Acrobat adds a small graphic element when converting a Visio diagram

I have multi-page Visio diagram (Visio Professional 2003) that I am trying to convert to PDF (Acrobat 3D Version 8) for distribution. I have shapes that link to pages and those links seem to be converting properly, the bookmarks generate properly, and everyting seems to be OK, except toward the end of the conversion process, Acrobat throws a small but noticable graphical element in the upper left corner of every page (see images below). The object is nowhere in the drawing and it happens with several different drawings.
The object only appears when I convert using the "Convert to PDF" selection in the Adobe PDF menu. It does not appear when I create the PDF using the print dialog.
I can't figure out what this thing is or why Acrobat adds it. Does anyone have a clue?

Hi,
You can try out the following workaround as of now:
Just before conversion of the visio file to PDF, go to 'Format->Shadow-> Style' drop down and select '00:None' there. And then save and convert to PDF.  You can, during creation of the Visio file, keep these settings as you wants to, but before conversion to PDF using PDFMaker, the above given setting should be set to '00:None'.
Hope this helps.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.2 crops text when converting from Word 2003

When converting a Word 2003 file to PDF, using either PDF Maker or directly from Pro 9, the converted file crops a few lines of text at the top of some pages. Converting the same file by just printing to PDF is a work around, but this method does not create bookmarks, so is not preferable.
I create an updated version of a particular file monthly, using the old file as a basis.  The file will always have tracked changes in Word which are all accepted before converting the file, and the file always has a watermark, which is removed in Word and the file saved before converting to PDF.
Now here's the weird thing, if I remove the watermark in Word, save the file and convert to PDF, the cropping occurs.  But if I leave the watermark in the saved file, convert to PDF and remove the watermark in Acrobat, no cropping occurs! This is an OK work around too but I'd rather not have to do the workaround at all.
I've tried all the variations and settings I can think of, but I still end up working around the problem every month.
    Any ideas?

    They won't show up unless
you have click on each text box
    Go  Format  > Shape
    click on lines
chose desired line color for the borders.
once the Borders a colored they will show up in the created PDFs.

    Hi,
I convert several Word documents having footnotes to PDF using Acrobat X and it works fine. Is it possible for you to share your Word file in which you are seeing this issue so that I can investigate? You can send me the file @ [email protected]

  • Graphics disappear when converting from Word .docx to pdf

Several kinds of graphics disappear upon conversion, including pieces of drawings, equations, and details in Excel charts. Is there a way to retain all graphics upon conversion?

Thanks for the reply, Bill. I am using Word 2007 to do the converting using a menu item that provides the capability. I tried to use Acrobat Professional 9.1.0 to create the pdf, but got a security error that I don't know how to address... saying the security settings on the program that created the file are set too high. I can't see what they are (in Word) or how to change them. This may be a separate thread, but I thought I'd mention it.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 / Crash when converting JPG to PDF

    Hello all,
Not sure if anyone else has this issue that just started today.  I have approximately 8 JPG photos taken at 640x480 res (approx. 654kb total) that I'm trying to "Combine supported files in Acrobat".  The program will load the dialog box allowing me to reorder the files, change the output file size, etc. but once I click "Combine Files" the 'Status' stops at "Converting..." and throws the error shown below.  I've also tried "dragging/dropping" the files into an existing PDF, with the same result.  I've not had this problem before, and usually perform this operation without any issue.  Can anyone shed some light on what may be happening here?  Oh yeah, I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit) OS. Thanks in advance for any assistance

Unfortunately no.  However, I did try converting several other stock photos that I have on my machine, and that worked fine.  This leads me to believe there is something "different" about the first set of JPGs that I was trying to convert.  Maybe a security setting on the camera that they were taken with? I'm still at a loss.  But thanks for the suggestion that sparked the other idea

  • Reduced in resolution when converting from Visio to PDF in Visio 2013

I have a .NET application that converts Visio files to PDF using the Document.ExportAsFixedFormat method. This works fine in Visio 2010. However, upon upgrading to Visio 2013, the exact same code is producing PDF with much lower resolution that is unsuitable
for print. I am not sure what is wrong. Is there something I can do to export high resolution PDF with Visio 2013? Thanks!
    The following is my code:
    _app.ActiveDocument.ExportAsFixedFormat(VisFixedFormatTypes.visFixedFormatPDF, // Format
    pdfpath, // Output path
    VisDocExIntent.visDocExIntentPrint, // Output quality
    VisPrintOutRange.visPrintFromTo, // Range
    1, // Start page
    -1, // End page
    false, // Color as black
    true, // Include background
    false, // Include document properties
    false, // Indicate tag structure
    true, // Use ISO 19005-1 (PDF/A).
    System.Reflection.Missing.Value // FixedFormatExtClass

    Hi Eugene
I am using visFixedFormatPDF, visDocExIntentPrint, and visPrintAll, but there is no improvement in the resolution of the PDF.
The Type.Missing value can only be used for the last parameter. The other parameters require either bool or int, so I get compile errors if I try to use Type.Missing.
I also notice the reduction of resolution in Visio 2013 only applies to bitmap images copied into the Visio file. Lines and shapes drawn in Visio still looks fine. I am getting this problem even if I simply select the Save As menu option and select PDF,
so this problem could be independent of office.interop.
Is there something I can do to avoid the degradation of resolution of bitmaps in Visio 2013? Everything is fine in Visio 2010.

Can you help me with this?

Maybe if you read about privacy, policy and sharing of data you'd change your mind. But it was reported that it appeared to work if you used something like the "Add-ons Compatibility Reporter".
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter]" extension, or with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility extensions.checkCompatibility] using about:addons.

  • Symbols used in VISIO diagram are not shown when imported to FrameMaker 8.0

I have FrameMaker 8.0 and when importing a visio diagram that includes a symbol, the symbol is not shown in the FrameMaker document correctly. It either is shown as a small box or as a question mark.
Is there a way to work around this issue?

    > These symbols are availabe in FM when you insert equations.
Just because the symbols are available in FM in one font doesn't mean
they're available in FM in the font Visio used. This is why Art and
Sheila are asking you about fonts, specifically, whether the font used
in Visio is also available to Framemaker.
Beyond that, OLE is not a stable way to get graphics into Frame (or any
    other app, really).
BTW, a German sharp s (ß) is not the same as a beta (β) (which probably
won't make it through NNTP and the forum). They look close, but they're
    quite different.

  • Tiny U's when converting from Word 2007 to Acrobat 9

When converting a MS Word document that has an underlined word in it, the PDF has very small capital U's before and after the underlining. This is when going from Word 2007 on Vista to Acrobat 9 (CS4). Anyone else experience this?

Here's how I can duplicate this.
1 - Open a new document or an existing document
2 - Underline any word using either the Ctrl-U keystroke or by use of the ribbon bar option (Word 2007). By the way, this occurs only in Word, works well in PowerPoint.
3 - Save document either as .docx or .doc
4 - Convert to PDF by selecting the Acrobat ribbon and clicking on Create PDF.
5 - View PDF, zoom to approximately 800% to see the very small capital U's
It should also be noted that if the "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF" is unchecked, this issue goes away. However, this is absolutely not a viable option because all of my documents must be accessible for persons with disabilities. Furthermore, in theory I should/could be able to create the PDF from Word without the tags and use Acrobat's "Add tags to document" feature, but Acrobat doesn't handle complex documents well, or as well as creating the tags directly from Word.

  • Line spacing (leading) when converting web page to PDF with Acrobat Pro 8.1.2

I recently upgraded from Acrobat Pro version 7.0.9 to version 8.1.2 (Windows XP Pro). In many cases, when I "Convert current web page to an Adobe PDF file" using the Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer, the spacing between lines is much larger with version 8 than it was with version 7. Has anyone else observed this? Is there any way to control leading?

  • Acrobat X 10.02 crashes when converting Word 2007 document wiht linked Visio file.

Acrobat X 10.02 crashes when converting Word 2007 document with linked Visio file and causes a C++ runtime error in Word and crashes Word.
To see the behavior create a short Word 2007 document with a linked Visio file (e.g., create a Visio file with one box and text and insert it as a link into a Word docx).
    No problem in Acrobat 9

There may be some of an issue with AA X on this, but part of the blame probably goes to MS also. I would suggest you simply clip the graphic from VISIO as a vector graphic (EMF will be used by default) and not do the link and do not embed the VISIO object. The linking and use of embedded objects in WORD 2007 seems to have been a major problem and is mostly a MS issue.

Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

  • Disabling URLs when converting to Acrobat

Does anyone know how to disable the linking to URLs when converting from MS Word to Acrobat 9 Professional?  Have tried unchecking the feature (add links to pdf, along with create links from URLs) in my preferences along with using smallest file size in the print properties.
I have a document with tonnes of URLs that are broken arcross 2 lines, and do not want the URLs to link as they are broken and do not take the user anywhere and I do not want to user to be able to use the PDF to access the URL either.
For some reason the links seem to disable on my computer, but when I send the document to another user, the broken URLs become active again...
    Thanks,
    CreativeCML

So what you are saying is basically, I can't disable the URLs from my end before I send the PDF to the end user?  The final goal is to post the PDF to a website to be used as public information.
Is this something new with Acrobat 9, as I've never noticed this happening in previous version???
