Acrobat 9 Text Box Default Text Properties

Acrobat 9: How do you change the default text properties for a text box?

I take it you are talking about the text box from the Comment and Markup Toolbar?
Yes, to access the Properties of a drawn box, select the box and right click(Control click on Mac) , a pop up menu will appear, choose > Properties... and amend as necessary. (Sounds like you probably knew that bit already).
When in the Properties dialog box you will see a check box at the bottom that says 'Make Properties Default'
Also an already modified box can be right clicked on the reveal 'Make Current Properties Default' from the pop up menu

    Here is a part of your Helpfile:
    Adding text to a slide
    To add new text, do one of the following:
    To use one of the preset text effects, click Text in the Extras panel, and then drag a text sample onto the slide.
    To add plain text, click the Add Text button .
    Double-click the text and type in the Edit Text dialog box (to change the sample text it contains), and then click OK.
    In the Properties panel, set any of the following options:Note: The text properties specified here become the defaults for adding text.
    But the text properties specified here become not the defaults for adding text.
    Why not?

  • Acrobat XI Pro crashing when changing highlighted text properties

    After install update 11.0.07 EVERY after highlighting a section of text and attempting to change the properties the program crashes, this is happening in ALL my documents with highlighted text
    Here is what I see, first screen shot is a PDF file that I received. To rule out errors in the first file I created the file in the second screen shot with the same results in both files when attempting to change the highlighted text properties ie CRASH
    I'm in two mind as to ether uninstall and re install and apply update 11.0.06 , as there was no problem then, as this only seemed to start when update 11.0.07 was applied. OR to totally remove and re-install and then apply update 11.0.07  and see if this continues

    I have the same problem with KERNELBASE.dll but the procedure is the same, I change into something thanks

  • How do you get the text box text properties dialog box to appear on a MAC?

    how do you get the text box text properties dialog box to appear in Adobe Reader XI on a MAC? I know windows is Ctrl-E but can't figure out what to hit for Mac.

    Right-click the toolbar and you should find it there (including the short-cut, which is probably Cmd+E).

  • Acrobat pro: how set default properties for arrow and line tool seperately?

    I have a problem with the 'comment and markup' tools in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    I would like to change the defaults of some of the tools, eg the arrow and the line tool.
    This can be achieved by right-clicking on something drawn using the tool in question and then selecting 'properties' - or by selecting the tool and then press ctrl+E, wich opens a 'Callout Tool Properties', and then change what you want there. The latter option keeps the changes as defaults - the former offers a box to tick in the 'properties' dialogue that opens - or, you can right-click on the object again after having changed the properties, and then select 'Make Current Properties Default'.
    My Problem is now, that, apparently, you cannot choose and save default properties freely and for each tool. I woul like to have the default properties for the line tool set as the following:
    -line color: yellow
    -line thickness: 8pt
    -opacity: 60%
    and fot the arrow tool as this:
    -line color: red
    -line thickness: 1pt
    -opacity: 100%
    This all works fine as long as the program is open. As soon as I exit and start it again opening another document /the same one again, the arrow tool changes to
    -line color: yellow
    -opacity: 60%
    only the line thickness remains at 1pt.
    If I change the properties of the line to the ones I want for the arrow, the arrow properties remain unaltered if I close Acrobat Pro.
    Why do these properties interfere? Why is it "line color/thickness" in both? Why, then, do only the opacity and the color interfere, but not the thickness - even if it's the latter two properties that are bot called "line xxx"? Why does Acrobat not save all properties for these two shapes seperately - even IF the two shapes are both of a line-like kind?
    Is there a way to get around this?

    Trobbel - This indeed is puzzling behavior. Clicking 'Make Current Properties Default' should preserve the default  appearance for each. I don't have a solution, but merely a couple of suggestions:
    1) Make sure you have installed any available upgrade for your version of Acrobat Professional.
    2) Consider using the line tool exclusively - you can add an arrowhead and make one tool perform both tasks.
    Hope this helps. /rmbrown

  • Interactive PDF Form Field Text properties InDesign CS6

    I am new to InDesign CS6 (upgraded from CS4) and after advice when attempting PDF form creation.
    Is there a way of defining text style of text colour font for the form field,
    (in the same way thay is possible if I was editing the PDF within in the text properties of Acrobat).
    Or do I need to export and change the font and colour properties from Acrobat (which would be a shame).
    thanks
    MattHM

    Short answer…no, you can’t do that in InDesign.

  • Help with problem specifying text properties (style & antiAliasMethod)

    I would be very grateful if someone could help me figure out what I am doing wrong in specifying certain text properties, namely style and antiAliasMethod.  I have tried many different things and consulted the JavaScript Reference Guide, Tools Guide and PS CS4 Scripting Guide, as well as several example scripts, but I can't seem to find the information needed.
    The snippet of code below adds a text layer to a document and places text on it;  What I want is white Arial bold 10 point text with no antialiasing (this would appear as "none" in the PS CS4 text tool dialog).  This code does everything except get the bold property and the antialiasing = none property.  Instead, what this code produces is white Arial normal (not bold) crisp (not none) text,
    My attempt to get no antialiasing instead of "crisp" causes an execution error, so that line is commented out below.  The line setting style to "BOLD" does not create an execution error, but it doesn't give me bold, either (instead I get normal).
    I am certain these errors mean I do not understand the correct way to express the code to set these properties.  Can someone set me straight about how to do this?
    Thanks.
            // Create a new text layer at the top of the document
            var myLayerRef = newDocRef.artLayers.add();
            myLayerRef.kind = LayerKind.TEXT;
            myLayerRef.name = "Test";
            var myTextRef = myLayerRef.textItem;
            // Set the text color, font, size, etc.
            var textColor = new SolidColor;
            textColor.rgb.red = 255;
            textColor.rgb.green = 255;
            textColor.rgb.blue = 255;
            myTextRef.color = textColor;
            myTextRef.font = "ArialMT";
            myTextRef.style = "BOLD";
    //        myTextRef.antiAliasMethod = "NONE";
            myTextRef.size = 10;
            // Set the text position, blend mode and opacity
            var tx = 10;
            var ty = 50;
            myTextRef.position = new Array(tx,ty);
            myLayerRef.blendMode = BlendMode.NORMAL;
            myLayerRef.opacity = 100;
            // Insert the text
            myTextRef.contents = "Hello World";

    Update:
    I discovered how to fix both problems myself.
    The antialiasing was fixed by statement: myTextRef.antiAliasMethod = AntiAlias.NONE;
    The bold problem was fixed by changing the font name to "Arial-BoldMT" and deleting the statement which attempted to set the style to "BOLD".
    Thanks for your interest.  No further help is needed on this issue.

  • Dreamweaver Help | Set text properties in the Property inspector

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/set-text-properties-property-inspector.html

    The note at the bottom of the first section (About formatting text (CSS versus HTML)) says -
    "You can combine CSS and HTML 3.2 formatting within the same page. Formatting is applied in a hierarchical manner: HTML 3.2 formatting overrides formatting applied by external CSS style sheets, and CSS embedded in a document overrides external CSS."
    Please be aware that embedded CSS will ONLY override external CSS if the external CSS link is closer to the  tag than the embedded CSS (i.e., it comes earlier in the flow of the document).  If the embedded CSS comes first in the flow of the document, it will be overridden by the external CSS instead.

  • Very strange error in text properties - AI CS6

    Hello Everyone,
    This morning I found very very STRANGE error in Adobe CS6 about text properties. Here you go.
    In the picture one text 'ei and mosterd' was bold.
    But after copy to new string the bold characters are changed to 'ig and mosterdz'.
    This is very strange error I have seen ever.
    Do you guys have any reason why CS6 act like this?
    also do you  have any option to fix this issue?
    For your information:
    I just done copy past. Nothing else.
    All the properties are same for both.
    No difference except the text string size
    I tried the same file in different machines for check. But I still see the same error in all the machines.
    System properties:
    Mac os x: 10.8.5
    Processor 2,8 Ghz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 8 GB
    Software: Adobe CS6
    Regards,

    Wow, this is absolutely incredible... you try to parse an empty String to an int and it throws an exception... I'd never have thought.

  • How do I get text properties at a TextLoc

    I want to get the text properties of the text location where my cursor is:
    var doc = app.ActiveDoc;
    var textLoc = doc.TextSelection.beg;
    Any pointers would be appreciated.
    Rick Quatro

    Hi Rick,
    According to the documentation, the Doc object has a GetTextProps method that expects a TextLoc. Seems to be exactly what you need. Page 477 of the FrameMaker 10 Scripting guide.

  • Copy text properties ?

    Hi,
    How to copy text properties (font, size, line-height, etc) from one text element to another ?

    You can record actions while formatting your text items the first time.
    Give them names like headline 1, paragraph, list item ...
    Assign the text properties by double clicking the text layer and one click on the action.

  • Acrobat Ignore "Set as default PDF Viewer" Setting

    Hello,
    I see from previous posts that this has been an issue for a while. I have an image that contains Adobe Reader. That image is deployed to all users. Some users get Acrobat Pro. also. So I went thru the whole customization tool and selelcted "Make Acrobat the default PDF viewer" and am using the Setup.ini and .MST file. Everything else works - skips EULA, reads serial number - everything but making Acrobat Pro the default PDF reader. After I install it and launch it for the first time I am presented with the "make Acrobat reader your default PDF viewer" question. How can I set this once and for all and not prompt every single user?

    Unfortunately there is no option post installation with Acrobat 8 to change PDF ownership. However this is possbile Acrobat 10 onwards. But yYou can choose to make Reader XI the default PDF handler during installation itself.
    1. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, select the entry "Adobe Reader XI" and Un-install.
    2. Then visit link : http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and choose the Reader which you need.
    3. When you double click the EXE, then a screen will come showing extraction of files. As soon as extraction ends, installation will begin and you will be presented with following screen :
    4. Uncheck the checkbox which says "Make Adobe Reader my default PDF viewer"
    Acrobat 8 will remain default PDF viewer on your machine.
