Acrobat 9 Professional Bookmark rendering problems

Some change in Mavericks is causing the disclosure triangle graphic on the bookmarks is extremely huge, making it unuseable:
I can't figure out any way to even contact Adobe about it. All the relevant forums seem to be locked, and the link to report a bug for the product is bad.

Same problem here. I just checked the Adobe forum linked to by andrewknott, and as of the end of November 2013 no solution had been found (other than buying a newer version of Acrobat Pro).
This is very frustrating for me, as I had been successfully using the bookmarks to help me in my studying for exams in the pdf files of the lectures my prof has supplied us. I can no longer use this system due to the massive size of these bookmarks.
PS I have found that I can add the bookmarks in Pro, save, then view the pdf in Reader. The bookmarks look fine in Reader.

I had to reinstall all my software and now cannot create PDF files.

How did you re-install the software? What OS are you using? Have you updated your Acrobat 8.x.x to the latest and greatest version of the Acrobat 8 series?

    Acrobat Reader 9 problems
I thought that there could be a conflict between Acrobat Reader 9, which I have also installed, and Acrobat Professional 9.0, so I tried to remove Acrobat Reader 9, but the patch package could not be found. I then ran the Windows Install Cleanup tool, but Acrobat Reader 9 is still on my system. I now cannot reinstall it, nor can I really remove it
I’d like to remove Acrobat Reader 9 entirely because I already have Acrobat Professional 9.0, but how?
    Acrobat Professional 9.0 problems
When I try to remove Acrobat Professional 9.0 in order to re-install it from disk, I get the message that the patch package could not be found. When I insert the disk to try to repair Acrobat Professional 9.0, I get the message that the patch package could not be opened. When I try to use the Repair Acrobat Installation option in the Help menu of the program, nothing happens.
I’m hesitant to run the Windows Install Cleanup tool on Acrobat Professional 9.0 because of the problems I got with Acrobat Reader 9 after running the Windows Install Cleanup tool.
How can I re-install Acrobat Professional 9.0 from disk?

    Amanda,
As Van says, yes you can have both seleced at the same time. I suspect there are other issues on your machine that are creating your problems. FWIW, I too have been running FM9 on a win7 64-bit platform with no issues.
The Roaming Profile is used typicaly with remote logins across a WAN (wide area network), however, application specific gets stored there - depending upon the application. Since you've seemed to have resolved the issue by deleting (or disabling the profile, i.e. the apps won't look there) the Roaming profile folder, it sounds like there might have been something corrupt or erroneous in the Acrobat data folders. When you installed your FM versions, did you deselect the accompanying PDFcreator option? If not and you had an existing Acrobat installation, then some items would have been overwritten, creating some issues for you.

  • Acrobat Professional and Excel Spread Sheets

In searching the archives, it appears that there is a known problem when you want to save a multi page Excel workbook as a PDF. It saves each page as a different PDF document. I didn't see any discussion where the problem was solved. As I understand the workaround, it appears time consumming and troublesome.
Can anyone tell me if Acrobat Professional has this problem also. I would spring for the $499, if there is no other way cause I have to send this document out as a PDF, but I don't want to of course. Worse, I don't want to buy Professional and then find that the problem still exists (no trial version for some reason).
    Thanks for you help.

Thanks for you help, but actually the problem has gotten a little murkier. I decided that the problem was the workbook itself so I created a test workbook with a couple of pages in it and it worked fine. So I thought that the problem was just with that one workbook. Next step was to rebuild the workbook from scratch using the MAC.
It was working fine until I got the whole thing done. Now that I have totally rebuilt the workbook, I'm back to getting only one page. This is frustrating.

  • Acrobat Professional for Mac...Bookmarks disappear, other problems

I am using a Mac with OS 10.6.6, and using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.5. I find that I often lose some but not all bookmarks in documents after I save the file, close and then reopen the file. I also get one or two randome bookmarks that WILL NOT DELETE no matter what I do.
I also use the link boxes (to insert URLs) and those seem to move around the page, disappear, or move to other pages. Is anyone else having these problems?
I also CANNOT get the 8.2.5 patch to take on my machine.
    Any ideas?

Acrobat 8 is not OS X.6 compatible.

It was reported several times in the past. It seems to be a bug in Acrobat on Mavericks. You should report it to Adobe here:

I have tried to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional XI this morning and payment (AED 1983.53) has been taken, I received a message stating there was/is a problem processing my order and that I should contact your customer service team in UAE.  Having tried this, I was met with a recorded message, in Arabic, and no options to speak to anyone.  I have found this process extremely frustrating and poor on your behalf.  Not providing any options to speak to an Adobe representative is equally annoying.  Please get back to me ASAP, as I need to use the product immediately.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back.  So probably won't run on modern operating systems.  If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 giving problem

We've a user who has installed Adobe Reader 7.0.8 and xACF on her machine. She also has Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 on her machine which she uses for some other work.
Now the problem is that when she tries to open the Adobe interactive form from CRM system, it by default opens by Adobe Professional 8.0 (AND Professional 8.0 has issues with xACF framework, so she can not edit the form or click any button).
I tried to attach "PDF" documents with Adobe Reader 7.0 on her machine - which works when I double click an existing PDF on her machine - it opens in Reader 7.0.
But as soon as she opens the Interactive  form from CRM it opens in Adobe Professional 8.0.
I even tried follwoing in Professional 8.0 -
Edit -> Preferences -> Internet -> Display PDF in browser (Unchecked)
But as soon as I did this the PDF stopped to display and just an icon appeared.
Please let me know how I can resolve this issue of co-existence of Reader 7.0 and Professional 8.0 together on same machine.
    Many Thanks,
    Vimukta

    Hello Michal,
    I tried your solution 1. I un-installed both Reader 7.0.8 and Professional 8.0.
    Then I re-installed Reader 7.0.8.
Then I re-installed Professional 8.0, but no where during installtion process did it ask me if Professional 8.0 should be default to open PDF files. By default it set it to open PDF files. Now I'm back to original problem.
Solution 2 still works (i.e. open Reader 7.0.8) before opening the URL in web browser (then it opens in Reader 7.0.8).
But we want a permanent solution.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Vimukta

  • Link problem when converting MS Word to PDF with Acrobat Professional

    Hello all,
    I have the following problem:
When I have a MS Word document with links to other files inside and I convert it to PDF the links are converted from relative paths to absolute paths.
The problem is created by Acrobat as the links in the MS Word file are relative (I have checked this by moving the different docs to another directory and confirmed that the links still work after the move).
How can I make the paths in the PDF relative again? I know there is a plugin from Evermap (and I can confirm this works) but I do not want to use this plugin (=read: spend another $190 dollars) as the license for the Acrobat Professional is expensive enough . Is there a way I can convert the paths within Adobe Acrobat easily? Or better: can I adjust the settings in Acrobat to a new standard when all converted documents contain relative paths?
    Backgroundinfo:
    - Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    - Windows XP (SP2)
    - MS Word 2002
    Thanks in advance!
    Bart

    Dear Steve,
I have tried what u suggested: I put all the documents (word + linked documents) into the same folder on the local-drive (C). Then I recreated the links  in the word document to be sure they were matching. After that I converted the word document to an PDF and confirmed the links were still working in the PDF document.
Then the biggest challenge: copying the pdf and linked documents to another drive&directory. As you can guess: Unfortunately the links did not work anymore.
    Any other suggestions?
If I use the Evermap-tool (30 day-trial) I can look at the links and this is how it is 'coded' in the pdf.
    first link: ../../../../test/link_a.pdf
    second link: ../../../../test/link_b.pdf
and yes this will work if you put the documents in the directory test in the root of the local-drive but not in a different subdirectory.
    Anyone ideas?
    Grtz,
    Bart

  • Problem in adobe acrobat professional 7

    Hi Friends,

    Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With AA7, you will have to hunt for the work arounds to get it to work properly in Win7. Do expect some problems to occur that may not be able to be solved. Apparently you do not have a 64-bit version of Win7, or it probably would not work at all. A year or 2 back there was a lot of dicussion for AA8 users and Win7, with one or 2 mentioning they got it to work in the 64-bit version. I don't remember anyone else tryin AA7 on Win7, so you may be on your own -- basically because it is something none of us have tried. We may still be able to comment and give some thoughts, but probably not much more. You are likely to get a lot of the compatibility comments and that is appropriate, but does not help you.
What you might have to do is create a folder (If you can figure it out based on Win XP) and try to set that up for your data. Win7 stores system data in different folders (hopefully the registry is the same). That is not a lot of help, but is probably what the problem is. Systems have gone through a document and settings folder to a user folder, and so on. That may be the issue that Acrobat just can't find the folder to write the info into. Of course, it could be a registry issue also.

  • Problem in creating PDF of Website using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.

I am trying to create PDF file of full website using "Create PDF from Web Page..." option, in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
It is creating PDF but the page alignments/text/images alignments are lost and doesn't look good.
Can any one help to create the PDF same as webpage look and feel.
    Thanks.

Acrobat 8's HTML->PDF engine is quite old and doesn't work well with modern web pages. I'd recommend trying the same page using Acrobat X (trial available) where the engine has been replaced and modernized.

  • Acrobat 9 Professional Batch Processing Problem

I created a batch sequence to change the Subject under Description to run on selected folders. It ran perfectly in Acrobat 6. In Acrobat 9, when I select run sequence, I have to click OK for each file until it runs on all files in a folder. My output options are the same as Acrobat 6, I'm overwriting existing files and keeping originial name.

    > So there is no way to set the batch process to only work on odd or even pages in Acrobat Professional 8?
    I don't see any way.
