Acrobat 9 Standard converting to PDF

When converting docs from Word to PDF, we use the Adobe
Distiller to make the PDFs readable for users of Adobe 5.0 (It
seems to be a popular version for visitor to our website). We
recently upgraded to Adobe 9 Standard, and the files created cannot
be read by the 5.0 reader. The error message is "The root object is
missing or invalid."
Looking at the properties, it says that the PDF is readable
by Adobe 5.0. However, when we use Adobe 8 standard, the file is
fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • How can we create a plugin for Acrobat reader to convert a Pdf to Excel format?

    Hi all,
I need to convert a pdf to excel format ! is it possible by a plugin in acrobat reader.
I know that it can be done with Acrobat Professional and i have to do the same with the Acrobat Reader?
Does the Acrobat Reader support file conversion plugins?

    Hi,
I don't know if Reader supports the onversion but you can easily check that : open an Excel file with Reader and check the result.
With Acrobat Pro when you open a document using Acrobat then it's automatically converted. If this functionality is supported with Reader you will have the same behavior.
Once it's supported you just have to open your document using Acrobat.exe (or Reader.Exe)
My mistake I understood the opposite. To check that Acrobat Reader support the conversion you just have to check in the Reader interface.

  • Adobe acrobat 9 Pro Convert to PDF Access Denied for users

I recently installed IE 9 on my computer (windows 7 ultimate 64 bit). From this moment on I cannot convert web page to pdf. I am getting " permission denied", code 0.
    Can anyone help me?

    Good day astryian,
Acrobat 9's development was completed while IE8 was still in beta.  The PDFMaker Add-in from Acrobat 9 was never designed for use with IE9.  You may want to try printing to the Adobe PDF printer from IE9 instead.  If the results you receive contain either missing or garbled text, please refer to the following knowledgebase document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/896/cpsid_89623.html

  • Acrobat X Stopped Converting to PDF's Correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro X ver 10.1.4, IE8, XpPro Svc Pack 3 and Flash 11.6.602.171
I've been using Acrobat Pro X to convert Word docs to PDF's for a long time.  Suddenly, last week, when I either convert a Word doc to PDF from within Word or open Acrobat Pro X and then open the Word file in there, the PDF generates but the text is way too small to read and it's all pushed up into the upper left corner of the PDF file.
I had the same issue with Flash 11.6.602.168.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello.  thanks for responding.
    Page size is good.
When I went to Word and printed to the Adobe PDF printer, part of the text on page one of my document is missing but most of the other text is there.
Printer Preferences and Properties seem fine in Word.
I had a similar issue a while back and remember it was the current version of Flash causing the issue.  We had to unistall flash and install an older version.  But what's funny is the latest version of Flash results in the same problem and so does the previous version of Flash...which when I had that, the PDF conversion worked fine until last week.

  • Converting a PDF to PowerPoint?

Will Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard convert a PDF to PowerPoint?

I think inserting a pdf file into PowerPoint presentation as image is a lame solution. Bcz for that case, no modification and editing you can do to them. Of course, if you just need the entire content, it's just OK. But in most cases we will not need a whole page, maybe a paragraph or certain sentences, picture.  If we are able to edit them then reuse into the presentaion, it will help a lot.
So I agree to convert pdf into PowerPoint so that we are able to make seamlessly combination and reuse the editable content freely. A good pdf to PowerPoint Converter is needed.

  • Limiting Text Box to Alpha Only A-Z using Acrobat 9 Standard

I'm trying to set a text box in my form to only accept alpha A-Z only.  Can anyone tell me how to go about doing this.  I'm working with Acrobat 9 Standard using a PDF file.  Thanks!

OK, it's a little more complicated with Standard than it shold be, but begin by adding the following JavaScript to the first page's Page Open event (Pages panel > right-click on first page > Page Properties > Actions > Page Open > Run a JavaScript > Add) :
// Allow just upperse letter from A to Z
    function alphaOnly_ks() {
// Get all of the characters that have been entered in to the field
        var value = AFMergeChange(event);
// Do nothing if field is blank
        if(!value) return;
// Reject the entry if the entry doesn't match the regular expression
        if(!AFExactMatch(/^[A-Z]+$/, value)) event.rc = false;
Just copy and paste that entire block of code.
Now in the text field you need to call this function in the Keystroke event (right-click field with Select Object tool active > Properties > Format tab > Custom format category > Custom Keystroke Script > Edit) like this:
// Limit this field to uppercase letters from A-Z
    alphaOnly_ks();
If you only have one page in the document, close the document and reopen it. If there are more than one page, go to a different page and return. This has the effect of loading the script so it is available from the field. If you were using Pro, you could place the function in a document-level JavaScript and avoid this nonsense.
The field should now only allow entry of uppercase letters from A-Z. It possible to alter the script so that any lowercase letters are automatically converted to uppercase.

  • When converting a PDF document to word, the word count feature is not giving me the number of words

I have been using Acrobat for converting PDF documents to Word.  It had been working just fine, but lately, when I convert a PDF document to Word, it is not giving me the word count, which is why I subscribed in the first place. Someone has any idea of why?

    Hi Robin,
I would recommend you to use Acrobat software to convert this pdf file, Acrobat software enable you to customize the conversion settings.
You can download a free 30-day trial from this Link : https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html
After downloading and installing acrobat, Open pdf file in Acrobat, go to File menu -> Click 'save as other' -> Microsoft Word -> Word Document.
A pop-up window will appear that would prompt you to choose the file to be converted, after you select the file, click on the settings button on the bottom left of the pop-up window and choose 'Retain Page layout' under layout settings, click ok and then save.
Hope that helps with your query.
    Regards,
    Rahul

The problem is that your postscript file is using fonts Distiller cannot find. You have the list of fonts that Distiller wants. Locate them and notify Distiller by using the menu item Settings -> Font Locations

  • Convert a pdf file to a word document

where do you go to convert a file

    Hi patrice228,
Adobe Reader XI uses Adobe Export PDF online to convert the file into Word.
You can go to File > Save As > Word or Excel Online
You can even use Acrobat XI to convert a pdf to word document.
Go to File > Save as other... > Microsoft Word > Word document / Word 97-2003 document
You can even make a selection of any table in the pdf document and right click and select 'export as ' > Word document.
    Or,
Open a file in Acrobat XI.
Choose Tools > Content Editing > Export File to Word document.
Name the Word file and save it in a desired location.

  • Can't convert files to pdf using Acrobat 8 Standard or 9 Pro

I am having a major problem. I have tried converting both Word 2003 and Excel 2003 documents to pdf using Acrobat 8 Standard (I can't recall which version because I uninstalled and installed a trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro) and Acrobat 9 Pro. I have tried to convert directly from the open document and through Acrobat using create from file. In every instance the process starts and then stops after a few moments. When I try the conversion from within Acrobat, I get the following error message: " Pdf conversion failed, please correct the error and retry." When I try the conversion directly from Word or Excel, the conversion starts, stiops suddenly and gives no error message.  I have had Acrobat 8 Standard installed for a couple of years. It worked fine on this computer until the problem started a week ago or so. There have been no software or hardware changes that woudl trigger suspicion.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 8 Standard version. I have uninstalled the 8 Standard version and installed the 9 Pro trial version. I have run the repair module on both versions. I'm sure it is something simple but I just can't figure out what the "error" is that I need to "correct". Any suggestions?
As an aside, I have several Adobe programs (Photoshop CS5, Contribute 3 and Acrobat), all of them expensive. Their business model of offering no unpaid support (even for this type of problem) is one reason I hate Adobe more than Microsoft... but I rant.

When you uninstalled, you should have used the MS Installer Cleanup utility. It cleans up a lot of the junk left over in the registry. You should have also deleted the Acrobat folder. Then you would reinstall. You did not indicate your OS and it may be that you need to update the AA8 to get it to work correctly. Also, the installs and uninstalls can mess up your registration process if you are not careful. If you uninstall the AA9 trial, you will not be able to reinstall it for use. At this point, I can only suggest you do a repair of your installation and be sure you have all of the updates.

  • Adobe X PDF files converted to jpg, edited and converted back to PDF have ragged, unclear text.  I didn't have this problem with Acrobat 9 standard.  What is the remedy for this.  If this is the best I can expect, I won't be able to use X standard.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • Not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

    Hi,
I am not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. When I try to convert, it starts the process and in between I am getting this prompt, as shown in figure below and the conversion process stops. The PDF is not created.
Note: The filename 'Acr85.doc' in the above prompt keeps changing and is random.
I tried clicking Yes, No and Cancel on the above prompt, but the conversion process just stops and PDF is not getting generated.
I am able to create PDFs from web pages. No issues with that. Not working only with Word.
Can someone help me with this.
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat 11 Standard Office 2010 Pro Convert Word documents to PDF not working

    Adobe community,
I can create PDF's inside Word 2010 using the Acrobat Add-in but right clicking a Word document or dragging a Word document into Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard does not work. I have updated both Acrobat 11 and Office 2010 with the latest updates available. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi markl16215442,
In order to convert word document to PDF by right-clicking or dragging the file, you must have Adobe PDF printer installed.
For Windows, please check that Adobe PDF is set as default printer under "Start > Devices and Printers"
While for MAC, Adobe PDF printer option is no more available and as it was removed with some changes in Apple's policy regarding virtual printers.
So, check with your OS and then let me know.
    Regards,
    Anubha
