Acrobat 9 Std Blue Screens on Second Scan

I am using Acrobat 9 Standard with a Fujitsu fi-6140 and the Kofax VRS Twain driver on Win XP SP3. I have it set to launch Acrobat whenever I hit the scan button on the scanner and OCR the PDF in Acrobat.
On the first scan, Acrobat brings up the custom scan dialog, and everything proceeds normally.
However, if I leave Acrobat 9 open and start a new scan, the document scans and I get to the point where Acrobat asks me if the scan is complete, or whether I want to scan more pages. If I tell it the scan is complete, then Acrobat crashes spectacularly with a blue screen. This happens every time. I have tried repairing the installation, reinstalling with the latest scanner drivers, etc. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I was having similar issue on one workstation.  I could open and edit other types of docs (word, excel, etc) and could change the names of pdf documents but when saving the pdf after making any changes it would act like it was open by another user and would prompt for saving under different name.  Also, could open and edit a document on one workstation and go back to problem one and it couldn't.  Both workstations are Windows 7 and were using acrobat v8.1.3
Updated both to 8.1.4 and the issue went away.  Couldn't any reference to this problem in the patch notes however.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro blue-screens during installation (registration) and bluescreens during uninstall

I tried to install Acrobat 9 Pro.  It got to the registration part and Acrobat crashed my Win 7 laptop with a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (error 0x50 on bluescreen).   Attempting to uninstall results in the same error/blue screen.   I can do an installation repair, which does complete, but when I start Adobe Acrobat, it still brings up Acrobat and seems to work fine only for about 10 seconds beore it bluescreens with the same error.  I still cannot uninstall or run Acrobat without bluescreening.  I can run Adobe Reader, Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 4 and do anything I usually do on my laptop without any issues.  However, if I try to use Acrobat, it crashes my laptop every time.   I once was able to bring up the option to update the software and I saw some message about registration or something being disabled, but it crashed immediately so I was unable to fully read the message.

What has happened is that you have selected to install the PDF add-on which will not run alongside your version of Acrobat. Without warning, the installation just uninstalls the incompatible full version of Acrobat.
I don't think you can just uninstall the add-on so you will need to uninstall Rh, reinstall Acrobat 9 then reinstall Rh deselecting the add-on.
I am not sure that will be entirely trouble free as Word has to be compatible with Acrobat and I don't know if your two versions are.
It's not a way of forcing you to upgrade but I do agree it could be handled better.

  • Blue Screen 15 seconds after every start up

As it says, I get a blue screen (don't think its the screen of death) that only appears for a second or less once windows 7 has a chance to load. I think it says something about hardware, it could be telling me to check it. I can't get enough time to read it. AFter it appears the Mac just shuts down.
I'm running a stock 2.8Ghz quad mac pro from last november. Just after the install it was fine, installed a driver for my wacom tablet and the windows support software that Apple suggested I download. I think it could be a funky driver. I saw somewhere online about a bad driver being supplied which caused something similar but that was from a few years ago.
    Any ideas?

x: is the booted system, you have to change it to c: this is the system partition of boot camp
    at the command prompt type:
    c: [enter]
cd [foldername] to change directory and cd.. to go back
    to move files type:
move [filename] [foldername] if the level of the folder is the same as the file
to move the file one level up type:
    move filename ../
    to rename the file type:
    rename [filename]
when this is working for you and you are able to boot your system, you need a USB mouse since the touchpad is deactivated because of the missing drivers
then download the newest Boot Camp drivers, after the install everything is working again.
you can see the files when you are in OSX, but you can´t rename then, you need a NTFS Driver for OSX first, which allows you to write to NTFS Partition.
    Good luck!

  • Videos cause a blue screen in XP Pro

Hello all, I have been led to this site after hours of google searching and reading similar problems. the only thing I noticed is that most of the people having the same problem are from 2005 or 2007! The other thing I noted is the lack of any solution so I thought I should start a new thread myself...
Every time I try to import any video into my itunes (latest version) for my ipod nano (latest software update) I get, 90% of the time, an instant blue screen that references win32k.sys
I do not have any other program on my PC that will do this.
I have noted however some strange things about itunes in general.
I used a program called prism video converter, recommended to produce great ipod compatible video by a friend, I set it to convetrt about 6 video files, all to the exact same settings, same bitrate/size/etc and they came out fien.
I can even play them in windows mediaplayer no problem.
now, I open itunes and go 'import from folder' and select the folder they are all inside.
    first try: Blue Screen.
Second try I did them one at a time through the add files way.
Wow! Video 01 appeared in itunes and no crash!
So I try adding the next one...
Itunes seemed to freeze a bit on doing this, maybe cos the video is a bit longer (only 3 minutes though) and then it displayed no change!
the first video was still there but it had not added the second.
I tried again with the second video.
    Nothing appeared.
Why would this happen if the videos are technically the same??!
    So I tried video 3.
    It appeared in itunes!!
    I tried video 4...
    Blue Screen!
The worst of it is that usually, whatever I try I will get itunes throwing my PC into a blue screen error whenever I am dealing with these m4v, mp4 or mov (or any other apple video file!) and trying to put them into itunes.
I am so sick of this problem and I would not usually come and ask like this as I pride myself on using google etc and fixing my own PC problems but this one is just a bit too much asd there is no apparent logic to it and nothing I try gets me any closer to a solution!

    **** there.
Let me first make this really clear: It is most definitely nothing to do with the Prism Software. I know this as I have tried converting with many programs before this but usually just got a bluescreen whatever I tried, as soon as I tried to import a video file into itunes.
the thing about prism is that this seems to be the only time I have actually managed to succeed in importing a video file into itunes! So if anything it is faring better than anything else!!
I am usually really good with video on a PC. I have created and encoded and converted so many in the past that I am usually able to work it out if there's maybe a compatibility issue or a codec issue. This time ... nope!
I do think it may be related to some codec or the way XP is handling these itunes compatible video files. They seem to just cause errors.
Ironic: I just dragged and dropped one of the video file sinto a quicktime window and I got a bluescreen.(Thank god for firefox session manager, saving what I had typed so far).
Anyway the result is that these files are also able to throw the same blue screen if I drag them into firefox.
I have converted to ipod format from many apps and, whatever app I use, whatever bitrate I use, if it is a file format as described above (Ie. the type it has to be to play in itunes/ipod) then it will/can/usually does give this blue screen!
Please be clear though: Prism has nothing to do with it. Also, I am confused what the criteria is for itunes to accept video files anyway...why is it that it will accept some and not others that are in essence, exactly the same?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

  • Does any have their MacBook Pro retina 2012 freezes up then desktop blue screen for 15-20 seconds?

I have been having issues for months now.  My MBP 15" is freezing up after I stop typing in any application.  I cannot do anything.  Then after 20-30 seconds my desktop goes to a blue screen then comes back after 20-30 seconds.  Just did it now when I stopped typing.  Went to the Genius Bar they reload the software but it's still happening. Currently on Mountain Lion.

If you like you can also restore, via Disk Utility, the DMG onto another disk, but you will be able to read the contents, simply mounting the volume inside any version of OS X.
^ What do you mean by this?
Also, It says on here:Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6: How to back up and restore your files - Apple Support
When the imaging process is complete, select the newly created disk image in the device pane.  Then, choose Images > Scan Image for Restore... from the menu bar, and let the scan complete.
Quit Disk Utility (press Command-Q). Then press Command-Q to quit the Mac OS X installer; you will be prompted to restart.
Restoring the backup disk image's contents to your internal Mac OS X disk
What does Images > Scan Image for Restore mean?
Also  If I erase hard drive and then reinstall mavericks OS X from "command + r mode" and after that hopefully I can get back in would I hook my external hard drive and then open the copy of the "macintosh".dmg and drag everything back on? or...?

  • Pavilion dv6-3130tx Blue Screen (BSOD) on adding RAM to second slot

    Hi there,
I own a HP Pavilion dv6-3130tx with total of 3gb of RAM, one 1GB chip and one 2 GB chip. Recently I have been getting a lot of system crashes/freezes and occasional Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with a variety of error messages. On contacting HP care in India they said to check the RAM chips and the slot for any problem. I have identified that the second slot is one creating the problem as the system crashes if use any one of the chips on that slot while both the RAMs work fine on the other slot.
Additionaly the RAM port/slot cannot be replaced as such, and since it is out of warranty getting the motherboard replaced isn't an alternative either.
So does anyone have any idea what might be the best way out of this problem?

Did the 3GB of RAM come with the computer or did you upgrade it at some point?
What version of Windows are you using?

You can take some of the steps here, #4, #5 or even trying a #18
Step by Step to fix your Mac
but I suspect your going to first have to create a data recovery drive
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
to get your data off the machine,
then do a #20 to eliminate the bad sectors as that's why your getting the "pinwheel" it's getting a delay reading from the drive, right when your trying to log in too, what a bad spot for it to happen.

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

You won't lose any data unless you erase your hard drive.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c"key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it.When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've selected the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.

Hi just wanted to let you know I solved most of my XP problems with my new IPOD. It won't recognise the IPOD or driver and froze and locked up and then the battery died. After hours of trying different things here is what I did. I completly closed computer down. Waited 15 minutes turned on and reloaded everything. I put the usb cable in but not hooked up to IPOD. I turned off Mcaffee (all of it). After my computer came on. I then went and closed everything I didn't need in the bottom toolbar. (taskbar). I then reloaded the software and waited. Took forever to reload and I don't know why but whatever it worked but I DID NOT HOOK UP THE IPOD LIKE IT SAID! I instead shut down the computer after loading the software and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on. I again waited and shut of mcaffee. It loaded everything fine this time and said new hard ware and drivers detected. I plugged my IPOD in and YES I WAS UP AND RUNNING (THIS IS AFTER 6 HOURS OF PLAYING WITH OTHER THINGS!) I am able to load and play, burn, watch movies, see pictures and everything your suppose too! The only thing I see different than the instructions is I left my usb cable plugged in and when it said to eject the disk I didn't. I also didn't plug in the IPOD (5th Gen) and then I shut down waited and then restarted the computer. I hope this helps others because I know the feeling of wanting to return something you paid dearly for and worked hard at saving money to buy one and it doesn't work. My only thing I dislike about apple is they didn't supply a ac adapter for the IPOD and the instructions say to plug it up when trying to charge battery. DUHHHHHH, ya can't do that if ya don't have one and stores are closed and won' open until Monday! But at least I am up and running. I just hate having to plug up IPOD to computer daily to charge the battery which only last a half a day1

  • Getting light blue screen during startup for 3-5 Seconds

I get a light blue screen during start up for about 3-5 seconds. It shows the spinning image for loading, once its done that goes away and then it goes light blue for couple seconds then back to the white page with the apple logo then brings me to the user login page. It also takes longer then usual to start up, load dock and the menu bar. I've read around and it seems people are saying its normal? but this just started happening.

Which model Macbook Pro do you have?
It also takes longer then usual to start up, load dock and the menu bar.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
Go to your Account/Login Items and get rid of all you do not need.

  • I have a blue screen and no disks as computer is second hand

    hi there.
I bought a second hand mac book pro from ebay last year as I had never had an apple computer before and wanted to see how I would go.  I have been downloading movies and the computer was working fine.  Last night the computer seemed to over heat and switch off.  I am now trying to use the computer again and all I get is a blue screen and nothing else.  it goes through the grey screen and then blue and then nothing.  I don't have any start up disks is there anything I can do or do I have to take to the apple store to get fixed.

I have read your last two responses and I have no idea why COMMAND D would have any influence on starting the MBP.  I also note that you have:
    "Just tried:
Single user, safe mode, startup maneger, PRAM, and SMC."
I have the sense that you have windows installed on your MBP.  This may or may not have some bearing on your situation.  I do not have Windows, therefore I cannot say with any certainty.
If you have done everything that you mention above in the proper sequence I can only suggest reinstalling your OS.  Will your MBP start up holding down the option key?  If not, try OPTION/COMMAND R on startup.
You need an Internet connection to do this.
Is all of your data backed up?  If not insert another HDD in the MBP.
You seem to have tried everything I can think of which has led me to this suggestion.  Perhaps others can add additional options in lieu of taking this step.  I am just out of ammunition.
    Ciao.

  • HT4061 The phone exhausted power.  I plugged in my charger and I am getting the following response:  Power on and the apple icon is visible, it is quickly replaced by a blue screen for about 1 second andf then black screen with no other activity.  What is

The power was exhausted on my Iphone 5S.  I plugged it into my charger and turned it on.  The apple icon comes on briefly followed by a blue screen for about 1.5 seconds andf then goes black.  What has happened?

Leave the device connected to power for about 30 minutes.
Then, disconnect from power, and turn the device on.  If no response, then press and hold both the Home button and Sleep/Wake button down for about 15-20 seconds.  Make sure it is not plugged in while doing this.
    See what happens.

  • IMac makes a loud beep on start up, won't load past the blue screen and the black ticking dial appears every few seconds in centre of screen.

    Urgent help!
Out of the blue my mac lost the mouse cursor even though it had connection so I rebooted only for the mac to make a loud beep on start up then get stuck at the blue loading screen. It won't load past the blue screen. I've tried to reboot holding down the shift key but no change. I've also shut down, unplugged the main for 15 seconds, re plug and wait 5 seconds before starting up again but no change. Does anyone have any suggestions?
PS: I'm not too sure which systems I am running without being able to check in about this mac. I bought my imac in January or February 2011 if that helps.

The power on self-test resides in the ROM of the computer. This test runs whenever the computer is turned on after being fully shut down (the power-on self-test does not run if the computer is only restarted).
If a fault is detected during the test, you will not hear a normal startup chime. Instead, the system will beep as explained below. If you experience one of these beeps, you may call your Apple Authorized Service Provider for additional troubleshooting assistance.
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
