Acrobat 9 Standard- missing "Redax" menu

Hi,
I have a weird problem that I hope someone on here can help me with.  Recently started working in a law firm as their IT guy.  Have many users of Acrobat 9 Standard, but only a handful of them have the "Redax" menu on the toolbar.  As I didn't perform the installs, I don't know how these installs were performed.  I have the CD media, but even when I do a "complete installation" on a computer, no "Redax" menu.
Can anyone tell me how this would only be showing up on a few of my users' computers, and how I can get it to show up on other users' Acrobat 9 Standard installations?
Thanks for any help/info anyone can give me!
Dave

Possible problems are:
Acrobat Reader: Make sure you are using a full version of Acrobat  6.0 or later, not Acrobat Reader. Redax does not work with Acrobat  Reader.
Certified Mode: Make sure you are not running Acrobat in certified mode:
In Acrobat, select Edit > Preferences > Startup.
Is the Use only certified plug-ins box in the Application Startup section checked?
- If yes, you are running in certified mode and must switch to uncertified mode. Go to step 3.
- If no, you are not running in certified mode. Click Cancel to exit the Startup Preferences, and then go to step 6.
Click the Use only certified plug-ins box to clear the checkmark. A  message is displayed, telling you to exit and restart Acrobat to load  any non-certified plug-ins that are present.
Click OK to remove the message.
Click OK again to exit the Preferences dialog box.
Exit and restart Acrobat.
If Redax is installed, you should see the Redax menu.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard missing paper sizes.

I recently had Acrobat 9 Standard installed on my work computer.  Previously I had CS4 with Acrobat Pro installed but had to transfer the license to a coworker.  I'm now frustrated because all of the page sizes that I typically use are gone.  All fo the Arch and Ansi sizes are missing.  In the print preferences dialog I tried to add a new page size called Arch E1 and I got an error saying "Not allowed to modify system or printer defined paper size (Arch E1).  Only user defined paper size can be modified or deleted."  Apparently acrobat knows that Arch E1 is a standard paper size but its not available in the paper size selection menu.  I can go through and make a bunch of new custom paper sizes and give them alternate names but that's a little bit frustrating to have to go through and set up my own paper sizes when Acrobat already knows they exist.  I guess my question is how do I get Acrobat 9 Standard to show the Arch and Ansi paper sizes?

Unfortunately, this is only available when using the Pro. version of Acrobat.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard missing Output Preview in Advanced...

    Hi,
I find it weird that I can't find the Output Preview option on acrobat. I go to Avanced>Print Production>Acrobat Distiller???
Don't have a clue what Acrobat Distiller is, so I try going into Tools. Nothing. Then I try bringing up the Help and even that doesn't want to come up.
Does Acrobat 9 even have an Output Preview? I need to use it for checking CMYK pantones and such. After Google searching I'm desperate

    I'm having the same problem...
    Acrobat v.9.4.5
I go to the 'Print Production' menu and the only thing on the menu is 'Acrobat Distiller'
Where is Output Preview and all the other options? Where have they gone?
This is driving me nuts - can anyone please help or suggest a reason why? The only other Adobe application installed in Acrobat Reader X. Machine is running XP Pro. Everything is fully updated.
    Thanks.

  • Can't see "Add or Edit Fields" menu in Acrobat 9 Standard v9.5.2

I am trying to edit the fields of an Adobe form from one of my co-workers.  We both are running Acrobat 9 Standard v9.5.2.  She is able to see the Forms-->"Add or Edit Fields" menu, while I cannot.
I cannot get this menu item to show?  Can someone tell me if there is an option or setting to enable so that I can get to this menu item?
Here is a screenshot of the form:
Here is a screenshot of the Adobe Acrobat version we are running:
    Thanks,
      Ted

Finally found a work around to my problem.  Here are the steps:
    (1) The original form.  Note missing "Add or Edit Fields" menu item.
    (2) Click on Document-->Extract Pages
    (3) The following dialog pops up.  Since I am only working with a 1 page form I accept the defaults and click OK.
    (4) The following window is launched.  Now I just save the newly generated form:
    (5) Now when I check the Forms menu, I finally see the "Add or Edit Fields" item:  Yay!!!!
    (6) In checking the Document Properties of the new form, the Application (PScript5.dll)  and PDF Producer (GPL Ghostscript 8.15) metadata is still the same as before:
Still don't know why I couldn't get to the "Add or Edit Fields" menu item in the original form.  After doing the Extract, now I am able to get to it.   At this point that's all I care about right now.
Thanks George for helping me investigate this issue!

  • The "File Edit View Window Help" menu disappears after opening Adobe Acrobat X Standard

After installing Adobe Acrobat X Standard, when I run the program the "File Edit View Window Help" menu is visible for only a brief second then disappears.  I tried to press F11 or other functions keys to bring it back.  I also installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro which I also have a license for and it would do the exact same thing. Reinstalling the programs did not seem to resolve the problem.  Is there an issue inside the registry?

Thank you for your comment.  However, F9 does not seem to work.
When I press F9, the menu bar appears but the words "File Edit View Window Help" are still missing.
When I press F9 again the menu bar will close.
This is a screen capture before the words "File Edit View Window Help" disappear.  After only about a second they are gone.

  • The content menu in my Acrobat X Standard does not include the "multimedia" selection??

What am I missing?  The Adobe Classroom In A Book clearly refers to it...

    Hi,
I am sorry to hear that you're having trouble in locating 'Multimedia' tools in Acrobat.
Acrobat X Standard does not include most of the interactive object tools. You need to use Acrobat X Pro for those features. Kindly check the comparison matrix at:

  • Acrobat 9 Standard .ppt/pptx to pdf missing objects after conversion

We have Acrobat 9 Standard fully updated, office 2007 fully updated and patched with the Microsoft pdf converter add-on on XP service pack3
When converting ppt/pptx and doc/docx to pdf some of the pictures and information on the slides are missing. If a completely remove Acrobat and just leave the Microsoft pdf converter on, it is able to convert the files correctly.  If I install Acrobat 8 standard it works fine also. The majority of the files that it seems to not be converting and leaving off are .emf and .jpg files. It is not all .emf files just the majority
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Have you tried answering no, then going to Help>Repair and follow up with Help>Updates? A last resort is to uninstall (after deactivation), run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove leftover parts of Acrobat folder, reboot and reinstall. Be sure you have the installation files archived on a CD or backup drive and write the SN on the CD (and previous SN if an update) for future needs.

  • Install Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from Acrobat 9 Standard

I attempted to do an upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro Extended having purchased the software from a sales rep who said I could do this as did technical support.
My system is XP Pro/SP2 32-bit.
During the install I ran into this problem. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401731.html. Being stupid I continued on
instead of stopping. Once I got to the section that I am asked to input the Pro Extended serial number and then my STandard serial number I ran into further problems. The dropp down menu asked for which current version of Acrobat, which of course for me was 9 Standard.
The problem was the drop down menu has no option for Standar only Professional.
Since the sales rep had told me I could upgrade I hadn't read the label on the Extended Pro box, which says it's only an upgrade for Professional If I had called in at that time I would have resolved that issue, but not the missing DLL.
I then found out I couldn't uninstall the mess so I did another stupid thing and did a system restore, which just compounded the problem. To make a longer story shorter I downloaded MS Windows Cleanup Utility and removed  Acrobat.com and Acrobat 9 STandard. I then downloaded WinCS4Cleanupscript and unzipped and ran it. So far so good.
Then I was advised to install Pro Extended as a trial and customer support would take care of the license issue. Ok, again so far so good.
I then attemped to install Pro Extended as trial and ran into a printer problem similar to what I had
encountered before, but not exactly the same.
"Setup can not copy file PSCRPTFE.NTF" and issues about printers not being Windows logo compliant I believe it was.
(I have a new wireless Brother HL-2170W laser and Canon MP830 inkjet and just updated the driver and firmware...maybe that will load the missing driver)
A this point the installation was terminated and I was advised to follow Adobe TechNote KB403613. The only item that I could possiblity help with this printer problem is the Hotfix kb-930627, but this is for a 64-bit system not 32? Do I download or not?
I also just found out that I still have some vestige of Pro Extended on my system though the MS Cleanup Utility doesn't list anything. Do I run WinCS4Cleanupscript again?
    a) How do I fix the PSCRPTFE.NTF issue with my printer(s)
    b) Do I download a 64-bit hotfix kb-930627to my 32-bit system...and will that solve the printer problem?
    c) Do I just ignore what's left of Pro Extended on my system or run Winc cs4Cleanupscript again. I can't run it directly from all programs, but if I click
on Acrobat 9 Standard under start it opens up or at least that's how it's identified.
    d) Anything else?

I might as well update my own question:
I followed the instructions given in the Adobe TechNote kb403613 after running WINCS4Cleanupscript.
However, I did NOT download the hotfix as that's for a 64-bit system. The phrasing of the hotfix wasn't very
clear to me, but I don't think when it stated XP Home or Professional meant a 32-bit system rather only 64-bit.
If anyone knows better let me know. I checked out that specific hotfix and said was for 64-bit OS.
    1) Created a new user account with Admin rights
    2)  I did the "intermediate troubleshooting" listed in kb403613 and found a few files to delete and I also ran the disk defragmenter.
Might as well catch any problems up front instead of waiting.
    3) There were several directories on the DVD but only copied Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to my desktop in the new user account.
    4) Ran msconfig and disabled all programs under the start up tab. Once you click OK a small window pops up
and you press restart. Remember to write down any programs listed in startup that are not enabled so you
can deselect those when you enable the startup menu again.
    5) On restart and booting up press F8 to get the start up options and select VGA mode.
    7) Once you in Windows log back into the account you created to just install Acrobat
    8) Open Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on your desk top and run the installer
    Desktop>Acrobat 9 Pro Extended>Acrobat9>Acro3D
    9) Run the install. In my case I selected trial version.
    10) I still ran into a problem with Windows Logo compatiblity issues with  my printers.
I could either continue or stop the installation, which I did to attempt to determine just what's
    causing that problem.
    11) there was some auto backout of files, but I still had to run MS Cleanup Utility again and remove Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
Also ran WINCS4Cleanupscript though nothing there.
    12) I then did a restart and booted into normal Windows mode from VGA mode.
    13) Logged into my account and ran msconfig to enabled my startup menu and then deselected the ones I didn't want.
OK, I am back to square one. I checked the Windows Logo Product List and found my Brother HL-2170W is
XP, VISTA and W7 Windows Logo certified.
I checked my other printer a Canon Pixma MP830...well not so good. It's logo certified under Vista and W7, but not XP.
I had downloaded the lastest driver and firmware, but that didn't seem to help. I did email Canon. Now these printers had
no problems when I was running under Acrobat 9 Standard.
Right now my only option appears to be to just run the install and continue on when I get to the printer issue. Still don't know what
will happen when I get to the serial numbers. I am suppose to call support and they will fix activation. So I am told...

  • Can't find Save As Optimized PDF in Acrobat X Standard.

I just bought and installed Acrobat X Standard, but cannot find the Save As > Optimized PDF option.  I have seen and used this option before in Acrobat X Pro, and it was one of the reasons I bought Acrobat for myself.  Adobe's own website says that this option is available in Acrobat X Standard.  My File > Save As menu has options to save as PDF, Reduced Size PDF, Certified PDF, Reader Extended PDF, and the other format options but no "Optimized PDF" option.
Does anyone know what might be going on here?  I've tried to look through Acrobat's Preferences to see if I missed something that would enable this option, but I haven't seen anything.  Can this be fixed?  I didn't fork over a bunch of money to have one of the few options I wanted not be available.  If not, is this grounds enough for me to get a refund?  I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Any idea what can I can expect if I try to explain this to Adobe Customer Service?  I bought the software as a download from Amazon, which will not refund software downloads I just learned.  I'd say that since Adobe's website provides incorrect information, and I based my purchase  off of that incorrect information, that they should do something for me, then fix their website so it doesn't happen again.
I see that my only two options to talk to customer service are via phone or online chat.   I have no idea how helpful or unhelpful Adobe customer service is (i.e. do they use foreign hard-to-understand call centers or stock-answer chats).  Does it seem like I'd have any chance in the world of communicating this fairly complicated situation and getting an actual resolution from someone?  Is there any email address somewhere I can contact?  That way I could copy and paste the link to the incorrect page on Adobe's website.  If Adobe can't provide me with a refund of some sort, maybe they could just upgrade me to Acrobat Pro or something.  If this is going to be nothing but a many-hour nightmare to try to deal with, though, I'll just eat the money I've spent.
As a last ditch effort, is it possible to upgrade from my existing Acrobat Standard to Acrobat Pro without having to buy a whole new copy of Acrobat Pro?
Geez, what a mess.  Thanks for your help.

  • Creating Back navigation in Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

I have a huge pdf - actually an e-book - of more than 350 pages. Each page contains a health therapy with certain words hyperlinked which go to an explanation in the glossary, which is towards the end of the document. This means that the reader could click off page 9 to find themselves in page 320, and then after they've got their explanation, they will want to return to their original page (9).
So how do I get them back easily?
On Acrobat 7, there was a way of doing this. And it is explained here in this tutorial:
    http://library.queensu.ca/webir/e-theses/word-to-pdf-etd_tutorial.pdf
The way to do it is found in Lesson 4, Section 3. It says:
    * In the Actions pane select the "Execute a menu item" then click on the "Edit" button.
    * The Menu Item dialog box presents itself. Select, from the menu, "View>Go To> Previous View.
My problem is that none of these navigation titles such as Actions, or Bookmarks Properties, or Execute a Menu Item appear in my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.
And I'm not even sure whether Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard can perform this navigation tool, or whether it is only available in Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional. I rang Technical Support, but they didn't know. So they referred me to Customer Services, but they didn't know. So Customer Services referred me to Sales, and they didn't know ...
So please can anyone here help? I would be very grateful.
    Thanks for listening!

Thank you for your swift response,
The problem is that the form has to be filled out and then submitted via email, as you mentioned the email clients have trouble, I do not have a problem with the amount of submissions as I do not think I will ever hit the max on the form.
I have been doing some digging, can I use "Extend Forms Fill-In & Save In Adobe Reader" function on the form so the users can fill out the form and then save it? And if so are you also able to have the "submit Form" function with this or can it only be one or the other?
    Thanks in Advance

  • Printing in adobe acrobat 9 standard

when printing a pdf file from a autocad lt 2011 program using adobe acrobat 9 standard program, viewing the pdf file some of the text is missing (random text missing not always the same) this does not happen all the time. does anyone know why this would happen?

  • Acrobat 8 Standard - Printing Tax Forms in Black - No Forms Toolbar

I have filled out some tax forms in Acrobat 8 Standard, however, the font color for the filled out text is blue, and thus prints as a hard-to-read grey when printing on the laser printer.  I've searched and the standard advice seems to be to use the forms toolbar to change the font color, but when I go to View -> Toolbars, there is no option for the Forms toolbar.
Is there any way I can get this damned text to print as black?  Seems kinda silly to have a form fill-out function that you can't print the result of!

I was very pleased to find this info too. Thanks.
But something a little more important than how to do it is why is it so hard to find? I'm sure there are many more people out there who can't find this and I think it's because it's hard to find. The intuitive functionality, offered by the Properties Bar in Acrobat, called the Control bar in Illustrator, and the Options bar in Photoshop. Acrobat also appears to be the only one in that list that doesn't contain a secondary tool pallet for each function offered by the Properties bar, found in the Window menu.
I've been through everything Tina looked at and most of them seemed like they should contain the font color, although I couldn't find the Document Colors Option. And if it turned out that you can't edit the color, why would it pick red?
So my two questions are, why is this solution so hard to find?
How do you change the default font color so you don't need the Properties bar?
Ok, I feel better now :)

  • What is the issue? When printing a 30x42 drawing PDF with 5 pages. The first drawing prints properly, but none of th eothers do. IF I print each separately, by selecting "current page" they print fine. Oh this is for Acrobat XI Standard.

For now I can work around it by printing each page using the "Current Page" setting, but this delays me when there is more than 20 pages etc..

I'm new here so forgive me if this has already been answered someplace and I missed it.
I am running windows XP SP3 and have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard installed on my system.
