Acrobat 9 & X License for older versions

I have several employees here, some using Acrobat 9 Professional, others using Acrobat X professional, both of whom are experiencing the same issue: toolbar buttons are disappearing, and Acrobat is crashing shortly afterwards.  This is a known issue, and has been acknowledged in the Product Support forums, but (from what I can tell) Engineering is not expected to have the problem fixed until the next patch release, happening sometime in May/June.
However, this doesn't really help me, as these people are experiencing crashes as frequently as every 5-10 minutes, and "...when you see the buttons start to disappear, immediately save your work and restart Acrobat" is a huge disruption to their work process.
My question is:  is it possible (and permissible) to use these licenses for versions 9 and X to install Acrobat 8 Pro?  There are other employees here using this version, and working on the same files, that have not reported any problems related to this issue.  I was unable to find any information on this from looking through the EULA and forums.

Hi Sheldon, serial numbers for one version won't work for another, so that's something that probably only Adobe itself could help you with (try contacting Customer Service).
They may or may not be able to help - but if you think you'd only need 30 days using an older version, one option would be to install the free trial for Acrobat 8.  You could ask if they still have that to offer.

    You appear to have an iPhone 5. Snipsnap 2.4.2, the current version, says it works on iPhone 5, iOS 5.0 or later. Why do you want an out of date version of the app?

  • Can I get product key for older versions of Illustrator with Creative Cloud Student and Teacher edition

    I have purchased the Creative Cloud Student and Teacher edition and I now need to install illustrator on Windows Vista. All the new versions are not available for Vista. I have managed to find older versions for download but it is asking me for a product key. Is it possible to get the product keys for older version with Creative Cloud Student and Teacher edition?

    You cannot purchase older versions of Adobe software thru Adobe.  If you have a full subscription you can acquire the CS6 version  thru that.  I have had CS6 running on a Vista system for years without problems.

  • Compile for older versions

    Hi,
    I did some code and when trying to run the jar file in another computer i have the problem that the code was compiled in mine with version 1.6 and the other computer has java version 1.5.
    Is it possible to compile a jar file for older versions?
    Please help,
    Rodo.

    Here's an example of how flaky the -source and target flags are. This code compiles and runs fine under 1.5 (without flags):
    import java.io.*;
    public class VersionExample {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
            PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(new File("test.txt"));
            try {
                out.format("%s%n", "woops");
                out.flush();
            } finally {
                closeIt(out);
        static void closeIt (Closeable stream) {
            try {
                stream.close();
            } catch (IOException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
    }Now supply flags -source 1.4 and -target 1.4 and you get one error message:
    path...\VersionExample.java:7: cannot find symbol
    symbol  : method format(java.lang.String,java.lang.String)
    location: class java.io.PrintWriter
                out.format("%s%n", "woops");It seems to be noting that format() was introduced in 1.5, right? But what about interface Closeable and constructor PrintWriter(File)? They were introduced in 1.5, too! Yet if you comment out line 7 above, the rest of the code compiles :-(. Odd...
    edit: I see what the compiler was choking on: format's use of varargs. If you rewrite the offending line as
    out.format("%s%n", new String[]{"woops"});it compiles with flags -source 1.4 -target 1.4 :-(

  • Looking for older version of Itunes to run on Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.6GHZ Windows XP

    looking for older version of iTunes to run on Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.6GHZ Windows XP

    ? Please read my original post again. Maybe how I said it was confusing but that is exactly how I checked it... in VISTA. Exactly the way the link you gave me described.
    You do understand the message I am getting says: *itunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for older version of windows. For best results, turn off compatibility mode for itunes before you open it.* I am interpreting this to mean that compatibility is set for something OTHER then VISTA since it it saying "for and older version of Windows".
    When you tell me to "Check the compatibility mode in Vista not iTunes" what the heck do you even mean? How do you check compatibility in iTunes?
    Thanks for trying to help, but not sure you read my post as I intended. I have seen one other post that mentioned the same problem, but that post never got a response that was helpful.
    Thanks for trying. Later !
    p.s. I still need help from someone.

  • Does iOS 7 Support Apps for Older Versions of iOS?

    Does iOS 7 support apps for older versions of iOS? This is my first big iOS upgrade so I wanted to be sure about this.

    Which is why I said "should" rather than "will". As there are no absolutes, I'm pretty sure there will be an app somewhere that will not run or have issues until its updated to the new iOS.
    With that said for the most part there "should" be no issues updating to a new iOS version related to having older unupdated apps, but its still possible that there can be.

  • Documentation for older versions

    Hello there everyone, I have a question relating to
    Coldfusion 4.0 and it would be helpful if I could scan the cfdocs
    for it. I can see links for CF5 and CFMX at livedocs.macromedia.com
    but cannot see anything for older versions.
    Does anyone know any other sites that might have this sort of
    info, is there an archive of old cfdocs anywhere?
    Thank you for any help.
    Barry

    I don't think Adobe has them anywhere on their site, but you
    can probably find them on someone's server, since they used to
    install at /cfdocs/ try this:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=inurl%3Acfdocs+%22coldfusion+4%22
    inurl:cfdocs
    "coldfusion 4"

  • Compatibilty Chart for older versions?

    Hi just wondering if anyone knows where to locate compatibilty charts for older versions of WebCenter interaction. Primarily I'd like to know if Plumtree 6.0 SP1 is compatible with Windows Server 2003 SP2?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: user9526276 on 26-Jul-2009 17:45

    Thanks for the response Ryan. I wonder if this is because it was never officially tested with SP2 since it came out way after that release. Does anyone have experience with this? I might try it on our UAT system and keep my fingers crossed.

  • I have a G5 and iBook with PowerPC/iTunes 10....just recently I can't bring up the preset Internet radio on either one. Is this a glitch, or have they been permanently disabled for older versions of iTunes?

    I have a G5 and iBook with PowerPC/iTunes 10....just recently I can't bring up the preset Internet radio on either one. Is this a glitch, or have they been permanently disabled for older versions of iTunes?

    I should have posted this for you a while ago. My apologies for not doing it sooner. This was passed on to me by another user R C-R
    He deserves the credit for this workaround. This is his post from an area in the forum where you have to be level 6 or higher in which to participate.
    I am getting the same (global) error using iTunes 10.3.1 on a 2008 MacBook running 10.6.8.
    A really, really awkward workaround that works for me (for now) is if you have the URL of the Internet radio server you can go to Advanced > Open Stream... (in iTunes 10.x) or type command + U, enter it there & click OK. The station should play fine in 10.x.
    You can get the URL from any version of iTunes that still supports the "radio tuning service" (which I gather is an Apple server thing Apple is no longer supporting for 10.x). Play the station normally from the newer version & type command + I to open the info window. At the bottom of the "Summary" tab you will see the URL. (Annoyingly, you can't copy the text so you will have to write it down.)
    Once you have that, you can play the station in 10.x & add it to a playlist for future use.
    To check this out, maybe try http://198.27.80.37/stream/mbarsott.pls -- it is a European Jazz station that works fine for me with iTunes 10.3.1.
    This workaround does work, but is a bit cumbersome. I'm still holding out hope that it is just a glitch.

  • License key Lightroom 4 for older version

    Hi there,
    just bought Lightroom 4 and run it on my Win7 system. As I am allowed to use it on 2 systems I would like to use it on my iMac PPC too. Lightroom 4 won't run on PPC but from my point of view it should be possible to install an older version and use the license key of Lightroom 4??? => I am not trying to use an old key for a newer version but a new key for an older version ;-)
    Thanks for your answers in advance!

    New license key combinations are created for each new version of Lightroom.  Consequently, license keys are not backward-compatible/usable on older versions.  It just doesn't work that way even though it seems to you that it should.  I'm afraid your only option is to upgrade your system if you want to use Lightroom.  The previous responder indicated that Lightroom 2 was the last version you could use.  It's questionable whether you would ever be able to find a version to purchase.  It can be downloaded from Adobe, but if you don't have a license key you won't be able to activate it.

  • Exporting to Quicktime for older versions

    Hello. I have a the latest version of QT and so when I export a video, it plays on my computer but not for folks running older Window versions. Is there a way I can export to a QT 6 clip without having to re-install the older version of QT therefore losing the benefits of having QT 7 myself? I export in Final Cut Pro. Would getting Quicktime 7 Pro work?
    Thanks for any help.
    powermac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Quicktime 7 uses H264 encoding in all the presets and that means such movies require QT 7. You will have to use custom exports and choose mpeg-4 to make files that will require only QT 6. If you use Sorenson 3 then QT5 for Windows will read that. Finally, the Sorenson encoder without a number will produce video readable in QT 4 and later. If you are not up to speed on how to make customized encodings then download this pdf guide to learn how to do it. I'm not sure if this link is still active so you may have to do a search of the Quicktime site if the link doesn't work for you:
    http://images.apple.com/quicktime/pdf/QuickTime7UserGuide.pdf
    P.S. That link seems to work but you will need the free Acrobat reader installed to be able to use the guide.

  • Acrobat 9 create pdfs that older versions of reader can open

    I use Acrobat to create pdfs for my classes. This session, many of my students can not open the pdfs that I created with Acrobat 9. This is especially true of students with older Operating systems and older versions of reader. Is there a way that I can create pdfs in Acrobat 9 that these older readers can open?

    You should be able to set the backward compatibility in the Adobe PDF printer. There is a setting for the version there.

  • Activation Code for older versions

    Where can I get an activation (serial number) that works for my older version - WHICH I BOUGHT - for
    Acrobat Pro 7 or 8?  I have a newer computer, since my old one died, and I want to use the one I already
    have.

    Hi Rise22,
    If you have registered the serial number with Adobe, then you can get it after logging in Adobe website using Adobe ID and password. However, as you have mentioned that you have purchased new computer, then just want to let you know that if the Operating System on your computer is Windows 7 or Windows 8 then Acrobat 7 or Acrobat 8 will not work. Acrobat 7 or Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 7 or Windows 8. I would recommend you to purchase Acrobat XI as it is fully compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8.
    You can also try using the trial version of Acrobat XI which you can download from: Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat XI Professional

  • Why doesn't the App Store prompt for older versions on first download?

    I thought Apple user interfaces were supposed to be slick.  Here's what I have to do to install an app.  I've inherited a first generation iPad from a friend.  The iPad was fully erased and set back to factory defaults before I got it.  I have created my Apple ID and started customising the machine to suit me.  The machine is running the very latest version of IOS it is capable of supporting 5.1.1.  So I gaily visit the app store and start trying to install a few apps I like.  Of course today 90% of the apps in the store are designed for IOS 6 or later and simply refuse to install at all.  So here is the rather less than slick workaround I have to do.
    First I have to put the iPad away and go to my Windows 8.1 Desktop computer running iTunes.  I log in using my Apple ID, visit the App Store, pick the apps I want and download a few that I'd like to my computer.  I then switch back to using the iPad.  Now I see the apps I've downloaded to the computer attempting to install themselves on the iPad.  If I've downloaded more than one app.  This fails for all the apps.  I have to wait for all the apps to fail, then delete them from the iPad and then visit the App Store on the iPad and navigate to Purchased Apps section.  Now I can see my apps waiting and can attempt to install them one at a time.  If I do this then, each app attempts to install singly, fails, and then I am gracefully asked if I'd like to download an older version of the app.  If I do that the download and install works - hooray!  I then repeat this process for the remaining apps.  Next time I need to install any apps I have to repeat the whole process.  It's not what I'd call slick.
    Why on earth doesn't the App Store simply prompt for an older version of the app when I first want to install it?
    Why do I have to do the rigmarole of switching to my PC, downloading there, and then switching back to the iPad again just to force the "Would you like to download an older version of the App" prompt to appear?
    I'm not impressed so far.

    No one here can speak for Apple since we are all just users like you. Perhaps the answer is as simple as this. This feature just rolled out recently. Perhaps Apple thought it was important enough to make it available before they had built out the whole solution.
    Just a thought.
