Acrobat 9 won't update in Windows 8.1

I can't get the automatic updates to work on Acrobat. It has been suggested elsewhere to manually update but I have started this and found it too time consuming as there are 24 different updates between 9.0 and the latest version.
The automatic update system is saying there are no updates available, but I know there are because they are installing if done manually.
Before it started saying no updates available it was saying 'problems connecting to server', but that was changed by turning off a wifi direct virtual adapter in device manager.  I would be grateful for help!

Acrobat 9 might have compatibility issues with Windows 8.
Try changing the compatibility of Acrobat to Windows Xp and then check.

    All of a sudden, Itunes won't update my Ipod in Windows 8. It doesn't even recognise that the Ipod is connected.
    I got one error message from Itunes that the driver had been corrupted and it was trying to fix it.
    I got another message from Windows that it had blocked the installation of an unlicenced driver.
    I uninstalled Itunes, rebooted and reinstalled it without result but no error messages.
    Just had a Windows update so I think that is the culprit.

  • Acrobat 7.1 update for Windows (with CS2 Premium) Continuous Configuration at Boot Time

    I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 on an IBM T43P laptop with current MSFT patches. My system is set to automatically download and apply Adobe Patches.
    The patch installs, but requires "configuration" at every boot time. It completes the configuration process and requests re-boot or defer to complete the installation/configuration process.
    My system has been doing this for more than a week. I finally uninstalled Acrobat 7.0 (from within CS2 Premium), re-booted, then re-installed Acrobat Pro (within CS2 Premium) for Windows. I downloaded the full 7.1 update and the process has started all over again.
    Please advise, as the constant configuration at boot time and request to re-boot is annoying.

    I use a different version of Acrobat, so didn't pay much attention... but I do know this has been discussed before, with a solution

  • Acrobat won't open in Windows 7

    I downloaded Adobe CS6 on April 12, 2013. It worked fine for a few weeks, but now Acrobat will not open. (I had to change all my pdf files so that they open with Reader instead of Acrobat, which had been the default.) Additionally, I am no longer able to convert other file types to pdf. When I right-click and select "convert to adobe pdf," nothing happens.
    I have Windows 7. I suspect that the problems with Acrobat were caused by some recent update, but I don't know for sure. Does anyone have any insights?

    The problem is that Acrobat does not open, period. When I double-click, or right-click and select "Open," my computer briefly looks like it's working, but then stops after about 2 seconds, and nothing else happens. So I can't access the File menu or the Help menu.
    I have Acrobat version 10.1.7.27 and am running a 64-bit system.
    Any other thoughts about what could be the problem? Has anyone else encountered this?

  • Acrobat 7.1 update fails -- Windows Installer problem

    I am running Windows XP SP3.
    During the update to Acrobat 7.1, I first get a Windows message in a window labeled "Windows Intaller" that states "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."
    Having no clue what this means, I stick my legal Windows XP CD in the drive but that is no help.
    This is followed by a message from the Adobe installer that it has failed because "Missing source media. (Error 1612)"
    Can anyone please suggest a fix?

    The automatic updates for Acrobat 8 have stopped working - I'm stuck on version 8.2.2
    When I click install I get error: 1646
    I tried to do it manually; the adobe program data folder contains the downloaded .msp files;

    So... you went to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and selected your product and then downloaded the updater?
    As far as I know, the updater is a standalone EXE file that you run
    Added... looked, and they are MSP files, not EXE
    But... I do not understand the "uninstall" message

    I have acrobat 8 pro. I just got a new computer with Windows 7 pro and the acrobat 8 will not load.  I would like to update to acrobat XI.  How do I do this if I don't have to older version loaded?

    That's simple.

    Upgrade to Acrobat XI Pro
    Download and install the product.
    When you launch it, it will validate the serial number and prompt you to enter the serial number of the qualifying product (Since the new AXI serial number is an upgrade serial number)
    Select Acrobat 8 Pro -> enter the serial number of A8 Pro and click Next
    ........and you are done!!! (my fav step...)
    You don't have to install A8 as long as you have its serial number in you hand.

  • HP ENVY 700-049 Won't Update to Windows 8.1 - 0xC1900101 - 0x20018

    I recently purchased an HP Envy 700-049 desktop and have updated to the latest Windows 8.  I have re-downloaded and installed all of the Windows 8 drivers listed on the support page.  I disabled the wireless LAN in Windows (no way to do so in the BIOS that I can tell).  After all of that I went to the Windows App Store and ran the 8.1 update.  The machine reboots and begins to configure the devices, but stops prior to completion with the error SYSTEM_THREAD EXCEPTION NOT_HANDLED.
    On reboot I am given
    0xC1900101 - 0x30018
    This is showing up in Google...and I tried common reccomendations (install updates, install latest driver, disable WLAN)... are there any additional suggestions or am I just going to have to hang tight on MS to fix this?
    My wrist is getting tired from bouncing over to the quickbar. :-)

    I am on 8.0, trying to update to 8.1.  I can't install the 8.1 drivers.  It is for all intents and purposes a new OS.  The 8.1 drivers clearly indicate to me that the OS is not at a compatible level "Your system does not meet the operating system requirements. Update has been cancelled. (9998)".
    I did note that the intel onboard driver was not good, don't know where that fell by the wayside, but I re-installed the HP Win8 driver and things were good.
    There are two graphics cards, onboard and radeon.  I updated the catalyst drivers too.
    All of the HP drivers were up to date, all of the Windows Updates are installed.
    I disconnected ALL devices except for the mouse and keyboard.
    The drivers are installed fine for 8.0.  But the way that the windows 8.1 update is delivered is through the Microsoft App Store.  It downloads, installs and reboots.  There is a second reboot where it starts updating the drivers.  I know that it's a problem at that particular point, but without being able to isolate the driver that it's having a problem with...it's a crapshoot.
    I researched a bit and looked at the winstore.log files, but nothing in there seems to indicate a specific driver...I think this is the log at the point where the update chokes...

    I'm not sure where that "travel log" is written to, but that may have more information in it.  I'm not seeing anything obvious in the Event Viewer.  I tried to narrow down the time, and I see some errors popping up, but I'm not quite sure if they are related.
    I may keep troubleshooting, I think I may just clean out the app store cache and give it a try again.  There was a comment that I read that seems to indicate disabling file sharing settings can resolve the issue.  I also saw a suggestion on downloading the preview and then updating from that.  This is a fairly new box (at least to me), and it's running fine otherwise...but I would like to get 8.1 running to get the integrated tools.  Worst case scenerio I could just download from DreamSpark and reinstall.

    I save a pdf then close the pdf.  I do not close the program, just the pdf.  I go to windows explorer and attempt to move the folder that contains the pdf I just closed (as well as a few other files).  Windows barks at me and says that one of the files in the foder is open and it can't move the file until it has been closed.
    None of the files are open.
    If I go to Acrobat and close the program entirely, only then will windows allow me to move the folder.  Is there a setting in Acrobat that I need to change?  It seems that Acrobat is telling windows that it still has the file open.

    Adobe Acrobat locks the folder. You can move the closed pdf files, not the whole folder.

  • C3 Web Premium won't update on Windows 7 64bit

    The auto-update program pops up to indicate that updates are available.  When I run the update, it stops midway and tells me that I must shut down XSrvSetup.exe before proceeding.  However, I can find XSrvSetup.exe in my list of running processs, applications, or services.  I think XSrvSetup.exe is somehow related to the JMB36X service, but I can't shut this service down - not sure what it does either.
    Can I not update CS3 Web Premium on Windows 7 64bit?

    Cracked it! in task manager on teh processes tab there is an option to "show processes from all users". xsrvsetup.exe is a system process. I stopped it and then ran the update through sucessfully.

  • Photo stream won't update in Windows 8

    I have iCloud Control panel v. 4.0.2 installed on a PC running Windows 8. My problem is that my Photo Stream photos aren't being downloaded into the appointed Photo Stream folder. I've had this problem before. Reinstalling the iCloud control panel didn't seem to help. Restarting the PC didn't seem to help. Signing out of iCloud and signing back in didn't seem to help. Changing the Photo Stream folder didn't seem to help.
    Photos are from an iPod Touch 4th gen, with iOS 6.1.6. Photos are showing up in the Photo Stream folder on the iPod, but not my PC.

    I agree with Doc, but there may be a work around. Actually, your best solution is to just buy AA XI. The work around depends on what you mean by does not work. Do Acrobat and Distiller both install and appear to function? Is the problem one of not being able to print? If both of these answers are yes, then you can install an independent PS printer (maybe one from Adobe or one of the HP color PS printers), change the name to Adobe PDF for your use (not required), and change the port to FILE. Then to create a PDF you would print to that printer and open the file created in Distiller to create a PDF file. May or may not work. However, AA6 is so old, it is likely to cause other problems, even if this process works. If nothing else, it will not open some of the newer PDFs that are being created today (at least I would guess that will be the case). So buying XI is really in order.
    Other issues that may crop up will be activation (will likely fail) and updates that have to be obtained from the FTP site and not the web.

    Ditto to all of the above. Acrobat Pro was working fine until a day or two ago, then kaput.  Reader still functions.  I have Win 7 (64bit), CS6 Design and Web Premium. Anyone with any new ideas?
