also print fine from 10.1.4 if i send them to another printer in the office, (a Dell Color Laser 3110cn), the printer i have a problem with is a Kyocera Mita KM-5053 - which leads me to believe that this is some kind of communication error between Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 and this printer, or perhaps a driver issue. ?
I don't believe it's merely a preferences/print settings problem as i've gone pretty carefully through all the dialog boxes that seem relevant and have had no luck in solving the problem. Also, the text that's missing seems arbitraty - meaning, it's not merely hyperlinks or certain layers or text in specific type faces that won't print -it's content in the same text box, where other text does print, and it's blacks and colors and various point sizes - in short there are no easily discernable unifying circumstances among the text that does not print.
obvioulsy an easy work around is to just print to the other printer or use the older version of Acrobat, but my concern is more that other people may be experiencing the same issues with PDFs i send them. so if it is a problem in the way i'm generating PDFs (although, as i said, text is also missing from PDFs i have received from other people and printed) i'd like to fix it quickly, so that people trying to print my PDFs don't end up with critical content missing.
i'm on a 2008 MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, and using the Acrobat (X Pro v 10.1.4) that came with the CS6 Design & Web Premium package - although i'm looking at it online now and it's listed as Acrobat XI Pro..
any input you have would be much appreciated.
    thank you,
    bethany
