Acrobat 9 Pro Thumbnails not embedding

Hi
A problem I am having is that when I embed thumbnails in a pdf, they aren't embedding. If I scroll down the pages window I have to wait for them to appear. And if I rotate one of the pages, the thumbs again disappear and I have to wait again.
Anyone else have this? or know a solution?

I hit the same problem except I had a Reader X installed not a pro version.  For me the solution was to really make sure that nothing else was running.  I followed the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso2 the link is goofy so here is the pertinent text:

  • Acrobat Pro XI not working at all in Windows7 64bit - tried everything

I am using Acrobat Pro XI not working at all in Windows7 64bit - tried everything. About a month ago I built new computer. Acrobat worked fine. In last week it started not producing PDFs using Save As and would crash when processing scanned document. So I redownloaded exe file, used the acrocleaner to erase existing program, and reloaded Acrobat Pro XI.
No the program will not start at all. Freezes when opening by clicking PDF file or by opening program icon.
    plz help

    Hi dufflebag123,
Please try the following basic troubleshooting steps:
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref :  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )

  • Adobe acrobat pro is not supported on this architecture

adobe acrobat pro is not supported on this architecture i have cs4 me

I had this problem yesterday. An odd thing had happened, and a folder within the FCP had been corrupted somehow and was broadcasting that it was a .mov file, when it was in fact a folder.
The folder in question was the "MacOS" folder within the FCP application file. I created a new folder, moved the contents of the corrupted folder into the new folder, deleted the corrupted folder, and renamed the new folder MacOS.
    And it works again.
Thanks to Zebulun, Jon Chappell, and Shane Ross for helping find a solution...

  • My Acrobat Pro will not open my PDF Files any suggestions?

My acrobat pro does not open, anyone else out there with the same problem?

Sherbear2359 (I believe that the US has the right to arm bears so I will be very nice.)
My Adobe Acrobat stopped opening pdfs. Now in the past it was Windows 8.1 playing tricks by thinking that the Adobe software was a trial which expired
Doesn't launch after 30 days | Installed as part of a CS6 suite Tried it and it worked.
Tried the fix again now no change.
I suspect that a Microsoft patch stuffed it up. They have had a few problems.
I used Reader with open with but I want pdf to be opened by Adobe.
    Thanks

    Hi Scott,
    1. What is the version of Acrobat and Operating System?
    2. Have you tried repairing the product? if not then Go to Help -> Repair Acrobat Installation.

  • I installed acrobat pro on my computer, and now I am unable to download items because I get a message that I need to open acrobat for the user agreement. opening acrobat pro does not help.

I installed acrobat pro on my computer, and now I am unable to download items because I get a message that I need to open acrobat for the user agreement. opening acrobat pro does not help. What do i do?

I have not contacted Adobe. I am using acrobat pro CC, and haven't noticed any problem with the software itself. The only problem I have had so far is when I try to download.

  • Acrobat Pro will not install

Okay, excuse my lack of patience. But I have now called Adobe customer servic (in India, and I'm in the U.S.) three times now, and I have not resolved this issue! I am a Creative Cloud member, and my Adobe Acrobat Pro will NOT work. On top of that, the Adobe Application Manger is $%@ useless. I get errors constantly. I'm on Mac OS 10.8.1. My other Adobe software works. But Acrobat Pro has not worked at all since I purchase Creative Cloud a few months ago. At any point, if Adobe would like to fix this issue, that would be great. Like I said, I've already called three times in the last two months. And the low level tech support guys are useless. I spend an hour or two on the phone with them and the issue is NOT resolved.

So, it totally appears as if it was a network issue. The corporate network where I work is quite likely the culprit. Where I was thrown off is that since I have admin rights on my computer, I can install software. But using Adobe Application Manager to install Adobe software wasn't working. And to make matters worse, there didn't appear to be any way to install Acrobat Pro for Mac without using AAM. The workaround that I used previously was to install the trial versions of Adobe software, and then just register them using my username and password. But the workaround for being able to install everything using AAM was to bring my computer home and download from my home network. Unfortunately, Adobe tech support didn't suggest this during the three times that I called them. But it doesn't matter now, problem is resolved.

  • Acrobat Pro V7 not opening pdfs

Acrobat Pro V7 not opening pdfs - just started happening. are there some preferances that can be trashed etc? don't tell me this will require a full reload?

    ok I tried that but still get;
"a required component was not found. PLease restore the Adobe Acrobate folder from your original CD."
Thing is, I recently moved and cannot find the Adobe CD.
AppleJack seems like a neat little application. Can it also check for duplicate files? I DL'ed a Dup Finder program once but it seems tooo convoluted to use. I couldent tell which were nesssesary files and which were simply taking up space.

  • Form created in Acrobat Pro 9 not able to open in Reader 8? Help!

I created a form in Acrobat Pro, version 9 and enabled the extended features so that the user in reader is able to save the document after filling it out. The only problem is that it seems that the document can only be opened in Acrobat Reader X because when opened up in earlier versions of Reader, it asks to be upgraded in order to fill in the form. Is there any way of "saving down" the file so that people can view and fill out the form who are using Reader 7 or 8 or 9?
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your reply Torben. When I export the pdf after adjusting the settings in pdf optimizer, I have "discard form fields" unclicked, but it still flattens the form fields and so that was the reason I did not save down and make compatible with version 7 or later.
Any other suggestions? There must be a way to make it compatible while keeping the form fields.?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Form created in Acrobat Pro 8 not editable in Acrobat Pro XI

I created several forms in Acrobat Pro 8, using LiveCycle Designer. I upgraded to Acrobat XI a few days ago when I learned it was unstable under Windows 7. I am now finding I cannot edit my existing forms in Acrobat Pro XI because it doesn't include LiveCycle Designer. This has apparently been moved into a separate product that will cost me another $300. Moreover, I can't seem to save my existing forms at Word documents to re-import them into Acrobat XI, so I can re-create the forms from scratch. I suppose I could print and scan them, but that will result in a less legible form.
This loss of functionality and cross-compatibility between versions is disturbing. I feel I have just paid $200 to get less functionality than I had before.
It also appears that the most expedient method for creating new forms in Acrobat XI is to upload them to FormsCentral. I am reluctant to upload these to a third-party server, and resent being required to do so in order to maintain any functionality.
Is this an ill-planned marketing strategy to get people to buy another software package (which isn't happening in my case), or is there some work-around I am not seeing here?

To create a form in Acrobat, you first create a PDF that you will be adding form fields to. Normally yo'd create the source document in a program like InDesign or Word, convert to PDF, and place the form fields where they need to go. Acrobat includes a Form Wizard that can attempt to add fields where it thinks they should go, but I rarely use it, preverring to add the fields manually. To do this, select: Tools > Forms > Edit
and you'll be switched to form editing mode. At the top you'll see the various form field tools that you can use to add fields to the document. This type of form is known as an Acroform, as opposed to an XFA form (static or dynamic) that LiveCycle Designer creates.
Acrobat 11 comes with the FormCentral form creation application that allows yo to create forms that can be used with the FormsCentral service. It allows you to export a form to PDF, which can be further edited in Acrobat. FormsCentral can also work with a PDF form (Acroform) that you create entirely in Acrobat.
I think an Acroform is the more versatile type of the three mentioned since they have the widest support in the PDF viewers that are out there, but which you choose depends on your needs. Each have their advantages.

  • How to get rid of "Acrobat Pro is not currently your default PDF reader"

    Hi,
I am testing 3rd party crypto suite integration into Acrobat. Each time I fire it up it pesters me again to set the default PDF handler for OS X to Acrobat Pro which I never, ever want.
Is there any way to get rid of this massage? If not, I'd suggest the decision makers for this suffer from loading an 1000 page+ crypto standard document in Acrobat when it fires up :->
    regards,
         Tom_E

There should be a check box in the dialog box that you are seeing to set it so that this dialog is not shown again.

  • Acrobat PRO XI  not responding when using Send File

We have 3 new Windows 7 Pro 64 bit workstations with latest service packs, Office 2013 latest service packs and Adobe Acrobat XI  ver 11.0.4.
I have assigned the AD group Domain Users to the local pc Administrators group.
when trying to use the send file as an email attachment, the email is sent with the attachment but Acrobat goes to "not responding" state
When I login as me Domain Admin, works fine.  When I login to my pc as one of these users works fine.
    What am i missing?

I have the same issue, everything I do seems to only fix it temporarily. I can't believe we pay over $100 for a piece of software and the only support option is their forums, I can't call or even chat with a support rep, that is insane.
I have clients that this same issue is happening to and telling them it's fixed every other day only to have it break again and have no where to look for answers is extremely frustrating. Please help us out.

  • Acrobat Pro XI not opening

I am running CC Suite on a MacBook Pro ver. 10.8.5. I was updating acrobat when I got an error that the uddate did not complete. When I returned to the desktop, the icon had changed and I could no longer drop a file to acrobat. I ran Cleaner and it completed and still no change. I then decided to uninstall acrobat and reinstall. After running the reinstall, it indicated that it completed so I started the reinstall process. About 2/3rds through the install it gave an error that there was already a version of acrobat on my system. Although distiller still works, both have an icon that has chnged to a circle with a line through it. Whenn I try to execute acrobat I get the following error..."You can't open the application "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" because it may be damaged or inconplete." Any help would be appreciated as I use acrobat everday. Thanks!

It seems that when you are uninstalling the application the uninstall is not happening correctly. Some files may be remaining on your system. please try following steps:
    1. Quit all applications and restart your machine
    2. Uninstall the Acrobat Pro
    3. Check if any of the following file/folder is present or not. If you find any of these files/folders present delete them manually:
         a) /Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/
         b) /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/
         c) /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat 11 AMT/
         d) /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat 11 Helper Frameworks/
         e) /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
         f) /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
         g) /Library/PDF Services/Save as Adobe PDF.app
         h) /Library/Automator/Save as Adobe PDF.action
    4. Delete the following preferences folders:
         a) ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/
         b) ~/Library/Caches/Acrobat/
         c) ~/Library/Caches/Acrobat/
         d) ~/Library/Preferences/Acrobat Distiller Prefs
         e) ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Acrobat/
Here ~ represents your home directory. Empty your trash, Restart the machine and then reinstall the Acrobat.
you should not get any error now and it should install correctly. Hope this helps.
